Bromley Driving Test Centre

Negative experience: I would give 0 if possible. At first I thought this woman was a bit rude to me I kept looking at my wife who was my driving instructor. After the test my wife told me she kept looking at me and giving me a dirty stare and screw face. At first I thought this was normal for a driving examiner but after coming to read the review I saw, not one or two but, 6 - 1 star reviews naming Ava/Eva. I don’t know who has hired her but she is so standoffish and rude and has a general bad vibe to her. From when I first saw her I felt that she was a bit annoyed or in a bad mood and then after driving with her I’m more convinced she examined me on her bad day and definitely allowed it to affect her judgement. She really just came up with excuses to fail me and I 100% advise no one to book there. Or if you do just pray you don’t get her. I had my test on a Saturday so she 100% was moody coming in on a weekend and then was telling me they were doing overtime…

Fantastic experience: Passed first time with Tony - amazing test instructor. Makes you feel at ease and will give constructive criticism.

Negative experience: I failed my test today but that is not why I’m writing this review. I had Ava as my examiner today and she was very standoffish and made me extremely uncomfortable and unless your drive dead perfect you won’t pass with her. So don’t know if I caught her on a bad day but it was an awful experience and would not recommend going Bromley test center unless you don’t get her. I really disagreed with how she did her job and when the test was over she was speaking very aggressively towards me about my mistakes. I do not wish to take my test there again! Avoid at all cost!

Negative experience: The woman instructor was very rude and made me feel uncomfortable throughout the test yesterday morning. Tip for other drivers: If you are coming to this centre and aren’t familiar with the area, the test routes mostly are 30 so don’t go 20. And maybe ask for an instructor that puts you at ease while driving, as the lady I had was very standoffish.

Fantastic experience: Passed my test first time round yesterday at Bromley test centre. Ian was my examiner and he was very kind, calm and positive. Even when I had tricky moments he was so patient and that allowed me to rectify them in a safe way, I remained calm the whole way through. If you are local to Bromley and Lewisham I would highly recommend using this test centre. So thankful to Ian and my instructor for all her support and encouragement she has given me.

Fantastic experience: Passed test this morning with only 2 minors with Ian, my examiner. Can't thank him enough for breaking the ice and engaging in a conversation that helped me calm my nerves. Amazing experience and fantastic examiner.

Negative experience: The examiner was quite aggressive, almost shouting for a small mistake at the beginning of the test and scoulding which led to stress and bigger mistake. Albeit he was more of a human being when providing feedback after the test is over

Fantastic experience: Had my driving test at 9.07 this morning and passed with zero faults the test instructor was brilliant very calming, friendly put me at ease as had nerves cannot recommend this test centre enough and the area to drive is nice aswel Iv failed in previous centres belverdere and Sidcup and I would say Bromley is so much better. Overall experience was great!

Negative experience: Examiner Ava needs to be taken in hand up by the test centre manager and DVSA. She is very racist, rude and unprofessional. Her face, body language and tone does not fit the job she is doing. She needs to understand the DVSA test and marking standards. She is not in her living room relaxing. She sits in the car as thought she is upset and don't want to be there. She create a tense and unhuman environment for pupil taking test. Alot of time and monet goes into preparing for a test only to be torn apart by a person that dosent enjoy her job.

Fantastic experience: Passed my test today. My examiner Chris was amazingly professional, and helped me immensely to do my best despite being quite nervous at times. I can't compliment him enough, a great example of how to do your job fairly, respectfully and politely. If you see a test slot at Bromley - grab it!

Positive experience: Just passed my driving test here today! Examiner was a lady called Jenny - she wasn't overly chatty but really lovely nonetheless and made me feel quite at ease! Be careful when arriving for your test / pulling out on your test - the bay parking area is very tight and usually has cars parked right in fron of the bays which doesn't help in a stressful environment!

Fantastic experience: I had a test in Oct and the examiner was polite and helpful. I forgot his but can say it was the best and passed my test in my first attempt.

Fantastic experience: I passed first time on Monday with Shane. He was extremely friendly, made me feel at ease and helped calm me down drastically. He made me feel ad if we were friends, no stress at all.

Positive experience: I just passed my driving test in this test centre. I had Tony the first time and after that I had Lisa. Lisa was a very nice lady, she noticed I felt really nervous and she helped calmed my nerves down, Tony was a nice guy too. I just want to thank both of them for helping me pass my driving test and now I’m a qualified driver!

