Fantastic experience: The team at 1st gear were really friendly, helpful and made sure that you knew everything that was needed to pass your tests. They were also very helpful in providing guidance on how to maintain your bike and what to look out for. I would highly recommend 1st Gear, My suggestion is if you are looking to get your full bike license then you will be given the all the guidance, support and encouragement to ensure you will pass with flying colours. Fantastic experience: Just passed my full A licence (starting from scratch with my CBT) with the team at 1st Gear. What a brilliant bunch of people: fantastic, friendly customer service and organisation from Michelle; genuine care, huge enthusiasm and interest in the trainees’ goals from Andy and expert tuition (and some great stories!) from Stefan, Jacko and Dave. The equipment used and training site are also excellent, with loads of space to practice. I felt confident that they wanted to make me a proficient rider and not just get me through the tests and that improved my approach to riding dramatically. Every day I was there, former students were dropping in for a catch up with the guys who had trained them, which I think demonstrates the holistic approach that the team have developed. I’ll be staying in touch for sure. Don’t go anywhere else if you’re thinking of getting your motorcycle licence.

Fantastic experience: I'm so glad I went with 1st for my full bike license and regret not previously doing my CBT with them too! I passed first time on my Mod 1 and Mod 2 tests and only because the instructors were so patient and explained everything so well. I picked up lots of bad habits before I started my training with them but they were so helpful in teaching me how to ride safely and sensibly, especially on a bigger bike. The site is really well set up for all the training and I enjoyed every minute when we were out on the road for Mod 2 practices. I can't thank them enough! I will always recommend to anyone wanting to learn how to ride!

Fantastic experience: Massive thanks to all the team at 1st Gear from day 1 instruction right through Mod 1 and Mod 2 tests, Andy and his expert crew of Dave, Jezz and Jacko helped me build the skills, confidence and practice time to pass 1st time. It’s the perfect set-up off-road to hone your bike-craft, and all the on-road stuff is actual test routes around farnborough, aldershot, ash vale and fleet. Well maintained and modern bikes, brilliant structure to the lessons and an impressive pass rate. I can’t thank you enough guys… and Michelle in the office planned it all perfectly. I’ll miss it!

Fantastic experience: I booked a 4 day course for my A2 licence with 1st gear. From start to finish everyone was supportive and the knowledge they have is immense. Passing both my Mod 1 and Mod 2 first time. The site is great with lots of space to build some confidence with the bike before hitting the road and a great area to practice the Mod 1 drills. I will definitely be back for any future courses and recommend everyone does the same

Fantastic experience: What can I say? 1st Gear Motorcycle Training were absolutely fantastic. They have something special about them, the whole experience was incredible. I had a great laugh with Michelle when I was booking my training, she put me at ease with her witty comments and made the admin side of it brilliant. When it came to my training, I was really nervous as I hadn’t been on a bike for over 40 years. I needn’t of worried about anything, the whole team were just fantastic. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them they would be my go to for anyone who wants to pass. I had an absolute blast.

Fantastic experience: Under my partners name as I don’t have a google account. Completed my CBT, training, mod 1 and 2 here after years of not riding. The instructors here helped get my confidence back and gave me tips and advice wherever needed. Had a few different instructors over the different days and all of them were brilliant and genuinely interested in you being safe and confident on the road. Fantastic experience: Highly recommend. I did a refresher CBT, MOD1 and MOD2 with training for full category A. The training not only specifically helped with the test routes, but also made me a far more confident rider. Unfortunately I didn't pass my MOD 2 on first attempt, but the team could not have been more helpful in getting me rebooked for another test (which I then passed with 0 faults). High quality training and a very helpful team who genuinely want to make you the best rider that you can be and you can tell have a real passion for what they do.

Fantastic experience: Just completed my Mod 1 and 2 training with 1st gear resulting in passes for both. A great experience all round starting with Michelle in the office who was an excellent communicator, very efficient and accommodating. The Yamaha MT-07 bikes were smart, reliable and well maintained. The instructors I had, Dave, Jacko and Andy were all enthusiastic, knowledgeable and genuinely keen to develop their trainees. Thoroughly recommend 1st gear.

