Fantastic experience: A few weeks ago, I sent an email to Kevin, requesting his assistance in motivating my husband to schedule and complete his Mod 2 test due to a loss of confidence. I intended to surprise him by making all the necessary arrangements. Kevin promptly responded and booked him for an enhanced riding day followed by the Mod 2 test. Yesterday, my husband returned home from the riding day with renewed enthusiasm and confidence. He felt optimistic about his test today. Fantastic experience: Hi ! I'm 58 with only a few hours experience on my 125 around the yard at work before Kev got me through my CBT back in mid-September. I was really struggling with a lot of the slow speed off-road stuff in the morning but his patience, firm but fair coaching and great sense of humour paid off and I felt much more relaxed by the time we got out on the road in the afternoon with just a couple of minor 'indiscretions' along the way. Fantastic experience: I been using rider training northwest southport for 10 years from the age of 16 for doing and redoing my cbt with kev to finally passing my full bike license. Fantastic experience: Hey my name is Ryan, I have recently trainee for my A2 with Kev, and what a journey, from the moment I got there I was treated not as a student but as a mate, Kev and the other guy training with me 'Big Dog' definitely made me feel like I belonged. Kev is a good guy, he's strict but he balances that out well with humour. I was very nervous for my mod 1 test, but Kev reassured me, and lo and behold, I passed on my first try. The mod 2 is where I actually struggled in some areas however those were creases that were ironed out in quick succession. I was a LOT more confident coming to my mod 2 test, and as before, I got there on the day was a bit less nervous, and I passed it first try. Would 100% recommend, if you're going to train, get on Rider Training, don't go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: At 63 I decided to get my full motorbike licence. I began my journey with a different riding school, passed my CBT and commenced Mod 1, it was at this point I started to feel a little uneasy with them. I had different instructors each giving me different advice on what I should and shouldn't do. Most of the time I was training on small car parks and disused roads, not ideal. Needless to say I failed my Mod 1 several times (I accept that I failed it). It turns out that they actually did me a favour because I decided to find an alternative school and came across Rider Training North West and Kevin. From the outset things were totally different. He listened to my experience elsewhere and was not judgemental in any way i.e. not trying to point score. He then took me on to his Mod 1 training area which is almost a full scale mock up of the actual test site, which makes a huge difference, believe me. In no time at all he identified my weaknesses and showed me how to overcome them, the result being I passed my Mod 1 first time through him. Yesterday I passed my Mod 2, again first time with Kevin. Kevin holds the IAM Master Rider qualification at Distinction level, so is clearly passionate about riding, and knows his stuff. This is why he will teach you how to ride safely, competently and confidently and will not put you through to your tests until you can. Every step of the way he explains not only how to do tasks but why you are doing them.(and I don't mean just to pass your test) As for the actual learning experience, Kevin is patient and understanding. It is also fair to say that he has a way with words that Peter Kay would be proud of! I don't think I have laughed so much in a learning situation. My biggest compliment, if my grandchildren wanted to learn to ride a motorbike I would not let them use any other instructor than Kevin.

Fantastic experience: Ok, so where do we start? I have wanted to get a full bike licence for some time. I came across Kev and the Rider Training North West by chance. I am so glad I did. At the onset Kev took the time to understand what I wanted and getting what experience I had on a motorcycle. If I relate to where I did my CBT it is worlds apart. My first experience was riding a worn out bike and getting basic input from someone who I would question their qualifications. With Rider Training North West the bikes are well maintained. Kev is good at getting the best out of you but most all in an enjoyable way. I have really enjoyed my time doing my Mod1. This is a rider training school with such a difference. In conclusion Kev is passionate about what he does and getting you there equipped with the right knowledge and skills. I am really pleased with what I have learnt and would whole heartedly recommend this rider school if you are wanting to get on two wheels. A knowledgable and highly experienced tutor. Update. well finally passed my MOD2 and now out loose on my proper bike. I cannot stress enough to anyone how Kev has a passion for what he does and getting the best out of you to get you there. Absolutely worth it if you are serious about standards and passing. A credit to himself and his level of professionalism. A well deserved thanks.

Fantastic experience: Just passed my MOD 2 (1st time), 7 days later upgraded from a 125 to a spanking new Kawasaki 650 Versys. Boom! Thanks "Poppa Kevin" for running me through the mill. Forever grateful and cannot believe its all over. Kevs approach was absolutely second to none. If your serious about doing the do then do the do with Kev. Word! ha ha.

