Fantastic experience: When looking for a driving instructor, I needed someone who could be flexible with lesson times to accommodate my work schedule. Additionally, I wanted an instructor who struck a balance between firmness and building a positive relationship. It was important to me that they were willing to review previous lessons to ensure my understanding and continuous improvement. Learning to drive initially felt stressful, but after the first two lessons, it became much less daunting. Although I encountered challenges, my patient instructor guided me through each one, helping me build confidence along the way. When evaluating my driving instructor’s teaching methods, I found them effective due to a combination of coaching techniques and practical demonstrations. My instructor used a coaching approach, which empowered me to become my own teacher. Instead of just giving instructions, my instructor had stickers placed at strategic points inside the car. These visual cues reminded me of key steps during maneuvers. There were other visual aids to help as well. These teaching methods enhanced my confidence and skills. I highly recommend this driving school to anyone, regardless of their abilities or needs. Adam, my instructor, helped me reach the level of skill necessary for confident driving within the right timeframe for my test. Thanks to his guidance, I passed my test on the first attempt. His guidance made my driving journey enjoyable, and I’m grateful for the diverse road experiences we had, including those scenic country roads. . The relaxed conversations during lessons eased any anxiety, striking a balance between humor and seriousness.

Fantastic experience: After struggling in a manual car, I decided to change to automatic lessons with independent driving school. I had my lessons with Hamish who is a great instructor. He gave me little tips and pointers to navigate trickier scenarios like roundabouts, talked me through my mistakes and consistently gave me positive affirmation when I drove well. Fantastic experience: When choosing a driving instructor i needed someone to be firm when teaching and to make sure i understood the information i was being taught before i would move on, i also was looking for someone who wouldn’t mind going back on stuff i didn’t understand or forgot when i have already been taught it. Learning to drive was a lot less stressful than i had expected after i had gotten over the fear of being on the roads, my instructors teaching methods enhanced this confidence as he would never touch the controls on the car unless really needed and would rely more on my skills. I would 100% recommend this driving school because they got me to the level of ability that i needed in the right amount of time before my test. Fantastic experience: Karen has taught all three of my girls. They are safe and confident drivers thanks to her teaching. Karen has a lovely manner with the girls which installs faith in the skills she has taught them so well. We have all been so happy with the service Karen has provided. The girls have the knowledge and skill to be independent drivers. I would highly recommend Karen to any new learners.

Fantastic experience: Despite driving a high price, my instructor, Jason allowed me to pass first time with only 20 hours of driving lessons. From clutch control in a quiet residential area to Poole’s complicated roundabouts, Jason knew what I was capable of before I did. He was always friendly and able to explain difficult manoeuvres, including some through the Starbucks drive-thru. Thank you independent driving!

Fantastic experience: Before I started driving I decided I wanted to go for automatic. To that end, I reached out to Hamish at Independent Driving School. Despite my nerves and lack of confidence, Hamish kept me calm and made sure I was comfortable, did an excellent job of breaking down what was coming up, and knew exactly how best to address any concerns I had. He also made sure that if there was anything I wasn't sure about, he would guide me through it and give me ample time to get comfortable before proceeding! Thanks to Hamish's help and guidance I passed my driving test first try. I'd highly recommend him as a driving instructor!

From the get go Adam was very patient, easy to get along with and had faith in me as a driver, which gave me such a confidence boost. I knew straight away, I found the right instructor for me. Over the months we formed such a good relationship which made lessons relaxed. Very professional instructor who provided me with extra resources to take away from lessons like video clips etc which is suitable for more visual learners. He is firm when he needs to be but never failed to make it light hearted through his great sense of humour or regular trip to Greggs lol. I knew he just wanted to get the best out of me during every lesson. I am happy to say that I passed first time with only 2 minors yesterday and that’s all down to Adam. Do not have a bad word to say! Thank you so much!

