Golden Mile Driving School

Fantastic experience: Decided to go with golden mile driving school for a 3 day course after them being highly recommended. My instructor was Darren. We shared 3 days at 5 hours a day together getting me ready for my test, which I passed. Very professional and friendly, after an hour of being with Darren I was fully relaxed and confident things where going well , had test on the 3rd day and could not thank Darren enough for getting me test ready. If it’s something your thinking of doing then golden mile in my opinion is the company to go with. Good value for money and very experienced instructor. Fantastic experience: Well, what can I say. After being let down by another intensive training company, Golden Mile stepped in to save the day. I waited 4 months for this course and it didn't disappoint. Paul was very meticulous with all the preparations and ensured I received the best on road training from them. So, on my first day, I was greeted by sami, a larger than life character, we were cracking jokes from the off, I knew then, we would get on for the next 7 days. Very calming, very positive outlook on driving, not what I expected at all, I've had some bad experiences in the past. Not only was Sami praising me for what I did well, he would also not hold back in telling me off (in a good way) of what I needed to improve on. If it wasn't for sami and his enthusiasm i could have let some self doubts take over, but with a good talking to, that soon abated. Sami, I thank you for all that you told me, taught me in those 7 days. It's like they say, you never forget you favourite teachers at school, this is just the same. So, if you are procrastinating about driving, give golden mile a call I am confident, that these guys will put you on the road to success! 5 star rating. Fantastic experience: My son Christian 17, did the 7 day intensive course with Darren, and we cannot fault him.Christian passed his test first time with 1 fault and this just shows the patience, knowledge and skills Darren has to ensure he gets the best results. We can't thank him enough

Fantastic experience: I have just completed a 5 day driving course and passed my test with Jeanette, she was simply the best. I have never felt more at ease in a car and driving than when I was with her as she was incredibly patient with me and always positive about my driving. My confidence as a driver has grown immensely after my week driving with her. I would recommend her to anyone and I truly believe that without her there isn’t a single chance I’d be passed today. Jeanette helped me feel at ease again on the roads after a bad experience and ensured we had fun and had a laugh while still remaining professional and ensuring I stay calm and collected whilst I drive and also giving me the best advice possible. Fantastic experience: I just passed my test - I am happily endorsing Golden Mile Driving School to everyone. To my instructor Andy I can't recommend you highly enough!!. I travelled from Greater Manchester for the 5- Day Intensive course. My instructor Andy was a pleasure to have. He was incredibly patient, lovely, calm, and encouraging. Andy got me back to where i needed to be and the results speak for themselves. Thank you Golden Mile, thank you Andy and thank you Darren for the accommodation - Weeton House Guesthouse. I didn't have to run around searching for somewhere to stay during my lessons as the Guest house is associated with the Driving school - how awesome is that . Fantastic experience: I’d recommend golden mile to anyone, I had Darren for a seven day course and he was excellent! I’d previously failed my test twice and I’ve always been a fairly nervous driver but just after 2 days with Darren I’d gained so much confidence and knowledge. I passed my test with only 2 minor faults and could not be happier, thanks to Darren and everyone at golden mile.

Fantastic experience: Where can I start, I did a 5 day course with my instructor Jeanette and all I can say is she was really amazing, she was so kind, helpful and all around amazing, I did a 5 day course with her and she made the long days go so quick, I really appreciate everything she has done for me and helping me pass I never thought I could do this but with Jeanette it felt possible I would highly recommend this driving school and you’ll be very lucky to have her to intruct you I am forever thankful

Fantastic experience: Where to begin... It's funny, because I usually write these reviews speaking from the head, (as in logically), but in this review, I am very much speaking from the heart. My experience with Golden Mile Driving School was so much more than learning how to drive. It was about: what we all go through as learners and the instructors that get us through our self-doubt, our defeatism, and our lack of confidence and all the reasons why we have those insecurities in the first place. My instructors were more than teachers or mentors, they got to know me on a very personal level, because I realised quite quickly an "intense driving course" wasn't just intense for me, it was intense for them too. In my case, a tragedy occured on the weekend I arrived in Blackpool for my course. Andrea, who I consider a very dear friend and mentor lost someone very special to her, someone she loved very dearly. Her friend and co-worker, by the request of the owner, took over for her for 3x days, Sammy. He was meant to be going to London with his partner, but he didn't once complain, he only ever voiced support for his colleague and her ability as an instructor. He taught me confidence, the kind I would need for when Andrea returned. I must admit, I was sceptical of changing drivers, but I knew that Paul (owner and co-ordinator) and the team were doing the best they could and I could absolutely acknowledge that we are all human and we all know what it is to lose someone. Day 4 , rock on Andrea, an absolute warrior of a woman. She taught me ... she taught me A LOT! And not just about driving. She listened, she was empathetic, she understood immediately, I think, what I needed from an instructor and she performed her job beautifully, despite her own obstacles and disappointments, she still managed to help me through mine. She drove into me a self confidence and belief I have never felt or experienced before. When I was handed my certificate and the examiner told me I passed I turned round to her (she was my good luck charm in the car), and she had tears of absolute pride in her eyes, pride and shock I suspect . She spoke often about her past students and the annoyance of road signs not being painted properly, which had caught out past students on exams. Andrea really, really cares. She is a marvel and such a nice person, it makes me smile even now to know that good people like her are amongst us and she is everything an instructor should be! Thank you, thank you so much for everything. I would happily endorse this school. But take it from me, be prepared, put the work in and remember, your instructor isn't a miracle worker, if you drive like an eejit you will not get a license, listen to what they are telling you and look at your manoeuvres online so you have a basic understanding of them. Last shout out goes to Darren and Michelle, the guesthouse associated with the Golden Mile School. Darren the Co owner is also an instructor. Although him and Michelle were often busy they always took the time when they saw me come in from my lesson to make sure I was ok and to ask me about me experience on the day. It was really great to get that encouragement after the lesson ended, and the rooms were very comfortable and clean. It was INTENSE, but it was really amazing. I mean, I learned to drive in 7x days, how amazing is that!!? Thank You! ♥️

