Fantastic experience: I chose Dean Wyatt Driving School because my step mum works with Dean Wyatt. I ⁠had my first driving lesson around my 17th birthday but work got in the way, which then meant I had to do an intensive course. There was a lot more to learn than I thought, but it was still enjoyable. I found Karen's patient teaching methods very helpful, as sometimes things got very stressful. Having access to the Theory Test Pro app through the driving school was very helpful when studying for my theory test. I would also recommend Dean Wyatt Driving School because I found my lessons to be quite pleasant, even when they got a bit stressful. I ⁠would have liked a bit more time to learn, but given my work commitments, I needed to be ready for my test on my last day of annual leave.

For me specially, the manoeuvres were much simpler to learn than anticipated. Eddie gave me little tips and tricks which made it easier to remember. Eddie's teaching methods were strict but in a good way to improve discipline. I had learned to drive previously and had a large gap in between, but I think I had forgotten all the road rules and strategy that goes into it. I knew learning to drive was going to be tough and it was, but having driven before under my belt helped me I think. It was good to go over each part of driving slowly. Jo would identify and focus on bits I was stuck on (I.e roundabouts, hesitating, meeting traffic) and go over that, which was good for building my confidence. Fantastic experience: My partner passed yesterday with only 1 minor! Before learning to drive he was extremely nervous and anxious about getting behind the wheel; but his instructor Des, was great and really calmed him down on his first lesson. Fantastic experience: I got recommended to Dean Wyatt Driving School through a family friend and couldn’t have been happier with the recommendation. I was extremely anxious and nervous when I first started and thought I’d be driving for 10 mins in the first lesson, but Des got me straight in the driving seat after driving me to a quiet road and walked me through each step and it was the best thing for me and my confidence. Karen was an amazing instructor and gave constructive feedback, had bundles of patience and experience and put the safety of our son first and correctly predicted when he was fully prepared for his first test. Learning to drive was not as overwhelming and over complicated than I first thought it would be. I can’t fault Des' teaching methods. I feel that Des tailors his teaching style to match the needs of his students. Fantastic experience: My previous instructor, also at the Dean Wyatt Driving School, was no longer teaching, so I was put in touch with Jo. This was a fortunate turn of events because Jo was a great instructor! Learning to drive was similar to how I thought it would be. I had some previous lessons with a different instructor in Oxford so I already had a grasp of the basics. Learning with Jo took me to that next level of being ready for the test. We covered large roundabouts, dual carriageways and emergency stops, all for the first time. I found my Jo’s teaching methods really helpful. She was usually calm and relaxed, which I found helpful. She had a good technique for parallel parking and she always thought the best way to learn something was by doing! At my stage, I found this helpful because it would’ve wasted time to go through the diagrams all over again. I liked how she replicated test routes so I felt more confident and comfortable on the day of the test. I’d definitely recommend Jo and the Dean Wyatt Driving School to friends. I had a very positive experience and result, passing 1st time! Jo was also very accommodating with lesson timings and was able to work around my unpredictable work schedule when needed. I don’t think there is much that could have been done better. At times I could sense Jo’s frustration when I made a silly mistake or hadn’t listened to her carefully enough, but overall she was calm and patient. Jo was an excellent driving instructor and I would recommend her to anyone.

