Fantastic experience: I never drove a car before. I was a bag of nerves when I first started driving. Paul was an amazing instructor who paid attention to details and believed in not just passing the exam but in training his pupils to become excellent drivers. He gives you his undivided attention and is always there to help and support his pupils with any questions and difficulties they may have. After training for a couple of months. Not only did I pass my exam in my first attempt but also gained a sense of awareness on the road as a driver and a pedestrian. I would highly recommend Paul’s driving school if you are looking drive an automatic car.

I have been learning to drive on and off for the past ten years, and had reached the point where I really needed to crack on and get through a driving test. Paul has been excellent in helping me along my journey. He is incredibly kind and friendly, but also firm and fair when needed. I passed my test today, after two failed recent tests, and the support Paul has given me throughout those knock-backs has been so important I helping me achieve my final goal.

Fantastic experience: Paul is a brilliant driving instructor, very patient and thorough. After using a different instructor in Norwich, I was left very disappointed and thought I will never pass the test. Paul was a life saver. He was very considerate and made sure I am ready for the test before I booked it. I have now passed my test and can’t recommend Paul enough!

Fantastic experience: My driving journey started typically at 17 years of age in a manual car, followed by 2 instructors and 3 failed tests, which scarred me emotionally, and I vowed NEVER to step foot in a car again. Fast forward many years, a dyslexia, dispraxia, and an anxiety diagnosis later, coupled with those pesky 'grown up' responsibilities, made me HAVE to try this again. Although, I did retain the NEVER stepping foot part - but in a manual car. This is where Paul came in. I now knew I needed to learn a little 'differently' to most folks (my downfall the first time around) and that an automatic car was my most comfortable option. After my initial lesson/chat with Paul, he reassured me my complexities wouldn't be an issue - he'd had previous experience with other pupils. This was exactly what my neurodivergent brain needed to hear. It wasn't an easy road, more of a slow burn, with tears from me (and him internally probably!), lots of commitment and perseverance (from both parties) and above all patience from Paul. He was able to come up with creative ways for how I could remember things and think outside the box to help me personally retain that information. I never felt rushed or pushed into anything, and I only moved on when I felt comfortable to do so. All of these things I massively appreciate and helped to put me at ease. I know a lot of people say,'If I can do it, so can you,' but I truly mean it. Driving was always something that eluded me, I felt like such a lost cause. But with Paul and patience, trust me, it's possible. I'm living proof! In summary: 10/10 would definitely recommend Paul as an instructor..........even though he doesn't like musicals.

Fantastic experience: My name is Nuriya and I had been learning how to drive with Paul for four months. I have passed my driving test today from the first attempt! I would highly recommend Paul as a driving instructor. Before starting my driving lessons with him, I had 3 instructors. But non of them can be compared to him because: 1. He explains things in a very simple and detailed way, so you can fully understand the topic. 2. He is very demanding but calm, which means that you are working together towards your goal in a comfortable and calm way - to pass the driving test from the first attempt. 3. Also, I like his sense of humor which helped me in many situations during our lessons. I wish all the best to Paul.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant driving instructor, I had put off driving for 12 years and finally had enough of the bus so I contacted Paul and got it over and done with. I was so nervous at first and he just made me do baby steps until I felt comfortable. He doesn't shout or make you feel awkward if you mess up! I have now passed with him first time after 40 hours with zero faults. He is a laugh and a good chat to make the drive seem normal. The amount of times that I would message him saying I was nervous, he would always reassure me and remind me that I could do it. If you believe in yourself you will do it!

Paul’s very patient and professional if you stick to what he tells you there’s no reason to fail I took my test at peachman way this morning with a lesson before hand in which paul settled my nerves and went through everything in preparation. 110% recommend

Fantastic experience: After being left in the lurch by my previous instructor, I found Paul and learning from him has been a wholistic one. Paul is kind and very considerate, he treats me as unique to my learning experience and not a one size fits all. He not only taught me how to drive but helped me work through my nerves and be able to pass my driving test. During lessons, he takes time to explain and support with helpful drawings (which tremendously helped me master my reverse bay park and other manoeuvres )and materials. Fantastic experience: After years of learning and failed tests, I started lessons with Paul and after only afew months i passed my test with only one minor fault. This was all thanks to Paul. I have had numerous driving instructors of the years and Paul is by far the best ive had. He is professional (but still up for a laugh) and most importantly he constantly teaches whilst out on the drive. Ive learnt so much. Great value for money. He has great indepth knowledge and lots of upto date resources so if things need explaining further hes great at helping you get your head round it. Hes also really patient and has never made me feel stupid for not understanding even simple stuff. I struggle with anxiety and Paul has really helped me with this too and has freely given tips on reducing driving nerves. I really thought id never pass my test but i did with Pauls help.

Fantastic experience: Well! What a time to learn to drive at the age of 42 - at the beginning of a pandemic! After trying two other instructors briefly, he was recommended to me by a friend and, straight away, I knew he was a better choice. Two lockdowns later and today I passed my test, thanks to Paul; his patience, guidance and perseverance saw me through. I never expected to pass first time. It's been emotional! He truly believed in me, and helped me push forward in life, to open so many more doors and options! Can't quite comprehend it has happened. The upshot is: if you don't believe you are capable, Paul will teach you that you are.

Fantastic experience: The best driving instructor I have had (unfortunately it’s sad to admit I’ve had 5 over the last 2 years) Having been with XL driving, chilled, Red, I thoroughly recommend Paul for those who wish to find a reliable, dedicated and honest instructor. Do not be fooled by the “big names” above- the instructors do not hold a common standard of quality for their work. It is pure pot luck- you may have a terrible instructor or a great one- so don’t read the reviews for the company itself as it doesn’t mean you’ll get the same instructor. I had a terrible experience with one of the companies which stressed me out a lot (company refused to get me a new instructor or repay me the owed block hours as the previous one decided to quit her job 1.5 months before my exam and kept the money) Finally finding Paul Harmes I managed to pass my test first time with only 2 minors in 1.5 months. He plans the lessons well and has amazing materials to support learning- his experience really shows. He is super efficient, and nearly always spent extra 20 mins before or after the lesson to go over everything, get extra practice , or to just reassure me! He literally goes the extra mile. His prices are incredibly competitive and excellent value- much better than the large driving schools mentioned above (again pot luck, but my instructors used to arrive on the dot and finish 10 minutes before the end). He also offers free car hire for your exam and a “no nonsense “ approach to driving. Finally, his car is amazing and definitely helped me pass! It has cameras all around and visual assistance , as well as various safety features , which none of my previous instructors had. This helps with parking and stability during driving at high speeds a lot - and the examiner was impressed! I would highly recommend him to beginner learners or those like me who have to switch instructors. Save yourself valuable time and money and choose Paul!
