Fantastic experience: An incredible experience from start to finish. Dave was a fantastic instructor and mentor, helping me overcome my fears behind the wheel. Dave offered a very flexible schedule and supportive training technique. The company reputation is well noted by the test centre examiners and they will not let you sit your exam until they are confident in your skill - so you're in such safe hands! Passed first time and cannot thank Dave enough.

Fantastic experience: Having never driven a car before, or knowing how anything works in the car, Vita was extremely patient, kind and knowledgeable! He made me feel at ease, his explanations were extremely practical and concise, he supported me when I struggled with various things and he always believed in me. I had the best mentor and teacher - helping me pass my test today! Thank you for all your patience, teachings and I will use this in my driving going forward. I really recommend Vita for any new learner, as well as, more experienced drivers as he is suited for all levels. He really prepares you for the driving test, but also for driving in real life! Fantastic experience: I just want to give a big thank you to Jason for helping me overcome my fear of driving. I was absolutely terrified of driving, but Jason was patient, calm and gave me the push I needed to improve. He was also flexible with my annoying work schedule, which really helped. He is an excellent instructor and I couldn't recommend him more, I will miss our chats!

Negative experience: well summary of my experience was the instructor I had from this company was totally unprofessional and rubbish, I had to get lessons from somewhere else and this new person was shocked that my previous instructor hadn’t mentioned a lot of details about driving in the UK to me. Honestly I could go on and on about a lot of things but I’ll round up by saying I won’t recommend at all! Hope someone finds this useful. Thanks

Fantastic experience: Cannot thank Dave Mackenzie enough for helping me pass first time. Patient and also very helpful In trying to understand some of the more complex moves especially the manoeuvres. I cannot recommended MDS high enough and would encourage anyone that wants to learn to drive to choose MDS. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Negative experience: While Im sure the other instructors are great, the instructor I got did not provide a positive educational experience. Instructor shouted at me and made me terribly nervous. Very condescending, unhelpful, and took no real time to educate or teach me. With little to no explanation on how to drive, they just expected me to be a perfect driving from lesson one, and mocked me and got annoyed when I didn't know what to do. Ive never been spoken to this way before and it made me very stressed and embarrassed. I cancelled lessons and managed to find an amazing instructor at another school and passed my test first time, three months later.i hope other learners get a better experience than I did.

Fantastic experience: Great experience with my instructor Jason Ross. I passed first time after 5 months and I was Jason’s 11th pass in a row. I started off as a fairly nervous driver but became very confident all due to Jason’s teaching. I couldn’t rate them highly enough!!

I really liked how the lessons were detailed, organised and tailored to you, but also push you out of the comfort zone. He was also super patient and calm during the lessons as well, which made learning to drive very comfortable. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn to drive, I wish I'd been here sooner! Fantastic experience: With Jason Ross as my instructor, after 5 months of lessons, I passed with 4 minors - Jason's 7th pass in a row, thanks to his incredible teaching. Jason was just perfect across the board. He pushed me the right amount forward, instructing my clearly and calmly, introducing challenges at the right time and pace. He also was so helpful at adjusting his schedule to fit me in when my schedule was all over the place due to work. Bottom line, I can't recommend Jason more.

Fantastic experience: Can't recommend My Driving School enough. Called and was straight in for lessons with Dave who is such a great instructor, can't thank him enough for his patience and belief to get me through my driving test. Confident Instructor who knows the roads and test well, helpful every step of the way. Dave is the best instructor ever! I passed my driving test first time this Tuesday.

Fantastic experience: Found Jay after trying another instructor and feeling down about my chances of passing in the near future. Jay built up off from what I already knew and gave me the push I needed to book both theory and practical tests. He always made me comfortable and I will miss the chats but glad to have passed, couldn't recommend highly enough.

Fantastic experience: Honestly I couldn’t recommend Jay enough, was recommended through a friend who passed 1st time with him and was a really anxious driver. From the first lesson He really made me feel super comfortable, is such a great laugh (which helps when you’re a bit nervous to get on the road), and is very patient with you. Was a long road since I work abroad and had to keep starting up my lessons and stopping again when I went away, he always fitted in time for me and was really great in the weeks coming up to my test. If you’re trying to find a good instructor, who can not only teach you incredibly well but make you feel very at ease. This is the guy. Thank you again for all your time and support, a first time pass would not have been possible without you. 5 stars plus!

Fantastic experience: After putting off driving lessons for 7 years, Dave helped me grow my confidence and pass first time within 6 months. The lessons were great as each week I was pushed out my comfort zone, however also helped when needed. Highly Recommend!

