Fantastic experience: I’ve absolutely loved learning to drive with Ray - he is an amazing instructor! He taught me all the skills needed to be a safe and confident driver, not just preparing me for the test but other driving skills that will help me with driving in the future, and made sure all the driving habits i was developing were the correct and safest way to drive! I looked forward to my lessons as Ray made them lots of fun and i learnt so much about so many other things too! (I also thought the magic tricks were brilliant)

Fantastic experience: Ray is, put very simply, an outstanding instructor. His main focus in his teaching is to provide his students with the building blocks and toolset required to be able to drive correctly and safely in any given situation. This is very much prepartion for a lifetime of driving rather than a quick fix to get you through a test only for you to struggle later. He achieves this through a combination of his lengthy career (from being at time the youngest instructor to pass the exam, to teaching poice extended driving skills) and a genuine warmth and familiarity that puts his learners at ease and enables them to build both skills and confidence. I learnt with Ray after a lengthy break away from learning in my teens and can honestly say that my driving style and philosophy is utterly changed as a result. Rather than lacking confidence and often hoping for the best (for example when reversing), Ray has given me the tools I need to get things right (and safe) time after time. It's been a genuine education and a lot of fun too. Thanks, Ray.

Fantastic experience: Ray is such a great driving teacher! When I started lessons with Ray I was quite a nervous driver with a lot of bad habits (having had a few lessons elsewhere before), but Ray soon ironed those out and massively boosted my confidence. He is patient, friendly and attentive, and always makes sure that you get the most out of the lessons. He quickly gauged my strengths and weaknesses, and planned lessons that were bespoke to my learner needs. Ray made me feel comfortable asking any questions I had, and without fail gave clear and wise answers that always boosted my learning. As well as getting learners "test-ready", Ray is keen to ensure that his pupils are prepared for the driving in the real world - something that not all driving instructors do! Fantastic experience: Being my first time learning to drive with a new instructor, I was a bit unsure of what to expect, but Ray has been consistently reliable and well organised from the start! He responds promptly to messages, is flexible with lesson timings and pick up/ drop off locations and is happy to book lessons a few weeks in advance. He would often arrive a bit early giving the option to start earlier if I was ready to go which made it easier to get to other commitments afterwards. Ray has always been well prepared for our lessons together, bringing teaching aids and diagrams to clearly establish concepts and reference points for manoeuvres, before patiently talking through it all in practice. He also emails handouts after classes, which are great for recapping concepts so as not to waste time during the next lesson. He very helpfully also provided me with access to a driving theory prep app/website which had all the preparatory material I needed and a massive question bank, making passing the theory component a breeze. Our lessons were very enjoyable and varied, with a good balance of driving on different roads and manoeuvres, whilst catering to what I needed for my personal development. I really appreciated his clear and consistent instructions and useful tips which allowed me to build good road habits early on, making things much easier down the line. Overall, driving lessons with Ray were the highlight of my week - thank you very much!

Fantastic experience: Ray taught me to drive from scratch, and I passed my test first time last month! He is a great teacher - friendly, patient and kind, and comes with many years of wisdom and experience. Ray is well-organised - he allows you to book time in his calendar several weeks in advance, and he sends a calendar invitation for each lesson. You also get a text message reminder ahead of each lesson, which is very helpful. Ray is reliable and always turns up on time, which means that you can sometimes even start a little early if you are already ready to go. Soon after I started learning, Ray got a brand new car (Ford Fiesta), and I found his new car very smooth and easy to drive, while still being very responsive to all the controls. With a petrol engine, it is cleaner for the environment than a diesel, and also means that I should find it very easy to drive a diesel if I ever need to, compared to learning the other way around. With his many years of experience, Ray knows all of the best locations around Cambridge for practising different maneuvers, and he is also familiar with all the test routes, which is helpful as you prepare for your test. Ray is keen to ensure that his pupils are prepared for "real-world" driving, which involves learning more than just how to pass the test. For example, we would usually chat and have the radio on during lessons, which puts you at ease and also helps you get used to being able to drive safely while having distractions around you. We also did plenty of sat nav practice, as well as learning how to turn in the road and having some experience of motorway driving - both of which are not currently tested in the driving test. Ray has thought of everything to help with your learning, and even gives you free access to a phone app with all of the questions to learn for the theory test (I got full marks on the theory questions as a result of this). I thoroughly enjoyed learning to drive with Ray, and I looked forward to every lesson. His great personality, touch of sarcasm and sense of humour made learning fun, and I also enjoyed being a guineapig for some of his magic tricks! Overall, I am glad I had Ray as my driving instructor. I am now looking forward to buying my first car and having many years of safe and skilled independent driving. Thank you Ray!

