Fantastic experience: Chris is a fantastic instructor. He was very supportive and patient. He was great at dealing with nerves on the day of the test and helped me develop strategies to cope. He worked hard at building my confidence before the test so I felt ready. I'm not sure I could have done it without him. You can tell Chris works hard at what he does. Lessons were tailored each time and he was great at listening and adapting his teaching as needed. He offered his support out of hours with any questions I had running up to the test and even now I have passed he is checking in to see how I'm getting on. I couldn't recommend him enough.

Fantastic experience: I swapped to Moose driving as my second driving instructor, as the first one found it difficult to understand how my eye condition affected my driving. Chris was incredibly kind and accommodating, always listening to how I felt my eyes impacted my driving and was always keen to find ways to improve regardless. Even if you don’t have any specific needs when it comes to driving, I would highly recommend Moose driving to anyone who wants to have a positive experience when learning to drive.

Fantastic experience: I would absolutely recommend Moose Driving to anybody looking to drive! Chris helped build my confidence and ability so much! It feels like barely any time passed between when 15 mph on a road where the speed limit was 30 mph felt way too fast, to now passing my test, but throughout the way I was supported the whole way through, with Chris building up with different and more complicated driving, while still ensuring I was comfortable and confident in myself every step of the way. I especially think his attitude to making mistakes, with the ‘tick-tick’ approach helped to keep me going and easily move on from mistakes, while still learning from them, which I think helped me improve massively as I was learning and even during my test! Overall I’m so happy with my experience learning and thankful for the expert guidance throughout my learning!

Fantastic experience: I had attempted to learnt to drive 2 times before I came to moose driving. I had assumed driving was just not for me, I hated it but with small children it was something I needed to do. When i learnt moose driving specialised in anxiety and i had my first lesson I felt this time things might be different. Chris was a fantastic instructor he was kind, fair, patient, a good listener and happy to answer any question I had about driving or anxiety. I have a busy life, anxiety and it took a while for me to pick up driving confidently but in time I started to believe I could maybe pass my test. Today to my surprise I passed my test! It is proof that with a decent driving instructor, hard-work and encouragement you can pass your test no matter how many times you have tried before. Thank you Chris for everything.

Negative experience: "The driving test isn't about memory of junctions and roads. It's about reading roads, road signs, lane markings and translating what you know to that moment in time with the road and the traffic" I was looking for a new instructor and that's the message I got from him. Well, I did explain I'd never ever driven through Bramcote Island or Bardills Roundabout or missing the entire Long Eaton test route. Those are not exactly "memory of junctions". I guess there're pupils who master those first time in their life during the test. A stuck-up, full of himself person. It's good you teach automatic, not manual. Thanks for the lecture but I'm 44, not 18, moron.
We're sorry that you don't agree with the DVSA, our view, Institute of Advanced Motorists, and ROSPA's view on learning to drive; that we "learn skills to drive any roads rather than learning individual roads and routes."
It's a method that has been working for decades and has saved lives.
After receiving a text message from you where you blamed your instructor from another company for your recent test fail because they hadn't taken you on a particular road and junction which you did on your test, we offered advice of which you above selected a small part in this review. Even though we were not able to take you on as a customer, we took time to try to help you and guide you with advice about driving, learning and how to check your instructor had the required license when making enquiries.
The advice given was professional, correct and in-line with any good instructor's advice.
We NEVER teach test routes and test roads. We provide skills to drive, so you can adapt to the situation infront of you in that moment and drive ANY road.
"I had no idea which lane to use to go where the examiner told me to." Is part of your original message to us. Our teaching provides you the skills to make decisions based on instructions. We teach the preparation involved approaching roundabouts and junctions by reading the road signs, the lines and arrows and being prepared early enough to react; to "do something safely". It's a mantra all of our students know.
Our students are also aware that on the driving test, the examiner is not after "pupils who master" Junctions. They are after safe driving, not perfection. If the driving isn't safe then it will receive faults.
These are the skills you need to drive on your own which is what the driving test recreates, on your own on ANY road and junction.
We DON'T teach which lane to use when asked to go a certain direction at a certain roundabout. These are not adaptable skills and will not allow you to drive anywhere and on any road.
We are sorry that this is not what you want when leaning, we are clearly not the right driving school for you and we are truly thankful that we didn't go beyond a text message with you.
Your reply via text message then included a torrent of abuse and profanity at which point we decided to end the conversation with you. Which you then decided to continue abuse because we didn't reply to it, despite A) Not being able to provide lessons in your area and B) No-one should be subject to the abuse and threats you gave.
Your review is based on a text message conversation where you repeatedly blamed your instructors from other driving schools for your driving test fails, where you only wanted to learn test routes and where you became abusive when given an answer you didn't agree with.
You have never been a customer of Moose Driving and have never received tuition from Moose Driving.
Those people who have received tuition and who have been open to the help, guidance & teaching they have received have had (at time of this review) an 82% pass rate with the driving test and we have received awards for our tuition year-on-year.
Our existing and passed customers have been thankful and rewarding and our future customers will make open choices based on what they believe is the right method for them to learn and develop to drive safely on any road and any situation as we teach or to look elsewhere if they want to learn single routes.
For any prospective learners reading this, if you are looking to learn test routes, we are not the driving school for you.
Fantastic experience: Chris has been a wonderful driving instructor. With his guidance and support, I passed my test the first time and in just eleven weeks. Chris has a great approach to teaching: layering new experiences and challenges when he knows you have the capability and confidence to do so. Chris is personable, friendly and knowledgeable. By communicating and co-operating for the greater good we were able to safely drive Lady Bay's narrow streets and meeting traffic from lesson 2.

