Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test the first time with 3 minors on Tuesday 1st August 2023 which is testament to learning to drive under Ian's excellent tutelage! I stumbled across him in early December last year after a few unsuccessful attempts to find an instructor in Caversham due to rising demands for learner driving instructors in the area post-pandemic. Fortunately, Ian was available and took me on promptly. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a suitable driving instructor to choose Ian, for a number of reasons: firstly, he is highly flexible and can work around busy schedules, secondly his personal methods to successfully carrying out the four manoeuvres (forward/reverse bay parking, parallel parking, parking on the right and reversing back two car lengths) are fool-proof when followed correctly. Learning to drive is a huge investment currently, and he understands and appreciates that and never puts pressure on students to book lessons if they cannot come up with the money on time. Ian covers a wide range of areas (e.g. Henley, Caversham Heights, Tilehurst, Southcote, West Reading, driving on motorways) and I really appreciate that because the objective is to be a successful driver in general and, therefore, not limit driving to just test route areas. When carrying out an emergency stop, he took the time to explain the mechanics behind how an anti-lock braking system actually works in such a scenario (cadence braking) so he is equipped with a lot of knowledge. Ian also strongly emphasises the importance of early planning (including constant mirror checks!!) and road positioning which has thoroughly improved my driving. I consider Ian to be a confidence builder when it comes to driving and, albeit there were a few times when I felt nervous driving on busy roads, he did not come across as patronising and never gave up on me even when I constantly made avoidable minor errors. Finally, aside from learning with him, he a great person to chat with and we have had great conversations on various subjects of interest!

Fantastic experience: we needed to switch instructors after my grandson was having lessons with a driving school.They were spasmodic in their timings and available lessons. Since my grandson has been using Ian , he has enjoyed his lessons, and always on time. My grandson passed 1st time of trying- great result. would recomend to anyone

Fantastic experience: I had a great time learning to drive with Ian. I consider myself a nervous driver but was able to feel confident and competent enough to pass my practical test first time. This was despite driving lessons only resuming two weeks before the test (after a 3 month break) due to Covid. Ian is easy going and has a good sense of humour. I would definitely recommend Ian to anyone learning to drive in the area. p.s. Sorry for accidentally stealing your pen after the test Ian.