Fantastic experience: The best driving center in Bromley! Passed my test today and Lisa has helped me to calm down and very patient with me! My instructor Matt Shurmer Automatic Driving School has given me immense supports and I cannot thank Matt enough for helping me to pass the test! If you need an automatic driving instructor you need Matt Shurmer 100%! He is the best in the areas! Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I passed my driving Test today on my first attempt . My Driving Examiner was Shane and he is such a nice man. I felt really comfortable having him as my examiner. Upon approach he has a calm aura and is quite patient and polite. I would recommend Shane anyday. THANK YOU SO MUCH SHANE!!!! This exam was soo calm and I am very happy that I passed. My instructor was also a wonder to work with. STEVE'S DRIVING SCHOOL in Foresthill was a blessing and is a GREAT instructor.

Negative experience: My examiner was literally huffing and puffing throughout my whole test and literally gave me attitude. Wouldn’t even allow me to park the car properly at the end of my test and was rude. Unacceptable for someone who is supposed to be an examiner ???

Fantastic experience: I took 2 tests at this test centre. First time was a fail in January and the second one was a pass yesterday. Both of my examiners were great. I am not the type of person who can keep calm during tests, especially in a test knowing that if I failed, I would have to wait for another 5-6 months to take the next one (thanks to covid backlog). Both examiners were very kind, giving clear directions, and most importantly they helped me to keep calm. I wish I was good with names but unfortunately I don't remember their name. I can't thank them enough.

Fantastic experience: I personally find Bromley testing area very good to take the driving test, thanks to my driver instructor Arnet @knightsdrivingschool who is very knowledgeable in all their routes. Also I was so lucky to have Tony as my examiner. Tony was very patient, fair and helping the candidate to stay calm, certainly it’s a plus under the circumstances. Fantastic experience: Jenny was awesome and about the best examiner i ve come across throughout my long licensing journey till I passed today. Her positive demeanour right from the start of the test took away all my nerves and anxieties. She explained everything clearly and made sure that I understood them and answered all follow up questions politely. She doesn't make you feel like you're being observed and tested, but rather, she makes a person feel like how one should be when doing normal driving. For those still out there, please don’t give up, keep training, keep getting better, i know it cost money & time but it is worth it, one day your time ll come and you ll be successful.

Fantastic experience: Passed Back in March First Time , The Test was with Lisa honestly an Angel in disguise, was nervous at first but she made me feel so calm and chill that the test went so quick that I thought at first I failed till I was told I passed and was in complete shock how easy and quick it bloody went. Positive experience: After failing in bromley three times, I passed at another driving test centre!!!! Don’t give up!!!! Your time will come, even if you have to try another test centre, do that. P.S: I saw a comment where someone had posted about ignoring bad reviews because the person “probably needs more experience or having a bad day”. I just want to say, that is not always the case and people should not be afraid to share their experience whether it’s good or bad. People have the right to feel how they feel. It’s not easy finding another test date after failing a test. Next test date might be another 4-6 months away and that in itself is already frustrating. Some may not be lucky to pass at the first attempt. When I last did my test in Bromley, I was told by the examiner that I was a competent driver but they still failed me. I believed in myself and knew that I could drive and took the decision to try another test centre after I was not getting anywhere in the last 3 attempts in Bromley. I had to learn a new driving route within two weeks and passed at another test centre on the fourth attempt. Moral of the story, no one should ever disregard anyone’s experiences whether good or bad. It’s YOUR personal experience.

Fantastic experience: I passed the test. When I faced with examiner I got the confidence of passing. My examiner Chris, was very kind and generous. Besides with this most important to chose a good instructor for passing a test, my instructor Devon was very kind and helpful.

Fantastic experience: I had my driving test earlier this week at Bromley and it was a very pleasant and enriching experience throughout the test. Chris was my examiner and he is a true legend. He is kind, precise and explains everything in detail to ensure you understand the process and well equipped for the test. My nerves were settled from his welcoming attitude right from the start and his calmness has created a positive energy for me. I must mention the general misconception around the rigidness of driving examiners is fallacious, they are caring people who understand the nerves and do everything in their remit to make you feel comfortable and poised. Fantastic experience: I’ve previously had test in Sidcup and Hither Green, Sidcup being the worst, I thought hither Green was the best but bromley by far is the best. My examiner Shane was a wonderful human being and was an absolute pleasure. He’s a very smart individual and very caring as he calmed down my nerves and anxiety in a huge way. Fantastic experience: I passed today with jenny as my examiner. I was nervous about having my test early in the morning (7 50) but jenny made me feel very comfortable and at ease. This really took the pressure off and i was able to go ahead and concentrate on driving. Thanks jenny!

