Fantastic experience: Where do I start? Having avoided driving (for far too long!), I was an irrational bag of nerves even at the thought of being behind the wheel. From our very first lesson together, Jim was a greater listener and calmed my nerves. As many others have pointed out, Jim put me at ease, striking the perfect balance between talking all things life and driving. He has an excellent communication style and is always direct when delivering instructions. If I ever made a mistake, Jim would speak to me in a patient and kind tone, correcting the error clearly and in a way that I understood. In the lead up to my test, Jim continued to focus on the skills that I needed to improve upon in order to pass first time. I never thought I would say it, but I actually enjoy driving now! I can wholeheartedly recommend Jim - thank you again :)

Fantastic experience: After researching the instructors in my area, I decided on Jim since all the comments say that he's patient and nice. And the comments did not lie, Jim is the nicest instructor you can find :) He's always punctual and knows how to calm the nerves of new drivers (trust me, my day 1 was a very shaky start..) I am so happy that I now feel confident about driving thanks to Jim's encouragements and tips. Just passed my test first time with only 1 minor thanks to his teachings. Would very much recommend Jim as driving instructor!

Fantastic experience: Jim is the best instructor I could have asked for, he understood me and my difficulties, where as other instructors gave up on me and told me I had no chance of ever passing. Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test first time with Jim today. I only had lessons with him for 6 weeks but in this time my driving improved incredibly. I genuinely really enjoyed lessons with him and he put me at ease in the car straight away. Cannot recommend / thank him enough!

Fantastic experience: Tried other instructors before and wasn’t getting enough done during the lessons let alone the full lesson time. When i did lessons with Jim the lessons were really good, informative and i got really comfortable with driving and all the manoeuvres thanks to jim especially parallel parking which i hated at first!

Negative experience: Avoid at all costs, Jim just totally disappeared after 2 lessons and didn't even have the decency to respond to messages or emails. Feels like we dodged a bullet as who would want someone like that teaching their child.

Fantastic experience: I would say he could be the best driving instructor you may ever have in your life!! Jim is definitely the best driving instructor in the town. He always delivers the best lessons every time I learned with him. Every time you will learn something different and make your driving experience continuously better. He also make the lesson run comfortably, make you less nervous driving on the road. I learned a lot of stuff with Jim and pass my driving test within 3 months! Jim is a skilled and knowledgeable pro with loads of experience and a focused but easygoing energy that works wonders. I've had a number of driving teachers over the past few years, and he's undoubtedly been one of the best. Thanks to Jim's teaching I passed first time - what more can I say? Legendary stuff, and he even throws in the occasional 70s dad joke free of charge! In a nutshell: Very happy I chose Follow Us - one of the best in town. And I can wholeheartedly recommend this driving school to any other learners.

Fantastic experience: Automatic driving lessons in Reading. Jim's friendly chat, patience and encouragement will ease any nerves you might have about getting behind the wheel. He will have you drive around the area of your exam so that you are familiar with the test routes. He even has a couple of tips that will have you parallel parking better than your friends! Fantastic experience: His encouragement was second to none. He always told me what I was doing well and gave me useful feedback to help me to improve. His teaching style and approach definitely made me pick up the key concepts very quickly. Not like other last instructors only let me drive around where i live, he took me to Farnbrough which 30 mins away every lesson so i can be familiar with all the test routes. Fantastic experience: I definitely recommend Jim. I have tried a number of driver instructors previously, none of which compare to Jim. He is kind, professional and very knowledgeable. Jim personally went above and beyond for me to ensure I could complete my test. He obviously cares about his students and consistently goes out of his way for them. Fantastic experience: There’s no other instructor as great a Jim! I passed first time with him, he was always reliable to our lessons and he wanted me to pass from day one. Fantastic experience: Jim was super nice and understanding. He was so patient and calm in his approach to teach me, understanding my mistakes and allowing me to learn. Made me feel comfortable from the start which gave me confidence in my ability to drive. He taught me how to perfectly parallel park within our first lesson and improved my approach to speed breaks. He is very calm and will make you feel at ease, driving can be quite stressful and nerve wracking for some people but after 1hr in the car with Jim and you will feel more at ease. Fantastic experience: The best instructor we have. I passed the first time in Reading test centre. Jim keeps time. He makes sure you are calm on the road. He makes sure you go for the test when ready. My Sister passed aswell.

