Fantastic experience: I've attempted 3 cbts , my 1st was at a place in Wolverhampton (I won't name) last 2 at blacktop , and this is the 2nd Time I've been back , I refuse to use any other trainers now , whether it's your first time or not , I firmly suggest you try and book at BMT, warm, friendly, easy to talk to staff , relaxed atmosphere , everyone is made to feel comfortable , good clear instructions . Negative experience: Partner tried contacting twice by phone call as traffic was bad and was 5 minutes late to be turned away because she didn’t want to go back. Waste of £165. Do not use this company!

Negative experience: I had booked this session about 2 weeks ago and when I arrived I could not participate due to sessions only allowing two trainees at the time. I don’t blame the instructors but the company itself. I had prepared and gotten up early on a Sunday to then being told I could not do my CBT. Now I must wait 1 month to free up my schedule to do my CBT since I cannot find any sessions during the weekend. I advise that after booking to call them and ensure they haven’t overbooked.

Fantastic experience: Was great, hadn’t rode a bike before and they made it very comfortable to learn. Passed my cbt on an automatic moped first time. Was offered lunch from food van and had an ice cream bought for me as was a very hot day. Couldn’t of asked for anything else from them, good environment, instructors and bikes.

Fantastic experience: Great team at black top. I came for my CBT at the start of July - Meg is very patient and relaxed and talks you through it very well. Then just passed my full cat A licence after a 3 day course with Craig who was also excellent and really put me at ease and built my confidence for the test. The team here are friendly and welcoming (I had done a CBT years ago but other than that very little riding experience) and yet the progress I have made allowed me to pass my test first time. Well done Stephen in creating a fun environment to learn to ride.

Fantastic experience: What a brilliant experience with Steve, down to earth, clear and concise without making you uncomfortable and always ensuring you’re happy to continue. I didn’t know exactly what the day would be like so kept an open mind, needless to say if I go on to do further lessons this would be the place to come to. Negative experience: Rip off merchants! My son was booked on the CBT 'training' course, or lack of training more like! On the day he was booked with an experienced rider from India who just needed a UK licence and another experienced rider with points looking to get back on the road. My son completed the first hour health and safety briefing and then moved on to the getting to know the bike on a car park. My son is a complete novice, has not been illegally riding bikes on fields so had zero experience, hence attending a CBT, again, emphasis on the training, else how can one get "legal" motorbike experience. My son was not deemed competent enough with the clutch after the first 2 hours so quite rightly was not allowed on the road. Here's the rip off part! Government guidelines state that more than 2 learner riders require 2 instructors on the road, 1 or 2 learner riders only require a single instructor. There was an instructor available, but instead of keep my lad back at the car park and continuing his training, he was sent home! He paid £165 for an hours briefing and only 2 hours riding. This to me is not fulfilling a full days training as per what's been paid for in the CBT. I think both instructors have wanted an early finish, which is deplorable and has knocked my lads confidence! STEER WELL CLEAR OF THESE RIP OFF MERCHANTS!

Fantastic experience: I had my CBT at Rowley Regis goals car park. My initial CBT got cancelled due to bad weather but I was easily rebooked in for the following week. After some initial nerves and almost running down an instructor things went much better and it ended up being a very fun day. I especially want to shout out Craig for his clear guidance, good sense of humour and passion for teaching, which all shone through even under some tough circumstances on the day. The bikes were all very well kept, the progression through the day felt very natural and following the road ride there's no going back for me now; I'll definitely be sorting out a 125 and will be back for my full license before too long. My thanks to the whole Blacktop family. Ride safe!

