Negative experience: did my CBT with these around 10-12 months ago and was shocked at how an operation like this can still exist in today's world. Firstly myself and 2 others (1 young lad 1 older gentleman) were gently teased on personal appearance/size/implied sexuality, this is all fine as it was taken in jest. We did our "yard" riding section and this was done well, however upon the visual checks the daughter of the owner decided to get rather snarky with us when i highlighted that "2 fingers up 1 finger down" was not a rule still being passed on from tech schools (it all depends on the bike, chain gauge and link count). This was fine and I would not have made this review had this been the only niggles. On our road test portion of the day in front of us all was a man learning to drive in a small hatchback, he took a left and clipped a curb, which in itself was quite funny, we all make mistakes. Kelly the owner notices the man is of African Origin, starts putting on an accent that can only be described as a racist caricature of what that man may or may not have sounded like, with a sprinkle of monkey noises thrown in with comments of how he shouldn't be here if he can't drive. I'm sure she found herself hilarious in that moment, little things please simple minds. When leaving for the day the attitude changed somewhat as I'm sure Kelly was aware we were not amused by her homophobic, xenophobic and all around bad attitude, telling me to call her as soon as i get my theory test done so I can complete my DAS with her (where the most money is made for an instructor/training centre), I ended up going to a different training center where my instructor (who was better in every way by a country mile extending patience and really helpful knowledge to get us over the line with our full bike license, and most importantly just a sound bloke!) had actually worked for Kelly in the past and confirmed that I had not exaggerated, and that she was awful to work with. I'm writing this as a warning to anyone without thick skin, you might end up having a bad day here and might walk away learning very little, I managed but when there's much better at a slightly higher cost, it's worth spending the extra dough. **UPDATE** this is not a fake review lol, I completed my CBT through Mantis and decided to give them no more of my hard earned money. How would I have such detailed experiences from the day if I were rejected service, Kelly?

Fantastic experience: Honestly the funniest and most informative riding experience so far, a really fun time and very constructive feedback. Passed my A2 first try both mod 1 and 2 with only 1 minor :O Would wholeheartedly recommend, definitely worth the money. Will do my Full A licence there when able.

Negative experience: Woman was rude on the phone when I called and they didn’t send confirmation email until 7pm the night before when i’d booked a month in advance this left me no time to get anywhere to get the equipment required as stated in the email and resulted in me losing my deposit

Fantastic experience: After being totally let down by another training company i contacted Kelly, and I am so glad I did! She was an amazing instructor! Made me feel totally at ease and explained things clearly and to the point. I will be going back to her for all my future training! Can’t recommend enough!! 5⭐️

Negative experience: Called up to sort out a booking of a CBT and the lady who answered the phone was unmistakably rude and demeaning, was sarcastic with every sentence she laid out and constantly made me feel inferior. Had heard from others that she was rude however thought I’d give it a go. Now I will be taking my business elsewhere as I don’t want to take my test or give any money into a corporation that mistreats it potential customers. EDIT: Due to the fact that I cannot reply to the owners response I will edit this message. I called in to make the booking which was £50 more than on the website coming at £150 which at first shocked me but I was happy to pay it. I then heard the soonest was the 27th of July to which I was happy with however due to the fact that the questions they were asking were spoken in a sarcastic tone I couldn’t understand. Me asking her to repeat it made her quite agitated however if she had been happy to help she wouldn’t have used such a demeaning tone. I explained I had never done one before and she still treated me like I was inferior, all I wanted to do was take my test however due to the attitude I got on the phone I took my business elsewhere as I didn’t want to actually come in for my test and deal with a naggy lady all day. Absolute joke of a response to me seeing as none of it was true.