Fantastic experience: Right, where do i start? How about at the beginning! When it comes to booking, Michelle in the office is an absolute saint. She really thoroughly walks through all the steps required to achieve whatever it is your after. CBT, A2, full A etc. In my case, Michelle recommended that i pop down to see one of the instructors so we can figure out the most appropriate course for me. After that 15 minutes with an instructor, Michelle called me back to get everything booked in on the appopriate course based on my skill level. I actually decided to take an extra day's training just to make sure i was fully confident and ready for my test. I cannot recommend enough listening to their advice and paying the little extra if they think you need it... IT WILL SAVE YOU MONEY IN THE LONG RUN!!! On to the training, I did my CBT with Doug and Jacko... both brilliant instructors, made you feel comfortable all along the way and if you aren't quite ready, they will tell you what you need to do to get to the point where you're ready to get out on the road and finish your training. 2nd day training moving onto a 300... the MT03. Again, as before, Jacko made me feel extremely comfortable and confident riding getting used to something with a bit more power whilst always giving you excellent feedback in the helmet whilst on the road to help improve your riding with the long term goal of getting you through your test in the safest way possible. Throughout your training, every afternoon, you spend a bit of time going through the MOD 1 requirements such as manual handling, slow speed stuff and emergency stuff. They let you to move at your own pace so you never doing anything you're not comfortable with giving you that support to help get it right. 3rd and 4th day you get to ride the big boys, the MT07. Now I've never ridden a "big bike" as it were but let me tell you... this was the most fun i've ever had. It was such an amazing freeing feeling. Andy and Jacko worked with me on both these days and their approach to instruction is exemplary. No nonsense feedback so you know what you're doing wrong and what do about it but in a really constructive and confidence inspiring way. If you listen to what they say and take it on board, it WILL make you a better rider. Trust me. The training provided by Andy, Jacko, Dave, Jezz, Steph and I'm sure the other instructors i didn't get to work with is amazing. There is a reason these guys are rated the best. They care about you, they WANT you to pass, they WANT you to have a good time whilst doing the training and most importantly, they WANT you to do it safely. At the end of it all, in one week i have walked away with a full A license and getting myself my first bike at the weekend. The first people i will be going to see are the boys at 1stGear to show them the bike and no doubt they will all be super happy and proud. These guys care and if you want to get the best quality training go here. Just do it.

Fantastic experience: There’s no doubt 1st gear are the best in the area. But it wouldn’t surprise me if they were one of the best in the country. I can’t reccomend them highly enough. From start to finish they want you to pass. Incredible facilities, massive private training ground, very friendly and knowledgable instructors. They aren’t after your money over and over, they want to get you through the tests. Brilliant for confidence on their private training pads and road practice area. Give them a call, chat to Michelle who is marvellous and she’ll get you in and training at a time that suits you. Did CBT then Passed Mod 2 within a week. Never ridden before. Do it.

Fantastic experience: The experience with 1st gear from start to finish was excellent. Booking was really easy and Michelle was really great with different options and dates. Fantastic experience: I passed Mod 1 & 2 last week with 1st Gear and couldn’t have had a better experience with everyone there: Andy (Instructor) Didn’t have Andy directly as an instructor but as the boss of the training centre he couldn’t of been more helpful dealing with any issues I had and was great fun to boot. Michelle (Main point of contact) Michelle is very helpful, efficient and pleasant to deal with. She made all the arrangements and everything was flawless!! Dave (Instructor) I had Dave for my CBT and he is very experienced and patient, giving as much explanation and time as needed. Dave (Mechanic) Dave keeps all the bikes well maintained and can help with any maintenance or adjustments you might have your own bike. Jacko (Instructor) I had Jacko for pretty much all the training after the CBT and it was both effective and fun. He gave very comprehensive training and analysis for all aspects of riding and passing the tests. With a lot of gems of information from his many years of experience thrown in that helped enormously!! Stefan (Instructor) I only had Stefan for a short session but interacted with him a number of times and again he was very helpful and easy to deal with. All in all I couldn’t recommend 1st Gear more highly. A thoroughly enjoyable and effective experience all round so if you’re thinking of doing any motorbike training then this is the place to go!!