Fantastic experience: Ray is calm, experienced and has an awesome sense of humour. He doesn't just teach you how to drive safely, he teaches finesse too and this has enabled me to pass first time! His friendly demeanour has meant that after the first lesson I no longer feared driving or learning new things, I looked forward to it. Fantastic experience: Ray is a great teacher. I passed on my first attempt! Alongside the excellent teaching, you can also expect Planet Rock on the radio, lots of nerdy sci fi and comedy film references and, if you're lucky, a bit of magic.

Fantastic experience: I can’t even express how brilliant my experience with Ray was. But I will try and do it in as little words as possible: Simply put, I thoroughly enjoyed every lesson. Ray would always at make me feel ease and I felt comfortable knowing I was in safe hands; each week I knew I would have both an incredible lesson, learning and practicing my driving - but I also knew I would have a great conversation... but more importantly an incredible time. Each two hour session, was a nice break from work and I couldn’t have found a better person to have spent that time with. Week after week, I would relish the lessons I had with Ray; my driving advanced much faster than I expected. The fact is, it even surprised my partner how quickly I learnt in such little time - he now feels safe enough to come in a car with me driving! Ray did the impossible and taught someone like me to drive for life, in just seven lessons! I’ve picked up things I know I will never forget, and in honesty I wouldn’t want to forget it because Ray was such an inspiring teacher. If you’re having doubts, or are unsure about taking lessons - don’t be. You’re in capable hands with this driving school. I’ve already recommended them to five friends and I only passed yesterday! Fantastic experience: I first started learning with Ray after having a less than satisfactory experience with another well known national driving school. The contrast was stark and it was immediately obvious that Ray wasn't just about ticking boxes and filling quoters. He genuinely cares about helping you to become a competent and conscientious driver, and not just about teaching you how to pass the test. After passing my test first time with only 3 minor faults, I feel that this is testament to Rays, patients and high standards of teaching. Fantastic experience: I had left it long time to learn how to drive and was apprehensive about it. Ray was recommended to me by a friend and it wasn't long until I could see why. Fantastic experience: Choosing Ray as my Driving Instructor is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Having had some lessons with one of the big driving school firms when I turned 17, and quitting before even taking a test, 6 years later I needed an instructor who would rebuild my confidence. Ray did that and more. He taught me to drive rather than pass my test, and as a result I passed my test first time. He let me progress at a rate I was comfortable with (i.e. slowly!), and he will with you too. Having now passed my test, I will be contacting Ray again once I've got my own car to do a Pass Plus course with him. Don't hesitate to contact Ray - you won't regret it!

Fantastic experience: I 100% recommend Ray! I've heard so many horror stories from people I know about their driving lessons, however, with Ray this has never been the case. I passed both my theory and my practical test (first time this week), with his help. I really do believe that you get what you pay for. I have found Ray to be extremely accommodating, understanding, patient and, friendly. He has not just taught me how to pass my test, but how to drive PROPERLY and safely for life. He is very professional and passionate about what he teaches and preaches, and effectively has taught me how to drive in a safe, confident and controlled manner. Ray converted me from an absolute nervous wreck of a driver, with so many bad habits, into a cool, calm and collected, totally in control driver... in less than 5 lessons!! Fantastic experience: I thought I was a hopeless case, but I've actually managed to pass my driving test -with the help of Ray. Ray is very calm and clear in his instruction. He's the first instructor I had (and I've driven with a few) who seemed to get how anxious I was about driving. Fantastic experience: I passed a couple of months ago and can happily say that I have the confidence that I genuinely didn't believe I would ever achieve and a great deal of this has come from Ray's lessons. From day one, Ray has been able to mitigate my nerves and hesitations, and he's known when to push me outside my comfort zone without me realising it (which helps as it doesn't allow time for anxiety to kick in!). Ray has dealt with many of my ups and downs incredibly well - far better than I could ever have hoped for. He has an awesome sense of humour so you'll find yourself laughing with him or at him quite regularly! I was fortunate enough to find Ray first time round and was learning to drive at the same time as three of my friends who all went with the usual larger companies - all of which frequently had complaints about their instructors and they often never enjoyed their lessons, one of them even switched over to Ray with my recommendation and regretted not starting with him straight away! Ray is a genuine and lovely guy. He has a wealth of experience that others can't even compare to and you never feel like you're just another number on his list. You only really learn to drive once, and you're probably going to be spending a fair bit of time with your instructor so you shouldn't really just jump at the first person, or go with the bigger well-known companies just because you see them around more. Ray is someone that I formed a strong bond with and thoroughly enjoyed my lessons and chats with - to the point that I was a little disappointed when I passed first time! But I think that just shows a lot about Ray's personality and his ability to teach. I honestly couldn't recommend Ray enough, you couldn't go wrong by contacting him and arranging that first lesson!

