Fantastic experience: I cannot thank Pete Wright enough. I first started driving lessons in about 2006! Six different driving instructors, three failed tests, and 18 years later, I finally passed thanks to Pete. Having more or less given up, I started taking lessons with Pete in February this year after my wife became pregnant and I had a renewed enthusiasm to learn to drive. He is extremely friendly and approachable and brilliant at putting nervous drivers at their ease. He is thorough, reliable, and patient. Finally, having all but given up hope of ever getting my licence, Pete has successfully mentored me through my test, and I've only gone and passed. The only downside is I shall miss our Tuesday morning drives together. Thank again, Pete.

Fantastic experience: The first time I contacted the driving school of motoring was at the end of this April, when I was looking for a driving instructor. I chose to contact this driving school because I was much impressed by its high passing rate and very good customer satisfaction. My choice didn't let me down. Colin replied my email really fast and he recommended Peter Wright to me. I can still clearly remember my first lesson with Peter. Not only is Peter a lovely person, but also his sense of humor in his teaching really boosts my interest for driving. Since then I looked forward every next lesson with Peter. He is such a kind, patient and more importantly, very professsional instructor. Peter remained a calm attitude all the time no matter what mistakes I made during driving. His help boosted my confidence. I am mcuh pleased to see the progress I made on each lesson with Peter's professional instruction. I took my first driving test in Basildon yesterday and the result is PASS. I kept the driving skills I learned from Peter in mind and maintained my whole driving safely. I was in the tears of joy. I can’t achieve this without Peter! My thankfulness for Peter is more than words can describe. Thank you very much Peter, you deserve 10 stars! Now as a qualified driver I can finally enjoy the joy of driving! I wish the driving school of motoring and Peter Wright all the best in the future!

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend Pete as an automatic driving instructor; his professionalism, constructive advice and friendly nature made me feel immediately at ease. He steadily built up my confidence being on the road, pushed me to challenge myself and encouraged me to continue at moments where I was doubting myself. I managed to pass first time in an area I was unfamiliar with and I would wholeheartedly credit that to Pete’s calm and thorough training and instruction.

Fantastic experience: Drive School of Motoring was my top choice when it came to learning how to drive. From other’s recommendations and reviews, I could not find a better driving school in my area! I also liked that they offered 2-hour lessons as their standard. I have absolutely enjoyed my time learning to drive with Colin. From creating a solid foundation of the basics of driving, to teaching complex skills needed as a driver, I have found his methods easy to follow and understand. Every lesson, I’ve been given amazing feedback on the progress occurring and it never felt like I was stagnating. The patience and understanding I was given as a learner driver was amazing, which helped me to relax and enjoy every bit. This has helped me to develop myself as a driver and to pass the practical test. I am happy to say that they have met my expectations and definitely recommend this school to anyone learning to drive. The lessons were always on time and the communication was top notch!

Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend Colin Lott of Drive School of Motoring highly enough. My son has had various instructors over a ten year period but has always given up and not got round to taking his test. With the help and support of Colin, he has just passed his test with only two minors. Colin is very experienced and patient, and he really boosted my son’s confidence. He clearly felt very comfortable with Colin and said he was the best instructor he’d had by far.

