Topclass Driving School

Negative experience: I highly recommend avoiding this driving school at all costs. My sister, a student who had purchased bulk driving lessons, passed her test with 2 hours remaining from her 10-hour package. However, despite several attempts to contact them, they have failed to refund the £62 owed. To make matters worse, when we reached out to her instructor, Gary, he dismissively claimed, “I’m sure some of your lessons probably started 5 or 10 minutes earlier than they should have.” This response was not only unprofessional but completely irrelevant to the issue at hand. Since raising the issue via email, we have received no further communication or explanation. The lack of accountability, coupled with the instructor’s dismissive attitude, has made this experience incredibly frustrating. It's clear that this driving school is not only unprofessional but also unpleasant to deal with. I strongly advise potential customers to steer clear of them and seek a more reliable, customer-focused service.

Fantastic experience: My husband needed to upgrade his automatic driving licence by taking a manual test. It was our good fortune to find Topclass and Marcus E; Marcus is a great instructor very knowledgeable and honest (he only booked the lessons he felt were needed) and he was even able to change the booking at quite short notice when the test date was unexpectedly changed by the dvla, which was a huge relief. Hubby passed his test first time!

Fantastic experience: Tim is THE BEST instructor I have ever had! Fun lessons, relaxed and enjoyable. Learning at my own pace and putting me at ease whenever I would be anxious about anything in the car. If you want to learn to drive, safe and enjoy it then TopClass is the place to go to! Fantastic experience: Glenn is an absolutely amazing instructor! He built up my confidence so fast and got me my pass in a few months! From being so anxious to happily driving alone I cannot thank him enough. Any little mistake I’d make, he would reassure me and not make me feel silly so I felt safe and comfortable to try again. He used different techniques to help me understand all my manoeuvres safely and properly when I struggled to understand basic methods. Best driving instructor, couldn’t recommend enough. Fantastic experience: I have the pleasure of learning to drive with Marcus, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Despite some language barriers, Marcus was incredibly understanding and patient, ensuring that I grasped every concept thoroughly. His teaching methods are impeccable, and he consistently demonstrated a high level of professionalism. Marcus is truly a 10/10 instructor, and I am grateful for his guidance. If you are looking for a driving instructor who is both skilled and considerate, Marcus is the perfect choice.

Fantastic experience: I was extremely happy with Topclass. As soon as I filled out the form I heard from an instructor within a couple of days. They worked around my work schedule and would rearrange lessons if they didn’t suit. Glenn was so helpful and when I booked my test he was really encouraging and fit me in extra lessons to make sure I was confident before taking my test. Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: I cannot thank Jodi enough for her incredible patience, professionalism and guidance as a Top Class driving instructor! Every lesson was a complete joy, so much in fact I’ll miss them going forward! I am not a confident driver to start and having been a commuter for a long time, I felt embarrassed to be attempting my driving test so late in life. I now feel at home behind the wheel and in my driving decision making skills and like I’ve checked a massive item off my list. Jodi has been brilliantly candid throughout the experience, giving clear and concise directions, adapting to my learning style, she is a brilliant active listener and is 1000% dedicated to your learning experience. I can only emphasise that her future students will be lucky to have her as an instructor! I cannot thank her enough, and am endlessly grateful. I highly recommend Jodi and Topclass.

I was quite a nervous person but he's very reassuring and patient. Thank you Tim for preparing me for the test. I will miss you and your jokes!

Fantastic experience: So I started my driving with Tim in may 2022 and like any new driver I was so nervous but on my first lesson it was brilliant I was made to feel so calm and at ease(cool clam and collective) . When I started driving lessons in the may and through out the whole time Tim made everything so clear he explained if I made a mistake and still made it okay if a mistake happened we just learnt from it, when I passed my Theory tim was so supportive and a grate instructor nothing was ever to much trouble and we had a laugh a joke but he also guided my learning to drive journey to the point I took my first lesson to the point I took my test in December 2022 and with that with the support and guidance I passed my driving test first time with only four minors top class driving school is fantastic and I could not recommend them enough thank you so much for all you did for me lots of love corran xx x

Fantastic experience: I was recommended topclass and my instructor Tim by a family member. I definitely recommend top class as a driving school, My instructor Tim was great, he is funny too, which makes the lessons more relaxed and you don't feel too nervous. You won't be made to do anything you feel you are not ready for yet. He is very patient and flexible around work. I will recommend Topclass to anyone who is looking for driving lessons.

Fantastic experience: I have dyspraxia and was looking for a close by instructor and came across Tim I booked some lessons up and started right away, Tim was very calm and explained everything thoroughly making sure that I understood everything. With his help I didn't feel as nervous and had no worries I don't think I would have passed if he hadn't helped me massively, cheers Tim.

