Fantastic experience: John is a super friendly guy and has good patience. He doesn’t rush you when your not ready and lets you go at your own pace whilst encouraging you to push yourself further. Always on time and very flexible with wich days work best for the customer. Not a bad word to say about John it was a really pleasure and he helped me into passing my test first time

Fantastic experience: I started learning with John 3 months ago and hes been really great. Hes been super flexible and understanding when ive had last minute changes or messed up my times/dates, he always makes sure im comfortable, and doesnt force me to do things when im not ready, but without halting my progress, and is confident in what hes doing, and my abilities. I was super nervous going into it and John has really helped me grow my confidence, and has been understanding when ive messed up and freaked out. I will definitely be recommending. ⭐️

Fantastic experience: John is one of the kindest people I have ever had the fortune to meet. With tailored lessons to individual needs, a flexible schedule that fits whenever you are free, and an easy-going, carefree instructor that doesn't condemn mistakes, but works to correct them quickly and kindly, there is no reason as to why this driving school shouldn't be taken. If, for example, I felt worried about roundabouts, John would create a lesson that gave me experience on them, and would also show me how to safely and effectively navigate them. I could not recommend enough, and its been a pleasure to work with him.

Fantastic experience: Great teacher and very easy to get on with! Made me feel comfortable and confident whilst driving

Negative experience: Made me feel really uncomfortable every time I had to get into the car; I'd personally describe John as being awkwardly quiet and impatient - The slightest mistake such as stalling the car, would elicit a harsh reaction, and he often complained about the possibility of you messing up his car. The atmosphere wasn't relaxed in the slightest, and I hope you have a very specific political standpoint, as with my experience he would often complain about the government and pry about my own political stance, which I never discussed since he seems like he would get very easily agitated. I repeated the same routes and simple techniques every lesson, and didn't even have the opportunity to learn how to park even after being with him for months. Maybe you'd have a different experience with John, since all of the reviews seem very positive, but sadly my experience seems to be the complete opposite. Edit in response to the response I got: It's pretty arrogant to disregard my experience and to think that my email account is named the way it is to 'troll' a driving school; funnily enough I use this account for other things than to review this. My experience is completely true, and I even decided not to add other things that were said, which I'm sure you'd say didn't happen too. I don't know if you were having a bad few months or if something happened that made you in a not so great mood each lesson, but that is not my fault nor my problem. I took time to read the other reviews, and even added at the end of my review, giving you the benefit of the doubt, that all the other reviews seem genuinely positive and that another students would likely have a positive experience as they did. However, I did not. That is the truth and I have no reason to lie. I hope future students DO have a good experience like others have, but do not come at me and tell me my experience was completely fabricated.

Fantastic experience: Couldn't recommend higher. John is a really nice guy who tailors your lessons to you personally. It's the little things that make the difference with John from the handouts explaining manoeuvres to the in-depth dives into how to tackle tricky types of junctions. Overall John is just a great driving instructor and ive enjoyed every lesson with him

Fantastic experience: Great experience, makes you feel welcome at all time. It very approachable about any questions. He goes the extra mile (no pun intended) to help you develop as driver by providing detailed print outs about a range of things. The best way to describe what he does is, he doesn't teach you to pass the test. He teaches you to drive which is in the long term much better. He also keeps the car in tip top shape, constantly making sure it is safe. Recommend to anyone

Fantastic experience: John is a great driving instructor who has patience and a great personalty. this is what makes it very easy to get along with him because that is what you need from a driving instructor. to get along with them and for them to have the patience to teach you everything you need to know. so i recommend him because he has the patience to properly teach you what you need to know to pass your driving test like i have just done.

Fantastic experience: I cannot thank John enough for all the effort that he put into teaching me how to drive and it showed when I passed on my first attempt. As part of his teaching john provides hand outs which explain everything you need to know to drive safely. John is a genuine guy and is very pleasant and never raises his voice. Fantastic experience: John was a very patient and encouraging instructor and i would highly recommend him to anyone. He started from the very basics and taught me about how the engine works which was very useful. He was very flexible fitting in lessons around my school and work hours as well and was always reliable and on time. At times it took me a while to get the hang of things but he helped me learn at my own pace. We covered wide range of roads and driving situations and how to best deal with them, which gave me more confidence for my practical test. The lessons were also reasonable priced and he gives lots of additional worksheets and examples to help understand the theory side. I would definatly recommend John, Thanks!

