Fantastic experience: I recently learned to drive with hand controls with Steve Griffiths. He has been great. From the first lesson, Steve was friendly, patient, kind, and understanding of my needs. I hadn’t been on the road since 2008, and I was driving with regular controls. Transitioning to hand controls was like learning to drive all over again, especially after such a long break. Steve took time to ensure I felt fully in control of the vehicle before we moved onto the main roads. He gave me step-by-step guidance to prepare for being in traffic on main roads, and the new driving journey felt manageable. He also helped me build confidence in situations that initially felt challenging. Steve also tailored the lessons to my abilities, ensuring I had ample time to practice and master each skill at my own pace. Whether navigating heavy traffic, turns, roundabouts, parallel parking, car park space parking, or driving on dual carriageways and motorways, Steve challenged me. Equally, he made sure I felt comfortable and safe. Each time I did something new, Steve suggested we stop and take a breather, and he gave me targeted feedback before continuing with the lesson. He was very encouraging and made sure to congratulate me each time I tackled something new. He was always on time and good at communicating lesson scheduling information. Thanks so much. I am now independent and driving on my own. I highly recommend Steve to anyone looking for an understanding and skilled instructor for adapted controls.

Fantastic experience: I couldn’t be happier with my driving lessons with Paul! He was recommended to me by the technician who installed a left pedal on my automatic car, and it was indeed the best recommendation. Having never used a left accelerator pedal before, I was a bit nervous initially, but Paul’s patience, professionalism, and clear guidance made the whole process easy to understand. He is incredibly polite, accommodating, and honest, and he’s also so easy to talk to, which helped me feel comfortable right from the start. Now I see why he and his team are so booked up! I’ll definitely be recommending Paul to family and friends. As someone wheelchair-bound, I was genuinely grateful for Paul’s kindness. He went above and beyond to help me in and out of my house and into his car without a single complaint. Who does that these days? He’s just genuinely a lovely guy! Five stars anytime!

My 1st lesson was on 18th July 24 and I passed my test (with 0 faults) on 26th September 24, I was so happy, I just want to say thankyou so much for all of your help.

He has an extraordinary ability to clearly explain what seems complicated, especially to those who are just at the beginning of their driving career.

Fantastic experience: I was really nervous to learn to drive, and felt very vulnerable as a disabled road user. Kris immediately put me at ease and is a patient, respectful and supportive instructor with a great sense of humour. He didn’t give up on me when I didn’t believe I could do it and constantly built up my confidence with encouragement and fun lessons. I would highly recommend DRTN and especially Kris. I can’t imagine a better instructor to teach me how to drive.

Fantastic experience: I can't recommend Kris enough - having had international experience, I needed lessons for UK driving. Kris was brilliant, he identified immediately what needed work and was just fun to work with. He is very pleasant, patient and amiable which is why I would especially recommend him to first-time drivers as well. I passed the first time with only a few hours of lessons with Kris - happy with my decision.

Fantastic experience: Learnt how to drive with Paul in 5 months, amazing experience, really great guy and brilliant driving instructor. Highly recommend!!! I met Paul at a young drivers workshop and was informed by him that i could learn how to drive at 16 and that i was entitled to a motability car due to being in receipt of pip which i had no clue of. He took me on a taster session that afternoon and i had my first official lesson booked the following week. I had 2 hour lessons once a week and gained my confidence really quick due to paul’s confidence in me. He listened to my rambling every week and gave me a chance to chat whenever he wasn’t giving me instructions. I was really comfortable with Paul and always looked forward to my lessons. He even offered support with my theory test. Even after i passed my driving test, he took me on one last lesson to practice the motorway in my own car. I was really supported throughout my whole experience of learning to drive. A massive thank you to drtn for making the process of getting my license so enjoyable and stress free!

Fantastic experience: Under tutalidge with Matt I have achieved a pass on the first try at the exam. he has been an excellent educator and very personable, helping to walk through the processes. their overall reach for the county as well makes them an excellent choice.

Fantastic experience: I've had my driving license for over two years. I like driving, but I feel uncomfortable driving around roundabouts. During our drive, Kris always gave me great tips. One day we approached a roundabout and I started to panic. I wanted to get off in the middle of junction. I wanted to stop as immediately and not go any further... then Kris calmly said: "OK, stop. Pull over to a safe place, I'll explain how to do it and if you're ready, we'll try again." There was a lot of traffic, I was anxious, but his calmness had an effect on me. I knew I was safe and that even if I did something wrong, Kris would safely help me cross that terrible roundabout. and guess what? I did it. I drove slowly, listening to Kris' prompts all the time. I actually like this roundabout now :) You do wonders with your professionalism and calmness, Kris. Lucy (my car) and I are grateful for the new driving experience.