Fantastic experience: I passed my practical and theory first time thanks to Ray’s refreshing and skilled approach to teaching. I had a different instructor before Ray, and decided to change as I wasn’t happy with my progress. I learnt more with Ray in one two hour lesson, than I did with my previous instructor over 10 hours. Ray is friendly, funny and accommodating wherever possible. I can’t begin to express how amazing he is at his job, he made me feel safe and also made my learning experience pleasant which is why I’ll also be doing my pass plus with Ray in a few weeks :)

Fantastic experience: My lessons with Ray were extremely useful and enjoyable. I passed my test 10 years ago but wanted to improve on my driving skills. Ray taught me how to carry out manoeuvres that I found tricky, by giving simple guidelines that were easy to follow and made complete sense. This is in stark contrast to my 3 previous instructors, who were not very good at helping you look at things from your own point of view. In addition, Ray also demonstrated how I can improve on areas of driving that I thought I was already ok at. I'll recommend him heartily to any learner.

Fantastic experience: Learning to drive with Ray was a fantastic experience and I recommended it to anyone. At first, I was nervous and hesitant about driving but he quickly put me at ease and taught me that there was nothing to be afraid of. Fantastic experience: BEST instructor ever. I started learning from the very beginning with Ray and I can safely say I wasn't the easiest person to teach however Ray was very patience and helpful and was more than happy to go over things that I hadn't gotten in the past. And bit by bit he built up my confidence. Ray just doesn't teach you how to drive but also passes on his knowledge and wisdom along with his sense of humor it made my lessons entertaining. If I had to start all over again I would choice Ray with no hesitation. I highly recommend Ray to anyone that wants to start learning how to driving or just to build up their confidence up. Fantastic experience: Starting out at 17 with pretty much no driving experience meant that I had to get someone that could provide excellent driving tuition, whilst providing me with great company for the many hours we would drive together. I can say that I wasn't the most confident person in the world, but Ray helped boost my confidence massively, meaning that when the time came to take my test I could approach it in a way that guaranteed I wouldn't fail just because of those little pesky butterflies! I would recommend that anyone, whether a complete novice in the world of driving, to a pro that just needs to get those few hours in before sitting their test, entrusts Ray to provide them with the driving instruction they need.

Fantastic experience: Amazingly patient, calm, knowledgable and supportive. Ray is really the very best driving instructor one could wish for. He really makes things clear and even if you feel there's a lot to learn and take in he just remains quietly confident and teaches with such skill that you realise how very good at his job he really is. Fantastic experience: Review of the tuition: I had not driven since passing the test about five years ago and decided to take a few lessons having recently acquired a car. The lessons really helped with learning how to deal with all sorts of situations. We spent a good part of one lesson the M11 and A14 and some small NSL country roads, greatly increasing my confidence on those roads. Review of the jokes: The jokes are so good you have to resist the urge to facepalm. Nothing beats hearing them first hand.

Fantastic experience: Having recently passed my driving test with Ray, I can recommend no-one better! He was very patient with me and helpful when he could clearly see nerves getting the better of me especially on exam day. Ray has a great sense of humour which helps keep you relaxed. He teaches much more than just the information needed to pass your test, he provides an understanding of the road in great detail which greatly helps when trying to keep yourself safe on the road!