Fantastic experience: Best experience ever. I highly recommend Kevin as a trainer because he's knowledge and attitude is priceless. He's always going an extra mile to sort out all your needs. With the training he provided I passed 1st time. All training motorcycles and other equipment is in excellent condition. Simply the best place to get your motorcycle license done

Negative experience: The worst riding school: They brought a faulty motorcycle at the test center that leaked oil, forcing the cancellation of everyone else. I had to retake the exam we couldn't complete, for which I have to pay again. They refused to expense my exam cost.

Negative experience: Worst ridding school. Someone brought a faulty motorcycle that leaked oil and they had to cancel everyone else . They ask me for the 165£ again to retake an exam we couldn't take. When I called to ask for refund/reachedule they've hung up.

Fantastic experience: I would just like to say a huge belated thank you to Kevin who took me from novice to MOD 1 & 2 passes. He was always generous with his time and remained patient and considerate, even when at times he must have been scratching his head and wondering what he'd taken on. We worked tirelessly on the basics and I never felt pressured to move on to the next stage until both he and I felt ready and able. His explanation and teaching style are delivered with a direct and easy to understand approach and safety is of paramount importance. I very much enjoyed my trips to Southport and will miss the banter and sharing of knowledge. I hope to continue with some more lessons without the L plates and continue to further enhance my riding capabilities and knowledge. Thank you Kevin!!

Fantastic experience: I have today ended my relationship with Kev and North West Rider training.... Because he SUCCESSFULLY trained me through my CBT, MOD 1 and MOD 2. Kev put me at ease the whole way through the process and made me feel as though I was capable even when making simple mistakes. He takes you through with a dry wit and never once talked down to me. He is clearly incredibly experienced and has safety as first thought. I did have to take my MOD 2 twice but my failings in the first where of my own 'over' confidence and after explanation from the examiner and Kev knew exactly what to work on. MOD 2 again with no rider faults and a smooth ride. Kev is thoughtful and engaging and will not move you on until you are happy for the next stage which is great. No pressure whatsoever. Recommended.

Fantastic experience: Where do I start, passed my mod 1 last week and my mod 2 today honestly the training kev gives you is faultless I couldn’t be any happier. I got referred to him by a family member who also passed first time and every person that has been on there test with me on the mod 1 and 2 have passed that’s down to the training and the technique he shows and tells you I couldn’t preach how much this man is honest aswel he even said I didn’t need the hours I’d paid for so told me to take it off the next payment oh ye that’s another thing you pay in instalments if you wanna ride an pass without paying stupid money then give them genuine fella a call Again thanks kev

Fantastic experience: Where do I start with Mr. Kevin, this guy is an absolute gentleman. For anyone monitoring the reviews and being a little weary of an instructor like I was, then please read on. I started by calling Kev asking for any availability as I’d failed my MOD1 with another school, but he was a busy gentleman. Rather than shooing me off the call or asking for any money, he took the time to discuss my MOD1 and advise where I possibly went wrong and how I could make it up next time on my riding technique. Whilst my other school had no major issues, I found they didn’t explain the reasons or proper procedure to actions as it was a ‘just do it’ approach. Kevin managed to squeeze me into his tight schedule & when commencing lessons , every time he issued any instruction or advised of the lesson he explained the ins, outs and whys. He was happy to go over any info with any questions I had before, during and after. He offered reassurance and confidence throughout the lessons and had 1 - 2 mini breaks to assess the positives and/or negatives of the trainees lesson so far. For anyone also worried about the intercom / radio, Kevs are clear and concise with the volume being self adjustable (indentical to the test centres radio & earpiece) and all actions were repeated in good time. I personally completed it on an A2 licence and will be returning on my DAS if possible and can say there’s a healthy selection of bikes dependant on the licence. With modifications to the bike so that you’re always safe and comfortable. Overall MOD1 passed with no minors, MOD2 passed with no minors both first time with Kevin. He’s honest and straight to the point - with a little witty sarcasm in the middle ;) Kevin is a good man and a good instructor with good patience, smooth communication, clear expectations with straight up honesty. I’d recommend this gentleman to anyone looking to ride regardless of the season.

Fantastic experience: In 20mins Kevin turned my downward learning spiral onto a directed, determined path towards first attempt passes for both Mods 1 & 2. Today I got to uncover my CBF500, kick her tyres and ride her until the road cried!!! Loved every minute of that hard earned freedom. If you can leave your ego at home, listen and learn then Kevin will lead you to the water. However, drinking it is on you!

