Celtic Rider Training

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Simon at Celtic rider training enough, he’s got me through Mod 1 and Mod 2 with first time passes on both. I had no experience other than a cbt when I arrived and now I have my full A licence. I had 2/3 days training in total and got through the lot in just under 3 weeks. I’m 43 now I’m a truck driver so I’ve learnt to drive cars, class 2 on trucks and also class 1 on trucks and Simon is by far the best instructor I’ve ever had. He’s a lovely bloke has a brilliant style of teaching and is calm and professional at all times. He also cares for his students after they have passed and I know would always be there if I needed any advice or to ask anything even after passing, there’s not many of these people around. Top bloke. Top trainer. Thank you

Negative experience: Simon is a very impatient and patronising person. If you want to pay stupid money by the hour to be verbally abused, go straight ahead. And by verbal abuse, I'm referring to being sworn at and called all the names under the sun. Joker of a man. EDIT: No, it's you I'm referring to Simon. And, no, I don't have you confused with anyone else. You may not remember me, but I certainly remember you and the dreadful experience I had of Mod 1 and Mod 2. I won't be removing the review. Fantastic experience: Simon is truly a legendary figure! Not only did I establish a valuable friendship, but I also gained an immense amount of knowledge from him, enabling me to become a safer and more self-assured rider. Despite my few years of absence from riding, I am reassured that Simon will consistently provide unwavering support for all my motorcycle training needs. Fantastic experience: I’ve just passed my Mod 2 with Celtic riding school and I highly recommend Simon if you’re looking to learn. The lessons were thorough and well organised. Simon is very knowledgable and could explain all the riding technique I needed to become a confident rider well in time for the test. The Susuki SV650 bike was well maintained and a fun bike to learn on. The heated grips definitely helped on a rainy day. From booking the lessons over the phone to riding back after the test, Simon made the whole process seamless and enjoyable. Thanks Simon!

Fantastic experience: Really good experience learning for my mod 1 and mod 2 with Simon. He was able to find time for me despite a very short notice and got me to a good standard in time for my tests, which I passed. Despite the little time we've had, he was able to make the most of it while continuing to be patient and helpful the whole way. The price was more than fair too. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommended. Simon is a very calm and knowledgeable instructor, with a relaxed and friendly teaching style. From never having ridden a motorbike before (apart from a mate's Vespa around a car park 20 years ago), Simon took me through CBT, and DAS and I left the test centre after my Mod 2 pass yesterday feeling confident and relaxed on the road. Simon uses SV650s which are easy to get to grips with for a learner, while still giving you reason to grin when you twist the throttle. I'm going to get some miles under my belt now, but will definitely be thinking about some advanced training with Celtic Rider Training in a year or two. Cheers Simon!

Fantastic experience: Contacted Simon to do my full bike licence, got me and my friend in so much faster than any other trainer could, great guy and a very good trainer, helped get out of the off road riding bad habits and into the road, I can’t recommend him enough, and passed first time, he is a very knowledgable guy and a good laugh, it was a pleasure mate thank you

Fantastic experience: Simon is a very patient and professional bike instructor, would definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to make their first step at motorcycle riding. Initially contacted some other schools but had no response at all, seems they didn't care about losing 1 or 2 business. Simon replied really quick and sorted training time with me. After that every time it was easy to arrange lessons with Simon. Simon was also very patient and well-communicated. At the test centre I saw some other riding instructors, from what I saw Simon was definitely more patient and nicer than them. He'd answer almost all your questions, sometime I even felt he's too nice! Definitely will do some advanced training with him in the future. 5/5 recommend!

Fantastic experience: Huge thank you to Simon and Celtic rider training! Passed mod 2 today and mod 1 two weeks ago with Simons fantastic training after not touching a bike for 12 years. What I like about Simon’s methods are how he teaches you how to think for yourself, to think like a biker and not just teach you how to pass a test. Fantastic experience: I spoke to Simon about completing the Direct Access Course after being told I needed to ride a 125 for a year by Bike Train Wales on completion of my CBT. Bike train Wales had dented any confidence I had built. I explained my riding experience to Simon, which was very limited and he agreed to give me an opportunity I had craved! I complete Simons DAS training and both mod 1 and 2!tests, passing them both with no issues what so ever. I owe everything to Simons ability to teach the techniques needed to pass both mod 1 and 2, as well as overall road safety. Simon displayed professionalism and dedication with his students! I would recommend any one who wants to learn to ride a motorcycle the CORRECT way to choose Simon. Thanks for everything Simon, you have helped me achieve a life goal I wasn’t sure was possible!! Fantastic experience: I contacted Simon @ Celtic riders in January 2022 and completed my CBT, MOD1 and MOD2 with him over the past few weeks. Simon has a calm demeanor and encourages you to ask lots of questions, this combination provides a relaxed but focused experience when completing training with him. I felt safe and in control because of his guidance on and off the road which boosted my confidence when it came to test time. Highly recommended!