Fantastic experience: I had a lot of apprehensions about driving in the UK and the driving test in general. I took my first lesson with another instructor and absolutely hated it. I then contacted Ray about two months ago and that was the start of a wonderful learning experience for me. The two hour lessons were precise and really well planned and paced. Ray has a really nice way of teaching in that he doesn't unnecessarily complicate things but lets you drive the way you are comfortable but at the same time giving logical explanations for each of the protocols that need to be followed while driving. And the most important thing is that he is really very patient and understanding. I absolutely enjoyed every single lesson and passed the driving test this week in my 1st attempt with just 2 minor faults. Thanks Ray for the wonderful experience and for making me a much better driver. Look forward to taking more advanced courses and would strongly recommend you to any of my friends who would like to learn. Ray please continue to rock as always!

Fantastic experience: I first started with Ray a day after my 17th birthday and stayed with him until the very end of my provisional drama. Even though I failed my driving test the first time around, when my mum asked if I wanted to try a different driving instructor I said no. I didn't change because I knew I wouldn't be able to find a funnier instructor. Ray's humor always cheered me up at the end of a school day even when he had had a long day. Ray's only flaw is that he works too hard. By this I mean he will give you a lesson that stretches far into the evening when any other instructor would have cut the lesson short or not say yes to the lesson at all. This was very useful for me as the earliest I could get into Cambridge after school was 4:30 and that was on a good day. We would spend a while in traffic to begin with but Ray always saw it as good practice for my clutch control and keeping my head straight even at the most frustrating of times. I was with Ray for a year and a half because of my test failures and exam periods. Every lesson in this time period was different and every time I stepped into his car I knew I would have to work hard and come out the better for it. I could write lots more about his personality, like his love for "Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy" or his interest in psychology, but that would be getting off topic of Ray as a driving instructor. One last note that must be delivered on the matter. Despite my long time with Ray, he never gave up on me, and for that reason I would recommend him to any new time drivers or people getting back into driving.

Fantastic experience: In short, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ray as a driving instructor. He's not the cheapest around but I figured that if I'm learning a potentially deadly life skill, it's probably not a time to save on the pennies. And it paid off. I probably took a little longer to pass than I might have with another instructor but Ray taught me so well that I passed at a canter and I'm driving solo with the utmost confidence. Ray's patient and his instructions are useful and to the point. He has an awful sense of humour but luckily we shared that ;) Perhaps my only qualm with his style is that he likes to correct you as you're making a mistake and sometimes—when it's safe :)—I'd find it more useful to make the mistake and learn from it. But, in short, 5 stars without hesitation.

Fantastic experience: I can't really imagine a better instructor. I was pretty nervous about driving, but Ray has a small arsenal of terrible jokes to put you at ease from the start. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience with driving, so teaches more than the bare minimum that the DSA expects. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Ray has been the only instructor I’ve had, and there’s a reason for it. Lessons were always varied with clear and patient instruction; and his jokes ensured they were never dull! With maneuverers based on judgment, I felt confident that even If I did mess something up in my test, I could fix it – I ended up passing first time with 1 minor. Gives great advice about driving in general, saving fuel, insurance etc… Ray teaches to drive, not to just pass the test. Thanks again, looking forward to doing pass plus.

Fantastic experience: I've always felt nervous about driving manual cars in Cambridge. However, learning to drive with Ray has helped me to overcome that and am now comfortable behind the wheels. His instructions are very clear and easy to grasp. A brilliant instructor with heck of a lot of patience and not to mention general knowledge! Fantastic experience: Learning to drive with Ray was a really enjoyable experience! Not only does he make you feel comfortable and safe, but he is warm, helpful and an absolutely brilliant teacher! I had gone through two driving instructors, but never truly had a "driving lesson" until I had a lesson with Ray. I had picked up lots of bad habits and was a nervous wreck on the roads, but through my lessons with Ray I slowly became comfortable and confident on the busy roads of Cambridge! He is clear in his instructions and explanations and incredibly patient to put up with me! I now feel totally confident and safe on the roads and love driving!
