Fantastic experience: Service and MOT

Graham 10 months ago

Negative experience: Went in to buy some new winter gloves. I'm new to motorbikes so didn't know much. The woman onesite was rude and patronising. Criticising the brand that I did know and made my jacket, (Alpinestars) as "expensive and not good" despite the fact that that shop sells the brand in question. So if Alpinestars are so bad, why are you selling their stuff? By your own admission you're selling stuff that is overpriced and poor quality. Or you're lying to push the brands that you want to push. Either way, not a good look!

Negative experience: Friendly staff, but hopeless. I booked my bike in for repair and MOT last month. I was told they would ring which hen it was ready to collect. After 5 days I hadn't heard anything so rang up and was told it had passed. I came by to collect it 2 days later and was then told it had failed and they didn't know when they could get it booked in next or when the part would be in. I ended up taking it to a different bike shop who sorted everything out the next afternoon. Waste of time and money.

Positive experience: I didn't buy from them, but it's worth a review because after sending a bunch of different enquiries out on autotrader, they were one of only three that came back to me, and the only one that got in touch more or less straight away. In the end they offered me the lowest part exchange value and despite having the cheapest bike I enquired on, it meant their cost to change wasn't competitive. Sam was great, both on the phone and email however, so credit to him, if another bike I wanted popped up in the future I would happily give him a shout.

Fantastic experience: So,,,, having read the review of the battery warranty issue I have to add that having owned and run a motorcycle shop for 20 plus years I completely agree with Powerbiking’s decision not to replace or cover it under warranty, The question is why was the battery replaced in the first place??? Did the owner purchase the battery himself?? No, he bought the bike,,, probably cheap and hasn’t had the charging system checked, if he has he hasn’t mentioned it, New bikes from a dealership would have a battery warranty, Batteries supplied and fitted by a shop then weeks later going flat would certainly flag up a concern about the charging system, also is an alarm/ tracker fitted??? No mention of these?? 2 battery’s going flat And the battery wasn’t even purchased by the same person, Think the review is missing the wrong information supplied by the customer which is normally the case, Get your bike checked before you presume everything is the dealers fault,,

Negative experience: Having recently bought a bike i was looking forward to finding a garage to service, repair and mot my bike as and when i need to,my bike was bought in Marlow and 5 weeks before i bought it it had a new battery fitted by Powerbiking, well during the few weeks i had it the battery kept going flat,i had to charge it before i wanted to use it,i spoke to a gentleman there and he said to drop the battery in,they would charge and check it and asked me to call about 4.30(they close at 5)when i took it in about 10.30 i explained that they had fitted this battery 10 weeks ago,he was quick to say that there is no warranty on it,i explained i bought the bike with a warranty that would cover it,he said he'd never heard of my warranty company and didn't seem interested in pursuing it anyway.I rang about 4.25 to see if there was any news, lady told me he was busy and he'll call back,he called 2 minutes later and said the battery was faulty then said he could sell be a cheap one £20 or another better one £50,i said i wasn't buying one as this should be warranty,he said that my old battery was only good for being a paper weight!but i said i will come and collect it,it was now 4.30 and i need 30 mins to get there before they close so stepped on it and got there bang on 5 to be greeted by the lady saying out loud'what is it with everyone coming in so late'i asked if James was there she said he was busy,i said i was collecting my battery, she said 'oh you mean the paperweight'which i thought was taking the mick so that didn't impress me,i picked it up off there counter and said to her that i can't believe a 10 week old battery isn't under warranty, she said'take it up with the manufacturer'which i didn't think was a helpful or sympathetic thing to say,the attitude was a couldn't care less type and i certainly won't be going back there ever again and i'll certainly tell all my biker friends to avoid them.

Fantastic experience: The customer service in this place is outstanding. I sent my bike into fix and during that time the weather was bad and then I was admitted to hospital. I kept on phoning to update them but they kindly kept onto my bike until I was able to pick it up. The flexibility and understanding to my situation was such a help. There was no pressure and persistent ringing to collect my bike. Ben and Brian were the guys I was most in contact with who are both friendly and very helpful. I would recommend this shop to anyone..