Fantastic experience: I am so happy I found Independent Driving School because they were amazing, I live in London and was doing my test in Poole due to circumstances and after being turned away from a couple of other schools due to my distance and the fact I was doing automatic lessons instead of manual I thought it was hopeless, until I found them. Immediately they put me in touch with my instructor Hamish who was 10/10 amazing, very knowledgeable, kind and just a genuinely a nice person he made me feel at ease the first time I met him. I had a total of 7 long lessons usually 2/3 hours at a time which helped me iron out all my habits and get over my fear of roundabouts he also accomodated my timings including me travelling down to Poole and kept me updated constantly. On the day of my test I was nervous and Hamish did everything he could to make me feel calm and confident which ultimately helped me pass with only 3 minors. Fantastic experience: I have just passed my test (07/11/2023 with Jason and wouldn't want any other instructor to help me prepare and execute my test. Jason is extremely patient, answered every question (probably the same questions multiple times) and has attention to detail in every part of teaching you to drive. Fantastic experience: I didn’t think I’d be able to get back into driving after a 10 year break, but Hamish proved me wrong. Fantastic experience: Learning to drive is a difficult thing to do and takes a lot of work however my instructor Adam was brilliant because he taught me very well including really useful details about the test and potential test routes which really reassured me. Not only this, but when my morale was low he was able to lift the mood and encourage but he could also give it to me straight when I needed to hear it, to help push me.

Fantastic experience: I passed my test first time thanks to independent driving! From the very first minute of my first lesson Adam made me feel very comfortable while learning to drive. He took me round all the test route roads and main points so when test day came, I knew exactly what to do and what to expect. Fantastic experience: Huge thanks to Neil and Independent Driving School for helping me pass! Although I had driven in the US for 43 years and the UK off and on for 25 on my US licence as a visitor, I was still worried about obtaining my UK licence when I moved here permanently. Because of my old US driving habits, I failed my first UK practical test. I was frustrated, stressed out, and nervous about retesting for the 6 months until my retest date. I decided I needed to book driving lessons at the grand age if 59! A family friend recommended Neil of Independent Driving School. Unlearning old habits and looking at driving in a completely different way was one of the most difficult things I have done in a LONG time. However, Neil was patient, helpful, and encouraging throughout our lessons. I am proud to say I passed my retest with just 1 minor fault, and I am a safer driver today than I ever was! I thank Neil from Independent Driving for all the help.

Fantastic experience: I had lessons with Karen and honestly could not recommend her enough! I have failed previously so had a lot of confidence issues which Karen helped me over-come. She is very patient and recognises what style of learning works for you and adapts her teaching to fit. She is calm, approachable and puts you at ease the second you get in the car. She uses visual aids to help better understand techniques and does an evaluation at the end of each lesson which recognises your strengths and areas to improve next time, which ensures lessons are productive and efficient. Again, could not recommend enough!

Fantastic experience: I passed my test on 11/07/22 with my instructor Adam Parker. He helped me feel more confident in myself and my driving. The lessons itself were relaxed and well structured, which helped me track where I was with my progress. Adam was able to explain everything clearly to me and made specific theory based knowledge easily memorable. I believe I would not have passed my first time without Adam’s help. Fantastic experience: I chose independent driving school because my sister passed first time with Martin. Martin is very charismatic and you never have a dull moment with him. In addition, he is also very patient, helpful and a great instructor and I also passed first time.

Fantastic experience: i chose independent driving because my brother had great results on his driving test by martin who also got a first time pass. martin helped me a lot with understanding humour and driving especially, i highly recommend martin for his humour and great skills in driving.

Fantastic experience: My teacher Martin was a great teacher, he explained things methodically and accurately. Each procedure i learnt with him was taught efficiently but was explained well so I understood things first time. No lesson was ever missed so you can count on this school to have regular lessons allowing you to pass your test in the fastest time possible and passing first time

Negative experience: Very poor experience, let down a few weeks before my test which was pre-booked, didn’t have the opportunity to rebook due to short notice. This cost me £60 with no ability to get a new instructor without a 12 week wait. Military style instructor who often raised his voice when I was driving. Was not a comfortable environment. Wouldn’t recommend if you are looking for a patient instructor.