Fantastic experience: If there were 6 stars I definitely would give 6! Kelly was absolutely brilliant! I took the biscuit a little as I had to get my full bike licence as quickly as possible due to starting a new job. Kelly was extremely kind and helpful and managed to fit me around her other lessons and responsibilities which I am extremely grateful for and wish I could pay back! I passed first time only because of Kelly's training and unlimited knowledge, teaching me to drive to pass the tests, but also how to ride properly and safely out in the real world with methods that I will never forget! (Progressive braking and emergency stops still make me laugh!) Kelly is a proper laugh and is only rude to those who deserve it! I had previously completed my training at a different school that taught me the wrong things and took 2 days to complete a 6hr CBT course on over 20 year old motorbikes that were falling apart and I left with no confidence in riding. Kelly and Mantis was the complete opposite! I would recommend Kelly and Mantis to anyone! UPDATE!! DVLA and DVSA messed up my licence and I didn't seem to get anywhere with sorting it out. Kelly was amazing as always and sorted it out 2 weeks after I had passed my test without batting an eye!! 7stars now, honestly anyone looking to do their motorbike licence should go to Mantis

Fantastic experience: Well, I have done 3 cbts with Kelly, and there were no issues. And now I have completed my mod 1& 2 over the past 3 days, and I wish I could have stayed out longer riding with Kelly. It has been a great experience and lots of fun. Fantastic experience: I passed my CBT with Kelly and Carl’s help. I was a complete novice, but really enjoyed my day and left with a desire to progress to the full licence, but have taken her advice to get some experience on a 125 before booking the DAS. I pick my new bike up on Monday. Yes, she swears and takes the micky, but she’s a biker and really knows her stuff. I’d highly recommend Mantis to anyone

Negative experience: Nothing but issues. Cancelled on me which then I had to cancel my bike insurance for Kelly to ring back few hours later to say its not cancelled now. She is mouthy and would not refund my deposit even though it wasn't my fault. Few people who have used her complain about her speed. If you want a hassle free bike test then don't use this company!! Enjoy my deposit Kelly, you need it more than me!!

Fantastic experience: After being told by other companies to wait a number of months before any availability for DAS training, i spoke to Kelly at Mantis and im so glad that i did. Kelly worked effeciently to ensure my needs were met swiftly, and im now sat with a full motorbike licence (2months prior to dates that were given to me for training to even commence from other local schools). Kelly is a very likeable lady with a cracking sense of humor and i found our time together to be a wicked experience, full of humor and banter. Would not hesitate in recommending Mantis to anyone, and every time i put my key in my GSXR, i will be grateful for Kelly's training!

Fantastic experience: I found Kelly and Noi very professional and knowledgeable, they put me at ease as I haven't ridden a bike for many many years, may be some people question their teaching methods but I didn't find it offensive at all, I found it very positive and encouraging as we know there are some people out their who have no regard to other road users and that's what I found from Kelly her priority was to teach me safety and try and spot potential hazards out on the road and obviously how to ride a bike correctly, I passed my Mod 2 at the 2nd attempt, but my 1st attempt that wasn't down to Kelly and Mantis motorcycle training, that was totally my fault, I would just like too take this opportunity to thank Kelly and Noi for their hard work and encouragement over the past 5 days it was money well spent in my view, keep up the good work and thank you.

Negative experience: I wouldn’t want this company teaching anyone I know!!! Female instructor rude and swore at a pedestrian today in Herne Bay! Not a good look for this company or maybe they are all like that!!! Updated: While I understand the need to justify your rude and aggressive behaviour and there were witnesses you really shouldn’t lie about the event! Nobody stepped out in front of you! But if it makes you feel better to not be truthful just shows the person you are.

Fantastic experience: Booked a CBT course here for today and upon attending felt very comfortable and friendly with here and there banter that some could find crudish but over a brilliant experience, despite not feeling confident enough to continue upon letting the instructor (a lovely woman with very odd helmet requirements) she kindly got me to try once again and upon saying it again she was more then helpful, explaining where and why I may be struggling, what could help and was more then happy to welcome me back another time and offered one to one teaching which is marvelous. Overall an enjoyable and useful experience. Points for people debating to use mantis, for one, if you are someone with a very prudish sense of humor and find the meer mention of anything uncomfortable, these guys aren't for you, however if you are someone who finds being able to joke a comforting thing then you'll feel right at home. Two, bring the right equipment, do your homework on your gear and have confidence in it because they'll sniff out dangerous PPE like a bloodhound, they take your safety very seriously. Finally, wear warm clothes, I decided not to take this advice but 20 minutes in I regretted it, just trust your instructors, they're here to help you. Would overall recommend.

Negative experience: Found the instructor very condescending, arrogant and opinionated! Did not listen properly to the questions about the equipment that I had to bring along to the CBT due to Covid. Ranted about local bike shops when asked about recommendations on where to buy equipment locally. Dismissed everything I was trying to say about my previous motorcycling experience even before I completed my sentence. Thank god I did not book yet. Would have been one very long day on a bike listening to a grouch otherwise!