Fantastic experience: Where do I start? I hadn't ridden a motorbike for over 35 years. I bought a new motorbike, and THEN I decided that I must get a licence to ride it!! Kevin, my instructor, got me through my CBT and, thankfully, MOD2. He is a very patient guy (and he needed to be with me). He was also very encouraging and helped me a great deal with my confidence, resulting in my obtaining my A class licence. I can't thank him enough. You'll be in safe hands!

Fantastic experience: After wanting my bike licence for a good few years and after the big delay we have all faced over the past couple of years the time was right for me. I chose Kevin as he appeared to be the best for the more intensive style training (2 weeks in my case) even though i was travelling from Liverpool. I completed my theory before starting my training just to get it out of the way and allow the riding full attention. Kevin and i arranged dates within the two weeks i had available planning everything from my CBT to my MOD 2. I didn’t have to book a test everything was taken care of by Kev, alls i needed to do was turn up. I could not of asked for a better experience, from start to finish Kev taught me the correct way and without any ego or assumptions, total professional. Banter was always there to help grease the whole experience but never in place of proper training. I am unable to express how much i would recommend Kevin as an instructor but if you are thinking about your licence this is the man to help you! I would consider Kev a friend and i think everyone i’ve met throughout the process also would. Thank you Kevin for all your time and help. Ill be up as soon as i can with my new bike!!

Fantastic experience: The Best About. I had previously done my A2 licence training at a place local to myself in Chorley. However the process seamed to be dragged out and there was no clear direction from the multiple trainers I had. I chose to do my Full bike licence With Kev at Ride Training North West. This was the complete opposite to my previous training experience. He gives clear 1 to 1 advice and was straight in to the training with no messing about. Even though I had been riding a restricted bike for almost 4 years I was still learning and improving my riding with Kev.

Fantastic experience: Well what can i say about kev…………This guy is an absolute saint, honestly tho. If your feeling down as you think your a failure, well don’t. Kev gave me a one day lesson in southport as I travelled from liverpool and he got recommended by a friend of a friend. The training and confidence he gave me on that one day rose above the 9+ hours i took in yorkshire. I can’t praise this guy enough for the guidance and training he gave me. Listen……….it felt like I’ve known him for years. Professionalism is an understatement, he probably doesn’t get the respect he deserves. Thanks for rob the examiner too, made me feel at ease and comfortable. I thank kev for his personality, warm welcoming and making me feel at ease. I even hugged him when i got back test center, as it meant alot. What a true professional, i rode into the sunset this evening and bloody enjoyed every last minute. Fantastic experience: After training with another school and not feeling ready to take my test, I found Kev's school and after my first lesson with Kev, was more confident and capable than I'd been before. Kev is fantastic, the training he provides allowed me to pass my mod1 and mod2 first time, but more importantly, I feel informed and safe to ride my bike on the road. I would recommend Kev and Rider Training North West to anybody looking to do CBT, Mod 1 or Mod 2. I'll be returning next year to do my A licence upgrade. Fantastic experience: I honestly couldn't recommend anyone other than kev for all aspects of motorcycle training! I have previously done 2 CBT's with other schools, and 2 with kev. I learnt more from 20 minutes talking to kev even before getting on a bike than I did with the other schools! I returned to kev to do my full bike licence. He tailored my test, and training to fit around work, and there was nothing he wouldn't do to make me feel comfortable passing my test. Full license passed, and I actually feel safe on the road instead of just being "test ready". All in all an amazing experience training with him, and I'm even retuning to do a couple of hours motorway riding!

Fantastic experience: Really great instructor! I chose to come from Manchester to Southport for my Mod1 and Mod2 with Kevin, and I am so happy I did. Having had a few lessons in Scotland previously and thinking that training school was good, Kevin proved to have a lot lot more to give. Good tips both on mod1 and mod2 that I had heard no mention of at the other school and all of it made things a lot easier for me. He very clearly knows his stuff and knows how to be a good teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed every lesson and, although I was very nervous, Kevin kept me calm and focused and helped my confidence to get the job done. I recommend coming to Kevin for anyone, even if you’re coming from further away.