Fantastic experience: Getting my full bike licence has been on my list for more years I care to own up to. So for Christmas my partner gave me some vouchers from 1st Gear Motorcycle Training centre and what a pleasure it has been, from my taster session to CBT through to my DAS (Direct Access) Michelle in the office was nothing but flexible and accommodating, helping me book the right course, to booking me in on dates that work around my commitments, to the trainers Dave, Jock and Stefan all bring their own style of training, what they don't know about riding a bike isn't worth knowing. And as for Andy the owner what can I say, a true gent with a passion and desire to see his students achieve their dream of becoming a bike rider. Make sure you turn up switched on, ready to learn, listen and take on board what they are telling you, learning how to ride a bike safely and competently isn't easy, but with their help and passion for their job they will get you through it. 10000% recommend I wouldn't go anywhere else THANK YOU Claire

Fantastic experience: I did my first CBT here, and I have to say it was great! I had an extremely good first experience driving a motorcycle. My instructor was extremely helpful, as were all the other staff. They never rushed me or the other students to get anything done and waited patiently till we got it. I absolutely recommend you come here to do your CBT because they prepared me perfectly on how to drive a motorcycle.

Fantastic experience: 1st Gear is definitely the way forward if you are thinking about anything motorbike. I booked a full course with them including my theory test, CBT, Training, Mod 1 and Mod 2. They provided everything I needed to pass all of my tests first time. Fantastic experience: World class training and £500 off a new Honda. I did both my CBT and DAS with 1st gear. The instructors were fantastic! With their help and advice I was able to pass my DAS first time. Fantastic experience: I feel incredibly lucky to have chosen this school for my full A license preparation! My experience has been exceptional, all thanks to the team! Michelle was incredibly welcoming and helped me choose the right course based on my skills! She also handled booking my tests and provided reassurance throughout the process! The instructors, Dave, Stefan, and Jacko, were the best possible!Their professionalism, clear guidance, patience, and invaluable tips made my training for Module 1 & Module 2 an absolute pleasure! From start to finish, they were dedicated to my success, providing constructive feedback, building my confidence, and genuinely caring about my progress! They're really good at what they do, and you can tell they love it! I also want to highlight the school's location and facilities. Its proximity to the test center allowed me to familiarise myself with the area before the exams. Fantastic experience: By far the best choice for motorcycle training I could've made! Right from the off, Andy and Michelle were very welcoming, friendly and professional. From initially contacting 1st Gear MTC Michelle was great helping me book the right training course based on my previous riding experience, the whole process felt very tailored and personalised to my requirements. Due to an injury my training had to be postponed and 1st Gear were very understanding, accommodating and patient with me until I had recovered to a point I could undergo the training; Michelle maintained periodic contact to see how I was getting on, providing comprehensive information and advice throughout. Once my training began, I felt like I was in good hands with all the instructors. Dave, Jacko and Stefan were brilliant; each providing invaluable advice and feedback based on their extensive experience and knowledge of the craft. I especially felt that the balance of theory, on-road, and slow manoeuvre training was spot on! Their help, encouragement and instruction throughout the DAS training gave me the tools and confidence that saw me through mod 1 and 2 without any stress or nerves getting in the way. I really can't overstate just how positive the whole experience with Andy, Michelle and the team has been from start to finish. I fully intend to come back to 1st Gear for some advanced training later down the line and would absolutely recommend them to anybody thinking about going for their motorbike licence. Fantastic experience: There is a common theme in these 1st Gear reviews, and for a very good reason. Simply brilliant from start to end. Having messed up a previous Mod 2 test the experience with 1st gear was flawless. I ended up passing with no faults. Straight after the test, the examiner asked me how I thought the test ride went, I just replied with "I enjoyed every minute of it", he said that was always a good sign and congrats you have passed! When arriving at the site, the team were so welcoming, my bike only had 700 miles on the clock and the onsite circuit was exactly what was needed i.e. your time to learn, focus and nail the non-negotiable basics before setting out. Being so close to the test centre is a massive plus and means that every minute on the local roads builds familiarity and of course confidence for the test. Big thanks to Michelle for the lovely online comms, efficiency and assurance. I was lucky to experience two instructors over 2 days, Dave and Jacko. High praise to their professionalism, understanding and super crystal clear direction. Such nice people who care about what they do and why they do it. Lastly, you really do get the feeling that Dave and Jacko genuinely have an interest in you as an individual and they give such great feedback on where you are at on arrival, how you are progressing and where you can always improve. Loved learning like this and listening to their experienced and at times highly amusing story combo’s on the rides, good work team! In summary a highly recommended experience, and a sincere thank you.