Positive experience: Simon is good instructor on day of my test I was nervous so made a couple of mistakes training before hand and he told me go home and get the rider who was here yesterday so kicked me into gear and got me to where I need to be to get over the nerves and got me to pass

Fantastic experience: Praise be!! Having endured a frustrating experience with another riding school before and after Covid lockdowns, I contacted Simon at Celtic Rider Training. From our first conversation, I knew the structure of the training would be a huge improvement on my previous experience. On completing Simon's course, my bike handling, and my knowledge and understanding of reading the road safely, has improved far beyond any progress made previously. How? Why? Simon's approach is methodical and thorough, allowing plenty of time for each student to grasp and consolidate the skill being taught. Feedback is encouraging, NOT abrasive and obnoxious; and we spent our time in the yard or on the road, NOT sat in McDonald's watching the instructor chomp on a Big Mac. I passed both Mod I & Mod II first time under Simon's tutoring. He's an absolute gentleman, liked and respected by every instructor and examiner we met during the course. He is always giving you hints and tips to help you improve and his bikes are of good quality too!! He doesnt take in too many students at once so has time for all of them. Fantastic experience: So within 2 months simon managed to put me and a friend of mine though our module 1+2 with a first time pass for both tests. cant thank him enough. Very professional while learning but also very down to earth and makes you feel at ease out on the bike. Fantastic experience: I booked a refresher course as I had returned to riding after almost 10 years out of the saddle. Was a bit nervous after being away for so long but Simon had a very patient and logical approach for the session. After a short time getting re-acquainted with the controls in the yard we set out on the road, Simon's advice helping me to think like a motorcyclist rather than a car driver. The whole arrangement was covid-safe, bike was a modern Suzuki twin which was fun and straightforward to ride, and took some routes through some beautiful local countryside. Thoroughly enjoyed the training session, very professionally run and lots of useful guidance that I will take away from the session when riding on the road. No hesitation at all in giving a big thumbs-up and recommendation to Celtic Rider Training.

Fantastic experience: Passed my Mod 2 with Simon Today. Had one day of training before hand with him before my test today. He is patient, knowledgeable and always instills confidence. He managed to fit me in with my time schedule and all his equipment was meticulously cleaned (Covid friendly!), my bike was also a modern Suzuki v-twin which was great to ride. Fantastic experience: I did my CBT with Simon, and then went back to him for the modules 1 and 2. I strongly recommend him. He has excellent knowledge of everything related to riding a bike and passing the tests, and he knows how to impart that knowledge and teach those skills. If you're reading this review, the chances are you're looking into different motorbike trainers. If you are, I would seriously doubt the authenticity of the 1 star review here. It smacks of a spiteful competitor. Simon is professional, thorough and direct, which is what you need to learn and to prepare for the tests. I enjoyed my training, passed my test and am confident riding a bike, thanks to Simon.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience completing a CBT with Simon who is so friendly and patient. He tells you exactly what you need to do whilst making you feel calm and confident. After having a very bad experience with another training school where I came off the bike, I couldn't have asked for a better teacher than Simon. I was very nervous getting back on a bike however, Simon really gives you the time one to one and actually teaches you how to ride a bike safely. Thank you so much, I will definitely be coming back to complete my DAC in the future.

Simon has guided me through the whole process, he is calm and very knowledgeable. If you want a reliable, flexible instructor Celtic rider training should be your company of choice. Fantastic experience: I was advised to use Simon by another motorcycle school that could not fit me in soon enough. I was taken from CBT through Mod 1 and 2. I would not consider myself a strong rider, but under Simons tuition I passed Both tests first time. I would recommend without reservation. I do think that Simon was sharper than the examiner, and picked up on every little mistake I made. Then supported me with developing my skills and explaining where I went wrong and how to improve.