Negative experience: Brought ot there for a MOT, failed, I had to search it up myself on dvla website to find out it failed and called them as they hadn’t bothered for the whole day, took 2 days for them to email a qoute, after i authorised replies i was told Friday/ Saturday, when that came i rang up and they said they were waiting for parts, i was then told next week, then received a email saying they had encountered a siezed bolt and need a extra hour to hour and a half which sounded fine, then after the next promised deadline i called up and they said the part was only ordered yesterday and will be done Friday, after Friday i called and was told Monday/ Tuesday, finally I looked up online seeing that it past and they had sent me a email to say it was completed, no call just a email. Went to collect, no apologies for the delay, nearly double the price i was qouted, bolts missing from fairing and damage to the paint and scratches on the fuel tank. Would recommend looking elsewhere

Fantastic experience: Powerbiking saves the day. Commuting into work when I get an unrepairable puncture to my rear wheel. Called the shop up, explained my situation and 10 minutes later the bikes in the back of one of their work vans and I'm on the way to the shop. New tyre fitted and I'm back on my way within the hour. Big thanks to all the team for getting me out of a pickle.

Negative experience: AVOID.....I bought a used motorcycle from PowerBiking LTD on Saturday the 8th of July 2023. I made an offer through AutoTrader and my offer was accepted. Great I called in to find out more info as well as sent few emails regarding condition of the motorcycle. Sebastian dealt with my queries. On Saturday I waited for the motorcycle to be ready around 1-2 hours, Finally motorcycle arrived in the showroom it looked nice and clean. My friend who gave me a lift on the day was going to start work at 6pm so I did not get a chance to take a look at the motorcycle properly I was in a rush, I made a payment of £8799 and then I tried to insure it so I can take it home. I was not able to insure it on the day due to my current provider. so I left the bike there and asked Sebastian if they could deliver it as I am not able to insure it. arranged delivery for Tuesday. On Tuesday 11th July 2023 the motorcycle arrived, it came with 4 keys.. I did see 4 keys in the folder on Saturday I thought they were spares... I was wrong 2 keys for the ignition and 2 keys for the fuel tank. This was not communicated in the advert or has been pointed out to me. I was given the key that was on the ignition when I was checking the bike out. During my phone call with Sebastian he was so convincing the bike is great and in mint condition. I did not expect this. The second problem, the bike came with Austin Racing exhaust that's what is say on it, it has the sticker. I was like great one less problem I have to deal with, and I will not be spending money on a new exhaust. I emailed Austin Exhaust asked for DB killer, they responded and said that it not a genuine Austin Racing Exhaust, I looked online it looks like a universal end can that ben be bought for £30-£40. So I spend £8799 on a bike that came with 2 different set of keys and a fake exhaust can. I have sent more than 10 emails and spoken to Brian the branch manager if we can sort something out as I should of been told the fuel tank had a different key. I was told that Sebastian is on Holiday, and will be back on Wednesday 19th July. I called on Wednesday I was told Sebastian is back but it’s his day off. Managed to get hold of Sebastian he told me that they did not know the bike had 2 different set of keys.. I am 100% sure this is a lie, because if I knew at that moment I wouldn't of paid nearly 9k. After going back and fourth I asked for a partial refund to cover the costs. I received around £160 which I was able to get a quick release fuel cap. I had to accept this as it was going to cost me £200 to take to bike back. This is my experience with powerbiking , if you can avoid avoid, private sellers are more honest then these guys.

Fantastic experience: First day of a week long bike tour got a rear tyre puncher in the middle of nowhere. The nearest town was High Wycombe. There were 3 motorcycles shops only one was open. Phoned Powerbiking they were full booked up with work but asked if I could get there or would I need recovery. I said I would be able to limp the bike there. They sorted me out and got me back on the road within a couple of hours. Excellent service, thank guys.