Negative experience: (Giving review on behalf of friend): So I believe Colin is an instructor who definitely has the knowledge. He knows what he is talking about. Seems very experienced and no question about their driving knowledge/understanding. However it is one matter having knowledge but it is another skill effectively transferring that knowledge and teaching someone a skill like driving. Colin's approach and style to teaching pupils is definitely not an effective one in my opinion. If you want an instructor who will shout at you (as in genuinely raise their voice extremely loudly), then he is your person. I am giving an honest review because this is what I experienced. I still recall a time when I questioned him about this approach of shouting at me. I did not like it and I really should have maybe changed my instructor from there. Being calm and understanding that a learner driver is going to make mistakes is something an instructor needs to understand. In fact, shouting is definitely not going to help the situation and I think it made me make even more mistakes. Additionally I think he is an instructor who will not even let you drive for a good period of time before pulling you over. In fact it takes half hour just to go through what we will be doing for a lesson. You learn by driving, not solely by you having a discussion with the pupil for a whole hour. If you want an instructor where you sit for an hour (bearing in mind you pay £30-32 an hour) then you shouldn't mind this. But I've realised that we were wasting sooo much time just parked up on the side of a road where we will discuss the most minor matter for around 10 to 15 minutes. There was a time when there was a slight mistake and instead just talking to me whilst driving, he pulled me over and explained this small mistake for 15+ minutes. He didn't even let me drive for 1 minute, and already pulled me over. This is an approach that is not effective at all. So if any pupil seeking to learn driving likes this approach, rather than an instructor who actually let's you drive continuously and practice, then this may not be an issue. But for me personally, I've realised this is not an effective approach. It's like saying you can teach someone to ride a bike by explaining things to them. You actually need to let the pupil do driving. Not constantly stopping them and having talks with them. Especially when the issue is soo minor. I think this was something he did continously with me. Do not get me wrong, there were times where he would let me drive for around 5 minutes, but then when I changed instructors, they let me drive continuously and always was calm and never pulled me over once. My new instructor recognised that you learn by doing (in this case driving), not sitting parked up for 15 minutes explaining such a minor matter. I hope all those seeking to learn how to drive bear this mind before making a decision. I want to help other people and so I am giving my own experience. Also, I passed 1st time and learnt sooo much more with my new instructor at a much faster pace. I realised the difference of not shouting, remaining calm, letting me drive continously and only speaking to me for short periods of time for minor mistakes. Hope this helps everyone. Again, I am not saying this instructor isn't knowledgeable but I am giving my experiences/opinions and trying to help other people seeking to learn how to drive with my review.

Fantastic experience: I have no words on how amazing my experience was with Driving school of Motoring ! I was really lucky to have the best in the world Peter Wright as an instructor , patient and understanding (we literally joked about everything so i did not feel any stress.) No matter how much you dont believe in yourself Peter believes in everyone he is one in a million HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDE ! (ps. Fantastic experience: i had peter wright as an instructor and he was the perfect instructor, patient and understanding and made me feel so comfortable learning and when i made mistakes we joked about it and corrected them rather then seeing them as bad things. i passed my test today with only 2 minors all thanks to him. highly recommend

Colin inspires confidence and has a very clear and concise way of explaining not only how to drive safely, but why driving in a certain way is necessary as well! Fantastic experience: If you want to learn from a great driving school look no further!!! I had the best instructor (Colin) he taught me from my very first lesson ever where I was shy and scared to death of driving to my final lesson where i would never stop talking his ear off and I was feeling confident in driving. I am glad to have had him as my instructor I heard other student’s horror stories from other driving schools and I’ve never had a complaint to make. the lessons were very thorough and he was patient with my learning style. I even had help with my theory test practise too it was so worth it for me. we would start our lessons with an objective then at the end we would debrief what we have learned from the lesson and then work on that next time. And on my test day I passed first time ! I am ever so grateful for my experience here ! Since I’ve passed I recently got my first car and it’s weird that there’s no one sitting on the passenger side telling me “well done” or asking me what the limit is on the road but I always imagine what could be said as I drive at times I’m honestly so happy I learned to drive here I wouldn’t have succeeded anywhere else.. and I’m glad that I was recommended by his past students (my friends and sister).. THE BEST !! I truly recommend !!

