Our comment from DrivingSchoolsTOP.co.uk about Off the Kerb Motorcycle Training:
A supportive environment for safe and confident riding
Off the Kerb Motorcycle Training has established a strong reputation in London for delivering high-quality rider education, particularly at their White City training site. The school specializes in a comprehensive range of courses, from the mandatory Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) for beginners to the Direct Access Scheme (DAS), which leads to a full unrestricted Category A motorcycle license. They also offer specialized modules such as gear conversion courses and Certificate of Professional Competence (CAP) training, ensuring that riders at every stage of their journey receive tailored support.
Expert instruction with a focus on patience and engagement
What consistently stands out in student feedback is the exceptional caliber of the instructors. The team is frequently praised for their deep technical knowledge, professionalism, and, most importantly, their patience. Many reviews highlight how instructors like Richard, Dom, Steve, John, and Adam manage to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, often using humor and engaging storytelling to keep students motivated. This approach helps to alleviate the natural nervousness many first-time riders feel, turning what could be a stressful experience into an enjoyable day of learning.
- Small group ratios: The school maintains a maximum of two students per instructor for road training, ensuring personalized attention and allowing for immediate, constructive feedback.
- High pass rates: The focused, one-on-one style of instruction contributes to an extremely high success rate, with many students passing their Module 1 and Module 2 tests on their first attempt.
- Comprehensive guidance: Instructors are noted for not just teaching test maneuvers, but for instilling safe riding habits and confidence that last beyond the exam.
Well-maintained fleet and practical facilities
Students appreciate the quality of the training equipment provided. The fleet includes modern, well-maintained motorcycles, ranging from 125cc bikes for CBT to larger 650cc and 750cc models for advanced and direct access courses. These bikes are described as reliable and fun to ride, which significantly aids the learning process. The training facilities at White City are also commended for being safe, spacious, and conveniently located near public transport, providing an ideal environment for practicing maneuvers before heading onto the road.

Negative experience: Unprofessional, Hostile Training Environment I had a deeply uncomfortable experience during my scooter training with Off the Kerb. The instructor, an ex-military man, made constant racist, homophobic, and misogynistic remarks throughout the session. Instead of focusing on the course, he spent an unreasonable amount of time asking irrelevant pub quiz-style questions, which seemed more about showing off his own knowledge than teaching us anything useful. This behavior made it difficult to concentrate and created an anxious and hostile learning environment. I believe everyone deserves a safe, respectful space to learn, and this was far from it. If you’re considering this training provider, I strongly advise you to ask for a different trainer or seek out an alternative provider. The company should take action to better vet its instructors to ensure professionalism and respect for all trainees.
Fantastic experience: Had a really enjoyable day on my CBT course at Off The Kerb. Our instructor was Peter and all the lessons both on the bike and in the classroom were informative and engaging. When we went out onto the road, I felt confident and well looked after. Would highly recommend doing the training here.
Thanks Paul, glad to hear you enjoyed your CBT training with Peter. We'll be sure to pass on the feedback to him. All the best and safe riding!
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended no doubt, very professional and a good sense of humor. Thank you Peter!
Negative experience: The treatment was very bad and all the time the trainers were laughing at the students among themselves and the tall trainer is very racist if you are not born in the UK he is very bad and gave me bad motivation and talked to me in a bad way and made me drive in the first row for more than an hour and the person who was with me because he was born here drove only ten minutes he wanted me to show any mistake and deliberately took a long time with me. The coach should be kind and friendly, give you confidence in yourself, and not discourage you. Even if you make a mistake, he should teach you in a good way.
First may I say we are very disappointed that you didn't attempt to reach out to us with any of your concerns and instead just left a 1 star review. We have no idea who you are as you didn't even leave it under your real name, denying us the right to comment on the specifics of your course, which I am assuming was CBT but can't be entirely sure? You are essentially complaining that you received more training than that of the other students, which seems rather strange because training is what you paid for. Safety is our number one priority and if you didn't receive a certificate of completion on the day of your course its because it would have been deemed that you were not yet safe to be out on public roads on your own. As we make clear, a CBT course is not guaranteed and for some, one day is not enough, which is why we offer returns to re-attempt at heavily discounted rates. We operate from one of the most diverse areas in London and would not enjoy the 4.7 star google ratings we have if your claims of racism were actually true. May I suggest that the next time you leave someone a negative review, at least have the common courtesy to leave it in your real name so they have the chance to respond to the specifics of your booking. Many thanks.
Fantastic experience: "The Best CBT Test Ever—More Like a Stand-Up Show Than a Class! ️" I took my one-day CBT test at your driving school, and let me tell you, the whole experience flew by like a breeze. Both instructors are absolute pros, and honestly, I could trust them to teach me to ride a bike, drive a spaceship, or maybe even babysit my pet goldfish. From start to finish, not a single minute passed without laughter. It's like attending a comedy show where you just happen to learn how to ride a motorcycle in between jokes! Seriously, who knew theory could be so interesting? I actually looked forward to it! It's like they turned the boring stuff into a stand-up gig. I mean, who needs Netflix when you can learn theory from these guys? There were so many useful tips and real-life stories about riding on the road that I swear I left the class more knowledgeable than I ever thought possible. And no worries—my English may not be perfect, but I didn’t need to say a word. The instructors were so funny, I barely noticed the language barrier. The lesson felt more like a TED Talk meets Comedy Central, and I absorbed ten times more than any boring lecture I’ve ever sat through. I made a couple of mistakes during the test, but thank goodness they were chill and didn’t make a big deal out of it. So, a massive thank you to everyone for making the day unforgettable! ️ Hope to see you all again soon. With better English, of course! Best wishes, Mister Putin!