Fantastic experience: Great training from Kelly. Really clear and instructive and she helps you to understand how the ride a bike well, not just pass the test. So good that I passed my A licensed MOD1 (2 minors) and MOD2 (no faults). Couldn't have done it without her!

Negative experience: Very rude over the phone....I would not seek any advice or business with this company. Kept repeating herself "how may I help" not knowing who I'm speaking to or what company I'm calling. Didn't give me her name...and in the end declined my sons cbt course...what a way to run a business, Wet my pants laughing... I'm going to complain further more and waste ombudsmen time now... THIS IS NOT A FAKE REVIEW!

Fantastic experience: I did my cbt with mantis on the 20th of June 2021 and what a day. I started the day really nervous but was soon relaxed by kelly who I have to say is one truly superb instructor. I passed on a geared bike and was showed step by step exactly what I needed to more and much more. I will be booking my full test with mantis in the future and will recommend anyone who is thinking of doing there cbt. Thankyou kelly for a great day.

Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting service from this company, multiple cancellations for very unprofessional reasons, failed to make any form of contact when changing the time of the test literally the evening before and can provide no evidence contact was made, is dishonest and twists your words and after promising a £150 refund (which you don’t do unless you admit any form of responsibility for your actions) has failed to provide this but has taken a further £120 from the account !!! I strongly urge anyone to stay well away and get your test done somewhere else, extra 10 minutes to ashford is well worth it to avoid falling into the same trap! UPDATE: Kelly has now turned off Facebook reviews to try and cover up the fact she has been exposed on social media to be rude, careless, thieving and overall disgusting in both behaviour and attitude. I can’t believe this is a “business”, I can’t think of a better word than con artist

Negative experience: I don’t usually write reviews but feel like I have to due to the shocking experience I have received from this company, 1st oppointment for cbt test was cancelled 22:30 the night before saying the instructor had hurt there back, fair enough I thought and rebooked 3 weeks later, turned up 8:45 and was met at the gate to be told that I was an hour late, she claimed i received a text message saying start time changed, absolute lies, and needed to rebook again i another 3 weeks, obviously I was the only person there for a cbt and they didn’t want to waste there day not caring I have already taken 2 days of work to take this test and now need to take another day off, this place is so unprofessional. It would be well worth if you can travel to use another company. Further update the 3rd attempt to complete the course was also spoiled and cut short because the instructor was tired and needed to rebook again to finish it off, anyway the 4th rebooking and guess what another message received on the day saying she has family coming down and having a BBQ and needs to rebbook again, its honestly like ant and dec are going to jump out and say got you, now she wont refund or give a certificate or even rebook and threatened me with the poilce if i contact her again. oh yeh and facilities to train on are a house with an old tennis court, the place needs shutting down, dont go there.

Fantastic experience: After years of wanting to get my license I decided to get my CBT done for the 3rd time and go for it. I used Kelly for my CBT who put me straight out on a bigger bike as I had previous experience on the road. Unfortunately covid made may businesses close including Kelly's so I couldn't get booked in to get on with it. As expected when lockdown was relaxed, everyone rushed to get the tests done. Kelly managed to squeeze me in for 2 half day lessons, mod 1 and mod 2. Well, if it wasn't for her amazing way of teaching I wouldn't have passed them first time! She's exactly what you need in an instructor, praises you where your going well and comes down hard where your not! And that is exactly what I needed!! Thank you for everything Kelly, I cannot recommend you enough!!