Fantastic experience: Extremely satisfied with the services provided by Driving School of Motoring. One of my friends recommended Colin as a professional instructor. I am happy that I want trough learning experience with this instructor. He is a real professional! Always calm and patient, very clear and explicit. I came to the UK 3 years ago, and initially, I thought it was not the best idea to have an English speaking driving instructor because of the language barrier. But it was never a problem to ask him again if I wasn't sure about certain things. Colin was always happy to help and answer any questions I was asking. I had never driven a car before starting my driving lessons, so it was a bit of a struggle from the beginning, and I couldn't imagine myself driving a car. Positive experience: I am Naveen from Basildon, passed the test recently, thanks to Colin. Colin wasn't my instructor from the beginning. Colin helped for my test as my other instructor was busy. He prepped me very well and believed in me in very short time just before the test. I was kind of waiting for 4-5 months for the test after my mock tests are over, thanks to covid, couldn't find the slots easily. Colin helped me in short notice for the test. Both Colin and Vasile (my first driving instructor) are very helpful and patient with me. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Recently moved from the USA to the UK and needed some help getting used to driving on the wrong side of the road. Colin was my instructor and was very detailed with the instructions while being very patient. Fantastic experience: A wonderful service from start to finish. The start up process was very professional and outlined exactly what I could expect of Drive School of Motoring, it also laid out exactly what was expected of me as a student. I was taught by Colin who always remained professional, yet always friendly to make me feel comfortable. Colin demonstrated maximum patience even when I was struggling to get the hang of a manoeuvre or two. Colin took the time to notice what worked best for me as a learner and taught me in a way I could best understand and benefit from. Colin always managed to encourage me and motivate me to keep trying when I found driving tasks difficult. If I didn’t get something right, Colin would not let me carry a defeatist mentality and made sure I succeeded in the end. I always left our lessons having achieved something and with a clear plan for next my lesson, detailing how I would go forward to achieve more and overcome areas I struggled with. Colin’s car was a dream to drive, completely kitted out with all the trimmings and even had the new car smell. Colin always had physical learning resources such as an IPad to show streetview of the roads we were tackling, a model car to demonstrate manoeuvres and several hand books. Once allowed to take lessons again after the COVID restrictions were lifted, Colin made sure everything was kept in compliance with COVID Safety, we wore masks every lesson, we hand sanitised before starting and Colin wiped the whole car down with antibacterial wipes before and after my lesson. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend any other driving school and thoroughly enjoyed my time with Colin and the Drive School of Motoring, who lead me to passing my test. Thank you Colin!! ❤️

Fantastic experience: Colin has a unique ability to convey information and give instructions in a simple way that can be easily digested, in any situation. He was consistently calm, collected and positive throughout all of my lessons which made me feel at ease from start to finish. Over the months I learned to drive, Colin was never late and didn't cancel a single lesson. I loved the way he supported my learning with various visual props and continuously gave feedback. I also appreciated him asking for my input when planning our next session whilst summarising the one we just had. - Nothing was to much trouble and his ability to adapted my lessons to suit my needs was impressive. I feel very lucky to have had Colin as my instructor. His commitment to ensuring my driving knowledge was sound and I had the correct mindset was most definitely key to improving my confidence and led to me passing my test, with only 2 minors. Lastly, despite of coronavirus he continued my lessons putting in place as many safety precautions as he could. Fantastic experience: I am a happy new driver thanks to Colin, it's down to his tuition that I passed first time. Colin's methods were practical and constructive, with clear instructions that I was able to understand. I liked that Colin would allow me to have a go first, then correct if nessascary. Fantastic experience: After having obtained my driving licence in France and being an inexperienced driver, I was very apprehensive about driving on the left in a left-drive car in the UK. I decided to book a couple of lessons with Colin. He is the ideal driving instructor: kind, patient, and with a good sense of humour. Fantastic experience: For many years (too many years to publicly admit) I had been saying I will upgrade my licence from automatic to a full manual licence, but understandably other life priorities took precedence. One day I was walking somewhere in Basildon and a red learner driving car passed me with a Google advert sign on the side and I must have taken note because about a week later, I Googled driving schools in Basildon and Drive School of Motoring (D.S.M) was one of the schools that popped up (it turned out to be that the red car belonged to Colin Lott from D.S.M). Fantastic experience: If like I was, you’re worried about the time it’s going to take to learn... without a doubt this has to be you’re first choice.... I just passed first time from 0 experience to a pass in just 4 months with Colin’s help!!! The methods he uses to teach are amazing, every technique or manoeuvre that needs to be learned can be broken down to basics so you understand everything in a way fitting to you!! Some things I was really struggling with was made so simple with a few easy steps and the patience Colin has along with the confidence boost he gives you while you’re on the road really makes him on another level of instructor!! Fantastic experience: I have recently just passed my driving test and I would love to thank Colin for all his help and support along the way! I honestly believe that I wouldn’t had passed if it weren’t for he’s consistent support, advice and guidance. He was very friendly and will make you feel more than comfortable behind the wheel! If there is any elements you are unsure with he will ensure that he goes over it with you again and again until you feel comfortable with it.
