Negative experience: Lessons were going fine at first but after a while felt like I wasn’t progressing. Had always paid full amount in cash and on the day of lesson but on my ninth lesson I was feeling really ill so had to cancel the morning of, Ian didn’t take it well and insisted that I had to still pay £60 and that I should have called 48 hours beforehand (i’m not psychic i didn’t know i would be ill! ). Then when I refused to pay the full amount for a lesson I couldn’t do as I felt ill he said I wouldn’t see him again (refused to do any more lessons with me). Completely rude, immature and sulking over my one cancellation when I’d been great with every single lesson before. As well as this he always made petty sarcastic comments about women not being able to drive, will be finding a female instructor next time.

Negative experience: Very Bad Instructor,during lessons waste time to go get coffee and uses unqualified instructors to teach during lesson while he sits at the back.cancels booked lessons. Unreliable and untrustworthy do not recommend

Fantastic experience: Don’t understand some of the negative reviews I have read, I started being taught by Ian a few days after my birthday and he has been great. His communication and teaching methods are amazing they are different but they help you understand the reality of driving. Ian has never been late to pick me up for a lesson and has never not contacted me about the next lesson. I was very nervous to start driving but from the second I got behind the wheel Ian had made me feel very comfortable and relaxed and I feel as though I could pass my test already. I thank Ian for his teaching and have recommended him to many people already.

Negative experience: Ian insisted a 2hr session for first lesson. Had one lesson and never contacted me again for further lessons. Waste of time and money.

Negative experience: False 5star reviews.I got trapped in this. I would rate him 0.5 and do not prefer or recommend Ian at all. He is rude in behaviour and one of those who believe in teaching less and using more hours. #GreatRipOff. My GF also heard similar feedback about this instructor. Somehow I ignored and lost monies for 22 hours. Ian is best if you have loads of money to waste and lot of time to spent ( Unlimited hours) to learn driving and have low or no self-respect.

I have had a previous instructor and I would say Ian’s teaching methods were much more helpful in actually becoming a better driver as well as preparing for the test. He is very patient, and always on time for lessons. I highly recommend him as a driving instructor.

Negative experience: My partner booked my lesson for today. No show of instructor. They should have let us know that they have cancelled it as I could have booked somewhere else. We even reminded the instructor a couple of days before lesson so it was a waste of time and day waiting! Not recommended at all.

Fantastic experience: I couldn't recommend Ian enough. He teaches you how to drive in a way that'll not only pass your test, but will make you a more confident and safer driver overall. His attitude towards teaching and his ability to crack a joke in tense situations always puts you at ease and makes you more confident in your ability to drive. If you want to pass your test and learn to drive a car how it's supposed to be driven, then you'd be hard pressed to find a better instructor than Ian.

Fantastic experience: Ian’s my guy, experienced in this so theres no session wasted, there was nothing I struggled with at all & passed my test first time, so leave your whack instructor who cant show you roundabouts/parallel parking etc and join Ian! Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Ian highly enough. He is an amazing instructor - he was always on time (and never cuts the lessons short!), very professional, calm and attentive. Ian can easily recognise flaws in your driving technique and is great at fixing them. He also has a great sense of humour, which made me feel at ease. A few lessons with Ian were so much more effective than numerous lessons with other instructors. I passed my exam with flying colours - all credits to Ian (and my husband for having found him!)

I had myself down as someone who would never drive but Ian is a great teacher who explains everything he asks you to do in great detail (with diagrams), has the patience of a saint and teaches you to become a confident driver. Fantastic experience: Very good and helpful. Ian is very friendly and the way he teaches you is very easy and takes the pressure off from you. Best thing I liked, abd that really helped me learning quickly, is that he will first explain you about what we are going to do (e.g which roundabout, which exit, which lane) than after doing that round, he explains what went wrong, and will AGAIN take you to the same route. It really helped me to actually identify and correct my mistakes. Well, I can write a lot about how good my experience was, but keeping it short, cavendish driving school is cost effective, friendly, punctual, helpful, and DELIVERS RESULTS. I passed my test with only 2 minors. Thanks Ian.

Negative experience: Had the rude person said they prefers to book 2 hour slots I would of happily done that as I am new to the whole driving/booking lessons stuff but since he/she doesn't no how to talk to people I have booked multiple hours with another driving school, attitude doesn't get you anywhere good luck to bad service

Fantastic experience: I am so pleased with the level of professionalism displayed by Ian throughout my time with him as a learner. He is very calm in his approach when teaching. I absolutely love the way he explains things very gently without panicking and not picking on my mistakes straightaway. He knows the test routes in his head and never rushes to teach things or wastes any time during the lessons. His gentle approach helped me excel in driving. He is very punctual with timing and always there on time. I wouldn't have passed the test if I had an instructor who is not as gentle and calm as him who is always encouraging my efforts. I am so pleased to have passed my test now. Finally, I must say he is dedicated and committed to his profession that, despite not feeling very well, he did not let me down and turned up on time as planned and only because his true efforts and commitment, I passed my test. Fantastic experience: Before going with Cavendish, I had failed my test three times with three different instructors. I was convinced I was not meant to be a driver and all but gave up. Ian helped me to love driving and explained every manoeuvre in a way that was easy to digest. I passed last week Friday and it was the most bittersweet. Sweet for obvious reasons, but bitter as I will truly miss our lessons. Thank you Ian for everything.

Positive experience: Ian was a perfect instructor for me. Im 52 years old and believe me its hard to learn new tricks. The older you get the more you doubt yourself. Fantastic experience: I had three lessons with Cavendish driving school, following a pretty dismal intensive course with a previous company (along with a failed first test.) Ian managed to instil in me the confidence I was very much missing; essentially teaching me to drive all over again and more importantly turning me into a safe and competent driver. I passed my test yesterday after only 6 hours in the car with Ian, and I couldn't have felt more prepared if I'd tried. Thank you for everything!

Fantastic experience: I have tried many driving instructors with no success, when I met Ian from Cavendish DS he gave me the confidence I needed to learn to drive. He teaches you how to actually drive and not just how to pass a test, now I know my children will always be safe in a car with me. I actually enjoyed my driving lessons and looked forward to them and I miss them now I have passed! I will and do recommend Ian to anyone who needs to learn!

Fantastic experience: Not sure what the one star review is about. Ian is a superb instructor. Great method of teaching, patient and helpful and I would definitely recommend Ian to any other new learners or people who haven't driven for ages. Edit: 13/7/17 - thanks to Ian, I have since passed my driving test, first time as of yesterday. Really recommend Ian if you have had lessons before or none at all.