Fantastic experience: Did a 4 day crash course with Jeanette, she is honestly amazing. So calm and takes everything in her stride. Explains everything and shows you how to do each and every thing perfectly. She some how manages to keep you going even when your stress levels are through the roof. I also found Golden Mile the most responsive, professional and flexible driving school I approached - they agreed the dates with me before I paid - I cannot believe other schools ask for money before telling when you will learn! I would recommend Golden Mile to anyone, for professionalism, quality, price and an all round amazing service. I did a 5 day course and passed, even though I'd had lessons before - Jeanette taught me basics I'd not been told, she made me a much better driver, gave me confidence, and made sure I was test ready. Fantastic experience: I failed a driving test around 10 years ago, after many hours with another school and I hadn't had a lesson since. Although I had recently bought a car and had some experience re-familiarising myself with the basics I was questioning whether I'd taken the right decision to start lessons ready to be tested within 4 days, not really knowing what state my driving was in after such a long gap. From the first day, all my worries were gone because I could tell that my instructor Jeanette had everything under control and would get me there. She makes everything very easy, has a great attitude for teaching, and makes it feel more like you're driving round with a friend - a friend with dual controls! The tuition is exceptional, all areas of the test were covered of course and Jeanette was clearly very experiened with identifying not only any problems areas I may have with physically driving and rules of the road but also identifying ways I might trip myself up on the day with nerves/overthinking etc. The conversations about driving we had were almost if not more important for me than some of the actual driving. Even though this was an intensive course with the primary goal of passing a practical test, what I learned during the 4 days also prepared me for how I would drive without somebody next to me, in any car, and pretty much an hour after my test I gave myself a short trip alone in my own car and everything felt natural because I'd been taught not only to pass a test but also to drive, and that's what its about. A great experience all round. Jeanette is lovely and a brilliant instructor and it is organised very well, efficient, with a simple booking process. Anybody I came across from Golden Mile all had a good vibe so I don't think you can go wrong. Of course I passed so naturally I am pleased but if I had failed I would still have written this same review because you can not fault them. I would highly recommend Golden Mile to anybody. Fantastic experience: I booked a 4 day intensive course due to failing a driving test years ago and quiting learning since then. I decided to learn to drive in an automatic and was given Andria as my instructor. She was great throughout and made me feel ready and confident before my test date, which I passed. The course not only prepared me for the test, but for everyday driving, such as advice where to park near my house (busy) and also maneuvers such as 3 point turns. I highly recommend Golden Mile for anyone who is anxious to drive.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Golden Mile highly enough for my outstanding experience with them. I booked for a 2 day, 10 hr intense course (with prior learning experience) managing to pass first time . My instructor Mike was extremely helpful and patient with ironing out flaws in had with my driving as-well as making the 2 very long days fly by. Mike’s professionalism paired with his approachable and friendly manner meant preparing for my test was a lot less stressful. Fantastic experience: Golden Mile do exactly what they promise, you just have to do the same. - I passed on my first attempt, I’d never driven an automatic car, years since I was in a car. I was lucky enough to be paired up with Andy, he is patient, deceptively aware of your errors (haha) and very diplomatic and compassionate about how he surfaces them. I had the 10 day course, arguably needed 5 but, I wanted to limit the amount of luck I was reliant on, where skill and knowledge should exist on the day of the exam, we covered what we needed, and he beat as many bad habits out of me as he could with the remaining time. I’ve gained a full license and lost a friend aaaaaah, miss you Andy , can’t wait to drop my partner off for her adventure with golden mile. That’s it, they deliver, be honest with them, and yourself, you’ll be fine!