Fantastic experience: I'm a very anxious person and driving was really daunting to me, I started first learning to drive with my dad and after that not going so well I was really nervous and not excited with the idea of taking lessons with a professional. I couldn't be happier with how every single lesson went with Kris. On my first lesson with Kris, taking lessons with a male instructor seemed really scary but Kris was very quick to pick up on this and was amazing in reassuring me and validating my fears, never once have I felt uncomfortable in his presence. Kris is calm, and so patient even when I made really "silly" mistakes I never had to feel ashamed. He was really open-minded and willing to accommodate for what I needed everyday, I cant express how much this is appreciated. My disabilities can make it really difficult for me to become calm after any kind of stress but Kris' calm energy is infectious and seeing him calm made me calm in response. Every lesson we covered something new, or something I wasn't too comfortable with yet, anything challenging I mentioned Kris remembered and we would cover it until I become confident. Kris is excellent in being informative and making instructions and tips as easy to follow as possible. He always made it crystal clear that any questions are welcome and I never felt stupid for asking anything. Kris was very attentive when I was driving, there was never a moment when I was worried about crashing, I came pretty close once but he was INSTANT with his reaction, my dad who was sitting in the back was very impressed. Kris was MORE than able to help me get ready for my test within exactly A MONTH which is insane and I passed with 0 minors. I seriously can't thank him enough and I will never forget how much this experience has changed my life, I will always be so grateful for him. I so highly recommend Kris, he is an amazing instructor and person, I appreciate every conversation we have had. Again, I can't thank him enough there aren't enough words or gratitude. I lacked confidence and believed I didn't deserve as much space as everyone else before meeting Kris and I can CONFIDENTLY say now that my mindset has completely changed thanks to him. Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test this yesterday after being taught by Matt with a Lodgson disability adaption. He told me on the test day: just take the test as a normal driving lesson. I have had some lessons with someone else before who is always angry, harassing and would tell me you would need a year-long lessons to pass your test. Matt of DRTN prove him wrong. Fantastic experience: After having a bad experience when having lessons with a previous instructors in the past I was very anxious on my first couple of lesson but my anxiety soon started to fade after meeting kris and having conversations with him during the lessons, he quickly helped me to relex and put me at ease. Kris has a great passion for driving, and this comes across in the way he teaches. He provides you with many videos, detailed pictures, and other information like the show me/tell me questions. As extra help to go over outside of lessons. During lessons, Kris is a very calm, patient, confident, and informative teacher. He doesn't make you spend lesson after lesson doing the same things. He tries to make every lesson something new, but I always felt like I was in safe hands with Kris. Due to the nature of my health problems, I find it hard to believe in myself and am the type of person to constantly be critical, put myself down, and doubt myself over everything I do. However, kris really helped with this pointing out where I was being too harsh on myself, talking through things with me on lessons, and no matter what, he always remained positive and calm no matter what happened. Even the time I completely messed up a parking manoeuvre and nearly burst into tears in the middle of a lesson. He would still be happy and cheerful and always found a way to help me find the positive side of things, and this has not only helped me in my driving but has also really helped me to boost my self-confidence overall. Thanks to kris, I have now got back the independence and freedom my health has taken away from me for years. I don't know how I could ever explain how very greatfull I am. Kris is truly amazing, and I would recommend him to anyone he is a fantastic instructor. I passed on my first attempt

Fantastic experience: I booked a couple of lessons with Stephen as I passed my test 13 years ago and hadn't driven since, but have recently acquired a Motibility vehicle. I have gone out in the car a couple of times with my partner but was extremely nervous and tense, despite the fact I mostly knew what I was doing (I have ADHD and suffer from severe anxiety). I had 2 refresher lessons with Stephen in which he eased my anxiety MASSIVELY, made me laugh and built my confidence whilst highlighting what I need to work on with a very kind and gentle delivery. He helped me refresh my memory on the rules of the road and made me realise that although it is tough and scary, I am actually capable! I now feel confident to lone drive again. Can't recommend this man enough - he was wonderful. :)

Fantastic experience: I just had to leave this review for your new instructor there Stephen, he has been helping with my motability lessons after I changed instructors recently, I've only had 4 hours lessons and I'm so shocked at how much he has teached me in those lessons. He understood my mental and physical struggles and supported me in understanding and simplifying parts i struggled with in my driving, so that they stick in my head as this is what I struggle with alot, he really boosts your confidence in driving, he's easy to talk to and have a laugh making you relaxed at driving and having him as your instructor, he helped me master things I've been struggling with and that other instructors wasn't able to help drill into my head or show me easier ways for me to understand like Stephen did, I failed my test in December but after these lessons I feel so confident and ready to pass in just a weeks time ,the best thing I did was to swap to Stephen, really appreciate his help and look forward to my last lesson with him

