Fantastic experience: Had a great morning with the brilliant owners and instructor. Learned new driving skills while also having fun. Cannot praise them all enough - absolutely brilliant.

Fantastic experience: Just an amazing experience from start to finish. I took my mother and sister there for the day and we all loved every moment. All of us managed to perform the skill with expert tuition from an amazing man. I wasn’t expecting to see my 60+ year old mother doing power slides at the same time as my sister on a small skid pan. We all very much love the day out. Thank you Mike, Mick and Rick? Also they have a very sweet dog.

Fantastic experience: Excellent day of lessons. Instructor was very friendly and patient. Taught a great deal about electronic stability systems and car control. Drove rear wheel and front wheel cars. Overall had a blast, learned a lot and is worth it for any driver (to be honest this should be mandatory as part of any driving school courses). Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Looked small at first, don't be put off more that enough room for all techniques. using rear and front wheel drive cars with and without ABS/stability control. Braking/steering techniques especially useful, for that "what if" moment when the electronics gives up. Brilliant morning.

Fantastic experience: Had an absolutely brilliant day most certainly worth the trip staff were very friendly brilliant experience for anyone to do in a nice safe controlled environment I would even recommend newly passed drivers to give it ago it will really help with confidence and how to deal with situations if you encounter them and the drifting was just an added bonus all in all was a great day out :)

Fantastic experience: Don't often bother to do a review, so this must be special!! Went with a group of 10 for a morning. Found this very well run, and very worthwhile. Came away with valuable understanding, and good experience, of how to handle a car in a skid, but also, and unexpectedly, feeling much more in tune with my car, and more in control. Would recommend to everybody. Good value too.

Fantastic experience: I had an absolutely fantastic time, worth every penny. Instructor was very experienced! Spent two hours learning how to control a car in a skid and then learning how to drift. Managed to learn the basics but still have a long way to go. I cant wait to return for more!

Fantastic experience: Mick and Mike are very friendly and hospitable instructors but also professional and knowledgeable. Would recommend for new drivers and experienced. Their selection of old cars with nearly bald tyres surrounded by hay bales is a entertainment on its own even if you are not driving.

Fantastic experience: I went for a 2 hours experience with a friend of mine and Mike was the only one as Mick had family issues. We had a fantastic time and i want to bring my young driver here as well as do another course myself. We got plenty of time in the cars both rear and front wheel drive, with and without ABS and were left to both do drifting on the site by ourselves for at least 30 mins. Great fun and great value for money. Highly recommended

Fantastic experience: I attended on the 12th June and I have to say it was fantastic. Mick and Mike were very friendly and cracked many jokes through out really putting us at ease. I was nervous as I've never been on a skidpan before but it was the most fun I've had in ages and as a plus it's really helped my driving skills. If you've never done it before I recommend giving it a try. If you've been on a skidpan before give these guys a shout and enjoy the banter and a fun day out.

Fantastic experience: Went for a session with my brother and aunt to get some experience in dealing with skidding as this was something we weren't used to dealing with. Mick and Mike were both very friendly, Mick stayed with my grandparents (who had come to watch) and explained what we were doing with them while Mike went round in the car with us. We got to experience rear, front and all wheel skids and how to get out of each of them safely. Afterwards we got to try out drifting in the BMWs, my brother enjoyed this a lot and will hopefully be going back to try drifting again! I would definitely recommend this for new drivers and experienced drivers!

Fantastic experience: I would thoroughly recommend Essex Skid Pan to any driver of any age. I took my 17 year old daughter here as a Christmas present and took the opportunity for a refresher myself (having been previously maybe 10 years ago). Definitely a very worthwhile investment of time and money. As well as being very friendly and welcoming Mick and Mike are real experts in their field. This is stuff that all drivers should know and you just can't learn it on your own. We learnt how skids happen in both front and rear wheel drive vehicles as well as how to deal with them both with and without the modern electronic aids of stability control etc. Apart from the value in the learning, it was a really fun way to spend an hour or two and even worth putting up with my daughter telling everybody she did better than me - which of course she didn't ;-)

Fantastic experience: I arranged my husband's surprise birthday here last week. A group of friends and family spent the afternoon on the skid pan. Everyone had a great time, it was a huge success. My husband loved it. The staff are professional, helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this for everyone - anyone with a driving licence! Thank you Mike, Mick and staff.

Spent an educational and hugely entertaining afternoon in the company of three professional and friendly expert driver-trainers who explained and demonstrated the life-saving principles of car control. This is proper 'greasy-surface' environment, more reflective of the real-world than cradle-suspended vehicles. Best fun you can have with the in-laws watching...

Fantastic experience: I was bought this experience for my birthday and it was fantastic. I was greeted by Mick and Mike, the two owners, who have years of professional driving experience from both the military and the police force. They clearly know their stuff. The advice they gave made perfect sense and was delivered clearly. They began with the basic principles of electronic stability programs and what they do. Mick took me out in the cars and he turned the ESP on/off to demonstrate exactly what it does. It was really useful to day-to-day driving and what to do in an emergency I had the whole skid pan to myself and drove both front wheel drive (Ford) and rear wheel drive (BMW) cars. After the initial demonstrations, I spent plenty of time in the driving seat and around half and hour practicing the art of control and “drifting” around the cones. If the track had too much grip they oiled it up and it made it really challenging to drive. One thing I liked about the set up here was the fact the car wasn’t on a rig/frame. It means you can drive the car to the edge and lose it in a skid which seems more realistic. All in all this was an excellent experience

Fantastic experience: I visited Essex Skid Pan last Saturday (27th May). I would just like to say that these guys are awesome! Their tuition and knowledge is absolutely incredible and their attention to detail (regarding your driving) is outstanding! These guys know their stuff! I would highly recommend any driver (especially new ones!) to visit these guys, what they will teach you could potentially save your life!

Fantastic experience: Excellent session, and heaps of fun! The guys who do it are ex-Police, and really know their stuff. They put you into different vehicles so you can feel the difference between front wheel and rear wheel drive on all the skids, and you're not on a 'spider' frame, so you get a proper skid, not a simulation. Highly recommended - didn't want the afternoon to end!

Fantastic experience: Having been a driver for over 25 yrs - I've always wanted to do this - learnt some very valuable life skills today and would recommend to any driver - the younger the better - don't wait till your in a potential disaster situation to figure it out - get trained first - your driving career is a long one so be prepared- it may happen to you one day - the trainers are excellent and friendly - highly recommended to all drivers