I found learning to drive more difficult than I expected which is why I think it is important to find the right instructor, especially if you lack confidence. She also took me on test routes so that I was familiar with the roads. They are an independent school so have a genuine interest in achieving the goals of each individual. 2. Dean was flexible to my needs e.g. lesson times. 3. There was no need for block bookings - completely driven by the individual and their requirements. 4. Positive testimonies on their website. 5. They are local to my area. It wasn’t a case of going back to basics with my refresher lessons. Instead Dean was led by and worked with my own needs to provide tailored lessons that worked on my own confidence. Dean is incredibly knowledgeable and provides helpful prompts and techniques to be able to apply outside of lessons. In the short amount of time Dean has known me, knowing a lack of confidence is a general weakness, he used this understanding to tailor lessons and motivate me. Learning to drive was a lot more enjoyable than what I expected. Des prepared me very well for individual driving and I found the process a lot less stressful than I thought it would be. Des' teaching methods were excellent, flexible and well catered for individual students. There was no one size fits all approach and Des catered his training based on my individual traits – this resulted in very good progress. My sister and cousin had Dean and they both passed first time, so I knew the quality of teaching was going to be unmatched. Learning to drive was kind of what I expected it to be like. I was definitely nervous at first, although the more you did something, the more confidence you built up and then the less nervous you got. Come the later lessons, I wanted to challenge myself and I wasn’t nervous at all. Dean’s lessons were great. At the beginning of each lesson I was asked what I wanted to do or practice in the lesson. Then we would do that until myself and Dean thought I was getting good and consistent at it. Dean would also have loads of diagrams/drawings so I can visualise what I needed to do without jumping straight in the deep end and doing it with no clue of what's going on. I would definitely recommend Dean Wyatt Driving School to my mates because of the quality I know they will get. Some of my mates have already chosen Dean Wyatt Driving School. There is not much to improve on in my opinion. I never had to wait for my instructor once and I always got the whole 2hours and it was never cut short early. Fantastic experience: I learnt to drive 10 years ago, but after moving to central London I stopped. I now have two small children and realised I was lacking the independence driving confidently gave me, and I had concerns about getting them to the hospital or doctors quickly if needed, as it had been over the past year. I found Dean Wyatt Driving School recommended on a Facebook post - either on Orpington gossip or Petts Wood. After looking I saw that your team specialised in anxious drivers and offered extra information on that too, which seemed to go above and beyond other driving schools. You also offered lessons in my own car and were happy to have kids come on the lessons if needed which helped with flexibility. I didn’t know what to expect from my refresher lessons, but I found myself doing more than what I thought I was capable of fairly quickly. There was no pressure at all but gentle encouragement. I found your teaching methods the perfect balance between encouraging but feeling like I still had control over how much I did. I always knew what to expect and what we were focusing on, and there were no surprises which I would have found stressful. Towards the end of my lessons I was more relaxed and it also let me practice chatting while driving which is also an important skill. I would recommend you to my friends for all the reasons above! Fantastic experience: I chose Dean Wyatt Driving School having researched local driving schools and compared reviews. I saw there were lots of recommendations for the school on local facebook groups. I was looking for a school that offered refresher lessons and understood nervous drivers. When I first enquired with the school they were professional and friendly and understood my anxiety and had availability straight away so I decided to book with them. I wasn’t too sure what to expect beforehand, but I am really happy with how the lessons went and how there was visible progress each lesson. I wasn’t sure how long it would take me to feel confident driving, but I expected it to take longer than it did. Jo’s calm demeanour and teaching really helped. I think it could have been different with other instructors who weren’t as calm or understanding. I liked how Jo made a plan for each lesson and then set a goal for the next one. I liked Jo’s teaching methods, particularly how she worked with my levels of confidence and my suggestions to devise a plan and set goals for each lesson. She had the right balance of pushing me out of my comfort zone so that I could build up my experience and confidence on the road, but also working at my pace and checking that I was ok and never forcing me to do a drive I didn’t yet feel comfortable with. She always explained things clearly. I liked how at the end of each lesson she reflected on what we’d covered and things I needed to work on and improve, and what I did well. I started as hesitant and nervous in my abilities, and now feel confident and safe thanks to Jo’s teaching. I would recommend Jo to my friends and anyone looking to learn to drive or refresh their driving skills. I can’t think of any improvements. Fantastic experience: After seven years of not driving due to extreme anxiety I decided it was now or never to tackle it. I looked up refresher lessons and Dean Wyatt Driving School popped up as specialising in anxious drivers. Dean’s quick and understanding response to my email really helped me take those first steps. I was extremely anxious when I started the lessons and quite frankly just expected to be told I was a terrible driver who should never be in the driver's seat! However Peter was extremely patient and understanding. We took every lesson at my own pace and it really helped me slowly build my confidence back up. I’m so pleased that I’ve been able to achieve more than I could’ve ever thought possible with Peter's help and am now able to independently get to where I need to be. I think Peter is an excellent teacher, and explains things in a clear and calm way. I feel like my ability to navigate the roads and anticipate the actions of other road users has greatly improved and has given me the ability to feel like a safe and confident driver. I would without a doubt recommend Peter as a driving instructor. He continued to believe in me and encouraged me even when I had some very anxious moments and doubted myself. I was thoroughly prepared for my test. The training equipped me with the skills that I needed to pass. Everything that I was taught proved relevant to the test. Driving is so much harder mentally than I expected - very tiring to have to focus on so much constantly. However, I found that I coped quite well thanks to the relaxed atmosphere while learning. I really liked the teaching. It fit around how I like to learn and pushed me when I needed to, without overwhelming me. I would definitely recommend Dean as he taught me to be a safe driver and I feel confident on the roads. Fantastic experience: I heard about Jo at Dean Wyatt Driving School from one of my mum's friends who’s daughter was also taught by Jo. She said that Jo helped her become a more confident driver through her teaching techniques which ultimately helped her pass her driving test. Therefore I got Jo’s number directly and got in contact for some lessons. Having done some previous lessons elsewhere beforehand I had basic knowledge and general control of the car, so therefore learning to drive again wasn’t too different from how I expected it to be. I found Jo's teaching methods easy to understand and follow. She is very patient and explains things thoroughly, especially if you have any questions. Her techniques for the manoeuvres helped me become better in performing them in different types of situations. Additionally, my own driving was very rushed and unsafe at times and she would get frustrated at me occasionally, however this honesty ultimately helped me to become a better driver and pass my test. I would recommend Dean Wyatt Driving School to a friend as they are affordable and can cater to your availability. Furthermore, they want to make sure you pass and are safe on the road which is key. I don't think Jo could have done anything more or better, her lessons were useful and I ended up passing with only 3 minors!