Fantastic experience: A Mid Life Crisis some called it!! Out of the blue at 56 I decided I wanted to get a motorbike again. I hadn't ridden since 1980's and then only on L plates. Of the local training schools listed, Mantis was the first to answer the phone, they sounded ok so I booked my CBT for the following Sunday. A thoroughly enjoyable morning was spent riding slowly around cones and lines on what was probably disused tennis courts, then some theory and Highway code. Come the afternoon, we are ready for the open roads all kitted out with helmet, gloves, jacket, hi vis, radio - and I'm on a 600cc bike!! I couldn't have been happier. The instruction and encouragement through the headset from Kelly was infectious and informative. Funny little quips that I still recall - 'dog walker on the left - could be an extending lead'. 'Old person at T junction rolling forward - toot them - they may not stop ', 'look around the bend' 'look over the hedge'. All mixed in with funny one liners! CBT completed, I took and passed the theory test, then booked MOD1 & MOD2 with Mantis. Fair play to Kelly, by this time, we were going out on the bikes in very cold and wet conditions riding to both Herne Bay and Gillingham. I completed the courses and passed MOD1 & MOD2 in Herne Bay. Very happy with the service, the fun, the dedication. Would recommend them to anyone who is looking to learn how to ride safely safely safely on modern roads. In fact it changed how I drive a car too. ps -- I cant stop smiling every time I get on my bike an MT09 which was suggested by Kelly. Thank you.

Negative experience: Was very rude to me when I corrected her about something on Facebook and decided to attack my character. Overly entitled, poorly educated Karen with the “may I speak to your manager” attitude. Hypocritical of other companies enforcing perfectly reasonable Covid-19 measures when she herself enforces unreasonable Covid-19 measures. I needed a CBT to get to my job at a pharmacy and because that doesn’t count as a “key worker” I had to get a job in a restaurant closer to home. Will not be recommending anybody trains with Kelly, not that she’ll let you anyway!

Negative experience: Would not recommend at all booked a cbt test weeks ago said would pay a deposit over the phone when booked and was told to pay in full on the day as there card machine wasn't working had a text message 12 hours before my test saying it has been cancelled due to not paying a deposit when spoke to her on the phone she denyed saying to pay full on the day of test absolutely lair and very rude and sarcastic.

Fantastic experience: Excellent teacher. Great character. Kelly, the instructor is friendly and easy to speak with. Giving you invaluable lessons, calm and structured but firm when necessary. She is a good judge of character and able to tailor the lesson to your purpose for learning motorcycling. I was nervous due to lack of experience but felt reassured about safely riding on the road. I had good fun, thank you.

Negative experience: Dissapointed. I had no one to one time with the instructor. The entire two days comprised of revolving around a another candidate. The only genuine one to one time I had was on the morning of my test where I had approximately 15 min to master the module one maneuvers. I also found Kelly's approach to teaching far too critical for my liking.

Negative experience: Turned up on time, difficulty establishing that I had an appointment, turned away for a half hour as instructor not back yet, then I was telephoned before my return to hear that the instructor was not available at all. Could not see any training facilities from the front of the Westbury House address? Reply to very late response by Mantis Never went back, understandable ?

Negative experience: Horrible. Very rarely reply emails. I phoned several times( instructor never available, given contact number to call me back, never happened). Spoken to Kelly once over the phone. She was rude, sarcastic, unprofessional, not even listening you words. Sent her an email to clarify what happened( never replied). I wouldn't recommend my experience to anyone. ----------------------------------------------------- I wrote this review 2 years ago, And now someone replied with 100% fake information. That's not what happened at all. I am very surprised how you can lie, especially that way. Very Sad. Or maybe you confused this review with a different client... Fantastic experience: 5* service, competed my CBT and DAS with Mantis and couldn't fault them one bit, quirky, full of laughs and proper training. Made to feel at ease and couldn't ask for anymore. Fantastic experience: Have done my cbt and Passed my a2 license with 1 minor thanks to kelly! She does everything 'by the book' and is very professional. I wouldn't suggest any other instructor. She is the cheapest for tests and cbts in the area also! Very lovely lady to be around and makes lessons very enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: I went to Kelly as a complete novice and in reality a little scared of bikes. Kelly and her team put me at my ease with a perfect mix of technical competence and humour. I passed CBT first time and enjoyed my day with them immensely !

The hard work she puts into her work really shows, several of my family members have all learnt with Kelly one of them being disabled and she still managed to get him to pass would recommend her 100% she's amazing !!

Fantastic experience: Learning to ride with Mantis was a great, and more importantly, fun experience. If you want to be taught and have a smile in your face I can not recommend this place highly enough! Kelly's instruction was top notch and was able to quickly identify and rectify any issues. Every day was spent on the road coming across real life situations and learning how to deal with them appropriately. This allowed me go from a complete novice to having a full licence with the confidence to ride on the road. Thanks Kelly and Roy!
