Fantastic experience: Just obtained my full licence with Shires, based at West Bridgford. The trainers Leo, Ash and Colin were fantastic, not forgetting Shaun who I completed my CBT with last year! All are very knowledgeable, patient and gave me the confidence I needed to achieve my licence. Thanks guys

Fantastic experience: Having done my CBT elsewhere, I turned to Shires for my Mod 1 and Mod 2 and I couldn't be more pleased. Ash, Leo and Colin instructed me at various times through the process and each of them has been a joy. So positive (and patient) throughout. Honestly, couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Recommend to me by a friend who used them 8 years ago and still raved about them, I called up and was put at ease straight away with their taking care of all of the bookings for training and tests in one simple bundle. The CBT training was brilliant, put at ease and given the building blocks as foundations for the rest of the training. Throughout Theory Test, Mod1 and Mod2 the people at Shires were fantastic. Ash, Leo, Colin, Paul and the others I've interacted with are all passionate, knowledgeable and great at communicating; I really couldn't have hoped for more. Fantastic experience: Absolutely Amazing. I'm terrible at names but Shawn/Sean and the gentleman with him were phenomenal. Made us all feel comfortable and took us through our CBT at our own pace, even exploring alternative learning methods to tailor the teaching experience to the individual. As someone who used to teach Special educational needs, it's clear that the team put communication and understanding above all else and have gone far beyond what would be expected to provide a rich learning environment. Fantastic experience: Fully trained with Shires, from CBT to full A license. I completed my CBT at the Derby site, great place and equipment. The support offered was second to none. I completed my full license over 4 days split over 2 weeks. I had great tuition from Paul, Leo and Colin. They were knowledgeable, gave great constructive feedback to help push me and help getting my mod 1 up to scratch. The team at Shires were tremendous, great atmosphere, continually positive. The gear they had on site was well looked after and good quality. Being able to use your own gear if you wanted, as I only currently have summer gear I was able to borrow all weather coat and helmet. The bikes they have are immaculate, I rode both the 125 and 650 Kawasaki. All the bikes had protective crash bars and were extremely well looked after. Overall my time learning with Shires was better than I hoped, I came out having learnt alot aswell as feeling confident when getting on a bike. The vast knowledge that all the instructors has was reassuring, with helpful tips and tricks to improve riding its made me really looking forward to get on my own bike and getting out there. Thank you everyone at Shires, from the tutors to everyone at HQ it's been great!

Fantastic experience: The BEST instructor team in Nottingham! All the instructors are friendly and calming. They are so well organised they dont waste any of your precious time. Ash a star as always giving plenty of details into why something went wrong. Leo wants you to ride the best way you can giving very useful tips and advice. Collin is the main MOD2 guy he loves a good ride out session. He will tell you if you missed a vital action on the road. Has a great sense of humour for an older guy. Had me in stitches at the red light! If you want to breeze through improving and tests these are the team to go for! I personally used them to pass my A1 then BREEZED passed my FULL A licence 1st time a few months later!

Fantastic experience: I’ve just passed my Mod 2 having undergone all of the training at Shires, from CBT to Mod 1 and Mod 2. Everyone at Shires has been brilliant! Jo and Holly in the office have made booking the sessions easy which is a huge help when fitting things in around work. All of the trainers have been amazing. They’ve provided so much knowledge & experience with professionalism and humour and it has helped me achieve my full licence. Even though the training has finished and I’m excited to get out on my bike, I’m actually quite sad to leave Shires as I always looked forward to going in because of the environment created by all of the instructors. Fantastic experience: Never used this company before but was highly impressed with Shires Motorcycle Training Limited. From the initial telephone call which was extremely quick and easy to book to the day training. The training set-up was very professional, friendly and very informative and both the instructors Shaun and Leo worked extremely hard to make sure you clearly understood the training and throughout I even learnt many more skills than throughout my long career of driving. Fantastic experience: The cbt course with ash and Shaun was great! With already having a general understanding of how the bike works and riding one previously, they helped my confidence with certain things I was really struggling against, most other cbt trainers tend to lose their patience with new riders but not with shires, they were great when it came to inexperienced riders and helped them that extra step! I would highly recommend using Shires Motorcycle Training whether that be a CBT, a geared bike conversion or if you’re really feeling up to it your Mod 1&2 bike test, they are a all round highly professional bunch and I will definitely be taking any bike test I have in the future with them!

Fantastic experience: Had my CBT with Carl and couldn’t be happier with his approach to teaching, like anybody they’re riddled with nerves on these things due to not knowing what to expect and potentially not passing. Carl explained every element in detail, really took the time to answer any questions and expand on points I or others made during the day. I felt like I was in really safe hands, he had an incredible attitude and so much patience (as do the entire team) and I can’t wait to progress into my geared lessons, and remaining tests with them over the next few weeks!

I've learnt with Shires all the way from a ped to my full bike licence and they are fantastic. The instructors have great knowledge, and prepare your properly for achieving your licence. Fantastic experience: I passed with Shires in August 2023, both tests passed first time, they arranged everything including, arranging my theory test and both my module one and two tests. They are great from the admin team to the instructors, I didn’t want to go anywhere else and I’m glad I didn’t, first time pass on both modules and I’m now riding a vintage BMW R100, a once very practical bike but now it’s a bobber with no mudguards I love it. I’ve not been back to see them yet but I will pop in for a brew, but I will very soon thanks everyone at shires.