After previous bad experiences with other instructors I was really nervous however Hamish was very calm and always relaxed which really helped me with my driving, everything was always explained before we did anything so that I was as confident as possible. Fantastic experience: I was, at first, very nervous to drive. It had been a major cause of anxiety previously, Neil helped massively with my confidence, always staying calm and helping me whenever I asked, all while accommodating to my school schedule as best he could. I always felt safe and comfortable during my lessons, I honestly couldn’t recommend a better instructor than him, and independent driving as an extension. Fantastic experience: I have recently passed my test with Hamish from Independent Driving, at the end of 2020 I never would of thought I'd be driving, Let alone pass my test. Hamish really understood my anxieties and helped me over come my fear, I looked forward to every lesson because we would have a laugh which made me relax and enjoy it more. I owe my pass to Hamish, He's an amazing Instructor and I would recommend him to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Passing my test first time with Martin was such an amazing feeling. I was recommended him by my sister who also passed with him and I couldn’t recommend him enough. He made me feel at ease in the car and throughly helped me through every stage of driving while still allowing me to develop and practise my skills independently. Although I was nervous to start driving at first, Martin helped to build up my confidence. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I had Neil from Independent driving as my instructor. He was great and always very calm and patient with me on all my lessons. My driving progressed massively from the start, all down to the knowledge and help Neil gave me with explanations and diagrams. Fantastic experience: I had different other instructors due to moving areas or instructors not working out, I moved over to Dorset. I found a driving programme that where really bad and had my first test with them over a year of waiting due to the first covid attack. So I looked in the local area for a proper Driving School. This is when I came across Independent Driving School and met Hamish the automatic driving instructor, who worked for them. He managed to fit me into his busy schedule and we had a few lessons to get to know each other. I had booked my second test, but due to my personnel car being involved in an RTC by a family member. I had to cancelle the test and took a few weeks break. Then I had booked another test a few months down the line and Hamish was happy to pick me back up. This is where he improved my parking into bays, dual carriage way driving and all types of town driving, where I was shown to struggle on. I can confirm thanks to Hamish I have passed my second test, which I doubt I could of done with out his tricks and techniques to over come any problems. My understanding of the show me tell me questions had improved and I learned more rules of the road for instance, lane merging and public crossing stopping. To finish this off I say thank you Amish for getting me through my day of stress. .

Fantastic experience: Converting my international driving permit to a full UK license required me to pass the UK driving test. This presented a challenge and I was unfamiliar with aspects of UK driving. I emailed Hamish of Independent Driving for help in passing my test. He immediately got back, arranged a test drive and offered me a structured program that would see me pass my test. After several really enjoyable, constructive and informative lessons I was prepared and my expectations of the test were set. Fantastic experience: I found out about Independent Driving School when I had conversation with one or their instructors at a fuel station. They were so lovely and I knew straight away, they were my driving school. I was then introduced to Chrissy. I had a great experience learning to drive. Chrissy is a fantastic instructor and made me feel super comfortable (with lots of laughs and jokes in-between), especially being nervous about driving in the place. I'm a whole different person compared to my first lesson to now. Being told I passed after having the nerves get to me and failing a couple times, was fantastic. I had to pinch myself. I just wanted to make Chrissy proud and show that no matter how much driving scares you, with the right instructor you can do it! I would definitely recommend Independent Driving School to anyone of any age. I'd also recommend starting with their under 17s training and not wait until you're 25 to start learning like me haha.

Fantastic experience: I passed my test today with my brilliant instructor Adam. Adam was so patient with me through the whole process, and made each and every lesson fun and interactive, as well as ensuring I was test ready. Adam is very knowledgeable and definitely knows his stuff, even when I had set backs, he still encouraged me and made me confident on the roads. I wouldn’t have done it without Adam and can’t recommend independent driving enough. Thankyou so much!!

Fantastic experience: I found out about independent driving, And in particular Chrissy Hudson as she taught my sister, who said she had a really good experience with the company and Chrissy. Chrissy was so calm, encouraging and ensured she explained everything in a way I would understand. I’m not really a theory leaner I’m more a hands on learner and Chrissy was able to adapt the lessons to my way of learning for example she would explain the basics and the safety behind something and we were able to go and practice it straight away. She ensured she picked up on every little detail that I need to improve on to ensure that I would pass first time. Even learning throughout covid and lessons being on and off and test being cancelled and rescheduled I still managed to pass first time with 0 faults! Would 100% recommend to anyone wanting to learn to drive and passing first time Thank you again Chrissy

Fantastic experience: Independent Driving were the only company who could fit me in. I had already booked my test and needed a few lessons to get me ready.I failed my test 3 times a few years ago in Torquay. I didn't think I would ever pass but decided to try again in Bournemouth. Adam is an excellent instructor he is very informative, he put me at ease and built my confidence up. I have now passed my test thank you so much Adam
