Fantastic experience: Phil west is an excellent driving instructor and person. He makes you feel comfortable and safe at all times very confident and structured instructor I can’t recommend anyone better honestly.

Negative experience: Firstly this school is a pretty much a money minded enterprise. I hired West as my driving instructor for a lesson. He insisted that I take 2 hours together so that he could assess my driving and evaluate the lessons accordingly. He shared a huge documents of print out and asked me to bring it on the day of the lesson. Little did i know he wanted to buy my time by simply going through the documents. Trust me he let me drive for 5 minutes out of those 2 hours and said he assessed my driving and i require at least 48 hrs of lessons. I sat there behind the wheel looking at his mouth like i was in a classroom. What kind of assessment would that be ? If he really were genuine he should have refunded my lesson cost or say that he would adjust my payment in my next lesson . Because all the information he shared were theories which u can find it easily online. Come on, it’s a practical driving test for god sakes. And when i refused to take additional lessons he got furious and started cursing me that i end up with very bad instructor and fail my tests. All these 5 star reviews u see here are pretty much fake. But if u still continue to go ahead with this school, just make sure u have enough bank balance because he is going to be after it. GOOD LUCK

Fantastic experience: A huge thank you to Spencer, who was a highly skilled, patient and professional instructor throughout my learning. His calming presence allowed me to build up the skills and confidence I needed and I was able to pass today at Hornchurch (1st time) with just 2 driving faults. I highly recommend Wests, and Spencer, for anyone who is looking to set out on the road to passing their test. Don’t think twice and book up with them!

Phil was very proactive in every lesson and tailored them to my skills. He also had a very good balance of normal conversation and tutoring, which made the lessons enjoyable and less stressful. Fantastic experience: Brilliant instructor and experience! I was a complete beginner when I first joined West's Driving School. After a few lessons with the main man, Phil West, I no longer felt like a beginner. He was not only great at teaching me the methods to the maneuvers but also helping me mentally with my driving. Fantastic experience: Amazing Driving School, Phil was an incredible instructor, he was kind, calm, patient and overall great teacher. when I first came to him I was a horrible driver but Phil taught me the basics of driving and slowly built my confidence up. He taught me in a really nice and composed manner which really helped me out. He taught me all the manoeuvres perfectly, he taught me great discipline on different kinds of roads so when it came to my test I was confident in my driving abilities and I passed almost faultless. it was a real pleasure and joy to learn from such a great instructor and I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking for driving lessons

He wants people to learn as quickly as possible, but never rushed into anything. If he is available, I can't see a reason why anyone would not want to learn from him.

Fantastic experience: Being nervous and anxious about driving has prevented me from learning to drive for quite some time, but having Gary as an instructor made things a lot easier. He was calm, knowledgable, and broke things down in ways that were easy for me to remember. He was flexible with arranging lesson times, working around my work schedule. Having previously had two instructors from a different company I was blown away with the level of detail and attention Gary showed in every lesson giving me more confidence and explaining driving to me so clear in a way that no instructor has before. Fantastic experience: Before learning to drive, I was nervous and didn’t know what to expect. However, because of my driving instructor, Andy, I am now a calm and confident driver who passed first time due to his lessons. The lessons themselves are thorough and provide the learner with all the necessary skills they need to be a better driver while managing to keep the lessons enjoyable and fun. Because of this I enjoy driving and try to drive at every possible opportunity. All I have to say is good things about Andy and I would recommend him to anyone looking to start driving.

Fantastic experience: After taking driving lessons on and off, I really did it have the confidence in driving. That was until I started taking lessons with Andy from West’s driving school. He instantly put me at ease and taught me how to drive in a constructive and positive way. As I took lessons with Andy, I found my confidence building and I found I was worried about driving anymore. I started to enjoy it. Although it was tricky during COVID and having to stop and start lessons, I was confident to take on new challenges with driving and did not stress as much as I did before. After a fluctuating driving journey, I am now proud to say that I have passed my driving test on my first attempt today. Fantastic experience: I want to thank Gary personally for his time and effort in teaching me and being patient throughout our lessons. Not only is he an amazing instruction who takes the time to understand how each student learns and applies that in the lessons, he’s very patient even when I had a hard time learning. The first day of meeting he provided me with a very extensive guide covering all topics from various types of manoeuvres to road signs. He made sure I was prepared to pass the test and driving AFTER the test from day 1. Having 10 years experience driving in America, I struggled understanding UK road rules and Gary always found a way to explain things using applicable examples. He always made sure to walk me through the task ahead of time to ensure I was comfortable once we got on the road. Not only did he take the time to teach me when I really struggled (i.e. i would burst into tears) he would always remain calm, patient, and encouraging until I got it right. He reminds you to celebrate your wins and push just the right amount when you have a hard grasping things. There was never a dull moment during the lessons as Gary not only created a professional but fun environment, which allowed me to relax and take my time as we run through manoeuvres and general driving. I don’t think I would have been able to pass the way I did without Gary as my instructor. Thank you so so much Gary and Wests School!!!!! It’s been a great having someone like Gary in your corner encouraging and simply having faith in you.