I was very nervous to learn to drive and sit a test but Jay was always so calm and patient and really made me feel at ease. Fantastic experience: My driving instructor Chris was very helpful from start to finish, very patient, easy to follow instructions, very professional. Managed to pass first time with no errors and it was all down to Chris for the past few weeks helping me improve on my skills. Fantastic experience: Jay picked my lessons up after my original instructor retired and it was a pretty seamless transition. He is very good at explaining the reasons why things are done a specific way and how to do them correctly. Highly reccomend. Very calm and easy to talk with. Great instructor.

Fantastic experience: Both of my sons learned with instructor Stuart in Bonnyrigg. He was great with them and the quality of instruction was excellent. Both passed quickly and are safe, confident drivers. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Fantastic experience: I had a fantastic experience learning to drive with Kirsten. She has endless patience and happily shared her vast knowledge with me. Kirsten's approach of giving you enough independence to make your own mistakes, whilst always keeping you safe, allowed me to massively increase my confidence. I had come from a less understanding instructor, and felt like I was unteachable. But Kirsten completely changed my perspective and has made me into a relaxed, confident driver. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Honestly only got good things to say about Dave. Best of the best in my opinion - I recently passed with only one minor and that is certainly thanks to Dave. Fantastic experience: I'm 62, and I missed out on driving lessons when I was young. I retired and thought I should learn to drive. I wanted automatic and found Dave; what s superstar, patient, knowledgeable and experienced. He took me from a novice to a pass in six months. I can't recommend Dave enough, a great driving instructor - a nice guy.

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience learning to drive with the help of Jason. He was very patient and explained things clearly, being able to identify areas needing more work on in the lead up to my test. Jason was also flexible and was able to accommodate my schedule which can be awkward at times. Thanks to all of his help, I managed a first time pass and would strongly recommend him to anyone looking for a great instructor!

Fantastic experience: From a workmate that was already instructed by Alex of My Driving School passed his first driving test first time! Alex was recommended to me about 11 months ago and has helped me with passing my driving test first time today as well! Alex is an excellent, friendly and highly professional guy with what he does would 100% would recommend him to anyone who wants to learn and pass there driving test.

Negative experience: I did not have a great experience learning to drive with Chris. It’s only after learning with a new instructor recently that I have realised how poor my experience with Chris was. I’ve chosen to post publicly instead of emailing the org as I would rather people see my review, and can make an informed decision. I don’t believe I can be the only person with this experience. During our lessons Chris hardly offered any guidance, and would often just say ‘I’m not quite sure why you you did that’ in a patronising tone before offering no explanation as to how I could improve. As a nervous driver, who often got overwhelmed, Chris offered no support (my other two instructors were fantastic at this) and he lacked empathy and understanding. His overall demeanour was of someone who could not be bothered to be there, slouching in his seat and regularly browsing on his mobile phone. He also did not offer me any mock tests saying ‘he didn’t think they were useful’. Chris allowed me to sit my test saying it was ‘50/50’ whether I would pass or not (surely instructors have a duty of care to the public to ensure that all drivers are safe and competent before they go for test). In hindsight I was not a safe driver and in fact Chris had allowed me to develop/continue a range of bad habits which my new instructor had to spend months fixing. I believe the hundreds of pounds I spent with Chris were a complete waste of money. I’ve added one star as Chris was always reliable. That’s about the only positive I can think of.

Fantastic experience: I have to say a massive thank you to My Driving School and in particular Alex Sava! Alex was my instructor from the start of my driving experience and I took lessons with him for about a year and a half. Alex was so supportive and really put me at ease during every lesson and also during my test. He really went above and beyond to ensure I could drive to the best of my ability. Alex is the epitome of what a driving instructor should be and it is impossible to put into words how much I appreciate all the time and effort he put into teaching me. Fantastic experience: I've had lessons with Dave Hutchinson and I could not ask for a better instructor. He built up my confidence with every lesson with his patience and calm approach. And trust me, constantly repeating the same thing to me and correcting the same mistakes take a lot of patience! Dave was great, always made me feel at ease and relaxed and it is so important when teaching how to drive. He's got brilliant approach and sense of humour. I passed my test on first attempt and it's mostly thanks to Dave!

Negative experience: I called today to inquire about booking driving lessons. During my first call, it seemed like I wasn't properly connected, and there was no voicemail available. On my second attempt, I encountered a rather rude individual who answered with an attitude. When I explained that I was seeking information on lessons, they responded by saying, 'Listen, you've called me like four times already! If you had listened to my voicemail, you'd know that I'm currently teaching. Goodbye,' and then abruptly hung up.

Fantastic experience: I went to Jason at my driving school he really helped me gain confidence when driving and he got me my goal pass within the year. I’ve achieved my goal this year and all I can say is thank you ! Couldn’t recommend anyone better to do driving with .

