Fantastic experience: I passed my test in Chertsey today, thanks to Nigel!! Nigel is a very organised, calm, focused, and skilled instructor. From the first lesson he gives you a concise booklet summarising everything there is to know about the driving theory test, practical test, and driving skills. He gives you a full list of specific day and times time slots he is available which saves communication time. During lessons he is respectul, calm, direct, and exceptionally clear with his instructions and explanations. He not only explains the rules, but also the mechanics of the car so you can better understand how it functions in relation to your interaction with it, which helps you operate the car better as you understand how it works. When talking about more difficult concepts he pulls out a binder with real-life diagrams of car parks, roundabouts, weird roads, and annotates it so you can visualise it which is useful instead of having to imagine the things he is explaining. I would recommend him to anyone regardless of skill level!

Fantastic experience: I just passed my test on the first try thanks to the excellent instruction I received from Nigel at Flying Colours Driving School. The lessons were very well-structured, but also tailored precisely to the areas in which I needed the most focus. As an American learning to drive on the opposite side of the road — in a manual car no less — I was very nervous at the start. Nigel was very patient and reassuring, but also direct and clear whenever I had any question. I was even able to book a very last minute lesson the day before my test for some last minute revision. I would wholeheartedly recommend Flying Colours to anybody in the area looking for driving lessons.

Fantastic experience: Nigel is an experienced, expert driving instructor who gave me all the tools I needed to pass my test first time with him. His communication style is straightforward and clear, he is patient and supportive and tailors lessons to make sure you are focusing being a safe driver with all the relevant skills. I'm in my 40s and failed a couple of tests with other instructors in the past, Nigel's tuition was the best I've had from an instructor and helped me get over the line and get my license. Fantastic experience: I think Nigel is a very knowledgeable and experienced Instructor. Each lesson felt focused towards a specific goal, be it learning something new or improving on an aspect of driving that I struggled with. The 2 hour lessons were ideal for getting to grips with new skills. When it came to the day of the test I felt confident that I could drive safely which is a testament to the quality of his tuition. I would happily recommend him to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I have passed with the first attempt with the flying colours, thanks to Nigel! Don't think that it is easy to pass this exam, but it's doable. Nigel had all the patient for me to repeat and repeat all necessary corrections and actions which needed to be done. So many times I wanted to argue and felt that I was doing things right, but trust Nigel experience and expertise, he definitely knows better and the correct way. He sees all the flaws and not tired to repeat all necessary routine, which simply necessary to pass this test. If you will listen Nigel, push yourself to correct yourself, you can pass this exam too. Even more, Nigel gave me experience beyond of just exam preparation, but for the real life driving too. I always feel safe with Nigel at my side. Now is the hard part, need to learn to drive by my own without Nigel advices. Thank you very much Nigel! You helped me a lot and I definitely wouldn't be able to pass this exam without your help. You are doing a great job for your students.

I had failed three tests when I was 17 with a different instructor, I came back to learning to drive 13 years later and found Nigel, and passed on my first attempt with him. He is calm, patient, methodical, professional and a brilliant teacher. Fantastic experience: Having not driven for ten years I decided it was time to get back behind the wheel. I was terrified I would forget absolutely everything. I booked a ten-hour refresher programme with Nigel and it's the best thing I did. He has a calm, patient manner which immediately puts you at ease. Fantastic experience: It’s clear Nigel is a very experienced instructor. From the first lesson where I received a printed booklet with tips for the manoeuvres and the test I could tell he would be thorough with this teaching. His methods are excellent, always patient and always clear. I was a very nervous driver to begin with and Nigel was very understanding of this. His knowledge of test routes in the Chertsey area is outstanding, and I felt fully prepared at the time of my test. As my test date became closer we focused on areas I struggled with, he would ask what I would like to practice each lesson and suggest what might be the best use of the time. His rate is very reasonable, and the 2-hour lessons worked well for me. I could not recommend Flying Colours enough!

With his strict instructions I had learned to focus on driving and I felt that from lesson to lesson my confidence grove. I had been learning to drive for a few months with a different instructor, who I didn’t really click with, and then ended up having a car crash into me the night before my driving test, so I had to cancel it. After a break from driving, I found Nigel, and I can’t thank him enough for all the help he gave in a short amount of time. Nigel was so encouraging and really helped me get my confidence back, which I didn’t have with my other instructor. Fantastic experience: I was always scared of driving before I started having lessons. After lessons with Nigel, I began to be more confident. He was patient and taught me all the maneuvers I needed, using diagrams. Even after I took a break from learning driving after university started, I picked up my lessons the summer after with Nigel and was more confident in my driving abilities. Since the test had changed slightly in the new year, Nigel was efficient in teaching me the new maneuvers and questions that the test would request. He was always on time to start the session and it was fun to have casual conversations with him when driving around! If you're looking for a great driving instructor, I would recommend Nigel!

Fantastic experience: Cannot recommend Nigel highly enough. I previously used two different driving instructors but I found that I wasn't getting very far and they were getting impatient with me. Fantastic experience: As of writing this review all of Nigel's 72 reviews on Yell are 5 star ratings and he deserves each and every one of them. Under his tuition I not only passed first time, but I also learnt valuable road safety tips and advice. Nigel has a great personality - jolly and calm - which lends greatly to his gentle teaching style. His use of drawings and props in order to help teach manoeuvres, navigation of roundabouts and tricky road situations proved invaluable in visualising scenarios. He never once raised his voice throughout our lessons, instead he was very patient, and always reassured me in stressful situations (such as when I kept stalling at a busy main roundabout) making him great for nervous, inexperienced learners. He is also very accommodating; when my test was rebooked with little warning to an inconvenient date, Nigel gave me a slot on his day off in order for me to have a more convenient test date. A great instructor who I warmly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Nigel is an exceptional instructor a complete one in a million. If you don’t believe me he has 77 reviews all giving 5*’s on yell to back me up and we quite frankly cant all be wrong I came to him with a challenge, I needed to pass in under a week and a half in order to get my dream job. However, I had already failed six times. Undeterred Nigel took me on and fitted me in for lessons even on his days off. He boosted my confidence more than any other driving instructor had been able to with his extraordinary level of patience and boosted my confidence with his unwavering belief in me. His lessons were incomparable to any other instructors I have used due to his unique style which he has formed to ensure he makes learning the easiest he can for you. He will give new drivers everything they need from confidence to the technical skill with ease and great enthusiasm. I have been able to go forward for my dream job with a pass and two minors, which for me was not achievable before.

Fantastic experience: Writing as a parent of two daughters who took driving lessons with Nigel, I can highly recommend him. He has been brilliant. My daughters have very different personalities and he was able to support them both. He has great patience and skill which led to both my daughters passing first time. Fantastic experience: Nigel is a superb driving instructor. He tailored the lessons to suit my requirements, and had buckets of patience (which was definitely needed!). Before my test Nigel made sure that I was comfortable with any potential scenario I could have faced. I firmly recommend him to anyone looking for a driving instructor.

Negative experience: Don't think me and Nigel really clicked we had around 25 lesson possible more which works out around 50 hours. I found 2 hour lessons a bit much and always came away from lessons feeling down. I also felt that he didn't have confidence in me and this impacted on my driving i took one test with Nigel and failed. After the test i found another Instructor and passed with him after only 10 one hour lessons.

He was also really well prepared with lots of useful material for me to refer to and a thorough knowledge of how the test would go and the areas they might take me through. Passed my test first time!