Fantastic experience: Wests driving school has been a very professional and resourceful company to go through my journey of getting my license. Firstly, I was positively surprised that they provide you with a very comprehensive guide that covers all key tips and information you will need to be a better and safe driver. Gary, who was my instructor took his time to walk me through all this information, giving me the knowledge and power to be able to apply the theory to the practical. Gary has been an incredible instructor and really focused on what my learning mechanisms might be to escalate my growth as well as make it an enjoyable experience. He has been very patient and supportive throughout my journey. It is so refreshing see how passionate Gary is with his job and how much feedback he gives you after every lesson. There are such fundamental driving and awareness tips that Gary has provided through every lesson, that I will take away for my entire life. It’s been really helpful to have quantitative rather than descriptive teaching styles, for example understanding the ideal speed range before approaching a bend or roundabout. Gary has also helped me build my confidence on the road and always had faith in me when I was doubtful. I really do appreciate the reminders of areas that need more focusing and also the opportunity to work on areas that I felt less comfortable with. Gary is always well up to date with rules and changes to the Highway Code or driving regulations. I managed to pass my driving test in the first time with Gary and Wests School. I could not have chosen a better instructor to go through this journey with. I’ve not only managed to secure my license, but also gain confidence and become a better driver. Gary is truly commendable at his job and being very friendly and caring is a bonus! Thank you Gary and Wests School!

Fantastic experience: My instructor Spencer was excellent. He not only taught me the skills to pass my test, he taught me skills to drive confidently and to recognise hazards early and take appropriate action. As a result I passed my test with only 2 minor faults.

Gary is fun but by far he is the most patient and supportive instructor, he is very knowledgeable and made me feel super confident behind the wheel. Fantastic experience: A huge thank you to my driving instructor Peter Sacre: The thought of driving a car truly terrified my before I began my lessons with Peter. However, his excellent teaching and empathetic nature quickly eased my fears and enabled me to feel confident behind the wheel. Today, I passed with just two minors and for that I have Peter to thank. A truly outstanding instructor and a fantastic individual to learn alongside. Would wholeheartedly recommend!

Fantastic experience: In mid July 2020 I found Wests School of Motoring and booked their 10 hour introductory offer of £205 for a manual. I had 0 experience and was placed with a great instructor, Peter. He taught me some great tips and how to drive on general roads, no test routes specifically (which is a broader understanding and better way to learn how to drive, not just pass a test). Today, at 30 hours in and on my 1st attempt, I passed my practical. IN A PANDEMIC. Ooo we love to see it! ✨ Thank you Peter for being patient and understanding. Honestly a great man and teacher, down to earth and made me feel so comfortable! Wish him all the best in his future of teaching. Can’t wait to get on the road. Thanks a bunch. Would recommend

Fantastic experience: My daughter Angel , after having lessons with Phil passed her test yesterday at Barking with zero faults. The Test centre instructor said it was a “perfect drive” Thanks to Phil’s patience and professionalism she was able to pass in quick time and now has the freedom a driving licence brings. Fantastic experience: My driving instructor was Andy, and thanks to him I am pleased to say I passed 1st time. When I started with Andy I had already had one previous driving instructor from a different school, with whom I found myself stressing out and panicking in the car. As soon as I began lessons with Andy I felt far more comfortable and relaxed in the car, instructions were clear and concise. All of this made me feel confident, comfortable and relaxed for my test, can’t thank him enough!

Fantastic experience: Changed driving instructor from Alfie’s to west’s litterly 12 days before my test, I got Gary.. can not be any more pleased with him, passed first time on my practical,very professional and easy to talk to.. explains things very clear aswell and works so hard to get you to pass, thank you west’s and thank you mainly to Gary!! Fantastic experience: Peter was my instructor and I passed first time with 3 minors! I'm really happy as I'm usually away for University and originally was supposed to have my test up in Nottingham. Peter really helped me with alot of the issues I had with driving and the rules of the road as well as giving me structured and simple methods with maneuvers that work a treat! 10/10 would recommend.

Fantastic experience: I just passed my driving test with Wests at the first attempt. Really grateful for the service after multiple failed tests with other driving schools/instructors. Chose a test date within one week of booking date...unfortunately my prevoius instructor had quit the profession due the covid19 cancellations...i had to find a new driving tutor, i called Wests School of Motoring after a quick internet such. Phil the owner did his best to assign me Dave, who was very professional and diligent...Dave ironed out my driving issues in the short time (a week)..after a few lessons i was confident enough to pass the test...with very few minors. Many thanks to Wests School of Motoring.

Fantastic experience: If you’re looking for a confident, automatic driving instructor then I would recommend Kathy. As soon I started learning with her, she took complete trust and continued to push and encourage me to become a confident and safe driver. We didn’t waste anytime in the car talking about what we’re going to do and how we’re going to do it, wasting time parked up. Instead she taught me in the most supportive and bold way, in practice. I can’t thank her enough for helping me to pass my test, after having a number of other instructors that failed to teach me the way she did. I will be recommending her if I know anyone that needs an automatic driving instructor! Finally, she is not only a great instructor, she is a, marvellous, fearless woman.
