Fantastic experience: Dean is an absolutely brilliant driving instructor! He is calm, patient, and never got angry at me when I made mistakes. He's very knowledgeable and explained everything in a way that I understood, which definitely helped a lot considering how little I knew about cars beforehand! Negative experience: Be warned that they are a bunch of scam artists. Took 67 hours of lessons with Andy Ross, starting in October 2023. I was supposed to go to test in March 2024. Just two weeks before test, Andy starts battering my confidence and criticising every single thing I do. I was wondering why he had not pointed these things out earlier. Whenever I asked him what I could do extra after classes to improve, his standard reply was ‘nothing really. You just have to drive more often with me.’ Anyways, I went by DVSA recommendations and trusted the instructor and agreed to move my test to May 20. Come first week of May and we were back to the same pattern. Two weeks before test, everything I do is wrong and I should take 4-6 hours of lessons each week and move the test if he felt so. Again, I try to maintain my trust despite friends and family pointing out that this does not seem right. Test date moved to June 17 for the third time. In June first week, we are back again to the same old pattern. By then, I pointed out to Andy his modus operandi. If there’s improvements to be made, they need to be pointed out well in advance and not right before test. Also, pushing a student to take 20-30 hours of lessons a month just because they can afford it is really not ok. If after 20 hours of lessons in a month, a student does not improve, it’s not just the student’s failure but also the instructor’s. Also, an instructor cannot compare a learner driver’s skills to their own. It just puts a lot of unnecessary pressure on the learner. Whenever I questioned Andy about these issues, he would not give me a straight answer. Not to mention how Andy and Sam were hinting about gifts they expect for helping students pass. Not a very professional approach. By the way, I have all bank transfer records and snapshots of text messages asking for money in an unprofessional way as evidence of what I’ve written above.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with Sam as my driving instructor. I was firstly very happy that he took the time to talk with me on the phone and work out a way to make lessons happen for me as I was struggling to find an instructor that would work with my schedule. On top of that the lessons were really helpful and I felt safe and secure the whole time. I did an intensive course across a week and found it to be a great experience. Sam was encouraging and kind and very knowledgeable and experienced. I couldn't have passed without the help of such a great instructor. I would recommend him and Mr. L Driving School to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I just wanted to say a big thanks to the main man Sam Line who helped me pass first time! For me, driving was really difficult and it took a long time to get things right but Sam was incredibly supportive, patient and understanding. He also gave me very useful feedback, both verbal and/ or written after every drive. The lessons in addition were well structured, there was always a clear plan of what needed to be achieved in the time I had in the car. Fantastic experience: Andy is a brilliant instructor and I would highly recommend him. I've had a difficult time learning to drive in the past, learning with many other driving schools and multiple failed tests. But after lessons with Andy, passed with only 1 minor! He picked up on all my strengths and weaknesses from the very first lesson. And his calm and understanding approach works very well for nervous drivers. It felt like I was always making progress and moving forward, and I don't think I've ever laughed so much during driving lessons. Thank you!!

Fantastic experience: Roger is a superb driving instructor. From day one he put me at ease, explained everything clearly and made the whole process very understandable. Especially considering my level of spoken English. Today I passed my test with four minor faults and could not have achieved any of this without Roger’s brilliant guidance. He was incredibly supportive throughout the whole process and I really cannot recommend him highly enough. If you want to learn to drive, then please do give Roger a call – you won’t regret it! Fantastic experience: One of the best experiences, started with Roger which was an amazing instructor patient and gives you these good advice. Then comes Andy phewww sees your mistakes and calmly tells you how to fix them. Notices every little mistake , even down to the shoes hahahah. If you don’t understand anything ask repeatedly and his happy to answer. They are both good support system when it comes to driving and tbh you will 100% pass with the level of teaching they give you. Professional and friendly. Thank you guys. Fantastic experience: I could not recommend Andy Ross enough he was nothing but patient with me I deal with a lot of anxiety and stress and he was Amazing and dealt with everything. Fantastic experience: I didnt know much about Driving tests in the UK, but Andrew Ross was on point from day one. We had intense lessons, the best thing about Andrew is he analyses your best and worst bits and focuses on things to improve always. Always punctual, explains every bit and more importantly friendly, we talked a lot about food and football during our classes. Another massive thing about Andy is that he is willing to help you at any costs, once my train to Cambridge was massively delayed and I was stuck at Waterbeach. He took all the effort and was even willing to pick me up from Waterbeach just for me to have proper driving session. In short, Andy is the best instructor out there in Cambridge, tough to deal with but he is the best (Certainly makes you a better driver).