Fantastic experience: Before I started with Chris, I was a very anxious driver. The calm, relaxed and encouraging atmosphere he creates in the car made a world of difference. Chris helped me to see driving as just something normal- nothing to be stressed about. With this mindset, I was able to progress with my driving skills until I passed first time. Fantastic experience: Chris has been the best driving instructor that I could have wished for. I started lessons a couple of years ago with a different instructor and had my confidence knocked. From just 10 mins of my first lesson with Chris I felt like I could do it. He has such a calming demeanour, believes in you and encourages you to face into your fears, often using logic and analogies to help you understand situations on the road. His strategy of ‘Tick tick’ has been a game changer for me and helped me focus on the moment rather than dwelling on past mistakes. I never thought I’d be someone that would enjoy driving lessons but I came home after lessons smiling, pleased with what I had achieved. With mistakes, I was never made to feel silly and Chris would always help me see that they are just things we can learn from. Also his tech set up is great! Dash cam footage to rewatch scenarios as well as an app to track progress and keep notes on lessons. I can’t recommend Moose Driving enough!

You have encountered some terrible weather and terrible driving conditions on your learning journey; your Multi-Lane Roads & Motorway work was tested to the max. I've pushed you to roads and situations to test you much further than the driving test and you now have methods to keep safe with these. Great work.

Chris is an amazing instructor with an immense amount of knowledge who constantly works hard to make each lesson tailored to the individual driver focusing on what needs working on but also making sure that progress is made!! Before Moose driving i would dread driving lessons but as soon as i started with Chris i felt at ease- he is calm, patient, kind and always there to offer advice. If you want to learn to drive you need to choose Moose driving!!!

Fantastic experience: Chris is an amazing instructor! His patience, calm and motivating approach has led me to pass my test first time, with only 1 minor After lots of stopping and starting lessons with various instructors, my confidence was at rock bottom and I felt that driving wasn't for me . I decided I would give driving one last chance and this is when I found Moose Driving. Chris has built my confidence up and I have gone from hating driving lessons to actually looking forward to them and will generally miss our lessons. Fantastic experience: When I first read Moose’s reviews I thought to myself “surely he can’t be that good!” but after my first lesson with Chris I stood corrected as he is an absolutely amazing instructor - he’s patient, calm, understanding, reassuring and was willing to take lessons at my pace. He never gave up on me even when I felt like giving up on myself and I am confident in saying I wouldn’t have passed without having Chris by my side this last month - he has not only taught me how to drive but also valuable life lessons which I will never forget (“tick tick”). Fantastic experience: Please, please make Moose Driving your instructor of choice! Moose is empathetic, catering to your individual learning needs, and emphasises the importance of teaching you to become a good, safe driver - not just teaching to pass a test. Moose takes it at your pace and provides the correct level of constructive criticism. He is your number 1 supporter in and out of lessons and provides resources and experience to help with passing your Theory and Practical Test. I had a negative driving experience when I was old enough to start driving and it knocked my confidence. I wasn't sure if I’d ever be able to drive with my nerves and cautiousness. Moose built it back up years later and empowers you, whether you have driving anxiety, anxiety in general, or any other disability such as hearing/deafness or dyslexia. I have never felt more understood by a teacher and my respect for Moose couldn’t be higher. He has always made sure to tell me how safe he felt being in the car with me which is the highest compliment as a learner. Driving lessons are expensive these days but worth every penny, especially with Moose. Thank you Moose!

