Fantastic experience: Very happy with my son’s driving course. He had previously been learning to drive manual but wanted to change to auto. Great communication from Doug, we had trouble getting a test like the rest of the country but Doug managed to get a test and even cut his Christmas holiday short to be available for him, and he passed with just one minor.

Fantastic experience: I honestly cannot recommend Doug enough! After 13 years of learning to drive on and off and losing my confidence with different instructors I nearly gave up but with Dougs incredible teaching skills and patience I past my test first time and with no minors! Not only have I passed but Doug has given me so much confidence which is something I never thought was possible! If you feel like giving up then please don’t and give Doug a call, I promise you won’t regret it! Fantastic experience: Doug got me ready to pass first time. He’s amazing. Not only was I older when I started to learn how to drive I also became pregnant so I was a very nervous driver! BUT doing a weeks intensive course with Doug made me a calm cool and confident. At 8 months pregnant I passed first time and that was all down to Doug! Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: After finding it impossible to get my head around gears, I decided to go for an Automatic Licence. Fantastic experience: After deciding it was time to learn how to drive at 42, I did a lot of research and came across Doug who came highly recommend by other learners and I can see why! Doug is patient, friendly and knowledgeable and I felt at ease straight away despite never having any driving experience before. I decided to go down the route of an intensive course as I didn’t have the time to dedicate to hourly lessons and I’m so pleased I did although it can be tiring the amount you can learn in such a short amount of time is amazing and is an absolute credit to Doug’s teaching. At times I struggled to pick up certain things (roundabouts were my nemesis) Doug helped me through and I delighted to say that I passed first time! Fantastic experience: I'm one of those nightmare learner drivers. I've literally been trying to pass a driving test for over 30 years on and off. Well, Doug finally got me there! My seventh driving instructor and the best. There is a reason why Doug gets 5 star reviews - it is because he's great at his job. I hadn't driven for many years before going to Doug, and the structure of the course is ideal if you need to make progress quickly. I would say that Doug is firstly not intimidating in any way and secondly he thinks about how to help the individual learner. Fantastic experience: Doug is an absolutely fantastic instructor. I completed an assessment hour and then was recommended just a 5 hour intensive lesson before my test. I was confident in the car but I didn’t know the rules to past the test. I passed first time with Doug’s excellent guidance and practical advice. At no point did I feel like his instructions were confusing or complicated. I would highly recommend Doug for anyone that needs to pass asap.

Fantastic experience: I went for the 4 Day Intensive Driving course with Doug and I passed the first time with zero minors. (Yay!) The course can be quite intense (6 hours of learning per day) and Doug chopped them into manageable bite size lessons. He tailored his teaching method to suit my visual learning style by showing me diagrams, and when I made mistakes, he would calmly explain what I should have done and would draw them out on a notepad so that I understood and learnt from it. During the course, Doug shared fail-proof tips & steps on maneuvering and parking safely. He also made sure we covered possible routes of independent driving. We went through my problematic areas as many times as needed until I was confident behind the wheel. We also went through all the possible “Tell me Show me” questions and how to answer them clearly and accurately. As well as being a great driving instructor, as a person Doug is personable & engaging which makes the long driving lessons more pleasant. If you are looking for intensive driving course, I highly recommend Doug. Completing his course has not only made me passed the first time with zero minors, I am now a much more confident driver.

Doug is a very thoughtful and considerate instructor. He understands the challenges people face (especially mature/older people) in learning to drive. Fantastic experience: Doug took me on when I decided to change from manual learning to automatic, after a chaotic covid-disrupted start to my driving learning. We did an intensive course in the summer which was fantastic. Very calm and taught me a lot of things my previous instructor hadn't - and gave me new ways to think about things. He's also patient, good humoured and a nice person to spend a week driving around with! He's also been great at working around the frustrating situation with the driving test backlog, helping to secure another test date for me when I failed my first (totally my own stupid fault, not a reflection on his teaching!). It was a few months after finishing the course, and he was extremely flexible and available for a refresher lesson before my test date. Was really happy to pass, and massive thanks to Doug for giving me the confidence and skills to do it.