Fantastic experience: Patient, understanding and encouraging with funny conversation. Would highly recommend John to anyone wanting to learn. We nicely ironed all the minors (apart from the 2 for speed I received on my test) and only when he thought I was ready, John advised I book my test. It's almost a shame that I passed (first time), I'm gonna miss Tuesday afternoons; but now I have the prospect of getting my own car thanks to John. JOHN HOWARD THANK YOU VERY MUCH INDEED!

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend John as a driving instructor, managed to pass first time as a result of our lessons and overall couldn't be happier. I started with no experience at all but now feel confident driving and well equipped to drive independently. In our lessons we drove to lots of different places rather than just staying on the same routes, this left me confident in my ability to drive anywhere. Thanks a lot John!

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend john to anyone who wants to learn to drive, he is a very patient and calm instructor and he shows you all the main roads plus takes you onto country roads so you learn how to drive on the more challenging winding roads. I had a few lessons with another instructor a year before I went with john and soon as I got in the car With john I felt at ease, I passed my test 2nd time and I'm sad to not be having lessons with him because he is a great instructor to learn with :) and enjoyed driving around with him highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Johns is a brilliant driving instructor, each of his lessons are beneficial and well planned. John was never late whilst i was learning and very flexible with picking up and dropping off too. First started driving in Nov/Dec and passed after a few months with only a couple of minors thanks to John. So easy to get on with and puts you at ease instantly. Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend John Howard to teach anyone to learn to drive regardless of age,He teaches you on all roads i.e. country,town and by-passes he puts you at ease with his calm manner and teaches you the correct way to drive on the roads and what to look out for I passed my test after 6 months of learning. Fantastic experience: im 42 and after years of been too nervous to learn , john put me so at ease and the nerves soon went, made the lesson fun as well such a fanstatic instrutor, and joint effort i passed first time with only 3 minors so thanks to john im driving yeah, would recommend john to anyone :-)))))))

Fantastic experience: I would not recommend anyone higher than John if you are looking for an instructor. I started with no knowledge or experience what so ever, however with Johns input I was made into a confident driver that passed first time. Every possible route and technique needed to pass my driving test was covered allowing me to feel confident when approaching the practical test. Also importantly for me John made it a very enjoyable experience to learn in a friendly yet focused environment, and was always willing to work around the times I needed, especially when I took a cancelation slot for the practical test a month or so before what we planned !

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend John Howard as a driving instructor. John has all of the skills and knowledge that you will require not only to pass your driving test but to also become a safe and confident driver. John will teach you about appropriate speeds for different types of roads, from town driving to country roads. John is a reliable and friendly person that was never late for any of my lessons! Just make sure that you don’t scratch his wheel alloys, god knows how many times I was told to watch the kerb. Overall if you’re looking for a reliable and reasonably priced driving instructor then John is your man!

John was my second instructor and quickly corrected all bad habits I had picked up from my first insructor, john is very friendly always has a big smile on his face and was very calm and patient when instructing me and was very encouraging on the days leading up to my test. Fantastic experience: Passed my test first time last week thanks to John after just 2 months of lessons. John was very flexible with trying to fit me in for lessons during the week covering every aspect needed to pass my test, from dreaded country roads to bypasses and hill junctions. He covered every possible route that you could be faced with on your test so you know exactly what is to come.First lesson of getting to know the basics is really helpful, covering gear changes and clutch control. Cheap prices for an excellent teacher. Highly recommended to new starters!

Fantastic experience: i passed my test 3rd time on monday instead of giving up, john kept me motivated that i could pass. he is a great instructor that helped me build my confidence and equip me with the tools that i needed not to just pass my test but for when i'm by myself on the roads. he never gave up on me he, always remained calm if i did something wrong. i recommend john to anyone who is looking to start driving.

Fantastic experience: Started driving lessons with John after doing tests with other instructors. Wish I hadn't of wasted my time and gone straight to Thwaites Driver Training in the first place! While doing my lessons I realised that John teaches you how to drive properly, not just what you need to get through a test (which I have found with previous instructors), and does this in a relaxed yet professional way. I recommend John to anybody that needs an instructor, as his passion for teaching will help anybody succeed.
