HMS Collingwood: Reviews
Positive experience: I bet it's changed a lot since I was stationed there in the late 1970's.
Fantastic experience: excellent for a family day out on openday will be back next year
Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed my time here. People were excellent.
Fantastic experience: Xmas 23. Fab.
Fantastic experience: Excelent people, very Friends
Negative experience: Been outed in the newspapers on the terrible living conditions. As revenge they have made the whole base do a litter sweep
Fantastic experience: Great
Negative experience: Very unhelpful with info I was after, as was HMS Sultan, HMS Nelson, and Portsmouth dockyard.
Negative experience: Royal Navy training establishment. Food is worst across any bases I've been too. Full of people who don't know how to control themselves when giving some form of management status aka bellends.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic day out, the shows were amazing put on by everyone involved, my 14 year old son actually enjoyed himself lol Well done to all the navy personnel for keeping our country safe. Looking forward to the next one.. X
Fantastic experience: Brilliant day. Think more viewing seats and food and drink outlets would if made the day better, but we enjoyed the day anyway.
Fantastic experience: Great open day celebrations fantastic day out. Looking forward to next year. The Punch and Judy show had the children shouting and enjoying the show, and the adults loved it just as much. Bouncy castles, Round abouts. Magic shows. Balloon modelling. Plenty of other stalls to look at too. Just a great experience. Well done H.M.S. Collingwood.
Positive experience: Good day out
Fantastic experience: Great open day at HMS Collingwood.
Fantastic experience: Impressive silverware and cutlery.
Negative experience: Accommodation is poor heating and hot water regularly go off, and food is woeful.
Fantastic experience: Top bunch of personnel, delivered fuel here last year, top lads, professional, helpful, and courteous. Obviously photos are not appropriate MOD base.
Positive experience: Great experience
Fantastic experience: As you would expect, it isn't easy to gain entry, good job done by the security bods
Positive experience: Good in living experience for members
Fantastic experience: My brother works there so hospitality is amazing
Fantastic experience: Good jogging routes, poor accommodation (no heating, I had to buy a heater at the neighbouring ASDA) and avoid the scran.
Fantastic experience: Very efficient and helpful pass office car park closed
Negative experience: Good heating. If they could amend the legionella, insect infestation, asbestos, occurring power cuts and canteen queues that are a mile long it would be great.
Fantastic experience: Amazing very helpful and polite very friendly service and staff
Fantastic experience: It's a military training establishment with fantastic lighting
Positive experience: Roads are shocking.
Negative experience: If you're here for a long stay, I'd purchase a mobile broadband device as the WiFi here is absolutely terrible.
Positive experience: IWORK HERE
Negative experience: The majority of the showers in the accommodation blocks do not get warm at all. The heating does not work in most areas. Freezing cold. Accommodation is run down and requires renovating. This place is a nightmare.
Fantastic experience: Great place for ambulance stand by McDonald's across the road.
Positive experience: I was here in 2002-2004.Missed all the great time there and all my friends in WESA 013A.
Fantastic experience: Spent many happy working years here. Great people.
Negative experience: Still s@%t. Still no wi-fi.
Fantastic experience: Field gun day is a great time
Fantastic experience: Turned me from a boy to a man Excellent training establishment in 1959
Negative experience: Lack of anything useful on Base, no hot water, no heating
Negative experience: Absolutely dire conditions, ships company have no heating, no washing facilities & no water (taps, toilets, washing machines, showers, the lot). People are having to relieve themselves in the car parks or against the walls as they are faced with a 15 minute walk to the next available facility, some cabins are polluted by the smell if 2 day-old jobbies as there was no notice of the water being turned off & no alternative accommodation offered. This, sadly, is an annual occurrence due to the poor maintenance & lack of investment in the decades old infrastructure. The two positives seen this year are the reduction in rat infestation, & the lack of large scale water leaks. However, the mouldy, stained carpets do little to convey this
Fantastic experience: Artificer training est. excellent.
Positive experience: I was in mechanician class 10R of 1978 and did electronics as a po it was a very good place to be
Positive experience: Trained here 45 years ago with 42 Commando, loved it
Negative experience: Becase It's bad base .
Negative experience: Prisoners of war get fed and treated better.
Positive experience: I was in h m s collingwood in1953 for a couple of months and made some good friends everybody was sane enough except for the gunnery instructors where roaring and screaming had to be tolerated for a few hours each day
Fantastic experience: Great place and good to all recruitment
Negative experience: I heat this school
