Driving School Wirral

Fantastic experience: I've known Carol, the director, for years. But she had switched to teaching automatic by the time I wanted to learn manual. Although I stopped and started after moving away and back again, I finally passed first time with Derek. I can't recommend the school enough for getting you ready to pass. I found parts of learning to drive difficult being Dyspraxic and potential ADHD. But I feel supported to work through this not only to pass my test but to be a better driver as well.

Fantastic experience: I had such an amazing experience, thanks to my driving instructor, Mark. When I started my lessons, I was quite nervous and anxious, but he made me feel so relaxed during my lessons. He taught me things that my previous driving instructor had never told me about before. Mark also made sure that I understood everything and figured out the best way to teach me is by visual learning and he made it so personable. He made it fun and I was able to pass first time thanks to him!!

Fantastic experience: Mark has been an amazing instructor with neverending patience. My anxiety whilst driving has gone from 10 to 0 and my confidence has only gone up. I could not have felt more prepared for my test, and now for driving on my own.

Fantastic experience: Managed to pass first time, had a great experience learning how to drive, my instructor Mark is a fantastic teacher, I've learned tonnes and tonnes during my lessons, couldn't recommend him as an instructor enough, took a while to pass but it's been an absolute pleasure, thanks again!

Fantastic experience: I had the pleasure of working with Lynsey, she started teaching me in June and l passed on my first attempt in October, honestly she was the most amazing teacher very patient and attentive to my needs. I had previously had a few instructors but by far she was understanding and l am very happy and l just wanted to share my experience.

Negative experience: One star review as Google doesn't allow for none... @Driving School Wirral, hoping to have more success here in receiving a response to my numerous emails and calls requesting repayment of my £50 deposit, now over three weeks overdue, and 50 days since original cancellation. I have emailed again this morning - please could I receive a response and repayment as a matter of urgency. Not a great experience.

Fantastic experience: I joined in 2019 and was on and off through covid and affordability and my theory expiring so needing to do it twice, Andy was my instructor and was patient and helpful all the way up until my pass date today, took time out of the weekends to smoothen up some edges and even did lessons free building up to the test to keep the consistency, I’d recommend andy to everyone needing that extra bit of patience and time as it helped me massively not only on my test but driving forever. Much appreciated and relieved now after all the set backs it’s done, thanks again

Fantastic experience: Andrew Goodwin from Driving School Wirral was my son's instructor. He was brilliant and my son passed first time. He was patient, very knowledgeable, he made time in the week of the test to do extra lessons, he shared pictures of his car to learn the "show me/tell me" questions and other resources, we were given free access to the highway code app and he taught my son not to just pass the test but good habits for a life of driving. He was excellent!

Negative experience: My young adult was accepted onto a waiting list at the start of the year, it's now mid September and being told nothing although they posted a month the waiting list for automatics is open. Lesson have previously been taken with this company but this times been a total letdown as the instructor wasn't able to communicate. Many messages with owner making promises even within last 2 weeks but sadly nothing came of it. I feel disappointed that young people can be treated like this after such a long wait. Very fast to accept deposits and fast to post there pupils pass photos but lacking in communication and honesty while claiming lessons will start soon.

Fantastic experience: Carl was a really good teacher through out never been let down by him with inconsistent lessons or anything, really good teacher who genuinly has his best interests for the pupil would 100 percent recommend the driving school to anyone and I can’t thank Carl enough for how good he was.

Fantastic experience: Fab driving school! I passed with Katy back in January and she’s an amazing instructor. I was a super nervous driver to begin with and it probably took me longer than most to get my licence, but Katy was always super patient and understanding. I never once felt pressured and she would cater the lessons to what I wanted to do, happily going over things until my confidence grew. I now love driving and I’m super grateful to Katy and the driving school for helping me achieve something I never thought I was capable of! Thank you :)

Fantastic experience: Had the pleasure of Alan as my driving instructor for almost a year. He is a great guy and a fabulous driving instructor. The skills he taught me will stay for life and he has really helped me make safe decisions on the road. Today, I passed first time with 2 minors, all thanks to Alan who helped me believe in myself and gave me loads of confidence in my ability to drive. Fantastic experience: Driving School Wirral have provided great support through my driving journey! Katy is a fantastic driving instructor who went above and beyond during my time taking lessons. She is exceptionally accommodating and extremely understanding, helping me feel at ease during my time as a new learner. Through my lessons, Katy made certain that the pace of learning was appropriate for me, allowing me to gain confidence in my driving abilities. Whenever I felt unsure about any aspect of driving, she would gladly discuss the topic and adapt our sessions which allowed me to secure the confidence and continue to progress by the end of each session. I cannot thank Katy enough for being so friendly and empathetic, for helping me gain a first-time pass, and for the freedom she has helped me achieve! Additionally, I had the pleasure of meeting Carol, who was extremely welcoming and shared great advice that will be put to good use through my time driving. From my experience with Driving School Wirral, I am certain the instructors here are enthusiastic about teaching learners to become safe and confident drivers, and highly recommend this driving school for anyone considering learning to drive!