I couldn't see at one point and made a mistake he just pulled us over so I can adjust my helmet and could get going again. Helped reccomend new gear aswell. Fantastic experience: All I can say is great! Completed my mod 1 and mod 2 training with these chaps and they were all great. Had Ash and Leo for my mod 1 - both helpful and friendly. Worked with me on an individual basis until I had nailed all the manoeuvres. Colin was great! Had him for my mod 2 training all the way up to test. Very helpful and learnt some advanced techniques which has changed the way I ride for the better.

Fantastic experience: Did my CBT with Carl - who was fantastic! Although I was a little nervous to say the least, he put me at ease and encouraged me through the day. The session was fun & informative from the beginning & I learned a lot. Facilities, kit & bikes were fantastic. It was cold & rained in the morning, however the kit kept me warm & dry. No waiting around, everything was explained and planned out well. Instructions & communication well received on the car park & on the road. 2 hour road ride went so fast, I really enjoyed it. Completed the day with my partner which made the day easier as he & Carl both had the patience of saints ❤️ We left happy with our CBT certificates in hand looking forward to continuing on to do our ‘A’ licences. Fantastic experience: I had Carl for my CBT, he was very professional, funny and informative. He spent a lot of time with me and my partner on our CBT training, nothing was to much for him. With my partner being a first time rider and falling off on the car park training (which of course up set her! especially because she thinks she's the best) he showed great skills in coaching her back on the bike and helping her to regain her confidence. What a great guy, 5 stars for Carl top bloke. Two very happy trainees.

Fantastic experience: So after 18 years off the bike I still can't shake the bug. I thought I better have a bit of a refresher to get back into it and see if it was still for me before splashing out on a brand new z900 and killing myself. Derby Kawasaki suggested I check out Shires. I rang and spoke to Paul and he set me up with Colin for a three hour session. Booking, payment and joining instructions were all straight forward. Turned up at the Bridgford site, session started on time, all staff were friendly, I was kitted out head to toe in clean and well maintained kit. I even had a choice of bike, again my z650 was spot on as well. Colin explained the basics and reminded me of a few bits, we had a quick wobble round the (large and flat) car park and we were off out on the road, no mucking about. We had a great session, he instilled loads of confidence in me and taught me a lot. One way helmet comms weren't an issue, lots of clear calm instruction and a few terrible jokes. We stopped for a coffee where I was able to pick his brains about all sorts and headed back in, he even let me try his bike for size. Really worthwhile, couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Positive experience: Booked a cbt over the phone, for my son . Had to phone up a second time because I never received a conformation email. I assumed he was doing a cbt on a geared bike as I was not given the option. When we arrived at the centre. I was told he was going out on a twist and go . We I questioned this . I was told I'd booked it online. When I said I'd booked and paid over the phone. Oh well! Was the answer from the management. On the other hand the instructors where fantastic and could do enough for my son . Made him feel at home and at ease . Very friendly bunch . My advise would be to make sure what bike your getting, ie geared or twist and go .

Fantastic experience: After using Derbyshire Most Superior Motorcycle school (Shires) I can recommend them and there instructors 100%. I had Ash for my Mod 1 and Colin for my Mod 2. Both instructors were absolutely amazing. All staff were very friendly throughout. I had previously had a bad experience with another one of Derbyshire('s) Motorbike School(s) and can truly say that Shires are professional during the booking stage through to completion of my full license. Fantastic experience: These guys are amazing! I did the five day course and was so impressed by every instructor I had. They were all kind and encouraging and clearly very skilled riders. A special mention to holly behind the scenes, willing to help you out however she can. I was by no means a natural but managed to get all first time test passes. It’s a tough course but with the great instructors, good bikes and all the kit you could need it’s all achievable. Even with a few laughs along the way! If you’re looking for a riding school I can not recommend this one enough. You won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: After a break from biking following an unpleasant experience with another training provider it was refreshing to speak with Shires who offered good advice and communication from the start. Leo, my instructor was excellent & we had a great 140 (ish) mile ride with plenty of good advice and reassurance offered throughout the day. Thank you Leo, you made a big difference to my confidence & I appreciate the excellent advice & way it was explained. I am now looking to get a bigger bike & will then look to Shires for further training to develop my skills. I thoroughly enjoyed my back to biking day with Shires & highly recommended them.

Fantastic experience: Can't praise you all enough for helping me get my A1 licence. It was a great experience with some great lessons with down to earth and knowledgable bikers. Although I should've listened to you and gone for the full licence! At least it's an excuse to have to come back. Fantastic experience: I took my full unrestricted A license training with shires and passed both the Mod 1 and Mod 2 first time. The whole team were super friendly, professional and all great teachers. They started me off on a 125cc practising the Mod1 test route for a morning, then we progressed onto the 650cc. Once I passed my Mod1, I had a full day and a half of practise for my mod 2 before going for the test. Really happy and thankful for the team. Thanks Paul, Leo, Ash and Colin. They also provide brand new bikes to practise on, and all the kit (including trousers and boots)