Fantastic experience: So I'm not usually one for writing reviews but personally this review, I feel should be shared. I had a fantastic day both with Meg and Steve who were really encouraging, welcoming, supportive and very patient with new Learners on two wheels. They took time to get to know everybody individually and understand their personal learning styles to adapt for everybody to feel at ease. The day was full of laughs but still focused on learning with plenty of opportunity to ask questions or go over anything anyone was unsure about it was a very relaxed professional atmosphere. I would definitely recommend to eveyone wishing or even nervous about joining the biking world and im finally excited to have my CBT and look forward to doing my full course for many years of enjoyment on two wheels. Meg specifically was very kind, experienced and knowledgeable with confidence and funny all while remaining professional and getting the job done. They were very generous and provided refreshments for all with a relaxed attitude and environment. Overall a 10/10 experience and i feel completely comfortable and ready to start my biking journey. Fantastic experience: Successfully completed my CBT today with Blacktop Motorcycle Training. Megan is a great instructor, 10/10 from me. As a 37 year old who has never officially been trained on a bike, she was patient and maybe all aspects of learning simple for me to pick up. Steve took me out on the road, what a great bloke. He could see at times I was rushing or in a panic. Steve has a calming demeanour and after having a quiet word with me, made me feel relaxed. The penny quickly dropped, I stopped panicking and my confidence went through the roof. I would recommend Blacktop to any who is serious about learning to ride a motorbike. *UPDATE* Following on from my successful CBT, I have now passed both MOD1 and MOD2 tests. Steve and the rest of the Blacktop instructors are unreal. Friendly, caring, supportive, fantastic instructors. I really could not fault them in any way shape or form. Fantastic experience: The only thing I can really say is that the instructors were amazing. I emphasised my concerns as the last time I was on a motorcycle I was in an accident. They made it incredibly comfortable to get back on to the bike. I then shared interest in doing my direct access and they allowed me chance to try a bigger bike to see if I liked it. I LOVED IT. They have made me get an itch for riding. I will definitely be back to my direct access with them next year.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience with blacktop motorcycle training. I booked a direct access course with blacktop as a 50th birthday present to myself having very minimal experience with bikes beforehand. I struggled with clutch control on the first day doing my cbt. Steve pulled out all the stops and put me straight into an additional days training the following day with Craig who got me through my cbt, and straight on a 650. I started the DAS training then on the Monday morning, and they pretty unbelievably got me upto test standard by the Wednesday. Unfortunately I failed my mod 1 at the first attempt, not because I wasn’t capable just because my nerves got the better of me on the day. Steve actually appeared to take my fail quite personally and didn’t charge me for that day at all which left me with 2 days of my DAS course still. I got booked in for a retest had another days training previously and passed, then was put straight in for my mod 2 which Sarah booked rapidly as a cancellation the following week and Meg even came in, in the middle of her holiday to take me to test. Which I’m happy to say I passed this week, despite the 4 hours soaking we had in the British summer! I honestly can’t fault the guys at blacktop. Extremely patient, understanding, helpful, knowledgeable, and committed to getting you through your test but most importantly passionate about giving you the skills you need to become a safe and competent rider. Extremely professional company with a friendly ‘one big family’ feel about it. Looking forward to getting a few miles under my belt now I’ve passed, and I’ll pop and see you all soon for a brew. Thank you for your help, your patience with me, and for going the extra mile and working on your hard earned week off, to get me through, all your efforts and commitment are very much appreciated.

Negative experience: Not what I expected… I initially booked my CBT for August 22, 2023. Blacktop texted me at 7 pm the day before to cancel due to "instructor availability." The fact that Blacktop couldn't find another instructor to fill in was concerning. On Blacktop's website, their cancellation policy states they require a minimum of 48 hours' notice before training, to get a refund. They did offer a refund, but I just booked another day with them. So, I had my CBT on September 12, 2023, at the Rowley Regis site in the car park of Goals. As someone who has never ridden a motorcycle before, I did enjoy the training until I was told that I needed more training after struggling with U-turns on the car park. I could do it, but sometimes I forgot the shoulder check or the motorcycle juddered or stalled. One issue was the car park's slight incline, not an issue in normal riding. But for a beginner, controlling the throttle on an incline made the manoeuvres challenging. Coming downhill, stalling was less of a concern, but going uphill required extra attention, leading to stalls. After about 30 minutes of trying, the instructor (Meg) suggested I return for more training at an additional £160 cost. So, I paid £160 for half a day of training, and they recommended a full day's training because of U-turn difficulties. For a "Compulsory Basic Training," i felt cheated. Blacktop didn't acknowledge that they offered only half a day's training for the cost of a full day (£160) or refund part of it. I expected them to offer reduced-cost additional training since I could perform other manoeuvres well. On Blacktop's website, they claim "Learn at your own pace," but it comes at a price. You don't have all day; in fact, you have half a day. You must learn quickly, or it could cost you another £160. The Gov.uk syllabus states that learners should develop enough basic skills to ride safely before hitting the road. I mastered many skills except U-turns, which I believe would have improved with more time. I felt ready for road training, but I won't risk another £160 with Blacktop for another half-day. If you consider them for your CBT, know they can cut training short if they deem you unready. I would argue that I demonstrated road-ready skills and have a Full UK driving license since 2005. Training aims for proficient manoeuvres, but learning occurs through practice. Stopping me after half a day hindered that. I wished to continue U-turn practice until day's end, considering I paid for it, then book half a day for road training. But perhaps that's too considerate. I hope this review helps someone, good luck, ride safe.

