Fantastic experience: I needed a refresher course after not driving for thirty years. Matt was my instructor and was very friendly, patient and encouraging, which was just what I needed. He was also a skilled coach in terms of always instructing in the "Goldilocks zone" - not too difficult and not too easy. I was constantly challenged, but also felt that I was in safe hands.

Fantastic experience: A great investment! As a mature driver & having a ban for dangerous driving which meant having to re take my test . I realised I had 40 years of bad habits & not up to speed with the new rules. Michael Vosper at Kings driving was first class . He literally took me through all my bad points , re educated me & fixed so much of my bad driving habits. It was such a good investment & I felt he learnt me so much. I did about 30-40 hours with another driving company and wasn't getting anywhere but since driving with King my driving really improved and ended up passing my test first time! Have always felt really supported at King. The instructor I had was called Matt and couldn't of asked for a better instructor. He was always happy and made you feel super comfortable. Would highly recommend King.

Fantastic experience: Training to be a driving instructor with Karl at King Driving Training has been the best decision I have ever made. Driving instructor training can be a tough process as I first found out when I originally trained and did not make it past the final part 3 test. This was then a massive problem as I was suddenly out of a job as a trainee instructor with no income, and to top it off I would have to wait a year before my original part 1 theory test expired and I was able to start the training process again from the beginning. I was not with King Driver Training during my first lot of training but I was already friends with Karl through the industry. He really kept in touch with me whilst I had to have a year out working a furniture removals job, giving me lots of help and motivation to come back to driving instructing once I was allowed to retrain. After my year away I decided to retrain and this time signed up with King Driver Training. Karls training, knowledge and attention to detail is honestly second to none. He is always there to help whenever you need it, whether that be on the phone at any time or meeting up to help even on his scheduled days off. Before I knew it I was noticing and doing things differently to what I had been doing before and I really noticed my ability and confidence as an instructor reap the rewards. This was most obvious whilst on my very first attempt at my part 3 test second time round. This time I breezed through, passing first time, with the examiner who had originally failed me saying he had noticed massive improvements in my instructor ability. This was all down to Karl and the training that I received from him. Now I am fully qualified I am loving my job as an approved driving instructor. Working for King Driver Training really feels like a family, and I wouldn’t ever want to be with another team. If you are thinking about training to become a Driving Instructor please don’t look anywhere else as Karl is honestly the best at what he does. Thank you Karl for helping me get through such a tough time, couldn’t of done it without you!

Fantastic experience: I had Michael, he was a great teacher, very calm and patient. He was also very good to get on with and have a laugh. Never put extreme pressure on me and was always happy to let me do things a couple times to feel confident and he was also very good at re explaining if i didnt get it the first time. Would highly recommend :)

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend King Driver Training !! I had Karl as my instructor and I generally don’t think I could have done it without him. Every lesson there was something different to look forward to, and Karl was always there to greet me with a smile even if my day wasn’t going great. He was very patience with me in the beginning as I wasn’t a fan of driving and struggled but as I soon got the hang of it I found to enjoy it more and Karl’s teaching methods to be very effective progressing my driving. So thank you Karl! - side note. If you don’t mind the odd moisturising session or snack time, then Karl is the perfect instructor for you :)

Fantastic experience: Training with King Driver Training was great from the very start. I met with Karl just after being with a national company - we sat and had a talk about what I wanted/needed to do and he helped me achieve all of it. He helped me with things I was unsure about by answering all the questions I had, no matter how silly they may be, and helped me by asking me simple questions to get it out of me. He is honest with you and can be strict (in a good way) to keep you on track. Everything he has done for me you can see that he cares about what he does, and with how he trained me I felt very supported all the time compared to the national company. I’m also better off as with the national company I was limited on my pay scale as it will only increase when the company allows it - working with King Driver Training my pay increased by 64% Being a smaller company you feel part of a family and when meeting for work events it feels like a much more friendly experience to when in a national company it feels like it is just colleagues. I’m very glad I choose Karl to help me through this, it’s been nothing but the highest training and lots of laughs and I have made a great friend

Fantastic experience: Karl is an amazing instructor, he is calm and friendly and genuinely cared about me being a safe driver and not just learning to pass my test. My first lesson i was very nervous but he answered all of my questions and eased my anxiety. He follows up every lesson with a lesson summary which is very helpful in knowing what to work on outside of lessons. Coming up to my test we did some mock tests where we worked through my faults to ensure that i didn't make them again. Every lesson was relaxed and fun. I passed my test with Karl's help and i can't recommend him enough!

Fantastic experience: Karl is a great driving instructor, I had previously had another driving instructor who had over complicated simple steps and made the idea of driving tests and driving in general a long, difficult and stressful process. On the first lesson with Karl, he helped me start from fresh, had a talk about things in driving that were making me stressed and simplified everything that needed to be simplified. About a month and a half of lessons (and a moved test) later, I passed with 4 minors. I really would recommend him, he’s one of the ones that want you to be a good confident driver and not just good enough to pass your test. The growth in confidence and ability that I got from lessons with Karl was rapid yet helpful and thoroughly impactful and about 2 weeks before the tests I knew that I would be okay to drive on my own. He took time out to talk me through stress coping mechanisms, sent me resources and supported any ideas I had to keep myself calm on the day of the test. Through every lesson he was very calm and patient with me, I never felt like I was being spoken down to and it was clear that he actually cares about every individual student’s progress - for example, one of my biggest problems were people I had never met before being in the car on test day so he brought along his colleagues twice to my lessons so I could be more comfortable with it before I went to test. Overall would really recommend him, if he had been my first driving instructor I think I would have passed a lot quicker.

It would have been a struggle for me to practise driving in Exeter but luckily he was available to pick me up from the train station and drop me off after every session which was very helpful. I was one of those people, that when focusing on learning one thing, a fault with something else would pop up, he was patient, stuck with me and always had a plan on how to squash the faults, until they stayed squashed. I told him I was quitting at least 13583 times a month but he still powered through and ensured I was test ready. He went above and beyond every time we met up and even sat with my whilst I cried because I failed my 1st test over something stupid !!! He is one of the nicest and most approachable people I have met. Karl observes, assesses and reflects on your performance brilliantly but also listens to your opinions before having a really good discussion about them rather than telling you you're wrong. I was given some really handy feedback and support by Karl in preparation for my ADI Part 3 test, which I am pleased and relieved to say I passed. His lesson observations are impressively thorough. His 5 page review from a sit-in on one of my lessons proved just how passionate and on the ball he is to make sure you become the best instructor you can possibly be. No stone is left unturned. He has a calm and quiet nature which really puts you and your learner at ease and always strives to perfect his practice in order to deliver you great value for money.