Fantastic experience: A long overdue review. Been with 1st Gear since the age of 16 Passed MOD1 & MOD2 and now got a full A licence. Thanks to the Jacko and the team for helping me through my test I wouldn't of got it with there help.

Fantastic experience: Just passed with 1st Gear and I’m struggling to find any negatives. Stefan, Dave, Jacko and Michelle are all truly a credit to the art of teaching safe riding and getting you through your test. Dave’s CBT was a Masters Degree compared to the one I did 18 years ago (that’s a good thing; if you’re new to the road trust me, it’ll kill you if you don’t know what you’re doing) Stefan was patient throughout and an amazing instructor for all of my 4 lesson (don’t skimp and think you can do I on less, just do as many as you need; it’ll make the tests much easier) Jacko was always fun to be around at breaks and when taking me to my Tests. All round good dude. Michelle even saved me when I got lost on a road lesson and quickly arranged for me to be put back in the pack. Seriously, don’t skimp on learning to ride a bike. It’s fun, but it’s dangerous. Learn to do it as safely as you can and these guys will do just that. Zero hesitation recommending any family or friends to these guys

Fantastic experience: What can I say from start to finish to Michelle in the office to Andy, Jacko Dave Jezz and all other instructors they’re the best in the buisness they really are I couldn’t recommend them enough! I don’t the expert course for 4 days and passed both my mod 1 and mod 2 They make the course fun and exciting which helps you learn what you need too , if you’re looking to pass first time with no hassle or grief as you find in other training schools these are the guys you go too! Fantastic experience: 1st Gear Motorcycle Training excellent service past my mod 1&2 first attempt without any previous experience, great team of instructors. However, avoid Dave Mills motorcycle repairs Dave Mills was recommended to me by 1st Gear instructors, after i decided to let him work on my motorcycle, the service wasn't anything near good I'm pretty sure with my knowledge working on cars I could have done a better job. Work he carried out as follows; (1) A new carb I supplied was fitted, he just fit it and didn't even take the bike out to make sure it is working properly, when I got the bike back I took it out it is now bugging down on high revs contacted Dave to let him know he wanted me to adjust the jets myself when i already paid him for a service. (2) A new rear brake master cylinder I supplied was fitted, rear brake light switch he supplied was fitted, he fit a different switch and not the same one that came on the bike without consulting me first. I found one online for £5 he charged me £15 for his one which is intermittent, looks usual and awful because it is in the wrong place. ( 3) Full service. I was charged for a full service of £90 when I asked he said he only changed the oil and oil filter, the air filter and spark plug he didn't change because they were still new, I also checked to confirm never replaced as he said. The oil appears to be the same colour before it went for service. Bolts missing, 1x m6 12mm flair bolt was missing which I pointed out and he replaced with m5 bolt didn't even hold anything just rest in. 1x air box bolt and a screw completely missing. My motorcycle went rust free and came back with signs of rust everywhere. when I asked he said when it went for MOT they left it outside over night I spoke to the MOT centre they said all bikes are kept indoors over night. I've contacted him several times asking for £100 refund from the total he received to take my bike elsewhere for a proper service but to no Avail. I paid to get my bike back in working condition now it is sat in my garage and I can't even use it what a service. I should have just worked on my bike myself like I do with my cars. Lesson learned not because someone is recommended as good meaning they are, there good might not be yours everyone accepts different standard of work.

Fantastic experience: Came to 1st Gear for my A licence. From start to finish the staff couldn't be more helpful. Michelle in the office walked and talked me through everything with all the documents sent to get me started. Jez was teaching me and guiding me through the MT-03 and MT-07. Really down to earth and instruction was spot on. Met 2 other Instructors Jacko and Dave who were more than happy to lend an ear with any questions too. All round a great company to learn with. Passed Mock 1 on first attempt. Passed Mock 2 on Second attempt with 2 minors. Failed the first attempt of the Mock 2 due to my error of missing a procedural sign coming to a roundabout on Kennal lane, so was down to my mistake and not the instruction of the staff.

