Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience with Eddie Conner as my driving instructor. From the very first lesson, he was clear in his explanations. He made sure to adapt the lessons to my individual needs, which helped me build confidence behind the wheel quickly. The lessons were well-structured, and I always felt supported, whether I was learning the basics or refining my skills. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: Just some advice to some potentially young/ nervous learner drivers, I wouldn’t do your driving lessons with Able on the off chance you get the same instructor as I did. When I started lessons with him at the start of may I had done a previous block booking with another driving school so was at the stage where I could drive independently with some prompts and guidance from instructor and given the wait for test dates I was advised to book my test for the next available dates which was to be around now. I am not naive to the fact I made mistakes on my lessons even coming up to the test date however I found my instructor to be unwelcoming, inpatient , lazy and I always returned back from my lessons upset. The only reason I persevered for so long with lessons was due to the fact my test was booked but I was not any further forward test ready come October than I was when I started lessons with this instructor, with him also admitting himself my driving capabilities had actually worsened in the time. I know this was because his attitude drained any confidence I had driving . In 6 months of having lessons I paralleled parked maybe 3 times, reversed backwards maybe 2 times, forward/reverse bay parked probably around 5 times all in. Most of my lesson was driving the exact same route as usual which I don’t know if it was down to laziness ect. 2 lessons before my potential test date and it was the first ever mock test we tried. To put it simply I found the guy to be condescending, rude and lazy which is the opposite of what an instructor should be.

Fantastic experience: Today I passed my driving test at Shieldhall area and I am so happy and thankful for the teaching and instructions provided by my driving instructor Eddie. At first, when starting classes three months ago, I was very nervous and made a lot of mistakes. Although I knew a bit to drive, I was finding it hard at roundabouts and doing manoeuvres. But Eddie helped me learn and improve in those areas easily. I feel Eddie took the time to review all the mistakes I made and explained to me calmly the root cause, which helped me correct and improve my driving. Overall my experience was excellent and I would recommend Eddie to my friends.

Negative experience: Avoid at all costs, like that cheap hotel you see on airbnb that you want to go for but has loads of dodgy reviews.

Negative experience: This school is the worst experience I ever had. Very bad instructor and car like rubbish and not road worthy. I'm definitely not recommend it.

Negative experience: I wouldn't recommend this school. I started my lessons with the instructor whose name is Ewen. Everything went quite fine (apart from short notices about lesson cancellation couple of times, confusing the time of the lesson and arriving late) until during one lesson the instructor became annoyed with other drivers' actions. This totally distracted him and he was not able to cope with his own annoyance and behaved quite in an inappropriate way. He wasted the time of the lesson talking about other drivers and expressing his annoyance, became impatient with me and my driving and ended up finishing the lesson half and hour earlier and announcing (!) that our lessons are finished for good. He kept saying that it had nothing to do with me but when I asked for the reason, he said that he just doesn't want to... Needless to say it caused me a lot of inconveniences, not to mention this person being rude, impatient and impolite .

Negative experience: The instructor didn't adjust to my level/experience/skillset. It was a waste of my time, not his: I felt he purposedly slowed the class to stretch this in over as many classes as possible. Alas, I shall not use them again in the future

Negative experience: Payed £700 odd on a crash course and I only got about half my lessons before they started avoiding me, spent most my lessons sitting in a waste ground not driving. Went through two instructors with this “company” (after they eventually let me switch) and both were terrible. Both the cars I drove in didn’t look MOT passable and one actually broke down while I was on a lesson! It’s taken me a year to gain the confidence back to go with another instructor after ABLE making me terrified of them, I was always fine with family I’d never stall and my grandad who runs his own garage was very complimetive of my driving. Long story short ABLE is an absolute joke, they’ll rob you and make you never want to drive again. Rant over

Fantastic experience: Passed my test this morning at shieldhall test centre with only 1 minor. Eddie is a brilliant instructor!

Positive experience: Passed my Driving Test first time (Shieldhall area) 15 hour intensive course booked last March and passed at the end on May 2017. Instructor was very thorough and knew what he was talking about. He made sure I was ready for my test and was sure I would pass, which I did. My only criticism was that he was rather blunt and could be very abrupt when you were doing something wrong. I had to do a 6 hour lesson the day before my test and although it was tough mentally I think it's what helped me pass first time.

Fantastic experience: Having had several instructors over the years I can easily say Eddie is one of the best. Had an intensive course of lessons after not driving at all in years and passed no problem. Strongly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Despite contacting Able driving school at very short notice, they managed to fit in time for me, thank you. My driving Instructor was very competent, friendly and patient while explaining his instructions in a very effective way. He knew the area very well and in the short time managed to point out all the "danger zones". My test was in Shieldhall (Glasgow) and despite not knowing the are beforehand I passed first time (in said area). I really enjoyed the lessons and would strongly recommend ! Aaron

Negative experience: When i first contacted Able they got the instructor to phone within about a week from making first call. I explained i work shifts and will need to fit the lessons around my shifts! When i first started the lessons the guy seemed nice enough except he is extremely stressed and wants to shout your doing it wrong. I explained to him stop shouting. As i said first couple of lessons seemed okay. But when my shifts started interfering with the lessons i would txt him and it would take forever for him to txt/phone back. I felt he was too pushy towards the theory test . . Now towards the end of the lessons ( i thought i was still taken) i took unwell i ended up on 3 weeks worth of medication. I told him id need to cancel that weeks lesson but would contact him when feeling better. 3 weeks passed i txted him and phoned him I CANNOT GET A HOLD OF HIM HES WALKED AWAY WITH 2 AND A HALF WORTH OF BLOCKED LESSONS !!! AND YOU CAN PICK MALE OR FEMALE DRIVER INSTRUCTORS IT SAYS ON THE WEBSITE NO YOU CANNOT I ASKED FOR A FEMALE AND GOT LANDED WITH A MALE DRIVER!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE USELESS !!!!!

Negative experience: Able was recommended to me by a friend and, coincidentally, we were assigned the same instructor. The instructor was a nice enough guy but, professionally he was flaky, at best. He was not quick to reply to my texts and calls and the day before/morning of schedule lessons to reschedule or push them back. Not to mention, his car always smelled of cigarettes and wet dog! I took a break from the lessons and upon getting in touch to resume, the instructor was IMPOSSIBLE to reach. I wasn't expecting him to fit me into his rota immediately, but to simply respond with his availability. After several failed attempts to reach him via phone and text, I called the company. I had several exchanges with the proprietor, who told me he would work on 1.) getting a hold of the instructor (didn't work in the end), then 2.) getting me a new instructor. He kept saying he would find me a new instructor, but never made any attempts to. Instead, when I called for updates on the new instructor, he kept encouraging me to contact the original instructor. After weeks of this frustrating back and forth, I requested a refund which I was refused, owing to their "no refund on block booked lessons" policy. As this policy is only published on their website, I was unaware of it when I paid as I'd been given their number from my friend, so never saw their website! I am out over £100 in lessons that the company is refusing to provide. What is particularly disappointing is that I was made to feel like I was being a bother to the proprietor, instead of him taking my complaint seriously and working to resolve it quickly and courteously. Perhaps this type of customer service is acceptable to young, inexperienced drivers, but for an adult expecting professionalism, LOOK ELSEWHERE!
