Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Al as a driving instructor! From the very first lesson, his friendly and reassuring approach put my daughter completely at ease. His calm and supportive teaching style was exactly what she needed, and he was always available to answer any questions outside of lesson time, which really helped her, too. We were delighted that she passed the first time with only two minors. He was the perfect fit for her, and I’m so grateful for the patience and commitment he shows to his pupils. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Al to anyone looking for a great instructor.

Fantastic experience: 100% would recommend Al as a driving instructor whether you’re brand new to driving or in need of some refresher lessons. Al is professional and a great guy that knows how to keep you feeling comfortable in all sorts of situations. Al was flexible to my needs and gave excellent verbal and written feedback for every lesson and every mock test. Thanks Al for helping me pass my driving test first time with only one (silly!!) minor.

Fantastic experience: My daughter learned to drive with Alan and I would recommend him to any parent or young person who are looking for an instructor. His friendly and calm teaching helped settle my daughter’s nerves quickly over the first few lessons. He provides written feedback at the end of each lesson which was very detailed and helpful for us to assist with practice in between lessons. My daughter even though she’s now passed will sometimes still message him to ask questions about driving and he’s always quick to assist. In a couple of years I’ll be putting my son to learn with Alan too. I couldn’t ask for a better driving instructor for my kids. Thanks Al!

Fantastic experience: Holy cow!!! See how long it takes this old gal to figure out how to leave a recommendation on a page?? Really though, as an American with over 30 years driving experience in the USA, and living here 17 years, I contacted Al for intensive lessons and he got me in and sat with me for lessons for my practical test coming up quickly..I was nervous...I almost always am but Alan Mcbain put me instantly at ease...although still being nervous, he continued to remind me to relax and drive as per normal. At the end of lessons always providing useful feedback and never once grabbed the dash in panic :-D day came for my practical and i passed with flying colours with only 2 minors before even leaving the car park with the evaluator..the rest was plain sailing with all suggestions and reminders in my mind from Al's tutelage all the way through and I could not have been more at ease....I would highly recommend Alan to ANYONE he's just so easy going so professional, and just simply the best...thanks Al! Me (and anyone in my car with me :-D ) appreciate your help with an urgent request for lessons. Best ever!

Fantastic experience: I passed with Alan 3 months ago. I had the best time learning to drive, it was something I looked forward to every week thanks to my great instructor. I am quite shy and a big overthinker but Alan helped reassure me and helped boost my confidence as well. If I couldn’t manage one week due to work, this wasn’t an issue, lessons were always suited around what worked best for me, which was great. Alan helped push me on but if he knew I was struggling with something he would take the time to make sure we practiced it until I felt confident and could do it with minimal to no help. I have told my younger siblings they will all be learning with Al when they turn 17! Can’t speak highly enough of Alan and would recommend him / his work 100 times over. :)

Fantastic experience: Al was flexible with timings of lessons and shifted dates and times to suit work/school commitments. Daughter passed first time with Zero faults first time and was over the moon. Al also helped to organise a driving test date to suit personal circumstances. Thank you Al for a great service and good luck to your future students . Our eldest daughter also had lessons with Al and passed first time with only 2 minors. Thanks to Al, mum and dads taxi service is now having a well earned break

Fantastic experience: Learning to drive in a new country on the opposite side terrified me, but Al was patient, calm, and always gave advanced notice for upcoming maneuvers. He keeps a lesson log book, so you get to take away a notes sheet with you after each session. Also flexible for lesson times to work around your schedule. Would 100% recommend Al, great craic and will even answer your random text questions. I passed my test the first time!

Explains things very clearly and lessons are very practically focussed, which is not necessarily the case with other instructors. Gives detailed written feedback after each lesson so you have a clear idea of things to work on.

Fantastic experience: Alan is a fantastic instructor, explains everything really well, gives plenty of pointers to help you improve and is a really nice guy to just have a chat with. I did around 20 lessons starting at the beginning of April leading up to my test in September, and thanks to Alan I managed to pass my practical test first try. Highly recommended!

He was considerate of times and locations and didn’t mind lessons starting/stopping from work or home, and he obviously takes good care to his business and his students.