Fantastic experience: I have recently pass my MOD2 Test and I’m now out and about on my own bike. All this was possible with Kevin’s training. He is a fantastic instructor and a good laugh. Fantastic experience: What to say about kev. Fantastic, supportive , fountain of knowledge, entertaining, knowledgeable ect ect. Basically he's a one man band that is an absolute god when it comes to training I moved to northwest rider training after a bad experience with another school I shall leave unnamed. He took my current experience and moulded my training to suit it. Fast efficient and accurate with all aspects. He's a busy man with a high success rate. If he had a 10 man team he would be the biggest training school in the country but he believes that he should keep training personal and it shows. Thank you kev , and his hidden wife who im sure is a key part of this school !

Fantastic experience: The best riding school I have been to and I’ve been to a few. I did my DAS with Kev and he taught me not only to pass my test but also to be a safe rider afterwards. Great bikes, great lessons, great instructor.

Fantastic experience: Superior riding school. I done my entire DAS with Kev and passed everything first time. Kev doesn't just teach you enough to get you through your test, he teaches you how to be a competent, confident and safe rider. Very patient, very good at communicating information on and off the road, he gives very clear explanations of things and is incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to biking. Would recommend to every type of rider, complete novice or expert rider there is always something to learn. Will be coming back for a refresher lesson when I get my bike

Fantastic experience: This was probably the best learning experience I've ever had. Really great. Kevin is a really great laugh but also thorough. Came away with not just the CBT certificate but also a much greater understanding of motorbikes/ riding. It's a real art how he makes the whole experience fun, interesting, a real good laugh whilst also getting all the information across, completing every aspect of the test and making you a better, more confident, more skilled and better equipped rider. Fantastic experience: Approx 1 year ago I decided that I wanted to get back on 2 wheels (after a break of 35 years!) and came across Kev at Rider Training North West. From the first phone call I knew this was going to be an enjoyable experience. Kev’s easy manner, his knowledge of training techniques and all his three letter acronyms - OUT - over, under and through, looking ahead for possible hazards, is just one of many that helped me feel confident and comfortable back on our busy roads. Following the theory test and mod 1 came my mod 2 which I was fortunate to do on a lovely sunny morning and again Kev’s local knowledge proved invaluable as my previous training rides over parts of the test routes meant I was really well prepared. The riding test itself was relaxed and straightforward and I passed with just 2 minors. Thanks Kev for your patience and professionalism and for giving me the confidence to enjoy 2 wheels again. Fantastic experience: Kev at Rider Training is a patient instructor and will cater to everybody's needs. He will point out everybody's flaws in their riding and get them polished out for you with no problems. Fantastic experience: I’ve wanted to do my bike test for long time, finally got round to do it. I can highly recommend Kev for top quality training from start to finish. I work shifts and he was very accommodating to fit my lessons in around work . Fantastic experience: Anyone looking for a top notch instructor contact Kev at Rider Training North West. I had dealings with a few instructors and Kev is head and shoulders above the rest. I travelled for 45 mins to get lessons from Kev and it was 100% worth it. The difference between Kev and the other Schools is night and day. Kev is a great instructor who treats everyone as an individual, not just a bog standard LEARN THIS WAY! if you are nervous, a newbie, returning rider or confident he will adapt his style to suit what you need. The bikes are well maintained, the radios and hi-vis' are kept clean and he even has heated grips on the bikes!. There is also a little Church Cafe next door which are very welcoming for the learner riders. Hand on heart, don't bother going anywhere else. Get yourself down to Kev.

Fantastic experience: I decided to take on my Direct Access Training after years off the bike, I gained my full license this morning and I couldn't be happier! Kev is an incredibly patient instructor and knows exactly how to tailor lessons to the individual, thankfully this also included the bikes as I'm on the shorter side. Great instruction, I'd recommend to anyone with any level of previous experience.

Fantastic experience: Firstly ... amazing, thanks to Kevin the instructor. I went through direct access to A licence and had 2 full days and passed with zero rider faults. Kevin's training is brilliant, he doesn't just show you how to pass a test but how to ride safely in all areas. I did my CBT in Preston and the difference between Kevin and Preston is far better, instruction is clear and super friendly for all! Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Did my training from CBT through to A licence with Kev and his training got me through all my tests first time. Can't recommend him enough, very patient and gave very through training so I felt well prepared for my MOD1 and MOD2 tests. He also has a lowered bike which was good when moving to the 650 from the 125 being a shortie!

