Fantastic experience: I passed yesterday on my first time and I'm very happy with the result! I understand why others are nervous and put off by the harshness of examiners, but they don't do it to upset anyone they're making sure you drive safely (they're being driven by new, nervous drivers at the end of the day) and they're just trying to do their job, they're not there to be your mate. Shout-out to Anne who has noticed my nerves and calmed me down with small talk through the test and gave useful feedback at the end of the test. Lovely clean facility. If you can drive well, you have nothing to worry about!

Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test first time my examiner was claire i am very excited and happy my driving instructor was MCR Manchester driving school great experience with them

Negative experience: I have test today at 8:10 in bury. Have lady Examiner she is really should be good but she was aggressive with me my English is no to good I try to explain her but she was very rude on me I was driving good but she canceled the exam at the end! The one thinking I’m upset my theory will expired after 20 days but it’s ok in not giving up I know I will pass one day! But the manger should be know what happened in the examiner in Bury

It’s more like English test not driving test Examiner was very rude talked very rudely with me and before the test even started he cancelled my test absolutely disgusting behaviour from examiner would not recommend any one to go there as there’s no manners in that place

Negative experience: Shame on bury driving test center. Here is another review of "Woman". It's horrible that nothing is being done about it! That woman made her feel bad. She had a very rude tone and was very sharp! My partner had a bad experience here today. He failed my partner over something very stupid, but that's not the point. The problem here is discrimination. The examiner created an unpleasant atmosphere for the exam. Please if you get tested at this centre you must request not to take the woman, tell them if they assign her to you you will take your business elsewhere, that way you can get rid of her as you should. Get rid of It was a long time ago that so many bad reviews were written about him.

Negative experience: The worst place ever and my examiner was talking to me like he stepped on me and i was stuck to his shoe. And i was 60 seconds from the centre and i was about to make a right turn and it was a wrong turn and i am supposed to be able to correct the mistake myself but he started saying loudly i said the next turning carry on so i began to panic and made another car have to step on his brake a bit to hard but if i did make the wrong turn the sat nav aswel is to recalculate too but i was not given that chance so i am fuming then at the test centre he had the nerve to say it was my fault and fail me even more angry as i had no faults or miners before that too

Fantastic experience: I had an exceptional experience with examiner Peter during my driving test at the Bury test center. I passed on my second attempt yesterday, and Peter was more than perfect—better than I could have imagined for an examiner! He is definitely at the next level! His friendly demeanor helped to ease my nerves. He provided clear instructions throughout the test, ensuring I understood what was expected at each stage. I truly appreciated his professionalism and kindness. I couldn't have asked for or imagined a better examiner! I would also like to mention that Andy, the examiner during my first attempt at the same test center, was also very nice.

Fantastic experience: I would say very professional and friendly Examiner Andy is. He made me feel like i am not in an actual test. Andy Gave clear and concise instructions and supervised the test in a really professional and polite way. I was able to pass in 1st attempt. I would also like to give shoutout to my Instructor Mr Shahid( Manchester School of driving) whose guidance and kind support helped me pass my test. He took lessons in a very friendly and calm environment and made driving test really easy for me

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing staff

Negative experience: The woman examiner gave me the most terrible feeling ever from minute one. She was extremely rude and talked in an extremely disrespectful and dismissive manner from the very beginning even before driving away for the test! I asked her multiple times to calm down and let focus on my driving. I have been a driver for 15 years and with no single serious mistake ever, and have been also driving in the UK with my international driving license for more than one year. But I didn’t understand a single reason she failed me on. I went to the center just to change my license but not to be met with such a nonsense attitude and a rude examiner who wants to teach me how to drive! She’ll not reach my level in 50 years.

Negative experience: Very bad here for passing your driving the pass rate is 30 percent I drove impeccable as I have experience driving and because I was a extended test student that’s been on a ban I had the worst examiner you could think off my instructor couldn’t fault my driving and I ended up with 3 majors and 11 minors absolute joke and I believe they are not fair and are very judgemental!! AVOID

Fantastic experience: Passed my test on the 5th attempt today! I’ve had 5 different examiners and I can honestly say all have been fantastic. All did their best to calm my horrific nerves and when I’d failed, gave really good feedback which helped in subsequent tests. I only regret that I haven’t remembered names due to said nerves. The test centre gets a lot of negative press and I think it’s wholly undeserved. They are just trying to do their jobs and put safe drivers out onto the roads. I would 100% recommend this test centre. Thanks guys!