Fantastic experience: MDS was reasonably quick to respond when I enquired for lessons. My instructor Vitezslav has been genuinely patient throughout all lessons, helping me build confidence and correct all my mistakes wisely. Overall really happy with the level of support received!

Fantastic experience: I never thought I would take driving lessons it was something that just the thought of made me very anxious and nervous. I started lessons at the end of 2022 with Dave and he put me at ease straight away. He became aware very quickly how my brain learned and how he should explain things to me. Dave is an extremely patient instructor and he becomes your friend through your journey of learning how to drive. Nothing is an issue and he’s very calm when mistakes are made. Thanks to Dave’s lessons I passed my test first time with only 1 minor. This couldn’t have been done without MDS I will always highly recommend them. Thanks Dave for everything.

Negative experience: Dear Driving School Management, I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the conduct of one of your driving instructors, Chris. My wife and I have been taking driving lessons with Chris for a while now, and we have consistently experienced rude behavior and unacceptable treatment from him. As immigrants, we work extremely hard to earn the money to pay for these lessons, and we often struggle with the language barrier when it comes to following instructions. Despite our efforts, Chris has repeatedly shouted at us and made us feel unwelcome during our lessons. This has caused us to lose confidence in our ability to learn and has hindered our progress towards passing our driving test. We understand that mistakes are a natural part of the learning process, but we feel that Chris's behavior towards us has been unnecessarily harsh and unprofessional. We have tried to ignore it and continue with our lessons, but it has become increasingly difficult to do so. We believe that every student should be treated with respect and kindness, regardless of their background or level of experience. We feel that Chris has failed to uphold these basic principles, and we request that immediate action be taken to address this issue. We would appreciate it if you could investigate this matter and take appropriate action to ensure that no other students have to endure the same treatment that we have experienced. We are committed to continuing our driving lessons and passing our test, but we cannot do so in an environment where we are constantly belittled and demeaned. Fantastic experience: I had a great experience taking lessons from Dave and passed on the first go! The lessons were informative and Dave was really patient with all my questions and parking attempts :)

Fantastic experience: Dave is a great instructor and explains the way driving works and each manoeuvre perfectly!, he helped me fit lessons in after work and his teaching helped me pass first time!

Positive experience: The staff at MDS have always been kind, courteous and prompt - never missed a lesson, and my instructor Alex had a strong dedication to his work - always responded promptly to texts and was very understanding when I had to cancel lessons to care for sick relatives. My reasons for giving up on lessons were complex, I struggled with my confidence during lessons and the full time work life balance with learning which in turn impacted my progress. After 18 lessons and 36 hours of driving - we estimated together that it would take me almost 60+ hours to fully grasp the syllabus. Ultimately I felt I wasn't making enough progress fast enough - with the added decision that no one in my immediate family could teach me and I didn't own a manual anyway. I decided to stop lessons and try in automatic. I'm grateful for the skills I've learned in manual and the team at MDS. My only feedback to the team at MDS and any other full time working twenty somethings to only do intensive courses - regular lessons was a real challenge as work life makes it difficult to maintain a schedule! I hope this honest review is constructive!

I was a very anxious driver who had already received countless lessons in a manual and could not imagine ever being ready for a test. After working with Dave I’m happy to say I passed first time and now feel confident on the roads! Will be recommending to all my friends a big big thankyou to Dave and this company !

Fantastic experience: Having tried multiple other instructors before finding MDS I can thoroughly recommend learning with MDS. My instructor Neil Hay was an absolutely fantastic teacher and learning with him helped me not only pass but pass well. Neil was also kind, friendly, professional and calm creating a positive learning environment. Learning techniques for manoeuvres were simple to learn and made the absolute world of difference to my driving. 10/10 would 100% recommend learning with Neil and MDS.

Fantastic experience: After a horrendous experience with a previous instructor I was put onto Alex by Dave and he was fantastic, night and day compared to my previous instructor. Alex explained everything in great detail, was patient and helped me work on the points I needed to improve to pass, 4 weeks later and only around 7 lessons with Alex I passed with a single minor. Highly recommend MDS and Alex if you need an instructor.

Negative experience: I wouldn’t even give it 1 star! Shocking that they allow an instructor to drop you as a student 8 weeks before test date because you are unwell and have to cancel one lesson. ALEX SAVA- do not go with this driving instructor!!! No help going forward as a company and can’t do anything about it. Disgusting behaviour coming from “professionals”.

Negative experience: Shocking customer service - doesn't want to be taking bookings and messing people about! Avoid at all cost!

Fantastic experience: MDS was recommended to me and for good reason. Mr. Dave Hutchinson Instructed my Daughter in 20 hours of lessons and she passed her test first time. Diligent and thorough with a natural instructional style, Dave comes highly recommended from me now, I can not rate MDS highly enough. Thanks Dave you are a Gent and a Scholar!