Fantastic experience: Massive thanks to my driving instructor Chris, he is an absolute legend. I felt confident and reassured the minute I got in the car, from our very first lesson right to my test. He adapted the lessons to help me understand what to do better, always taking into account how I learnt best and what I struggled with. We fine tuned weaknesses so I passed with only 1 minor. I really enjoyed every lesson and the experience of learning to drive couldn't have been any better. Cant recommend Chris and Driving School Wirral enough! Jaimie M

Fantastic experience: I contacted Carol at Driving School Wirral after I heard such great reviews about her and her instructor training. So far I've had 2 training sessions and I honestly can't thank her enough. She has built my confidence back up and has given me that boost I needed to build my business. Her business knowledge, teaching knowledge and just over all support is amazing!! Honestly I've never met someone in the driving instructor world who wants everyone to do well and wants to share her knowledge to make the roads a safer place. Fantastic experience: I had Derek as my instructor from Driving School Wirral. I went with them due 5o being Autism Champions and having training in ASD and other neurodivergent conditions. I honestly believe that this is why I passed first time with only 2 minor faults. I don't think I would have enjoyed my lessons as much or succeeded as well as I have, if I went with any other driving school!

Fantastic experience: Derek, my instructor, was patient and knowledgeable. Unlike other instructors I have studied under from other schools, Derek has a way of criticising without being condescending which made me look forward to every lesson. I passed with only 3 minors!!!

Fantastic experience: Driving School Wirral is the best place to go for your driving lessons! I have tried other driving instructors/ schools in the past and they don't compare. Caitlin was the most patient, empathetic, kind instructor that really helped me with my confidence with my driving. Now I have passed with no faults and I owe it all to Caitlin from the driving school! Thank you for always believing I could do it!

Fantastic experience: I had Katy as an instructor and she was amazing! She made me feel comfortable from my very first lesson with her and recently helped me pass my driving test first time with only 2 minor faults! Each lesson I felt more encouraged to gain confidence and be more independent without feeling pushed, and I knew I could openly speak about any areas I was feeling less confident with and she would happily take time to discuss them and go over them with me regardless of the lesson plan, and no matter how silly a question I had or mistake I made, I was never made to feel patronised and was always helped in the nicest way possible. The lessons were always adapted to me and my needs/weaker areas and it made the experience feel a lot more personal and as though I had improved as a driver after each lesson. Can’t thank and recommend Katy enough! :)

Fantastic experience: I was taught by Carol, and also had a couple of lessons with Derek, I can't recommend them highly enough. My coordination isn't the best, and I had a lot of anxiety around learning to drive but they both really put me at ease, they are fantastic teachers explaining things clearly and helping me increase my confidence. I passed my test thanks to Driving School Wirral on Saturday, which felt amazing, the only downside is I won't get to see them regularly any more!

Fantastic experience: I passed with Carol around 3yrs ago. I struggled quite badly with anxiety at the time, but with patience and understanding, Carol supported me and I passed my theory and practical test. I now drive a range of different cars for work, which I feel confident because of Carol’s commitment to teaching me. I can’t recommend Carol and her team enough, they’re absolutely brilliant!

Negative experience: Beware that these people are scammers and will fleece your child out of hundreds of pounds if you let them. My daughter had had two tests prior to enrolling with these people, so was already of a decent standard but clearly needed some pointers. The 'instructor' Andy systematically destroyed her confidence with negative comments and ridiculous advice that no motorist would agree with, so that after giving my daughter a further 30 lessons , she was convinced that she would NEVER pass. After finally seeing the light and kicking these charlatans into touch, she started driving her own car with me in the passenger seat. Ten one hour drives and some positive energy later, she took her test and passed with only three minor faults. It makes me so angry to think that people like Andy will destroy young peoples confidence and self belief just in order to keep those fifty pounds an hour flowing. Where is the professionalism? I shall be making a formal complaint to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency about Andy as he should be nowhere near learner drivers and I'm pretty sure that the bosses of DSW know it.
