Negative experience: Do not book. Guy is always late, after the first block he started cancelling and taking the piss. I then told him I wanted to cancel my lessons, he went to extreme measures to charge me £109 administration fee of my 10 hour block, which I had payed £380 for. After he realised I wasn’t going to fall for his stupid scheme, he refunded me a reasonable amount but tried blaming the “administration people” for the fee

In comparison, other schools/instructors I'd also applied for had taken up to 7 days before getting back to me and would pair me with instructors totally unable to meet my timings. Albert was instrumental in helping me become an independent driver and gain confidence. He was considerate in booking me extra sessions at times, which I really appreciated given his busy schedule. He went through all the subjects at a mindful pace, and helped me understand the rules and etiquettes. I'd highly recommend him. Thank you, Albert! I am obligated to add (for public) that watching YouTube videos also helped me learn extra useful notes and tips. It's worth watching at least 10 hours of YouTube videos for the test centre you have booked at. There are plenty of them. Good luck

Fantastic experience: I've been learning to drive since 2018 and I started driving lessons in August 2023 with Albert after having done 3 other tests with other instructors. I chose Albert's driving school because of his amazing reviews and I am delighted that I did as I passed at West Wickham. Albert is one of the kindest and most patient instructors I have had. He explains things incredibly clearly and always takes time to repeat things if I didn't understand. When it came to the manoeuvres I struggled when I first came to Albert, but he explains things so simply he made it really easy for me to understand and do it well on the test. Turning right I used to steer wide but Albert's handy tips about keeping the front of the car at the point of turn helped me massively. Even with the driving lessons, Albert was always flexible to work around my schedule and find a time that worked well for me. He prepared me thoroughly for the test and I am incredibly pleased and excited to start my driving journey. I couldn't have done it without all of his help. I would 100% recommend Albert to anyone looking for a kind, patient, joyful, knowledgeable driving instructor. Albert you are a star! Thank you so so so much.

Fantastic experience: I did my driving practice with Albert, and I realized he was a super positive, informative, professional and friendly teacher after the first lesson. Given the fact that in my home country road signs and manners are not taken as seriously as in a developed country like the UK, he had to remind me of etiquettes and safety rules of driving several times - at every corner. As a matter of fact, I drove cars in my home country for years, but now I'm in a developed country and I needed someone like Albert to teach me how to drive safely. Thankfully, he did not give up on me and helped me consolidate those life saving instructions into my memory and driving behaviours. Besides, my theory test expiry date was coming up, so I was in a hurry to do a test. But that didn't affect him, and he showed professionalism and encouraged me to stay calm and keep practicing. At the same time, he had my situation in mind and found me a cancellation and here I am. Interestingly, I passed in a neighbourhood that I was not familiar with at all. I did almost all my practice in Croydon/Mitcham area. I drove about one and half hours in West Wickam with Albert, when we realized that's where my test is going to be. This says a lot about his methods and professionalism which is about to learn driving safe for life, not just to pass a test -and not only in one area. So, doing the test in a new area did not affect my driving skills and manners. His confidence in my driving helped me, too. He knew as a good teacher, he has done a great job, so he assured me doing the test in a new neighbourhood will not be a big deal. Now, my wife is taking his course and she's as comfortable with his course as I was. I really recommend him to everyone, especially if you have a similar background to mine. Thanks a lot, Albert!

Fantastic experience: I couldn't recommend Albert Driving School enough. Albert is a great teacher and he made my lessons enjoyable and always something I looked forward to. I started without ever having driving a car, I'm 43. 40 hours of lessons later and I passed first time. Although I was confident when driving I wasn't confident that I would pass my test, and I was considering cancelling it but Albert had the confidence that I was ready and he was right. Alberts car is clean and easy to drive, although I have stalled it many times. Now that I have passed my test I will sign up for the Pass Plus course that Albert offers.

I passed my driving test at Mitcham and he made sure that I am very confident in driving. He taught me really well and helped me calm my nerves. He is very skilled and recommend him for driving classes.

Positive experience: I took over 30 hours of lessons with him and in general I was happy. He's cool, explains well and has a great teaching method. Unfortunately he also seemed quite overbooked and taking lessons with him became quite painful. I even paid him an extra at a point in return of 3 lessons/week which he said was fine, yet that never materialised, instead I actually had to wait 3 weeks for my next lesson even though I had just paid 450 for 10 hours. Eventually I claimed that our agreement had not been fulfilled and he granted me another 2 extra hours, which essentially cost me £130. I am not a teenager anymore and I expected to need some time to learn, yet Albert seemed to be slowing me down on purpose. For instance, I spent over 10 hours unable to use the clutch well around first gear, I told him at least 3 times I may need some advice as I could see I was struggling, his answer was always "you'll get to it, don't worry". Yet my new instructor saw my problem, stopped me, taught me, and in one single lesson I got it, I was using the clutch much better and barely stalled the car at all. It really didn't take me THAT long once I'm explained things. Kind of the same happened with maneuvers, I had done over 30 hours of driving and I had to ask for some maneuver practice. He said we would that day, we spent most of the lesson just driving and then just 5 minutes making a very simple maneuver. On the bright side I believe his explanation and teaching technique was great, on the other just 5 minutes of maneuvering was clearly insufficient and he seemed to be slowing me down on purpose so I would pay for 100+ lessons just because I can afford it. And even though we did lots of driving, he spent most of the time checking his phone or on different calls, not really teaching me. My new instructor noticed I was not checking the mirrors as often as I should and became super annoying with me until I did this right. I knew actually, and had sometimes mentioned this to Albert, that I had forgotten to check the mirror like an "oops" but he would just say "dont worry, you'll get to it". But the thing is, I was driving in general quite well but made the same mistakes again and again which he just didn't mention and instead just let me do them while checking his phone. Finally, scheduling was nearly impossible, he usually wouldn't tell me when I would have the next lesson, and could send me an SMS any day of the week offering a lesson the next day or the other. So you basically need to have 100% availability for him as planning any weekend out or anything could mean losing the usually only lesson a week we would make even though he always promised we would be doing more lessons "soon". On top of all of that, he was usually late for the lessons and took us to Addiscombe which took around 10 minutes to go, same to come back and we would finish the lessons usually 5-10 minutes before the time. Not that I want to be picky, but as I couldn't take that many lessons every minute counts and I was being taught for 1h 30min instead of 2 hours on each lesson, which adds to the frustration. All in all I still think he is a very good instructor, but for some reason he seemed to be taking advantage of me by slowing down my learning curve, not scheduling properly and promising more lessons but never delivering on such promises. Months were going by and I was barely advancing. Got another instructor and everything was much better.