Fantastic experience: I have done my CBT and DAS course with 1st Gear and I am genuinely over the moon with the high standard of training that was provided. Jacko and Stefan are both fantastic instructors, I booked a 3 day course with no prior riding experience and they were very good to teach and develop the safe riding skills necessary to help me pass both my Module 1 and 2 test. Fantastic experience: Decided to do my das training with 1st gear. From the enquiry to mod 2 nothing but proffesionalism. Instructors very well trained will have a laugh but know when to be serious with the matter in hand. My instructor jacko was very informative and knowlegable. Listen to the instructors directions and tips. This way you shouldnt go far wrong. Would highly recomend. Thank you all at 1st gear .

Fantastic experience: Jacko, Stefan & Jez were amazing! I did my full CBT - MOD1 - MOD2 - Full A2 license and passed my Mod 2 today. I do not doubt that my passing was 100% down to their skill, experience and guidance. I just want to thank them for everything they did and if you want to learn to ride a bike, go here. No question! :)

Fantastic experience: Been riding with all instructors at 1st Gear, they taught me how to lean, the lane discipline on roundabouts, and helped me gain confidence to pass mod1 and mod2 very quickly, amazing team, very nice people that are really passionate, this you can tell. Fantastic experience: Did my A2 with these guys back in 2020 and more recently my unrestricted access. The team are brilliant, they definitely know what they're doing (passed my A2 with 1 minor and full licence clean sheet which has got to come down to training). Could not have asked for a better experience from booking on to training to doing the tests. My test got cancelled due to bad weather and they had me booked in at the next available opportunity which brought the initial wait time of a few weeks for a new test to a few days. Thank you all. All the instructors are incredibly good at understanding how you learn and providing all the help you need to be comfortable and safe on the bike as well as confident for your tests. Fantastic experience: 1st Gear is 1st class! I had a terrific time with the team at 1st Gear during my 5-day training to obtain my CBT and full category A license. I have experience on motorbikes from my time living in India, but this was the first time going through a more vigorous and intensive course to build up my motorcycle skills at the training centre. From my CBT training with Stef, through to the Module 1 and Module 2 training with the 1st Gear instructors, the team maintained their professionalism, dedication and most importantly humour throughout. They make sure to build a relaxed yet serious atmosphere, helping to build confidence in riders while focusing on the safety of all road users. Additional mention to Michelle, who was incredibly helpful throughout my training, with regular updates and timely information for my tests, as well as the two instructors who brought me to the test centre for my Mod 1 and Mod 2 who made sure I went in feeling confident - so much so that I ended up enjoying the Module 2 test ride! Highly recommended for anyone with experience, or learning for the first time.

Fantastic experience: An amazing riding school. Their instructor Jacko really focused on all of my weak points, such as how I was wobbly and not very confident in twisty roads and really taught me what I needed to learn. He made it look easy, then showed me that it actually is. Could not have asked for a better school to learn with. Best of all, I passed my MOD2 today. I could not have done it without Jacko.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely first class training centre! I arrived as a complete novice who'd never ridden a bike and left after 6 training days with my full A licence. And, most importantly, I feel completely confident out on the road. Michelle, in the office, is amazing - organised, super helpful and welcoming. All of the instructors are knowledgeable and friendly - there's a lovely, inclusive atmosphere at the centre. I thoroughly enjoyed my course. My main instructor was Stefan who pitched everything at just the right level for me and was generally awesome. Book your course with them. You won't regret it.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend 1st gear motorcycle training for anyone who is intreeted in getting a cbt or full licences. From phone conversatuons to meeting and getting trained, the staff are awsome, highly motivated and you can tell really do care about improving you and teaching you, everyone there is intrested in getting you to the highest level possible. Equipment is great and mod 1 and mod 2 training is perfect. Thanks to the guys i think training was more then sufficent to get used to the big bike and passed 1st time for my A licence. Even if someone fails i think it would be down to the individuals mistakes the guys give their 100% for sure i was convinced before my tests that this school is perfect so im not being biased because i passed and not failed. Excelled communication from 1st time on the phone and all the communication receipts and booking info to me was clear and informative on what to expect. I even got a congratulations text Amazing guys keeps it up!!!!

Fantastic experience: I had recived training from couple of training centers for CBT and module 1&2...... I must say, 1st Gear is an excellent centre. The bikes are well maintained and clean and moreover all the instructors are welcoming and helpful. Especially!!! Instructor David is brilliant. Highly recommend the centre for motorbike training.