Fantastic experience: My name is Wesley and I have been learning how to drive with Kris from Driver and Rider Training Nottingham for the past 6 months. I only have incredible things to say about the way Kris has taught me how to drive and I cannot thank him enough. I first met Kris after reading his reviews and being recommended to him by another one of his former pupils who had a fantastic experience with DRTN as according to my friend, “my confidence has been significantly boosted since learning how to drive and it all falls down to Kris”. Kris has an automatic car which he uses to teach his pupils and it was a new experience because I was originally learning in a manual car with my former instructor but the transition from manual to automatic was made much easier thanks to his teaching. The habits I had from manual driving were something Kris identified and helped me make a smooth transition which is something I didn’t think would be made possible. Im glad I went with Kris as not only is he a fantastic instructor, he is a fantastic person who understands the stress of learning to drive for the first time is stressful and all the emotions which goes into it all so thanks to him for that. Fantastic experience: After having lessons with other instructors in the past I felt ready to give up on passing my test. Then I met kris, I was nervous on my first lesson as expected but that soon quickly faded once conversation started flowing, it very quickly put me at ease. Even though I've had alot of stress and health problems happening around my driving lessons, I never wanted to cancel my lessons because it always cheered me up to be taught by kris, his general chatty personality and jokes always raised my spirit. Fantastic experience: I'm Deaf myself, my previous old instuctor had no deaf awareness and communicate breakdown. I have always struggled with anxiety and put me off driving but Matt was so patient with me, gave great instruction, feedbacks and encouraged/push me I can do it. Plus he can sign BSL! I knew from my first lesson with him, I had made the right choice, Matt is brilliant! I enjoyed every lesson and found improve driving and confidence in myself which I never thought I would have. Fantastic experience: Paul is the best driving instructor I’ve ever met, and a great person on so many levels. I have enjoyed taking lessons with him, and despite all the difficulties I was facing, he made me feel heard, and supported. He is an EXPERT at what he does, so passionate about his work, very calm and relaxed, puts the candidates at ease, yet makes sure they are competent before they sit the test. Unlike any other instructor, Paul genuinely cares. I know he is very happy for me right now that I have passed my test. In a way, I know I’ll miss his company, but I’ll make sure to keep him as a dear friend. Note: I’ve tried two other instructors before Paul, and having moved to UK from another country, where rules were completely different, Paul is the only person who could get me to get over this and make it to success. No second thoughts, Paul is the BEST DRIVING INSTRCUTOR ANYONE COULD HAVE!

Fantastic experience: I suffer from adhd and severe anxiety, and I thought that I would never be comfortable in the driver's seat of a car, let alone take a test and get my license. Thanks to Matt & Paul, I've been able to build my confidence and skills to the point where I've been able to thrive behind the wheel of a car, and today I even passed my practical driving test. I cannot recommend DRTN enough, especially for anyone who is neurodivergent and/or lacking confidence behind the wheel.

Fantastic experience: I just moved from Indonesia 6 months prior to my practical driving test. Although I am an experienced driver who holds an American and Indonesian license, the driving experience in the UK is very different, and it hit my confidence pretty badly. Getting lessons with Kris has been so helpful as he knows exactly what to do and say to boost my confidence up! His driving tips and constant encouragement during our lessons really did help me get used to UK roads and mannerisms, which got me a pass on the first try after just 10 hours of lessons (woop woop!) During our lessons, Kris was really professional and clear when explaining the techniques and maneuvers. He has a positive energy and is such a pleasure to work with, which I will greatly miss. Fantastic experience: Are you want to learn to drive, but you are a little scared inside? If yes, pls keep scoll down to read. I came from Hong Kong and I had taken a driving lesson when I was there. Everytime when I went to the lesson, I just feel like going to execution ground. My previous instructor will shout at me if I done something wrong. Also my personality always want to make things in perfect. It gave me a lot of pressure and I had no confident for my driving skills and fail two times on the test. After that, I come to UK and I found that I should have a driving license to make my life more flexibility. Then I start to found an instructor. My sister refer Kris to me and I start my first lesson at around Mar 2021. I won't forget the day of my first lesson with Kris. We were in Toton tram station's car park and he ask me to drive for him to evaluate my level. I remember my hand is shaking, my heart beat is over normal rate even I drive inside the car park with no more than 20km/h. Kris ask me the experience of my driving lesson in Hong Kong, my tears was out of control falling from my eyes. Yes, I'm super nervous and fear for driving. I think I can't do it. It's very hard in my mind. For day to day lessons, Kris not only teaches me the driving skills but also change my mind. He always encourage me to believe myself and let me know my standard. He is very nice and kind. He don't mind I can pass the test or not (because he believe I must pass it in a time). He only concern am I learn how to drive safety and keep this in relax. When you have his lesson, you will feel his passion for safety driving (yes, I need to repeat again, he keep safety driving in first priority instead of passing the test). Yesterday, I pass my driving test. My tears falling from my eyes out of control again. However, this is a happy tears. This is the evidence for the success of my hard work and the miracle that I'm confidence for my driving without scare and fear. Hope you will be the next confidence safety driver. Cheers.

