Alex Cross Driving School

Fantastic experience: I started my driving journey in 2017 and failed a couple of times and then covid hit. After this I took a very long break and felt very deflated but this year 2024 I decided to start up again and change my instructor, that’s when I found Alex Cross. Best decision I ever made I passed on the 18/12 and I couldn’t of done it without his help made me feel at ease and if I made a mistake he made sure we calmly corrected them. I would 100% recommend him to anyone who is confident or like me very nervous and deflated from previous issues. Thank you so much!

Fantastic experience: What an amazing instructor. A first time pass for my child. So Alex stepped in and helped out massively after driving lessons were going wrong with another instructor. Alex turned up week in week out. Never did he cancel. He got on really well with my son. He built his confidence back up and broke all the bad habits. We were pushed for time as the test was approaching and they both have gone and smashed it. Couldn’t recommend him enough and worth every penny spent.

Negative experience: I booked a driving lesson back in early August, and have been looking forward to it since then. The day arrived today, we stood outside the house from 6.55 waiting, nobody, text the instructor only to find out "he forgot to put me in the diary"!!!! Great service Alex cross driving school!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing driving instructor, really calming and helps to build confidence. Highly recommend!!!

Negative experience: The instructor frequently used to finish the lessons approximately 10 minutes early. One day, when I confronted him about this, he treated me differently and later dropped me altogether. He would also often take me to get petrol during the lessons, which would take more time out of my lesson (note: he claimed this to be a part of the lesson, despite never actually teaching me about the procedure). He would also occasionally use his phone during the driving lessons. UPDATE: this review was written multiple years after my interactions with this instructor, therefore, I acknowledge that it is plausible that the flaws I raise here, may have since subsided. However, this does not distract from the factuality of these claims or my experiences. I decided to write this review now, in hindsight, since recently I have had the fortune of experiencing alternate driving instructors, which highlighted to me the difference in professionalism.

Fantastic experience: alex was good made me feel confident and relaxed when i first started up to my 3rd test which i passed on. couldn’t thank him enough and would recommend to anyone who feels nervous about driving on the roads. Thank you alex !!

Fantastic experience: The great man, Alex, an amazing driving instructor. I felt comfortable with him. His teaching technique and approach make you feel incredibly safe and secure. His attention and focus showed how much he loves his job. Being a great observer, he quickly identified the areas I needed to improve and helped me develop them efficiently and confidently, playing a significant role in passing my driving test with ease and confidence. Alex has taken himself to a different level in his job; there is no need for another word, no need to go to anyone else, he is the man! Thank you so much.

Negative experience: Constantly was trying to reschedule already planned lessons, went on his phone during lessons. Was only consistent at being late and would get me to drive him to gas stations then come back ten minutes later in the middle of a lesson. none of these interruptions were made up for or docked off the pay. So I was expected to pay full price (£38) for an hour's lesson despite only getting a 45 minute lesson if I was lucky. Shockingly bad experience.

Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test today on my first attempt. Gurkan, my instructor, is the nicest man - he is very easy to get on with, calm and positive, and explains things really well. I had a lot of fear and trepidation about driving, but Gurkan put me at ease, made sure I was prepared, and gave me the confidence I needed to pass first time. I would recommend my instructor and this driving school to anyone.