Fantastic experience: I did my CBT and my A2 training here and both times had an excellent experience. A great team of instructors who are friendly and experienced riders. Really helped correct my bad habits from riding on my own on a CBT in just the couple of days I booked with no problem. Fantastic experience: What an absolute brilliant place. 1st Gear was my first introduction into the motorbike world. All the instructors are welcoming, brilliant, patient and can explain a situation differently, so you as the student can understand things easier. I did my CBT about a month ago with 1st Gear, and then did the Direct Access Course for my full Cat A which I passed today. I feel fortunate to have found them, as like I have said, everyone is wonderful. Also the lovely lady who helps book your courses, is very welcoming and so very helpful with questions and helping you as the student to get on courses and tests. Will 100% recommend to my friends in the local area, and even friends further away if they are willing to travel. Top notch.

Fantastic experience: Really great team to learn to ride with. I learnt from Jacko and Stephan who were really helpful and made the process from 125cc - full bike license easy. Fantastic experience: Can't recommend 1st gear rushmore arena enough, from Michelle in the office to the guys teaching. I was struggling a bit but with their help I passed my mod 1 and mod 2 first time. The bikes they lend you are also great bikes. Can't wait to be riding my new bike.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend 1st gear for all levels of motorbike training Michelle’s communications from the office were fantastic. Joining instructions and associated files were really handy. Fantastic experience: Well Where do I start ... First Gear have been absolutely amazing !! to say the very least . From my initial phone call and Booking office with Michelle right up until I passed my Mod 2 and successful completion of my DAS in September 2022 I couldn't have asked for a more smooth , supportive and enjoyable experience where I could ask many and multiple questions and be given professional , direct and honest answers , tips and advice . Even if it was about the same roundabout !! Or my small hands . I started my bike journey in December 2021 and commenced my CBT with Dave at first gear ( couldn't get to grips with gears so I settled for the 125cc ped) which was the first step to my journey to being on the road and for someone that has had no experience on the road I was apprehensive but was given all I was needed to take this step with confidence . I had such a good experience with my CBT and customer service that I decided to book and undergo an advanced bike course for my DAS ( I had learnt the gears by this point on an MT125) - however I know they offer a gear conversion system to support . Wanting to upgrade to an MT09 in time it was fab to know that my training would be on an MT07 !!! They bikes and condition were fantastic , more than enough and time was spent ensuring confidence with a bigger machine . I would mention all of the team to the above and service provided but I would love to put notion to Dave , Andy , Wilfred and Jacko Especially ! What a lovely group of trainers to who collectively have such a wide amount of experiences and lessons learnt that it positively aided my training and both my Mod 1 and mod 2 . Tips and hints for progressive riding will stay with me on my journey . The homely and welcoming Facilities at first gear are second to none . The group dynamic is so positive and they honestly make you feel like you are part of 1st gear and all that goes with it - banter and jokes included . If I could recommend these guys to all and anyone that is looking to start , refresh or complete their DAS I would suggest not to go anywhere else ! Without focusing on money - it was good money well spent ! No questions asked ! Good value and they will be honest with progress and if you are ready for the next steps without applying an immense amount of pressure . Fantastic experience: Did my A2 with them years ago and came back from this week to do my full A license as I tried another training centre in London that wasn't up to scratch. Glad I did - training is done on top of the range bikes, you are constantly given feedback and help, and the instructors all know what they're talking about. Just don't let Jacko bore you with too many fire brigade stories

Fantastic experience: READ THIS REVIEW!! I can not recommended this place high enough even 5 stars isn't enough for this place. When I go some where I highly judge everything from the service provided to the attitude of the the staff. This place is top level. I was there for 2 days training and a test I had 4 instructors all amazing and great at giving information in the correct way to learn. You felt part of the team in away they was so welcoming. I did my CBT and mod 1 with another training school and they made me realise how much the other school missed out on teaching me. They are so knowledgeable on all aspects motorcycle. Before being recommend here I tried to contact loads of other schools who rather didn't pick up the phone or said they would get back to me and never did or did a month later. This school followed through on everything they said and was extremely helpful. Personal I think you would be foolish to go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: Excellent training. Great facilities and bikes. Instructors are top notch both in terms of teaching bike handling and agility skills and out on the open road. Information packs, communication and customer care are also excellent. I am really glad I trained with 1st Gear and delighted to have passed my full A licence tests in one shot.