Fantastic experience: Sam is more than a driving instructor, they’re a driving coach. The sport? Driving of course. The game plan? Sam has got you covered there. From day 1 they had designed a plan to fit my schedule, and to get me to passing standard. You’ve caught my attention, what were they like? Easy to get on with. Genuinely, Sam was more than I could of hoped for in an instructor. They are knowledgable, they are patient. And most importantly (for me at least), they are motivating. They taught me what they know, they answered questions in a very understandable way, and they believed in me. Come test day, I knew I had the best prep possible. Would I recommend? Yes!

Fantastic experience: After learning to drive under a different instructor and making little progress, I thought I would give it one for try and found Andy. Andy has a relaxed teaching style but was vigilant in seeing mistakes I was making and holding me to account on correcting things, which is exactly what I needed. Lessons with Andy felt personalised and we focused not only on how to pass the test, but also how to drive in real life situations. I made progress quickly with Andy and became a confident driver prior to passing my test which I am ecstatic about :)

Fantastic experience: I got my license last week for manual car working with Andy from Mr L. Andy is super helpful(helped me get an earlier test date), knowledgeable(knows precisely where and when students falters in the actual test), thorough(ensured sufficient practice slots were available and I am comfortable & confident with all manoeuvres), punctual(respectful of one's time) plus affordable. Easy to recommend to anyone who is looking for a good manual/automatic instructor around the Cambridge area.

Fantastic experience: Gunnel Hallden I had previous experience driving in the USA for many years and found driving in the UK completely different and very difficult. I was very nervous when I first met Andy but his friendly and supportive manner quickly put me at ease. He was patiently retraining me to get rid of my old USA driving habits to be able to pass the test here. Not only did I pass the test on the first attempt but Andy taught me so many things and I am a much more confident, safer and skilled driver. His teaching method really works by helping me to get over the fear of driving on narrow UK country roads and the crazy roundabouts in a safe and correct manner. He made the entire experience very enjoyable and I will greatly miss him. Another great plus was his eagerness to quickly rearrange my test date, he manage to push it forward 2months. THANK YOU!

Fantastic experience: Passed my driving test 1st shot after learning to drive with Sam. Besides being very good at explaining everything and making sure that you're completely prepared to be on the road safely, he's also extremely patient. I had some bad experiences with another instructor before so I was a bit anxious, but Sam did a great job of making me comfortable. Close to the test nerves caught up to me and I had a very bad drive. Sam gave me a class pep talk that really helped bring my spirits up and worry a bit less. After any mistake we'd talk about it and he always made sure I understood completely what happened and what I should be doing. I'd recommend this driving school to anyone who's trying to learn how to drive, no matter how good you are.

Fantastic experience: My instructor was Andy, we got on very well and it didn't take long before he wanted to get me a test quickly instead of carrying on with lessons he didn't think I needed which was very good compared to stories I've heard from some of my friends of instructors ripping them off. I was very happy with every aspect of how I was taught and the information I was giving for how the test worked and what to do. I really felt like Andy wanted me to do well which helped me be more confident. I am now driving 3.5 tonn vans and soon will be going for my lorry licence and wouldn't have been possible without the help of Andy and Mr l driving school

Fantastic experience: Sam is an excellent instructor. Prior to learning with him, I had taken 4 tests and had more than 35 hours of lessons. I had only 10 hours of lessons with Sam but learned so much with him - he knows many techniques. Today I had another test and passed. I'm so happy and thankful for Sam's instruction.