Fantastic experience: i went for my test on the 28th March and had Tony as my examiner - straight after introducing ourselves he asked how I was feeling, assured me that i would be absolutely fine and generally had a very calming and positive tone (my instructor even told me as he called my name that he was lovely, and as per usual, she was right!) throughout the duration of my test he was quiet, but not in a scary judgemental way like i had thought an examiner may be - he entertained my constant nattering to myself with polite laughter or a comment every now and then (even though i was just waffling for 95% of the time and definitely wasn’t making much sense), and maintained an air of professionalism without fault the entire journey. so many people told me in the lead up to my test that it was scary and that they were glad they never had to do it again, but even if i hadn’t passed on Tuesday afternoon, i can assure you that my nerves would be stilled and my confidence would be peaked regardless. it takes a well-rounded individual to be professional in a high stress environment (for both the learner and the examiner - i know i’d be nervous if i was getting into someone’s car without knowing how well they could control it!); and it takes a great person to put another’s feelings and nerves above their own. Tony did both perfectly, and he really is a fantastic reflection of a great body of staff at the test centre - thank you so so much!

Negative experience: Met a racist examiner today. So rude and incompetent. Have filed a formal complaint against her to DVLA. For your knowledge, appealing can take a month, and will not change anything. Complain the examiner directly to DVLA and they will respond within 10 days. We will see how they respond. Escalations will be followed if the results are not satisfiable.

Fantastic experience: Pass my test a couple of days ago,at Bromley test centre. Before my test I was very anxious, but within five minutes with Lisa my examiner I was very calm, reassured and it didn’t feel as if I’m taking a test. Lisa was calm, friendly manner, and very professional. I do hope all examiner at this centre have this approach. Lisa you’re the best!!!

Fantastic experience: Shane at the Bromley test centre is probably the best I've ever encountered. He validated my feelings of anxiety and gave me some breathing and relaxation tips before we even began the testing. He is so relatable and nonjudgemental that he actually restored my faith in humanity. He doesn't make you feel like you're being observed and tested, and rather, makes a person feel like how one should feel when they're driving under daily circumstances. I really appreciated him. Fantastic experience: I’ve done two tests here at Bromley and even though I didn’t pass the first time it was entirely my own fault, Eva was very fair and gave helpful feedback. After trying a different test centre due to cancellations, I came back to Bromley and finally passed today with Tony and couldn’t have had a better experience. He really helped put me at ease and was professional but friendly, which allowed me to focus on my driving and pass with only two minor faults! Having been to another test centre in SE London, I could see the difference and would always recommend Bromley now! Thank you Tony :)

I want to say a huge thank you to my examiner, Lisa, whose pleasant and friendly manner really helped calm me down and enjoy the test. Fantastic experience: Taking my driving test at Bromley test centre was a great experience. My examiner was friendly and professional, and made me feel at ease throughout the whole process.

Negative experience: Lisa failed my partner for the most pety fault. She failed him on observation of a cyclist approaching on his left where he was turning right into Burnt Ash Lane. The cyclist was least more than 100 metres away from his car. This was considered a major fault (5 minutes into the exam). So you'd think Lisa would stop the driving test then & there, but NO she let the test continue where my partner drove the whole test route. Doesn't make sense carrying on with the test if you failed 5 minutes in surely. Now he is having to scramble to book a new test and finding new dates is a nightmare with DVSA.

Fantastic experience: My first understanding of the test center were it would be a challenge to get pass as a learner. I found roads around Bromley test centre were quite challenging compared to other nearby test centres like Hither green. However, as I started practicing I found its all about learning, still I was quite terrified by the name of "TEST". The experience of my practical driving test were millions times more than I expected. All because of Shane, whose I am a fan now. He helped me to calm down as we set off. He gave me the assurance that of understanding that it can be a nerve taking experience, which helped me not being nervous and just focus on my driving. Apart form the test itself, I have learnt new perspectives of life and a quick crush course of managing life. He gave me such an excellent opportunity to feel better that would stay with me forever beyond just the driving test. I am a complete fan of him as a human being. I believe Bromley test centre is lucky to have such an interesting person. I hope all future learners get to enjoy impactful conversation with the examinars like Shane. All the best for Shane

Fantastic experience: My nervousness and anxiety is always at its peak with test and I can say that I was completely at ease! Shane who was my examiner did an amazing job in calming me down, helping me with my anxiety, speaking positively and most importantly breathing exercises! He is a lovely gentleman and I honestly wish him the best! My experience with him was 10/10, very professional as well.