Fantastic experience: Great team of instructors very accommodating cups of tea on the go lunch provided if needed. They are great teachers happy to give demonstration's explains everything very clear couldn't ask for better would definitely recommend. Fantastic experience: Alison and I took our CBT on scooters, with Megan, for insurance purposes abroad. We were taken through the test with an informal but positive and professional approach which was very reassuring, and all aspects of basic riding were covered. Out on the road Megan is calm, informative and helpful, giving us the confidence to complete the course. All the equipment and bikes are excellent and there are toilet and snack facilities at the Goals site. It was such a good experience it inspired us to consider a motorbike career in the future. Fantastic experience: Booked in to renew my CBT with Blacktop today and had a great day with Meg who, along with everyone else at Blacktop made us feel very welcome. The day was tailored to the students experience of riding so we all completed the compulsory parts of the CBT and those of us with CBT's to renew went for the ride out whilst the newbies were given time to build their confidence off road. It's my second time with Blacktop for a CBT and both times they have shown great passion for what they do and a real commitment to make sure we have the skills required to stay safe on the road.

Fantastic experience: I completed my CBT with them recently and the environment was immediately warm and welcoming, it started with friendly introductions and the instructor never was cold or mean spirited to me even when I made a few mistakes. She helped me get a hold on the controls and led to me feeling extremely confident on the road which I was quite worried about originally. If I were to recommend a place to get a CBT as a 16 year old (even if the drive is relatively long like mine was) I would mention here without a second doubt. 5 stars even seems low for this place.

Fantastic experience: Booked my first CBT for a week ago on Tuesday, from knowing nothing about Motorcycles to manoeuvring around a car park wasn't just fun, it was inspiring. All thanks to the CBT instructor Megan, although I'd gone home on the Tuesday she really helped in making me understand the hazards in live traffic. I booked my CBT again for the Thursday in the following week eager to prove to myself that I could pass, and again all thanks to Megan that dream soon became a lot more real. Blacktop instructors are genuinely some of the most caring and considerate people you'll find to help you along the journey, they treat you with so much respect you feel like you've known them for years.

Fantastic experience: Amazing day really chilled instructor called craig. Very supportive and professional really got ypu going fast but made sure you knew what you were doing.

Fantastic experience: Been to blacktop twice now for my CBT and A2 wouldn't think of going elsewhere. They do everything by the book teach brilliantly and most importantly let their results speak for them. Me and the other lad I did my test with both passed no minors. Can't recommend them enough

Fantastic experience: One were kick out due to not concentrate what instructor was saying because it is about your safety when you driving with instructor later so it is reasonable So make sure you make enough sleep lol Pros: Small class teaching Care the detail while you’re driving in car park Kill the language barrier explain what is necessary to know about the standards in equipments,etc Cons: Can’t found one yet

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful day, after having zero experience on the road at all i was a nervous wreck the whole day, i was made to feel at ease by Meg and Steve who are honestly fantastic. Meg was patient and very understanding and i couldn't of passed without her and i cant speak highly enough of her. If you are hesitant about doing your cbt then i can assure you that you will be absolutely fine and in safe hands with these two, very friendly and a very relaxed environment, 10/10

Fantastic experience: had my cbt today it couldnt of gone any better, extremely nervous at first but my instructor meg soon calmed me down, absolutely fantastic day, even offered us all if we wanted some maccies or drinks all throughout the day thankyou so much for giving me the confidence i needed! 10/10 recommend to anyone wanting to do cbt

Fantastic experience: Did my CBT yesterday with Meg and can’t speak highly enough of both her and Steve.Anyone wishing to do your training this is the place to go whether advanced or beginner they put you totally at ease and make the whole experience enjoyable.Even bought us a Maccies and had time for a chat afterwards couldn’t ask for more.Whether I do my full license or another CBT I’ll definitely be going back,brilliant!