Fantastic experience: Dean taught me to drive and I can say he was everything I needed in a driving instructor. I was really nervous to start driving and Dean was so patient with me and allowed me to build up my confidence in a way that made me feel really comfortable with driving. I passed first time and I don't think I could've done that if it wasn't for Dean. Couldn't recommend enough going with Mr. L for driving and having Dean as an instructor!

Fantastic experience: A somehwhat belated review given that I passed my test, first time, in August (thanks for that, Sam!)... but better late than never (just like me finally getting round to getting my licence)! I can't recommend Sam and his drivng school enough; yesterday I was driving home, on the motorway, in the pouring rain with unbelievable spray and limited visibility but I wasn't remotely worried that it was my first time a) driving alone for such a long distance and b) in such terrible condictions; I just remembered all that Sam taught me. So, if you pick a driving school- pick this one! Sam will not only coach you to pass your test but he'll teach you how to drive safely and confidently. Plus the lessons were super fun. Thanks, Sam!

Fantastic experience: MR.L driving school is definitely a top contender to do driving lessons with, I previously was with another instructor and failed two test I then had lessons with MR.L driving school and I passed first time in my test ! Fantastic experience: I was looking for an driving instructor. One day I just looked through my window and I saw MR.L Driving School car there, so I gave it try and I contacted Sam. And I have to say that I was so lucky, because I have found a great instructor at first time. Since beginning I felt respect to Sam, because I think he knows how to do his business very well. Very knowledgeable and professional person. He is really making sure, he is sending responsible and safe drivers on roads. Whatever my lesson was, he was always making sure I do not put myself down after leaving his car. Highly recommended.

Positive experience: Started off well with Sam as he did push me to do better & is very flexible. Throughout our lessons he’d get progressively more frustrated when I did something wrong & spoke in a way that would make me feel like I didn’t want to carry on driving and that I was wasting my time. It’s hard enough for a nervous person to start driving without being talked down to for making mistakes that they’re bound to make as a learner. I do think Sam is a very good teacher for those who can take harsh criticism but it just didn’t work out for me sadly.

Fantastic experience: Today I passed first time with MR.L Driving School with Sam and fair to say I am absolutely buzzing! As a brief history I was involved in a bad car crash a good few years ago that had completely put me off driving. I've always been a nervous passenger so actually driving seemed impossible for me. At 26 I forced myself to ring up some driving schools in Cambridge but 3 different schools hadn't even bothered to reply to an email or ring me back so I decided to find an independent school. After ringing MR.L I was phoned back by Sam and booked in the following week, I explained to him I was a nervous driver and he assured me that was no problem. From the moment I met Sam he eased my nerves and assured me I was capable of becoming a safe driver. In no time at all I was driving about in my village and even drove myself home on the first lesson. Sam is so incredibly patient and his down-to-earth attitude made every single lesson an absolute joy. Something that was so negative in my life had quickly turned into something I love very quickly. Sam is very reliable and organised, his lesson plans are progressive and at no point do you feel that he is there to "just take your money". Don't be afraid to ask to cover any "real life" driving situations either like car parks or a drive-thru - MR.L have you covered. Going to really miss my driving lessons with Sam - 5* service. So, i rang up to enquire on a few things, the chap on the phone was very helpful, concise, and informative.This company is that good that there is a 2 week waiting list across the 3 instructors working there. The instructor arrived bang on time, and what was supposed to be an absolutely nerve racking experience, was actually, really relaxed, and the way he instructs and teaches is so friendly, you'd forget he's an instructor. it was literally like giving a friend a lift. within an hour of my lesson, i'd already felt i was improving on bad habits, and i'm actually really glad i went with this company. Would 100% reccommend.