My jacket and gloves hadn’t arrived in time and Kev lent me both, went above and beyond and told me to take them home until mine arrive so I can ride safely, which was really appreciated! Fantastic experience: Where do I start? We decided to buy our son a 125cc motorcycle as a surprise as he had been using his mountain bike to get to work which was several miles away. Of course buying the bike was the easy part!! When we announced to him that we had bought him the bike, it was with excitement and a hint of trepidation as he had never been on a motor bike before. After asking around for recommendations as to which CBT instructor to go with, Rider Training NW was on everybody’s list. When I called up to make a course date, I spoke to Kevin and he had so much time for me with my concerns regarding our son and his lack of experience, so much so that he dedicated us a full day to ourselves to calm a very nervous novice. He allowed me to sit in on the theory and safety talks prior to going on, what I would call, the skid pan where he went through various manoeuvres and made our lad very comfortable with his easy and calm instructions. Then came the big one; the first road ride, unbeknown to me, while I was having a very relaxing latte or two looking out over a beautiful lake; evidently the largest man made lake in England!, things weren’t going well with the practical road ride:( They came into the restaurant for a late lunch break where we all had a chat and it was decided that something had to be done to save the day. More talks and a confidence boost was needed, as I have mentioned earlier, a very nervous novice! Kevin’s team talk, if you would call it that, was so inspiring, made me want to go out on a bike to prove myself fit to ride. Out they went on the final ride of the day, for me, another latte!! They returned, first Kevin with an enigmatic smile mixed in with a warrior like Pose. A man that had achieved the ultimate prize; a passion Filled expression of success!! Then our lad with a tear of joy just visible in the corner of his eye, quiet, exhausted, relieved. Kevin went through the journeys, remembering every corner, every parked car, every pedestrian; what a guy!! I am so glad we picked Kevin as the time and effort he spent training; not just on how to ride a bike, but the mental awareness needed when on the road, the observations, the dangers! Our lad is now confident and alert to all he has been taught. We don’t realise but we put our most prized possessions in the hands of people like Kevin to protect them from danger. I feel blessed that we had Kevin as our guardian angel and wish him well in all he does:) Keep up the good work and I hope that people reading this understands the passion of this man and what he achieves. Kevin is a fantastic instructor and a true gentleman with a great sense of humor. He delivers informative, professional training which goes far beyond the requirements of the tests and really gives you the skills and confidence you need to ride safely on the road. Brilliant !

Fantastic experience: I read Rider training NW reviews and then I approached Kevin for advice regarding taking my direct access, I have only been riding my scooter for two years and started my training on the bigger bike after a ride out on the smaller 125cc to assess my riding abilities. Kevin makes you feel at ease and talks you through everything encouraging all the way, I only had around half a dozen training sessions then was put through for my MOD1 which I passed first time two weeks later I was put forward for my MOD 2 and also passed first time Kevin is a first class trainer and I fully recommend him, I will be doing an advanced training session with him in the new year. Very satisfied

Fantastic experience: Absolutely outstanding rider school. Kevin is a very good teacher and sound fella to chat to, understood exactly what I needed to do from the first time he explained. All aspects of getting your licence are tailored to you and your experience of riding, be it a lot or non at all. The prices are unbeatable for the amount of time he spends getting you comfortable and the fact that most sessions are just you, another rider and him means you have his focus unlike other schools. I have today just passed my MOD 2 with Kevin for my A2 Licence, having already done my MOD 1 and CBT with him. In previous years I have done 2 other CBTs and will always come back to Rider Training North West for other tests. 10/10 highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I went to multiple different riding schools across the country during my DAS training, Rider Training Northwest was by far the best. Kevin provided excellent instruction, was extremely informative and has excellent people skills that make his style of training feel more collaborative and enjoyable. All whilst holding and promoting rider safety as paramount. Put simply, he teaches you to be a good, safe rider rather than just pass the test, which, as I'm sure we can all agree, is of the highest importance. I will definitely use Rider Training Northwest for further training!

Fantastic experience: Kev is an absolute legend. After a bad CBT experience at a different school I lacked confidence and believed I'd never ride a motorbike. Kev is patient and an excellent instructor. He knows how to get the best out of you and recognised that allowing me to use my own bike was a huge confidence boost. I can honestly say I enjoyed every minute of the CBT. He even planned an amazing surprise for our lunch break on the road section of the training. I left feeling ready to go out on my own and cannot wait to go back in the new year for further training to gain my full licence.