Fantastic experience: I chose the Dean Wyatt Driving School as I had already had Dean as an instructor before the lockdowns, so wanted to stay with him. The learning process, while seemingly quick at first, took longer than I thought it would be in the long run, and I seemed to plateau in progress as time went on, but eventually became sufficient for the test. My instructor Karen was very effective in her teaching methods and made new topics easy to understand but was also effective in correcting my mistakes. Fantastic experience: After passing my driving test 6 years ago, I had an accident which really wrecked my confidence. I didn’t drive again for a few years, and when I decided I felt ready to try again, I went back to Dean Wyatt Driving School for my refresher lessons as I’d done well with him in the past and felt confident he could help me again the second time round. I’d felt a lot more relaxed and confident after my first lot of lessons, and that continued with the refresher ones. I was quite an anxious driver, but I really appreciated getting the chance to talk through my worries as well as Dean's sympathetic approach to helping me relearn how to drive. By my last lesson I had remastered the basics and got my confidence back which had been my main aim, and it’s only gotten better from there. I couldn’t recommend Dean highly enough.

Fantastic experience: Dean’s a brilliant instructor…he’s done a thoroughly excellent job in turning my son from a novice driver into accomplished one. The ability of DWDS to adapt lessons and driving plans to suit my sons skillset has been exceptional - it’s the key factor in him passing his test first time. Dean recognise the individual needs of the driver and uses a variety of communication methods to get his message across and he also has abundance of patience. What’s also impressive me is how clear it was for my to Son to keep up to speed with his development on the app and also the ease of the booking system.

Fantastic experience: After searching around for driving instructors for our son I decided to reach out on FB! A friend of mine on there who I worked with over 18 years ago posted ‘my husband is an instructor!’ Perfect! This same friends sister also taught Luke when he was 7 in the infants! Small world! After first contact with Dean I knew we had made the right decision. He was so clear, informative and very easy to get on with. It was important to us to find someone calm, kind and friendly for Luke. I’d heard many horror stories about instructors being harsh, strict and not very easy to get on with, therefore making the student feel completely on edge. After the first lesson Luke said he felt totally at ease with dean and the lessons would be taught around how he wanted to learn. He said he felt totally comfortable talking to Dean and learning with him never felt like a chore. Due to covid and lockdowns the lessons were stop start which was frustrating for everyone. However Dean got him through it and kept motivation going when lessons could resume. We were super proud of Luke to pass first time with zero faults and as much as we know he was doing the driving, this is also down to the faultless teaching from Dean. I can’t recommend Dean enough and i’m so happy I shouted out for recommendations and found him! Thanks again Dean we will book you again for our younger son in a couple years!

Fantastic experience: I chose Dean Wyatt Driving School as Dean had been recommended to me from various friends who had nothing but a wealth of positive feedback about not only his ability to teach but also his ability to listen to and understand his pupils and how they like to learn. It’s safe to say that I was not disappointed! Especially after him getting me to pass first time with 0 faults! Learning to drive felt like taking the basic skills we learn as children: observing, coordinating and most importantly critical thinking, and then leveling them all up. It surprised me that driving was not simply mechanical; changing gears and using pedals, but was more psychological. This was a challenge at first however with help from Dean it was a joy to exercise my brain to learn to assess difficult situations, to anticipate and to even have the ability to fix other road users' mistakes. This process although daunting is truly fulfilling and exciting giving you transferable skills for the rest of your life, this was an unexpected but great outcome. Dean's methods of teaching were completely tailor made for me. From my very first lesson he asked me about how I liked to learn and asked for honest feedback on his teaching. Too fast, he’ll slow down. Too slow, he’ll pick up the pace. This made me feel incredibly comfortable in getting in the car and progressing as there was no pressure. Fantastic experience: Dean was recommended to me by a family member. Learning to drive was harder than I originally expected, but this changed when I switched to Dean Wyatt! Dean was excellent! He made me realise that some of the things I had been told by my other instructor were not strictly appropriate for every situation. He made very clear points about things I can improve and had his own methods for learning things like the width of the car for example. I would recommend Dean as a driving instructor as he is very calm and when you become more competent, he will instruct you to improve your independence on the road.