Fantastic experience: 1st Gear Training provided absolutely first class DAS training. Michelle was my first point of contact with my initial enquiry and was extremely responsive and answered all my questions thoroughly. Booking couldn't be easier and you are provided a training schedule specific to your needs with detailed timing by day. The Module 1 and 2 bookings are made on your behalf you just need to turn up with your own helmet, gloves and boots. The instructors are highly experienced and impart so much knowledge along the way. I spent most of time with Jacko who is a down to earth, no nonsense kind a guy and has some amazing life stories that make the training an equal balance of learning and fun. Listen to what he tells you and you wont go wrong. He is so experienced and a real character that will work with you on any problem areas to make sure you get through the test. I also got some great coaching from Andy who helped me specifically with some tips and tricks to help me with my U turns for Mod 1 - took it all in and passed no problem. The site set up is also excellent with a permanent setup for Mod 1 testing as well as an off road practice area for left and right turns and also a roundabout. The bikes are only a couple of years old (MT07s) and very well maintained by their on-site mechanic. I started my DAS training for Mod 1 on the 15th Jun 22 and got my full licence by 22nd Jun. If you are looking for CBT, A1, A2 or full A licence I dont think you will find a better school - highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic team at 1st Gear! So glad I went with them. Passed my MOD1 and MOD2 first time round with no prior experience on large bikes and being unfamiliar with the area. I've not stopped recommending others to go with 1st Gear including my housemate who also just recently passed and gained his full licence with them too. Michelle was great from start to finish - so friendly and helpful over the phone. Dave was my main instructor and has such an encouraging and supportive way about him, taking me out on routes similar to the final test and tailoring the learning to suit my weak areas. Stefan soldiered through an afternoon of heavy rain to ensure we got the MOD 1 skills up to standard, and always had a great sense of humour. Then there's Jacko who wasn't instructing on the days I was there, but still helped me to initially get used to the power of the 700cc bike (my housemate - a New Yorker originally - said Jacko was great, especially with his jokes about 'yanks' and their lack of experience with British roundabouts!! ). Fantastic experience: Can't say how much I'd like to learn motorcycling with 1st Gear! I've done my 2 CBTs and full licence with them and each time I gained a lot of skills and pleasant to learn with each instructor. They are not only training students for bike handling skills but also putting heart to transfer safety concept to new riders for them to be safe on their every ride out. Fantastic experience: Extremely happy with these guys. The instructors are patient, knowledgeable and very friendly. They helped me come on leaps and bounds with my riding. Been riding a year and felt confident but now feel I'm even more confident and more knowledgeable of riding. Michelle who does all the admin side of things was fantastic. Very friendly and very helpful and a pleasure to speak to. Every single step be it riding or admin was a pleasant experience. It was affordable and the cheapest i could find and the training is second to none and i do not regret going with 1st gear just wish i went with them from the start. The training facility is good. Fantastic experience: Booked my mod 1&2 with these guys and couldn't recommend them enough. Jacko was fantastic, a very experienced rider and a great instructor. Quickly ironed out any mistakes I was making and gave me great advice for the test, which I passed first time. Loved his stories and anecdotes as well! The other instructors were also great and very helpful in training me on the mod 1 manoeuvres. Everyone at 1st Gear is really friendly and you feel like part of a crew when you're there. Thanks Michelle as well from the office who easily organised my training and tests to work around my limited time off!

Fantastic experience: I booked the entire training plan from CBT to Module 2. Instructors were really friendly and capable. Bikes were well maintained, easy and fun to ride. Facilities for the off-road module 1 were great as they are an exact replica so allows you to get good experience prior to the test. The office was also great with helping book and rearrange tests etc. all in all a great experience with good staff members and passed first time. Thanks to all at first gear!

Fantastic experience: Amazing, fantastic from booking in to passing my test (1st time), super helpful, fantastic tuition, having no experience on a Bike, an amazing introduction and guided education. Michell, Andy and Jez really made the week and also Jacko and Steph were on hand to help. Can’t recommend them enough. The only thing I would change if I could would be for there to be a bigger framed 125cc available for bigger guys like myself at 6’5” but that is only being super picky. The MT07’s were fine and good to ride and the manoeuvre practice are was laid out exactly like the test centre which was a huge help for one’s confidence.