Negative experience: I stopped in at Powerbiking today to buy a part for my bike and as I approached the counter upstairs the lady behind it looked at me and just lazily raised her eyebrows slightly. No "hello" or "good afternoon". No big deal - not everyone is a candidate for a Personality of the Year Award. I said hello and told her the part I was looking for. She said I needed to speak to the person who sits next to her, who would be back soon. Five minutes later, an employee walked past the counter, said something to me (which I did not hear because I still had earplugs in from my ride over) and walked off. Five more minutes passed and I politely asked the lady at the desk if that had been the man I needed to speak to. "He told you that he would be back in a minute, didn't he?", she replied rudely. Not acceptable - I had gone there to buy a motorcycle part, not to receive attitude from a rude employee. Five more minutes passed, during which time another man came and sat down in the missing man's seat and started tapping on his computer. He asked the lady what I was waiting for. She told him but he just went on typing. Another five minutes passed and the missing man returned, only to start up a conversation with another customer, further ignoring me. By then 15 minutes had passed and my patience had expired, so I left. In an imaginary world in which a shop sold a unique product and it were the only shop in existence that sold the product, it would be understandable for the shop to believe that it could get away with being rude to customers and providing service which is noteworthy due to its extreme deficiency. A lot of motorcycle shops used to be like this, acting as if the customers were a nuisance to be put up with. However, in a world in which anyone can now order anything online, often at cheaper prices than buying locally, this attitude towards customers and their money makes no sense at all. Powerbiking lost the sale of the item to me today and it has lost all of my future business that they would have had from me. I also run a motorcycle-related business and I treat customers properly because I want them to come back and spend more money with me, and I want them to recommend their friends to me too. Doing otherwise just makes no sense at all, especially in this day and age!

Fantastic experience: These guys have been great in every respect thus far. Purchased my first bike from them and just awaiting delivery - advice and service superb from Sebastian. Negative experience: Do not use powerbiking. My son had numerous problems with his yamaha tricity and after taking it to powerbiking it could never be resolved. Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. They tell you they will call with updates but never do. Brian comes across as arrogant with a careless attitude. I was told my sons bike had been taken out twice on test runs but after checking the mileage it had not been moved. Avoid this company at all costs. William

Negative experience: Bought a bike and the service was quite franky terrible. Tried to enquire about a delivery date and was fobbed off for a week with no straight answers. Ended up having to pay extra to get the bike delivered in the time frame I was promised. The bike arrived and it was not serviced in over a year so I've had to fork out extra for a service the bike was filthy and hadn't been cleaned. I would not recommend anyone using this company if you want a bike go to a different dealer

Fantastic experience: Good range of new and used machines. Very welcoming and knowledgeable staff and also a very wide array of clothing and accessories. The garage side of things is impeccable so while it might cost a bit more than doing your service yourself….. it’s definitely worth it. On a personal note….. These guys will go above and beyond. Bought a used bike from them and when it started to develop a common issue and it became apparent it would not be possible to get parts they let me swap to a different bike of equivalent value, despite me being a month out of warranty. The entire time my bike was in the shop I had my choice of curtesy bikes that they would let me swap out at a moments notice with no questions asked. Any and all work I have had done by them has been top notch. Been a customer for a number of years now and I would highly recommend this garage for any and all your biking needs from simple questions, new riding gear to new/used bikes as well as service and repair.

Negative experience: I bought my previous bike here, new, and am interested in looking at the latest MT-09 SP and arranging a test ride so popped in. It's really gone downhill... Inside the dealership was a mess of bikes all muddled up - some new, some used, some in bits with parts on the floor around them, some partially unpacked from crates. There didn't seem to be any order to it, so I figured I'd speak to someone, but the only visible member of staff was on their mobile having a heated argument. After about 15 minutes I got sick of waiting and left. Update: Popped in recently to buy a part and it hasn't improved any. The part I wanted was 5x the price of buying online - you don't mind paying a *little* more to have something off the shelf when you need it, but 5x is taking the mick - and they'd have had to order it anyways.

Negative experience: Well, I just wanted to forget about it but finally, I find reviews helpful so here it goes. A while ago I brought my bike to get fixed at Powerbiking after an accident I had. Insurance would cover the cost. I received a call to go get the bike as it was ready. Next day I realised that half of the fixings were done and half were missing! The insurance company was charged correctly but the bike was fixed half way there. At the end I had to go again and collect everything else which was not fixed when it was supposed to and I realised that they had not ordered all the parts for my bike (but they charged the insurance for that!) so they placed an order that day because I asked for that. I am done! Your life your choice Have a good day!