Fantastic experience: Had the best instructors in the game did a week intensive course with the good work of Andy and Andrea helping me with my nerves to get myself a pass with only one minor . If you’re staying in the hotel like me for the week you have your breakfast at your door ready before you start your day of learning . Fantastic experience: I had Jonathan as my instructor and he was the best, he explained everything in such a good way that after 3 days I learnt more than the endless hours I had with the previous driving instructor from a different driving school. He even gave up a Sunday to ensure I would be ready for my test. I have recommended him to friends, as he is the guy to get you to pass your test.

My instructor, Andrea, was patient and helpful but firm when she needed to be (which wasn't too often luckily!) It was my 4th attempt but very glad I persevered as I passed with 5 minors. Fantastic experience: I passed with Sami and he’s the best instructor I’ve ever worked with. Building confidence was my main struggle and Sami introduced concepts at a good pace over the crash course to stop me from getting overwhelmed. Fantastic experience: Firstly I just want to thank Paul Hornby at Golden Mile for helping me pass my driving test today I was a bag of nerves and felt very rusty on quite a bit of my road sense after not getting a lesson for quite some time in the area i live Paul soon snapped me out of any bad habits and flattened all my nerves an doubts He gives instructions in the most straightforward none sergeant major manner an really made me feel comfortable an positive towards passing! Fantastic experience: I recently travelled up from North Wales to do a 3 day Intensive course and extended test in Preston with Golden Mile. My instructor was Jon. I was very nervous driving somewhere I had never been before, after so many years not being behind the wheel after a bad car accident. After 2 failed attempts in my home town I had almost given up on passing and had gotten myself very worked up about the whole task before id even arrived at Preston.I needn't have been worried, Jon made me feel at ease as soon as we met. I was picked up and dropped off on time from my hotel everyday which made the whole experience much less stressful and taken to the train station after my test. Jon is a great instructor, I'd tried a few driving schools but found their teaching technique weren't working with my specific needs. If at anytime the 5 hour lessons were becoming overwhelming I felt I could comfortably tell Jon and was able to take food, drink and toilet breaks whenever I requested. By dinner time on my first day of lessons I felt completely relaxed and more motivated and determined about my test than I had in the last 5 years and was already excited about the next day! The gentleman who took my extended test was great too, I didn't feel under any pressure after 3 days of fantastic instruction and the hour and 20 minutes flew by. I'm absolutely ECSTATIC to say I finally got my test back after 2 failed attempts at the extended! I intend on bringing my daughter over to Preston towards the end of the year and book her in for an extended course. I think the level of teaching, motivation and how easy my whole solo stay in Preston doing my lessons and test was fantastic for the price in comparison to other schools I had contacted and can't wait to return so they can work their magic and get my daughter passed. If you're looking for a driving school, especially if you have specific needs or are a nervous driver I honestly suggest this is the school for you. Their great hassle free service, teaching technique, patience and understanding has given me great results and I can finally get my freedom back and back to work. Fantastic experience: After looking at all the great reviews, I booked a 5 day intensive course with Golden Mile. My instructor was Jon Wakefield and he was the best instructor I could have asked for. I have had lessons with different instructors in the past from other companies. I found a lot of them to be a bit controlling and harsh when making mistakes (which are a fundamental part of learning). Not Jon. Jon was calm, professional and funny. He believed in me and had my back. I failed my first 2 tests due to being nervous. Legs shaking. He never gave up on me and on my third I passed with only 2 minors. I wouldn’t ever ask for a better instructor and I’d recommend him 100%.

Fantastic experience: I had Paul as my driving instructor. Fantastic instructor and driving school, couldn’t recommend enough. Made sure I was at ease and comfortable throughout every lessons and my test. Very patient and kept practicing every aspect of driving until I felt it could do it. Paul was also very encouraging which helped me loads throughout my time and towards the end even I believed I could pass. I choose a 7 day course And thoroughly enjoyed every minute. That was mainly down to the efficency of the staff and my Instructor, Mike. Mike, was an amazing teacher, patient helpful and genuine. Fantastic experience: I have recently completed a 6 day course with golden mile, It was originally booked for 5 days but at the last minute I increased the course. Which was very accommodating and was very much appreciated!! My instructor was Andy who was great, he was patient and explained everything so that I understood, he was clear and precise. Fantastic experience: From start to finish the service these guys offered was outstanding. From offering free resources to help me pass my theory to the clear instructions given of how it would all unfold on my course it was all just amazing. Cheap price considering the level of service i received was second to none. Paul (who i booked the course with) was quick and efficient and helped me get the course and accommodation booked in advance. Jon (my instructor) was an incredible teacher who taught me everything about driving in around 40-45 hours of learning. If even an idiot like me can pass it shows the level of teaching from Jon was class (even though he is a man utd fan). Darren and Michelle were in charge of the accommodation that i stayed in and the place was immaculate i couldnt have asked for anything more from Golden Mile.

Fantastic experience: I started learning to drive with Darren before COVID-19 and continued until this week after finally passing on Thursday! Darren's approach can best be described as being supportive, patient and nurturing! Darren really has gone above and beyond to accommodate my preference of days/times and really couldn't have done any more to ensure that as well as passing I am a safe and conscientious driver in the future too!