I am very luckily that my friend introduced you to me when he knew my previous instructor not good and made me upset. When your teaching, you gave me many many chance to learn everything, you teach me a lot, more than the test required. I am always do wrong thing again and again, you forgave me, teaches me and encourage me again and again very politely every time. Even for bay parking, you teach me more than hundred times, finally I am successful. How amazing for your teaching and how lovely you are. I remembered that you sing songs let me to relax. Fantastic experience: Years ago I had failed the manual driving test using a couple of instructors, this gave me an anxiety towards driving or even trying another instructor I had also been newly diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at that time too so I hadn't even thought about trying again for years, in June I was put in contact with kris who helped me over come the anxiety I had about driving and to feel comfortable behind the wheel a comfort ive never had before, I passed my automatic driving test today thanks to the help guidance and knowledge from kris hes full of information and has a wonderful personality, I also received access to an app to help with my theory test at the beginning of my lessons which really helped get me the pass I got. I couldn't recommend anyone more than kris, he has a passion to get every one of his students passed. Again thank you kris for everything.

Fantastic experience: Having failed previously, I don't have much confidence in driving. Its my first time with a signing instructor, Matt, and he gave me access to the lots of driving knowledge, rules and tips. And I passed this time around, just with 2 minor faults! Big thanks to Matt!

Fantastic experience: Apologies for the delayed feedback! But I definitely had to post this. The driver training experience I had with Kris was exceptional. His style involves not just training you but also boosting your confidence (mind you, not over-confidence), which is so very necessary for the driving test. I had driven earlier and was kind of aware of the road rules (due to the theory test), but it is a different game when it comes to actually driving on the roads of UK. Grateful to Kris that he agreed to take me in with very less time at hand. While the pact for agreeing for my late entry was that I would defer my driving test if I did not meet his expectations, he put in every bit of effort to ensure that I was ready for the test in time. And there… I passed the driving test (automatic car) at the first go. I strongly recommend Kris if you are looking for a friendly trainer and definitely someone with whom you can train you while also building your confidence to pass your test first time right!!!! A big Thanks to Kris!

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Kris. I had experience with different instructors in the past. It took my time, money and all of my confidence as a driver. I gave up on manual driving. Driving automatic was like was lift taken of my shoulders. From first lesson I knew it was good choice. Kris knew exactly what to say exactly when I needed him to do so. He knew from his experience how to help me and build my confidence back. He made me believe in my self.He was always reliable and encouraged me. I passed FIRST time with zero faults after not many hours with Kris, after 2 years of straggle with different instructors. So don't waste your time, money, nerves, don't lose your confidence , go to Kris, he is the right person in the right place, and pleasure to work with.

Fantastic experience: Paul is a great teacher. I failed my test 3 times when I was younger, then developed a disability and didn't drive for over 15 years. I wasn't sure I could drive but Paul quickly got my confidence up. He gives very good practical instruction and tips for the trickier things like maneuvers too. His friendly style helps you feel relaxed. After some months of lessons with Paul I passed my test at the first attempt and feel like he's taught me to be a safe driver. Definitely recommend, especially if you have a disability.

Fantastic experience: I had my driving test at Colwick test centre, Nottingham today. Thanks to my excellent, patient and honest driving instructor Kris. I passed my driving test first time. I am 42 years old and I thought I will never learn how to drive especially after certain age. I was wrong obviously. I strongly recommend Kris to anyone who want to learn how to drive safely and properly. He is very direct, honest, reliable and patient and encouraging and I was lucky to have Kris as a driving instructor. Learning how to drive safely is relatively long period. People who are around my age or older, if you want to learn how to drive or if you’re already having lessons but feeling less confident, please do not stop believing yourself. Please be patient and leave yourself into capable hands of a good driving instructor. It took me a little while to boost my confidence, but I did it in the end- thanks to Kris. If you’re looking for a good driving instructor please also avoid going for cheep driving instructors who charge you a few pounds less than other well established driving instructors. You may think that you save couple of pounds in each driving lessons but unfortunately you do not. Finally, thank you DRTN driving school for appointing Kris as a driving instructor for my lessons.