Negative experience: I recently had an upsetting experience during my driving test. From the start, the examiner was rude and dismissive. When asked how to check the headlights and tail lights, I began to demonstrate and explain, but she interrupted me harshly, saying my answer was wrong before I could finish. Throughout the test, she frequently grabbed the steering wheel, even though I was driving safely. This increased my anxiety and confusion. In a car park, when I sought clarification on her instructions, she snapped at me and threatened to end the test. Finally, she abruptly terminated the test at a supermarket, citing my poor English. She left without giving me my test results, instructing me to have my instructor pick me up. This experience has shattered my confidence and made me feel discriminated against. The examiner's behaviour was unprofessional and biased.

Negative experience: Without a doubt the worst experience I could’ve ever had taking a driving test. The examiner was incredibly short with me from the start, his attitude towards a student was nothing short of disgusting and his reason for failing me couldn’t actually be backed up but went ahead and did it anyway. This test centre and its examiners are absolutely shocking and seriously requires investigation or reform from DVSA. One of the best drivers my instructor has seen on the day of my test, and still only had 2 minor faults on my report at the end of the test yet still failed for speed due to not wanting to cause problems on a housing estate by driving too quickly whilst children were out playing and people walking their dogs, cars dumped everywhere etc.. Horrible test centre and horrible examiners. Will definitely avoid booking my retest here and would advise anyone else to avoid booking a test here as well.

Negative experience: The female test woman was incredibly rude, condescending and disrespectful throughout the test and even after it when delivering the bad news. Felt like I was being told off by Gordon Ramsey, asking rhetorical questions about my mistakes. The issue she failed me on, almost ‘causing a crash’ was nonsense. She also criticised my parking, saying I nearly went on touched thr gate when reversing into a bay. The beeper on the car was going off yes, but it always goes off early. Me and my driving instructor both agreed I’d parked fine. She really needs firing

Positive experience: Even though I failed in my 2nd attempt, it was really thanks to my driving instructor Omar who took me to the test centre and did everything he could to help me overcome the nervous. I would also like to thank the examiner Richard who was very patient and professional. The stress and nervous made me make the silly mistake to go the reverse gear which I thought I went to the 1st gear, and hit the kerb with instantly failed. At that time, I could not imagine that I failed like this and asked for restarting (which was impossible, one chance only). Richard was patient and professional, he did not left me alone and allowed me to continue the test with the serious fault which I did. Later, I calmed down and stopped the test, but big thanks for him. One star was deducted from the parking spaces inside the test centre, there is a bit tricky if you need to go to park in the corner spots.

Negative experience: Shame on you Bury Driving Test Centre. Here is yet another review about 'the woman'. It is absolutely horrible that nothing is done about it! I don't claim that I should have passed but that woman made me feel so bad and it was my first driving test. She had a very rude tone and was extremely abrupt! Now I don't look forward to my next test in a fear of getting stuck in a car for 40 mins with somebody as miserable.

Fantastic experience: Had a test here this morning. The lady examiner was v serious and this added to my nerves initially, but I think she could see how nervous I was and she then went out of her way to make me feel at ease. I didn't pass sadly, and this was down to me letting my nerves get to me near the end of the test. I hope I get her next time to be honest a she was very calm and not overly nice, trying to speak to me! Haha. The test centre itself is a bit small and it was pretty crowded when I was waiting for mine at 10.14.

Negative experience: Had an awful experience with my first driving test at Bury. Looking through these reviews has shown me it’s not just me that had this experience. I’m sure we are all talking about the same woman, she had an attitude with me since the start, not comforting at all, sighed and tutted, and even raised her voice at me a few times throughout my test. I was very nervous and anxious as this was my first time and she did not help at all ! She made me feel like I was a bad driver. I feel like this was not fair on me and others who have experienced this. It’s wrong. Looking through the reviews, it’s like she likes to fail people for fun. My friend had the exact same experience as me with her raising her voice and being rude during the whole test. Wouldn’t recommend.

Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test at Bury test centre today, although I had extensive training with my instructor I was still nervous at test but my examiner Andy was very polite and explained everything thoroughly

Negative experience: I went here today, with my husband for his test. This is the forth time today with have been to this one. Two times, the test was cancelled on arrival with no prior notice given. 1st test a fail, when he was driving alone with examiner, so this time I decided to sit in the back of the car, just to listen and observe. My husband did nothing wrong on this test and yet again was told due to nothing, the examiner gave the poorest reason why. One my husband received the email to say why he had been failed, the examiner had added loads to the list, which didn't even apply. This centre needs to be looked into and I think the examiners need to be tested themselves for their driving and for customer-service skills, as very poor. My husband asked for camera evidence of his test today and they said they do not record, absolutely disturbing place. Don't even provide water to wash your hands when using the toilet facilities. AVOID

Negative experience: My partner had an awful experience here today with the female examiner, short curly red hair. My partner was taking her test in her own car, which she has been practising in. She has a named driver who came to the test with her today. My partner walked into the waiting room on her own. She didn’t bring an instructor with her, this is allowed. The lady examiner who my partner had, walked into another room, told other instructors that my partner had arrived on her own and didn’t have a driver with her. she told them to write her registration down and colour of car, I assume so that she could report her. Another instructor who saw my partner arrive with her driver corrected the lady instructor, told her that my partner did in fact arrive with her driver. She went ahead and said, we’ll write her reg down anyway just in case she drives away on her own. Now why would she think that my partner would drive away on her own, when she’s just been told by her colleague that she did not arrive on her own. She was totally discriminated because of the way she looks. Can you imagine the nerves my partner is experiencing when she just overheard her examiner discriminate her for no reason. My partner confronted the examiner before test started. She again assured her that she did arrive with her driver and not on her own. I mean who would arrive to their driving test illegally driving their own brand new car on just a provisional without a named driver. This set the tone for the test, she clearly didn’t appreciate that my partner confronted her, I think she felt stupid because she had been overheard discriminating her. She failed my partner on something so so silly but that’s besides the point. The problem here is the discrimination. The lady examiner really set an awkward mood for the test. Now looking at the reviews on here about one lady examiner. It’s her I know it is, she’s been accused twice of being racist, and she discriminated my partner. Please please if you get a test at this centre, you should request that you don’t get the woman, tell them that you will take your business elsewhere if they assign her to you, this way they might get rid of her like they should have a long time ago when all these bad reviews were written about her. she will discriminate you

Negative experience: Very bad experience.. it is very normal to feel nervous and anxious during driving test but never would I imagine this kind of treatment. This lady examiner was the worst. Very rude and makes you very nervous. Does not know how to talk calmly or reassuring, even the best drivers would feel very intimidated. From first small mistake, everything else comes crashing down. Just very blunt and with such an unpleasant demeanor.. will not have my test there again. Not in a million years. Such a wasted opportunity.

Negative experience: Had my 2nd test with David, as was my first his attitude and demeanour was disgusting the way he treats and speaks to learners is appalling! my test was terminated almost immediately apparently due to a dangerous fault which was so far from the truth no dual controls were used as I had acted in time and the car was stopped before the line of the junction, and he then continued to let me drive for 10 minutes and left me alone in the car away from the test centre until my instructor returned.

Even the instructor has said such an unfair thing to fail on . You don’t mind failing is you understand what you have done wrong . She fails people for pleasure ! Positive experience: Took my test for the 1st time today with a examiner named Andy but i failed but want i want to say was even tho I failed ( I went down a 1 way street within 1 min of leaving the test centre) Andy tried his best to calm my nerves and was so kind to me, hopefully next time i stay calm & concentrate more!! Gave 4* but will give 5 when I pass.

Negative experience: Aren't these examiners suppose to make you feel at ease? Isn't being friendly and smiling part of professionalism. Honestly I'm sure these examiners need to be reviewed and assessed time to time. As she was making it clear we now wear bodycams for our safety, I think a senior needs to look into how they are assessing learners. The second I said hello and gained no reply my anxiety kicked in. Still I said 'how are you' and I was totally ignored for the second time, then I knew it was going to be a straight fail. I felt she looked for faults. I hate to say but i think she only likes certain kind of people or she's just a miserable old lady! Just to warn you in advance try not to let ANNE intimidate u... she surely made me feel like a total failure!

Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test 2 days ago on my 4th attempt but my first attempt in bury, I got Lee and he was absolutely fantastic, I suffer from anxiety and couldn't get passed my nerves, Lee calmed me down and was so relaxing and most of all he treated me with upmost respect. Thankyou so much Lee anybody who gets you on their test are extremely lucky.

Positive experience: The test centre itself is fine, a little dated but fine. Examiners come across arrogant and not very friendly.

Negative experience: There is one Woman examiner who didn’t even said her name or even simple Hello before exam. After first glance I knew she will fail me as I am not British national. Was very rude before and during exam, made false faults on purpose! My best advice is - if you don’t have British passport don’t even bother going to Bury for your driving test. You can’t even report them as managers don’t care. They are happy with all failed tests as getting free money Absolutely disgusting!

Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test here and it was my forth attempt. I tried once more before at Bury and twice before at Cheetham Hill. In all instances the examiners were extremely professional, friendly and helpful. Every time I failed on things that I know I did wrong and that my instructor warned me that could be major faults. On my last test, at Bury, I had Anne who was very friendly and helpful. Thanks Anne! :)

Negative experience: Dont take your test here if you are a foreigner or simpy not white British. I am driving for 15 years and not even had a speed ticket but failed my test because of the insturctor was thinking I'll crash a parked car and took physical action. LOL I am more experienced driver than him even holding a refree license for motorsports. Simply racist people are making your life harder.

Fantastic experience: Passed my driving test here today - the examiner Lee was brilliant. He was really calming and set me at ease massively. We had a lovely chat when it was appropriate and he let me focus when I needed to!

Negative experience: Absolutely appalled at how horrible this place is. Are your examiners coached into distracting the drivers? How can you think it's acceptable to hold a casual chat with someone who is taking a TEST and is already nervous? The first examiner failed the student because SHE panicked when another car committed an infraction. Horrible, horrible place, clearly just after people's hard earned money.

Fantastic experience: Every examiner was polite, I had three tests here and passed on news year's Eve. First test , failed because of my parking. Second, I failed because I was made do the right side of road and reverse, in a location I'd not practised, not the instructors fault. Imagine if in a real life situation, It'd be unexpected. Examiners are really nice, the last one made me feel so at ease, actually had a couple of chats with him. If you can drive, he already knows and try to calm you down so you can give your best test. There's no pass rates,nor fail rates, all myths. Drive well and you'll pass. 3 Minors on three tests , 2 with 1 serious each and then a pass. Also if you fail, just learn from what you did. It comes naturally then. Book your test for before 9pm, honestly. It's a top tip, you will only be given a certain choice of routes. No motorway, no Heywood, no Ramsbottom. You'll do either gigg lane way, walmersley road area or Fairfield area.

Fantastic experience: Had my test here today & was extremely nervous. Julian examined me & made me feel so relaxed. I was still naturally nervous but felt at ease during my whole test, which made me do well & I passed with 2 minors. Thank you x.

Negative experience: Not the best experience for my daughter who was left abandoned alone in her instructors car . after challenging decision of examiner to be threatened with failing and test being terminated. Actions contradictive and I do feel feel cameras should be fit in cars to back up decisions which are incorrect and made in haste. I would not recommend this place needs a review of staff and management.

Fantastic experience: Passed 1st time on Thursday, 31st May. Got to say I made myself really nervous but in the end they was no need to be nervous. I believe those who practice and learn their Highway Code whilst also doing lessons will pass. I found the examiner to be extremely professional and friendly. I wasn’t waiting too long and the drive was great. I only had three minors; 1 - Speed (going 30 in a 40 - noticed later on whilst on the road to corrected myself to the right speed). 2 - Lane Discipline - as coming to roundabout I was going straight on, I was over the left hand and middle lane until I corrected myself to the left lane). 3 - Hesitation - lorry coming from opposite lights no indicator and I stopped to see what he was planning to do. Once I knew his intention I then carried on (the minor was fair because I had right of way). Tips for those waiting or going for the test: For those who may be nervous make sure to eat a banana, do a course of Kalms and morning of test take two paracetamol one hour before test, take a bottle of water with you and plenty of chewing gum.