Negative experience: DO NOT EVEN THINK TO TAKE YOUR MOTORBIKE TO THIS DEALER I took my TMAX DX for service and to deal with the engine management light which was on straight away after starting the vehicle and did not go out. When I collected the motorbike, I was told that they had carried out a “full service” with normal result. 10 days later the vehicle developed serious fault, it did not start at all. They collected my motorbike from my workplace. I called them a week after collection and they said there is a problem with the immobiliser so they need to order a new part and with a half an hour job it will cost 185£s. I said go ahead. After I called them each and every week for update, they knew that I need the motorbike back ASAP because I use it for my everyday job. THEY NEVER CALLED ME so I just kept calling them and after 1 month waiting, they said they carried out a 10 hours job and it costs 890£s!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course I did not pay this amount and they have been reported to trading standards. I experienced very bad customer service, they have never updated me or offered me any replacement during one month and went ahead without my permission!! When I asked my old part back what they have replaced they said “unfortunately we cannot find it”. Well, I am not even sure that they changed anything in my motorbike. I truly believe THIS DEALER WANTED TO RIP ME OFF!!!!

Well today she had a serious accident on it so I really hope that when forensics check the bike that you did all the work you said you did??? Or you are in serious trouble

Fantastic experience: I just bought a used Triumph Tiger 800 from Paul at PowerBiking. I have to say the nicest buying experience I have ever had from a bike dealer (riding over 30 years I've bought plenty of bikes to compare with!) I am always slightly suspicious of salesman, they always have an agenda, and you can never truly trust them. Not so these guys! Paul was friendly, patient, helpful and made the entire experience thoroughly enjoyable (as buying a new bike should be!) On the ride down from Birmingham on the back of a mate my helmet broke, he even knocked 35% off a new helmet so I could ride home. The mate who gave me a lift ended up buying a BMW GS1200 the same day! Only downside is it's not local. Forgot to mention, the quality bike preparation. Every used bike was immaculately valeted and prepared, and freshly coated in a protective layer of ACF50. The bike I bought was 9 years old, but could be mistaken for new.

Fantastic experience: Went out of my way from London to High Wycombe because I heard good things about PowerBiking from a fellow rider in Cambridge, whilst chit chatting about his Fireblade that got stolen. Also heard about them from a couple local youtubers, etc. I can't recommend them enough, I went in looking for a 2016/17 Tracer 900 used, for around 6k - 7k, ended up being upsold the demo bike 2020 Tracer 900 GT (on a good deal!). This was done during COVID-19 outbreak, so there were some problems with the credit company due to some details etc, but Paul was kind enough to lend me a similar bike for a week until it got sorted: when I went there to pick up my vehicle, Paul was kind enough to make up for the hassle and hooked me missus up with a nice discount on a nice touring jacket we were eyeing. Will definitely do business with them in the future and recommend PowerBiking to my friends and family.

Fantastic experience: I walked through the doors and got greeted by Paul i am extremely happy with the level of service we had gone through making the bike what i want it to look like sam was also very helpful he knows his stuff when it comes down to biking and Lauren was extremely helpful and patient with me while trying on different helmets. Just wanted to say a big thank you to the team at Power Biking especially Paul i would recommend everyone to purchase from there all day every day, In fact they were so good i even got another bike from Paul Big thanks once again guys And will be seeing you soon.

Negative experience: Regular customer. I bought riding glasses here the frame on which became defective within 3 weeks. The shop refused to exchange them as they were sold discounted - which I wasn't told at time of sale. They offered to sell me another pair instead. I declined.

Fantastic experience: I am always a bit afraid of new garages and workshops but... I have been recommended to go to Powebiking workshop to carry on a delicate job on the top end of my 900cc. I have been very satisfied with the professionalism and the passion they've put in. They went above my expectations. All I personally want, is to see a mechanic that treat my motorcycle like his own one. They've hit the spot, and pricing is honest. The dealer has a great selection of bikes and garment. The staff gave me that familiar feeling I expect when buying a new motorbike or equipment. I can be very fussy, but in this case I recommend Powerbiking hands down.