Fantastic experience: I’m not sure I can put into words how grateful I am to have come across Doug. I was a very nervous driver and full of self doubt. Having wanted to drive for over 2 decades but being too afraid I decided an intensive course was the best way forward for me and I booked with Doug. Fantastic experience: FROM TOTAL NOVICE TO FIRST-TIME PASS - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I knew nothing about cars when I started my lessons. I had barely even ridden in a car as a passenger during the past 3 decades, so the whole thing started off feeling very alien to me indeed. Doug was patient, took me step by step and built up my confidence and experience from day one. It took 6 months of 1 x 2-hour lesson/week (about 45 hours of lessons - which is considered the average most people need) to get to my test date and I passed first time thanks to Doug's expert tuition and knowledge. His Kia Picanto automatic is the perfect car to learn in. I am so glad I chose to go for an automatic licence and to learn with Doug at Brighton Automatic Driving School.

Fantastic experience: I passed my test first time this morning, thanks to Doug's thorough instruction. Heading in to the test I felt as prepared as it's possible to be. We'd covered every question, every manoeuvre, and all the tricky parts of our test area, so taking the test felt no more difficult than a regular lesson (even with a bucketing downpour). I take a lot of practice before something truly sinks in, and Doug was unfailingly patient, adjusting his guidance when necessary to help me take something in. All in all, can't have wished for a better instructor. Thanks Doug!

Fantastic experience: Very easy to book lessons with Doug, good communication and easy to get hold of aswell. His teaching style is very good as he takes it step by step and shows you how to do things himself then let’s you try it. He’s very calm and always helps you out on the roads. When I went to my test I felt very prepared and knew I was in a very good place for the test and was very confident in my abilities to drive. Fantastic experience: Doug is an excellent tutor who took me from having never had any lessons or practice in a car before, to passing my test. The lessons are very well thought out and offer a clear, precise and well paced method of learning how to drive. Fantastic experience: I was very unsure wether I would ever pass my driving test as I have previously failed my Test 5 times, I was always a nervous wreck!. However I found doug! I took his intense course and I couldn’t recommend him more, the way he taught me everything was fab he was also calm and clear with everything he taught me. I used to hate driving and feel really anxious about it but I ended up really enjoying the course and gaining confidence each day. I liked Doug’s teaching style because he gave me praise when I did things well and focused on correcting my mistakes to the point where I would not make the same mistake again. I felt relaxed learning with Doug but he made me very much aware of anything I did that was potentially unsafe. I highly recommend doing an intensive course as it’s a very effective and efficient way to learn. Doug’s course is very good value and it certainly exceeded my expectations.

Fantastic experience: I had tried manual driving a few times and failed a couple of tests. These made me hate driving however I made the decision to try automatic and engage in an intensive driving week. The week is truly intensive but also great if you dedicate yourself to the teaching given by Doug. He is a great instructor who pushes you and helps you learn how to feel comfortable and in control of the car. I passed the test at the end of the week with a perfect score of no faults. Doug’s way of teaching was a major factor in this result and I highly recommend his course to anybody looking to become a qualified driver.

Fantastic experience: Yesterday I passed my driving test with Brighton Automatic Driving School, and I couldn’t rate them highly enough. Doug is an excellent instructor, with a solid knowledge of driving. He makes driving super simple to understand, making sure safety is top priority. Having taken lessons with previous instructors I never felt prepared or confident about the test. But Doug’s style is to keep it simple, keep it safe and make sure you feel comfortable with your driving. Any weaknesses or fears you have with your driving can be easily communicated with Doug, he is then more than happy to help hone your skills and iron out any kinks. Having passed my first test with Doug as my instructor, I would certainly recommend him to everyone!!

Fantastic experience: Doug is a fantastic driving instructor and I cannot rate him highly enough! I came to Doug after having lessons with two other instructors who I hadn’t got on with. I was an anxious driver and beginning to think I’d never be able to drive . Doug was calm, clear, patient and supportive and charted my progress so that I knew where I was at with my learning and the areas I needed to work on. Having previously dreaded learning to drive, I suddenly found myself enjoying my lessons and my fears and anxieties subsiding. I passed my test first time and I’m so grateful to Doug for getting me to this point.

Fantastic experience: Doug was always calm and patient with a very nervous 'mature' pupil. He didn't mollycoddle or indulge me, but any criticism was always measured, informative and useful. He tries hard to understand where issues come from so they can be resolved, and was always understanding at the most challenging moments. Although I'm a slow learner, Doug remained patient throughout and was able to explain things clearly and in different ways (i.e. visuals), so that I could better understand and learn practical driving skills.