Fantastic experience: I have used 2 instructors with top class Heather for manual wich she was amazing. and taught me so much and tried so hard with me until I decided to go automatic with Tim he was also a very good driving instructor both equally made me feel very relaxed and allways made me believe in myself that I could do it no matter how much I doubted myself I couldn't reccommend them enough I ended up passing with just 1 minor thanks to both of them I would 100% reccomend topclass. Thanks again to Tim and Heather for helping me through everything

Negative experience: Very unhappy with this driving school. I've wasted £300 and delayed my son getting his full licence by months. I genuinely feel ripped off. We did twelve lessons with this driving school, our only experience was with our specific instructor, I hope the other instructors are not the same. My son spent all twelve lessons on the Darland part of Gillingham, not getting out of second gear. I should have known when he only did 10 mins of driving on the first two hour lesson and maybe 25 mins on the second two hour lesson.. (We didn't know any different) Progression was very slow, so much so I realised they were just trying to get as much money out of us as possible. In fact when we approached other driving schools and explained the issue they all guessed which school we was using before we said who it was. I'm not being a rose tinted glasses" parent but all our friends children were all doing roundabouts by lesson five. In fact 10 mins in with his new instructor my son was doing complex roundabouts and all sorts of new driving. I know driving instructors are in short supply at the moment but be prepared to upwardly manage this school, should you decide to use them.

Fantastic experience: So patient with new drivers and so encouraging, they give you the confidence you need to pass. :)

Negative experience: I've tried on multiple occasions to make a booking for my daughter. I did get a text response from a Leanne but that was weeks ago and despite replying through text, chasing that text and using messenger never received a reply. I've gone elsewhere now.

Fantastic experience: Let’s just start with… if you or anyone you know is looking for a driving school to start their lessons with, let me just say do not look anywhere else! Top class is definitely the best option! I had Tim Hunt as my driving instructor and honestly he’s an amazing driving instructor, definitely has a lot of patience, made me feel relaxed and every lesson was so much fun which helped learning to drive massively! I passed on my second attempt as on my first my nerves got the better of me unfortunately! But here I am today passed with 2 minors! Thank you Tim for all your help, honestly couldn’t of asked for a better instructor!

Negative experience: Daughter been messed around since she started. They do not return phone calls when requested to speak to someone higher. Been paying in bulk but since being messed around decided to pay individual and now my daughters been told that she can not book lessons up in advance which is going to be impossible to get a lesson when shes not at school or work. Would not recommend.....

Fantastic experience: Very relaxed and comfortable, passed first time after 20 lessons on auto, Tim is a great instructor I would recommend using Top Class!

Negative experience: I would not recommend Topclass to anyone! My instructor was very unprofessional in which she cancelled lessons the day of my lessons. In the 2 months that I've been learning to drive I've had to learn in 4 different cars! One being right before my test! I didn't know she would change cars she didn't even let me know before my test (if I'd of known I would of postponed my test and had more lessons) so I had 2 1/2 hours to get used to the car before my test so I failed as it was a completely different car. When I called up Topclass to complain I had to leave a voicemail and no one has got back to me yet, I phoned them a week ago! DON'T GO WITH TOPCLASS UNPROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTORS AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Negative experience: DONT GO WITH TOPCLASS DRIVING. They made me pay for block booked lessons then stopped turning up or replying to any calls, messages or emails. Failed to ever respond to me again, stole £180 from me when I was a student and wasn’t working, therefore a lot of money. Don’t go with topclass unless you want to get conned out of money!

Fantastic experience: Tim was extremely patient and made me feel at ease during my driving lessons. I was a really nervous driver and he helped me to gain confidence in my ability to drive safely. He had extensive knowledge and experience of the practical test and I managed to pass first time with his expert instruction. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: i had previous instructor before i learnt with Katy from top class and i found learning to drive with top class so much easier katy could fit around my shift work which was differnt each week while being very paitence as i did get very nervous behind the wheel i was reassured and calmed down, i will be recommending top class to anyone who wants a instructor

Fantastic experience: I took my driving lessons with Topclass driving school after reading all the good reviews on the website and I have to say every lesson was brilliant. I only took 28 hours before I was ready to take my driving test which I passed first time, and having never been behind the wheel of a car before I think that's pretty good going. I put it all down to my driving instructor Tim who's tuition was great he always made every lesson fun and I enjoyed every lesson I took, his patient and friendly manner made learning to drive very easy. also being a student I needed an affordable driving school and took Topclass up on there 10 lesson deal which made paying for my lessons a little cheaper for my purse :-) Great driving school would highly recommend to everyone.