Fantastic experience: Amazing driving instructor! Chris gets the right balance between giving you critical feedback and celebrating your successes. He's very thorough when going over your driving but never makes you feel daft for making mistakes, just talks through what to do next time. And when you do something well, such as handle a tricky situation, he always says well done and goes over why he liked what you did so much. Appreciated that he could bring up dash cam footage to look back at what you did well and what might have gone "wrong". I passed first time today with only three faults thanks to Chris!

Fantastic experience: After stopping and starting lessons and a couple of failed tests over the years, I found Chris and joined the waiting list to start learning with him. A short time later I was having my first lesson and immediately felt at ease, by nature I am a nervous driver. Around 4 months later I passed my first test with Moose. I can’t recommend Chris enough. Fantastic experience: I had a refresher driving lesson with Chris as it had been a little while since since I had last driven and had anxiety around getting back behind the wheel. Chris was massively helpful, helping me with every area I was anxious about (even when I threw one in at the last minute), and was able to describe exactly how I was feeling when I couldn’t put it into words. Fantastic experience: I passed my first driving test yesterday, which I can’t believe it will happen. Chris gave me a huge support and comfort in every lesson and I really enjoy it. Now I already miss the day he seat next to me. I’m so glad to overcome my anxiety and nervous during my test. Stay calm and remind yourself YOU CAN DO IT! Also have another person who believing you is Chris. He never give up on me and keep trusting me.If Chris is not my instructor I won’t be able to pass the test and keep driving confident. Fantastic experience: Every time I had a lesson with Chris I was made to feel at ease, which helped instill a growing and lasting confidence in my own driving abilities - a confidence which I was able to demonstrate on the day of the test leading to me passing first time. Fantastic experience: Chris has made me be able to become a confident driver in a very welcoming and safe environment. Being a very anxious, self-consious driver he listened to my needs, wants and worries and made them dissipate every lesson we had. Fantastic experience: I recently passed my driving test through Moose driving (which I still find surreal!!!) and honestly Chris is absolutely amazing!! I went through 2 different instructors before contacting Moose driving for lessons and was a really anxious driver. Chris was so patient with me and not only made me a much more confident driver but he also really helped me with my self belief. Fantastic experience: Sometime in life you meet somebody who is an exceptional human being ! In my 80 years on this planet I can truly count on one hand , those people I’ve met. Chris from Moose Driving is one of those people ! He took my Chinese wife and with patience and professional understanding turned her into a very proficient driver who passed her test with zero points lost. I was amazed at how her confidence grew as the lessons went on . All this in English, which obviously is not her “mother tongue “ Chris your a star !!!

Every driver is a different person, everyone is treated as an individual in the teaching methods used so driving makes sense to them.
As someone who is hard of hearing, I read faces. Not just lips for the words but all of the face and breathing for feedback on how a student feels and what they are thinking. This works in any language and enables me to understand the student before words are spoken.
As someone who finds speaking another language an impossible task, it continues to amaze me that many of my students are not only learning this difficult skill, but in a second language.
I wish both of you the best in your futures; and so glad I could be part of your lives.

Fantastic experience: Chris is definitely the best driving instructor you will ever have. He is very patient, explains everything well, he doesn’t just teach you on how and what to do, he shows it to you as well. He will teach you not to focus on the negatives and will always tell you to think of all the positives that you’ve done, giving you confidence again. Unlike my 2 previous instructors, I am not afraid to make a mistake with Chris, he makes me feel comfortable and made my learning easy. Fantastic experience: A real pleasure to have had the chance to complete my driving journey with Chris Allsopp at Moose Driving. ...and what a journey. It was an honour to be the person who could fulfil that dream which had been paused since 1980 - to pass your test.
Started with a "give it a go" attitude which advanced to "I might be able to do this" and finished with a quality pass two days before Christmas.

Fantastic experience: Chris is a great instructor. I always feel supported whilst driving and able to take my time when learning something new. Chris offers great support during lessons but also between lessons with his Facebook group where you can always learn something new. I would definitely recommend Chris to anyone wanting to learn how to drive automatic!
Aww, thanks. Learning to drive isn't just 1 lesson a week, it needs to be part of life which is why I created Moose Driving Synergy; a whole collection of resources to help you learn. A private Facebook Group, YouTube, Theory Test software and even our own app for lesson progress.
And the mental support and encouragement is something that applies throughout. I'm always honest, will not hide the negatives, but help to highlight the positives too.
