Blackpool Driving School: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Passed first time with Dan, fantastic instructor would recommend to absolutely anyone, thank you mate
Fantastic experience: Very good teacher was Mike passed first time cheers folks
Negative experience: DO NOT USE!! Will encourage you to do a test, then act like stevie wonder when it’s time to book another and make out they never said this. Norrie shouldn’t be a instructor, she is highly offensive with her comments on lessons and makes people feel uncomfortable with this! Shocking company and awful customer service!
There seems to be a theme here - another 1 star review from someone who has not had lessons with Norrie. If you can please give more specifics on your own personal experience we would be happy to offer some form of comment.
Negative experience: Very unprofessional driving school. Send you for your test, 0 minors but fail on parking so refuse to do another test with you even though offered to do another 6 weekly lessons before test, quoting not test ready, so why send me for my test then? Donna in the office is also rude, unprofessional.
Hi Stacey Clark - thank you for taking the time to leave a review. This however seems to be a false review as you dont appear to have been a customer of our driving school and you have never spoken to Donna - so we are confused as to how you felt her rude or unprofessional ? If you would like to offer the name of the instructor, when you were taught and any specifics that can validate your review we would be happy to comment.
Fantastic experience: Amazing driving school! My instructor Simon was lovely he was really patient and a fantastic teacher. So much so I passed with no minors. Thank you once again Simon and BDS. Would 100% recommend
Thanks very much for the feedback - I will pass this onto Simon. Happy and Safe Motoring
Fantastic experience: Driving school is very flexible and good value for money compared to everywhere else, passed on my first time!
Negative experience: I was deceived by being told that i was in good hands, only to be treated not like a student, but someone who is meant to be an advanced top level skilled driver then thrown aside as if i am just a cash cow, money grabbers treat ppl inhumane. I was taught to keep hand on to the gear stick at a junction to slip into 2nd gear immediately meaning two hands are not on the steering wheel when turning the corner, which is a deviation from what I have been taught, as an experienced learner, honestly? I would l would recommend ppl Google the article DRIVING SCHOOL SCAMS AND HOW TO AVOID THEM, as with these l feel that l was definitely not in good association.
I am really sorry you felt the need to leave a negative review. You booked a 15 hour course, which is meant for someone who is almost at test standard . We geared your training to that level as that is the course you booked. Whilst we appreciate you have had a lot of lessons elsewhere, if you felt you wanted more instruction, or instruction at a more basic level you should have considered booking a longer course. You even said to the instructor that you felt you needed more hours and you said yourself that you were not ready for test. He agreed with your comments and went along with your requirements.
We aim to get everyone to test standard in the time they have with us. It is unfortunate that you booked the wrong course for your requirements.
Our instructors have many, many years of experience and we get 100s of people training , and passing with us each year. We are a driving school NOT a booking agent and we train all our customers on a 1-2-1 and personal basis.
We wish you well with your future lessons.
Fantastic experience: I would recommend this driving school highly I was very nervous and anxious since it was highly important for me to achieve a pass for my business which requires essential transport, I arrived in Blackpool and spent one day with Liz my driving instructor and she was absolutely magnificent she tactfully, intensely and professionally drilled the major faults and mistakes I was making into me, she was very patient and put me at ease instantly, the result was the next day I passed my test, thank you BDS and Liz for changing my future in more ways than you will ever know...A truly brilliant school of excellence in driving tuition I passed first time and ecstatic with the result *****
Thank you for your review, we are pleased that you enjoyed the course and of course passed first time.
Negative experience: My Son had lessons with Liam but after 20 lessons I feel like we have been conned. Liam would drive the first 15-20 minutes to Fleetwood from Cleveleys then back with 20-30 minutes of actual driving time. After 20 lessons block booked my Son had not even reversed the car. We now have a new instructor and after just 2 lessons doing manoeuvres, reversing and driving for the full lesson. Also being given clear instructions and feedback each lesson. I would not recommend unless you want to pay for lessons ongoing,I also know someone else using Liam that has had well over 30 lessons with a similar lack of progress.
I am sorry you felt the need to leave a poor review. Had you spoken to Liam or the office about your issues I am sure they would have been dealt with. I will look into the situation personally. We wish your son well with his future driving lessons.
Fantastic experience: I would 100% recommend BDS to anyone, I'm so happy I passed with my instructor Mike , I booked 15 hour intensive course and passed my test first time with Mike. He was always very helpful, kind and patient . Whenever I became nervous he made sure to put me at ease . I cannot thank him enough for everything he's done for me! Once again it was all thanks to Mike and BDS, thank you!
Negative experience: I went to Blackpool for a weekend course aiming at taking a driving test on Monday noon. My instructor was Mike. At first he was good, explained well and I learned new things. Later I discovered he doesn't listen and doesn't show any flexibility. He lost his patience, became rude and disrespectful. At a certain point I realised not only he wasn't helping me to drive better and get more confident, he was doing the complete opposite. I stopped the lesson saying I wasn't learning anything anymore. He asked me why I had failed my previous test. I started to respond when he said he wanted to see the sheet I was given by the examiner. I said I did not have it with me and he accused me of not bringing it (Nobody had asked me to bring that sheet with me) and saying he would only believe that sheet. It started to feel like a nightmare. He told me all driving instructors are good and if I don't drive well it's my own fault. He also told me he was not letting me do the test because I did not comply with the requirements. I was so upset when I returned to the B&B that I decided not to let him abuse me any longer and although I did not receive all the hours I had previously paid for I decided to leave. I checked out and returned home that very evening. Mike proved to be extremely unprofessional, and I wouldn't recommend him as a driving instructor to anyone.
I am sorry you felt the requirement to leave a review.
I have spoken to the instructor and it appears that you booked the wrong course for your requirements, you needed far more than the 12 hours that you booked to enable you to reach the DVSA test requirement.
We stipulate very clearly from our initial phone-call and in all our emails and terms and conditions that if you are not a SAFE and COMPETENT Driver and you do not reach the standard as required by the DVSA and that you will not be submitted for the driving test.
You made a comment that you thought Mike was a better instructor that your previous ones, Mike mentioned that ALL instructors are there to assist the pupils. He asked about your previous test sheets in an attempt to establish where you failed last time, to see if he can help rectify the mistakes made previously.
The instructor has informed me that once he informed you that you fell short of the DVSA requirement that you got very abusive towards him and starting insisting on going for test saying “the worst that can happen on test is the examiner would stop the car to prevent an accident” , Mike explained that you are still learning to drive and should only consider taking a test when you have attained a good standard as a driver and are safe to yourself and other road users. Mike suggests you take some time out and reflect on your responsibilities as a driver.
Please understand that Mike has many years of experience as a driving instructor and always gives 100% to his pupils as you can see from other customer feedback and reviews.
We wish you well in your future lessons.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing!! I had Paul as my instructor and he couldn’t have been better! He was lovely, professional and also a good laugh. Especially being deaf, driving was always going to be slightly trickier for me, but Paul made sure I knew what I was doing and how to do it, making it clear step by step!! And I passed first time!!!!! Thank you!☺️
Fantastic experience: Lessons with these guys are absolutely worth the investment. Definitely recommended.