Fantastic experience: Jim is the best instructor I’ve worked with during my driving journey. I started learning to drive around 3 years ago & found Jim around 2 years ago after having been with 2 instructors already. Not only is he incredibly friendly and welcoming but he is the best instructor in the area. I’m a naturally nervous person and this of course extended to my driving , however Jim made me feel extremely comfortable and confident in my driving. He taught me how to parallel park in 15 minutes!! That’s all it took, 15 minutes, and I’ve never forgotten the way he’s taught me to. If you’re considering learning how to drive, look no further. Do yourself a favour and send him a message. Incredibly reliable, always on time, incredibly positive and friendly. You won’t regret it!!

Fantastic experience: There aren’t enough great words to describe how amazing Jim is! ( No he’s not paying me to say this) I have worked with 5 other driving school companies in the area and all of whom can not even come close to how great Jim is! From his customer service, kindness and most of all his experience- it is truly rare in this industry to find someone like him. He has always gone above and beyond for me and actually wants me to pass. My first lesson with him he took me to my test routes, and we got right to it. He will NOT waste your time, he’s always early and on time, he’s never cancelled with me, nor changed the lesson time last minute, in fact on several of my lessons he spent extra time working with me! SO if you have made this far into reading this review do yourself a favor pick up the phone or even just text the number and start you learning journey with Jim. I promise you, you will not regret it. :)

Fantastic experience: Ive had previous intructors that have been not the greatest but Jim is genuinely one the best intructor and friend i have met in a while! Hes friendly and a amazing teacher allowing me to pass first time in my driving test. I can’t recommend this man enough, hes just the best a teaching if you wanna learn!!

Fantastic experience: Passed today on my first time with little hours. It was a pleasure learning with Jim. He has a very positive and talkative personality making u at ease from any nerves during lessons and before your test . The car he teaches in handles very well and is perfect for learners. Jim actually let’s you drive rather than just stopping and “teaching “ this way you get way more comfortable and confident behind the wheel at a faster pace .

Fantastic experience: I am so pleased I took my lessons with Jim. He made me feel that I could drive. I am a very nervous person and Jim was able to put my mind at ease and I proved in the end that I can drive. He was very calm and even when I struggled he always reassured me that I can do it. I passed my test this month and it has taken me 2 years to get a test and I took maybe 100 lessons or more to have myself feeling confident and ready. Fantastic experience: Had a few driving instructors, however just did not get along with there way of teaching. The very first lesson I had with him he made me feel comfortable and instantly clicked with his strategies. His way of giving out information and pointers is top tier, not only did I pass first time but with 0 minors and I couldn’t thank him enough. Fantastic experience: I’ve had uncountable lessons with various driving instructors for the past yesrs. Sometimes I was really apprehensive. Just after the pandemic someone recommended me to Jim. I can boldly say that Jim is genius interms of driving lessons. He just made me feel so comfortable and confidence in my lessons. His lessons are 90 minutes long and the whole duration of the lesson I would be driving. Jim would never stop and explain my mistakes and waste time. If I did make a mistake he would take me around that place again so I get used to it and understand what my mistake was. Anytime I am down he brings me up. I wasn’t a surprise that I passed my test with 4 minors and that was a big achievement for me. I now have the confidence to drive. I am overjoyed and the word thank you is not enough to express my sincere gratitude to you for your support Jim!. I will definitely recommend you to all my friends. Fantastic experience: I was a terribly nervous driver, and had pretty much given up on the idea of ever having a license. Jim was so kind and patient with me, and really helped build my confidence - turns out I can drive after all! I passed first time with two minors after 5 months of weekly lessons :)

Fantastic experience: Jim is hands down the best driving instructor I ever had. I came to him, terrified of driving and very nervous, but it took him 1 lesson to completely spin that fear on it's head. I've just passed my automatic drving test thanks to Jim only a few months after starting lessons. I now absolutely love driving and will really miss having weekly lessons with him. Fantastic experience: I vowed I would never learn to drive. The thought terrified me and I successfully managed to put it off for over 20 years until circumstances forced my hand and I had no choice. I had to find the right person to teach me because I knew I was likely to throw the towel in if my confidence was knocked. I keep seeing a name crop up in Trust Pilot reviews so I requested the supposed angel from heaven Jim Whitbread… Thank God I did as it turned out to be the best thing I could have done. He was the perfect balance of calmness, encouragement, knowledge and humour, knowing when I needed to be pushed and knowing how to calm me down (no easy feat…). He got me through what I thought was the impossible, first time as well (!) and for that I will be forever thankful. I cannot recommend Jim enough, as well as teaching me to drive, he taught me some really useful pranks to play on my family. I really hope he will take me out for some motorway lessons next before it’s time to say goodbye! Thank you, you wonderful person