Negative experience: You can pretend it's for the safety of the drivers but in fact you do your business here. We will appeal your decision for failing our daughter test for 1 mistake. You stated that she didn't check on the left while turning right. Really? How is it fisically possible at all?? Shame on you.

Negative experience: Bad experience. Eva was very aggressive from the beginning and behaved in a manner that suggested she was out to fail me no matter how good i drove. DVSA should allow supervisors or an independent person to accompany these examiners since they are not happy to see our instructors in the car to ensure that decisions are fair and balanced. We dont mind if given the option to pay for a supervisor. Leaving this important decision to one person who may abuse this privilege for selfish reason is not fair on students. AVOID THIS PLACE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!

Fantastic experience: Had my driving test today, lovely examiner (Shane) really comforting whilst I was on my drive.

Positive experience: This test centre has a decent waiting room with toilets. The car park to start your test from is around the back of the centre and shops. The examiners usually meet you by your car at the booked test time. Try not to arrive more than 5mins before that. All the examiners I've met here are professional and fair in their assessments

Negative experience: Failed in my first attempt for one very small driving mistake for awareness planning. Awareness fault for not being in correct lane for turn well before..not sure what is expectations for passing..they need perfect drive from beginners? There should be some tolerance for small errors which are not dangerous or unsafe driving .Not sure if the test centre has quota to fail some percentage.

Fantastic experience: Although the test center is located in Burnt Ash lane, candidates need to wait at the DVSA parking lot behind the building (after Lidl parking lot), where the examiners expect to meet you dot in time. Now the rating would vary on personal experience and test outcome, so your milage may vary. I was fortunate to have Eva as examiner, and contrary to other reviews she turned out to be polite, calm and professional. Her instructions were clear, and the minor faults she noted were all fair calls. The route we took were a good mix of main and residential roads, and we've been traffucked a few times due to morning peak hours. Still then road hazards were fewer, but remember to watch out for careless pedestrians in quiet streets.

Fantastic experience: My first experience at this centre was COMPLETELY different from my second. I had my test today with Tony, and hes was just outstanding. He was kind, calm, and professional. I cannot thank him enough for making what is a nerve-wracking experience so much more pleasant.

Negative experience: Make sure you bring a compass, a map and an ouija board to be ready to start the quest of finding the test centre, they barely have any signs to tell you where it actually is,and if you call the centre to get some directions no one will answer. But that's not even the worst part once you finally get there they will cancel your test because you were 10 minutes late, offering no return options, wasting your time and money. If you wanna waste your money this is the best centre that you could pick if you actually wanna accomplish something go and get your business done somewhere else.

Negative experience: My daughter and also her friend had tests this week. The center itself is great. Most of the test teachers and great and also very fair. Unfortunately I witnessed my daughters friend have the most unpleasant experience, which was extremely unfair and very unprofessional. The woman's name was Eva that took the test . Before they even got into the car what I witnessed was extremely cruel. The woman Eva was very rude, aggressive and nasty. Her communication was so unprofessional and ever so unkind. She seemed so angry immediately. This was very unsettling for everyone, especially for the person that is about to take the test. I do not believe this woman should even be allowed to work with young people if she is going to be so vile.

Negative experience: I'm absolutely gutted. The address in the booking confirmation is not the address of the test itself. The office address is located in a busy High Street with limited parking lots available, I had to stop far away from the location. I got at the centre earlier, filled out this form with my info, and kept waiting in the waiting room until a man showed up and told me that the test would happen in the car park bay, which is not mentioned in the confirmation, and that someone would find me at the car. I followed the instructions and ended up at this Lidl Car Park, and kept waiting for someone to show up for more than 10 minutes. After 10 minutes I decided to go back to the office just to be informed that they waited for me and I did not show up, so I could not have the test at that point anymore. It seems I was waiting in the wrong car park. The area itself is a mess, there is a construction site, and no signs or instructions that clearly inform the DVSA car parking. They had my phone number, they could have called me, I would not simply disappear. I still have no idea where the parking is, and I'm feeling stupid for such a poor service.

Positive experience: My first experience at this centre was not good. The examiner’s attitude made me feel very anxious during my test. I was planning to change the centre, but I decided to try again before. Today I got a different examiner, and the feeling was completely different. I had a very nice experience, so I decided to write this review. The examiner, called Shane, he was very professional, gentle and polite, creating a better atmosphere, especially at the beginning of the test. He gave me clear instructions and his calm posture during the test made a lot of difference in the way I felt during the driving. I could not thank him enough! I’m glad I’ve got him as my examiner today! Thank you Shane!
