Only Essex Driving School

Negative experience: My son has been learning with this instructor Mark for 9 months. After waiting 6 months for his test to come around, Mark tells us a week before his test that he won’t be presenting my son and can’t use the car he has been learning in as he doesn’t think he’s ready?! My son has had 40hrs and feels very confident in all his manoeuvres and generally being on the road. If you can imagine waiting six months (which is the time it takes these days to get a test) and then the one person you rely on to give your child confidence for their driving test to be so negative and is only after more money then Mark’s your man. I mean what kind of scam is this? The test is booked and he’s ready to take it! I’m sure Mark will respond to say something along the lines of I felt your son wasn’t ready and it’s in my right blah blah..but shouldn’t that be up to the examiner to decide?! This world really has gone to s#!@ with people like this about as if life isn’t hard enough

Negative experience: Got my wife lessons with them. Steer clear from the automatic instructors just incase you get the one she had. He gave it all the biggen about punctuality and then never actually turned up on time sometimes didn’t turn up at all and didn’t even give a reason, then decided to go completely AWOL and left it owing us money for the lessons we had paid upfront. The office just basically thobbed me off saying there was nothing they could do and didn’t even bother to try to resolve it. Only way is Essex pah…. more like the only way is toilet

Fantastic experience: I passed my automatic test yesterday thanks to Neal. I came to Neal after a few years of failed tests and struggling with bad nerves and undue hesitation whilst driving. Neal made my driving lessons extremely enjoyable and I always looked forward to them. He is very knowledgeable, calm, patient and professional. Fantastic experience: I hadn’t done driving lessons for 10 years and my first lesson with Jason he identified my strengths and weaknesses to help me get test ready. He has been a great instructor even on the lessons where I felt hopeless, he was very calm, very encouraging and today I passed my test first time with Only Essex Driving. (I failed years ago with a different company)I couldn’t recommend the school enough and would like to thank Jason for helping me get driving. I was baffled I only got 3 minors but it just goes to prove how good the school really is. I would 100% recommend them to anyone learning to drive or getting back into it after a 10 year break like me!

Fantastic experience: I had Rowan as my driving instructor, lovely person an couldn’t be any more friendly but most of all she’s an amazing instructor, she’s nothing but patient with you yet every lesson she will make sure you’ve progressed an I passed my test today, second time with one minor. Fantastic experience: Jason was an extremely good instructor, was very conversational whilst on lessons putting me at ease. Always notified me when I did something wrong but never in a bad way, but showing me how to avoid doing it again and become a better driver. Very thankful!

Very conversational and polite too which is a bonus plus he made me feel so calm on the day of my test. A top class instructor and a top guy. The price is better than most other driving schools but well worth the money!

Fantastic experience: My driving instructor, Jason, was a fantastic Tutor here at onlyessexdriving. He was determined for me to pass my test and this showed in his teaching methods. Jason pushed me to work hard which paid off having passed first time! There was no judgememt only progression. A massive thankyou to him! I would highly recommend this driving school :)

Negative experience: I contacted this school for my wife and the only time they have been pleasant and reponsive was before taking block payments. Subsequently communication has been very poor and frustrating. We have had a test cancelled and another rebooked on account of the Instructor's numerous excuses (for our test centre tests dates are usually 2 months or more waiting time). The next booked one is for September and despite being aware and agreeing to this since June he has just texted with another excuse. We have just wasted about 8 months and more than £1000.

Fantastic experience: I have been doing my driving lessons with Steve from here and he is amazing. He is a fantastic tutor and I will be passing my Driving test in a couple weeks thanks to him. He is a really friendly guy and very knowledgeable when it it comes to driving and teaching. He has helped me learn to drive, from knowing nothing about driving. He also helped me judge when to go for my driving test so that I don't have to take it multiple times, he is currently helping me greatly with getting ready for the test and I am very grateful that I had him as an instructor. There is no better out there!

Positive experience: Had Jason as my instructor; in terms or reliability, Jason was excellent. He's also got 18 years experience so knows his stuff. Very rare that people fail with him and the majority pass 1st time with an average of just 4 minor faults. I passed a moment ago with 1 minor fault.

Fantastic experience: Jason was excellant in keeping my nerves down and helping me in such a short amount of time to pass my test, got 6 minors which was alot better than my last test i done back in december with a different school.

Fantastic experience: Steve is very reliable, always turns up on time and it is very easy to block book lessons in advance. There have been times when I have had to re-arrange the lesson at short notice and he has been absolutely accommodating. Would highly recommend him as he is very thorough and talks you through your mistakes and suggests corrections.

Fantastic experience: My husband Mark works for this company and not only does he have one of the highest pass rates he also supports the training and coaching of new driving instructors. The company has some great deals for block bookings and they are very competitively priced compared to other companies in the area.

Negative experience: Absolutely fuming, my daughter has been let down by this driving company not just once but now Emma has cancelled for the 3rd time. I will be getting my money back and finding a reliable company

Negative experience: I had Emma who was very nice and friendly and the car was nice to drive. I paid upfront for 10 lessons, and the last lesson was booked in for the 23rd July we had confirmed a lesson and was waiting at home for Emma to get to my house when I got a message saying that she was away with her sons for school holiday and we'll catch up on 13th August when she gets back. When I got in touch she said the course has now expired as no more than a 2 week gap should be left in between lessons! She had not shown up for the lesson and not turned up on several occasions without notice due to heavy traffic. A real shame that I did not get to finish the course that I have paid for.

Negative experience: Bad experience with one of their drivers 'Neal' always 'ill' etc. Worst of all made racist comments during road rage! Sexist also. Avoid at all costs!!

Fantastic experience: Couldn't recommend this driving school highly enough and in particular my instructor Rowan. Most kind and patient lady as well as being very knowledgable and helped from not knowing how to drive at all to driving in absolutely no time. Great company with great prices also!

Negative experience: This was my second driving school I went to, this was a lot better taught, however, was annoying because the lady was always "ill" or being rushed into hospital. Every week you would be told that something new has happened which ended up being hard to believe. The lady, herself, was nice and the car was nice to drive but was bad that she could not make lessons. My friend who previously had her, said she was always let down because she always cancelled lessons, overall she must have been doing driving lessons for a whole year or more as well as being very nervous.
