1st Class Driving School

Negative experience: Find another driving school. I booked a bulk of ten lessons in March - I received half of them. There has been no response to my calls or emails since Easter. After going directly to the office itself, a neighbouring shop owner said that no one had been working in the office since Easter and they believed that the driving school was “gone”.

Negative experience: My son booked and paid for 10 driving lessons in February and has not received a single lesson. When we finally managed to speak someone, this took 10 days of emails, voicemail messages, social media posts, before we got a response, and the receptionist told me the instructor was no longer available at the times my son required. We put a request in writing as instructed for a refund. Following up on my email a further week later, the receptionist again confirmed the instructor couldn’t fulfil the lessons and assured me my emails would be sent to the owner. The owner contacted me on the 14th March asking for my telephone number which I provided and I haven’t received a single call and no sign of our refund of £340. I am not the only one in this situation with 1st Class Driving School, it didn’t take long to find others via social media posts. Please do not part with any money or book lessons with this company. Zero stars if I had the option.

Negative experience: Instructor Ana abandoned me a week before my driving test for no reason. Avoid this school for any cost and look for a professional and reliable instructor; you should feel progress and confidence in each lesson. This school has none of this.

Negative experience: Shocking place. Husband pre booked and paid for 3 lessons. The instructor never turned up and never heard back from anyone since despite numerous voicemails and emails left. Husband got through one time finally who tried to call the instructor and couldn't get rheough allegedly, but then never even bothered to call him back! Absolutely disgusting service. Not even the decency of a call back or explanation. Happy to keep our money though! Will be going to the ombudsman. Steer clear with a barge pole!

Positive experience: I have mixed feelings about this school. My instructor Ed was amazing!! He was always on time, well prepared and super friendly. He is simply the super star of driving instructors. 6 stars out of 5! I felt like I was spending time with a good friend, who telling me how to drive, with no pressure at all. I passed my test with 2 minors in Morden.I would definitely recommend him as a driving instructor to all my friends. However, the customer service of school has a lot of room for improvement. They made a few mistakes with my payment transactions and never sent me the schedule of my lesson. I had to call them to check and book next sessions (it is not a big deal, but a bit "old fashioned").

Negative experience: I had a Horrible experience with Bino!! He was my driving instructor and 5days to my driving test, he sent me a text that he could no longer take me for my last class and his car will not be available for me on the day of the test. I called the driving school to let them know and all they said was ‘we will speak to the manager’ and no one contacted me to book me with another driver who I could use their car on the day of test. I was just left stranded, I called them again and all what the receptionist said to me was ‘sorry’, they didn’t even take responsibility or try to fix the problem. I ended up cancelling my driving test last minute and up until now I haven’t been able to book another test (you all know how difficult it is finding a test date on the site). I have never been this disappointed, all I can say is this driving school is so Disorganised and unprofessional and if you get into any trouble they will not be there to help in anyway! No accountability of the Drivers. They just do what they like and get away with it. Even if you decide to ignore the red flags… Just pray you don’t get Bino for a driving instructor! You don’t want someone who will abandon you just few days to your test with no empathy or sympathy shown. If I could rate them a zero star I would. Never seen a driving school so unprofessional and unhelpful.

Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test first time round with no minors! Ed was always on time - if not early. He was always cheerful and full of bad jokes! He made learning to drive fun, explained the concepts very well and put me at ease.

Negative experience: Ana is not a good instructor. She is unprofessional and constantly makes you nervous when you are driving. She makes unnecessary conversations while you are driving which makes you distracted. She does not have any teaching skills. You lose confidence while you are learning with her. I took many lessons with her but I didn’t see any improvement. It was waste of my time and money. I would not recommend anyone to take any lessons with her.

Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test on the first attempt with zero faults, thanks to Alain’s brilliant lessons. He always had a lesson plan but also took into account what I wanted to cover and he knew exactly where to drive to ensure I gained experience in a wide variety of situations. Not only did I get my licence but I also feel confident and comfortable behind the wheel. The lessons proved invaluable and Alain was a great companion to have in the car.

Fantastic experience: Alain is a great instructor. Very patient and encouraging and makes sure to explain things clearly. Would recommend him to anybody. After having 2 previous instructors I was able to pass my test with Alain first time with only 4 minors!

Fantastic experience: Ed from First Class is a fantastic instructor who I'd recommend to anyone driving an automatic. He makes you feel comfortable, always lets you know what you did well and what could be improved on. He is very clear with his instructions, and to top it off he is good for a laugh! He was always early for lessons, and I passed first time! Ed, thank you for making this easier on me. I wouldn't want any other instructor!

Fantastic experience: Ana Congil I did automatic lessons with Ed and passed my driving test in first time today (31/01/22 ). Ed is an excellent instructor, firm, calm and hard working in teaching but at the same time thoughtful and fun. I learned a lot from him and would recommend him to all new automatic drivers. Thanks Ed and 1st class driving school.

Fantastic experience: I passed with Percilla. She was a lovely instructor, who goes above and beyond to help you learn. Not only would she be excellent in the lesson but she would sent me useful videos to watch at home as well. She really helped build my confidence, and got me up to test standard very quickly. I have literally recommended her to all of my friends and family. I have now passed my test and look forward to doing some motorway lessons with her !

Fantastic experience: I was with a previous instructor for 30 hours and I felt I wasn’t progressing as quickly as I should have been, I got in contact with 1st class and was recommended an instructor within my area and had a lesson booked the same day. The instructor I was put in contact with was Percilla, I have to say with only 10 hours of lessons with her I can truly say that I saw a massive improvement, she was attentive and due to this she picked up on small mistakes that I had been taught previously, every lesson we worked harder and harder on my weaknesses until I felt I was confident in my ability to drive. I would honestly recommend her to anyone who is learning to drive, if you are looking for someone attentive, funny, lenient, compassionate or someone who makes you feel the pressure without adding pressure, then she’s the one for you. Glad to say I passed 1st time, so this company proudly earned its name.

Fantastic experience: Ed was born to be a driving instructor. He is so good at it. He makes you feel at ease and comfortable when driving. He will not stop until you get the maneuvre correctly. His main goal is for his pupils to drive safely and pass their test. Thank you so much Ed for believing in me.

Fantastic experience: Steve is an excellent driving instructor. He helped me very much because he gave me exactly that advices which I needed to pass my test, and he showed how to do all the manoeuvres and where I will have to do them. Thank you Steve for everything you did for me.

Fantastic experience: Ed has been my instructor for over a year, we had a few lessons before covid and was off to a good start. Lockdown happened (several times) and really disrupted my progress. My test was nearing and I managed to book some lessons with Ed to boost my confidence. It worked greatly! Ed makes you feel super chill and is a good person to have by your side. Always on time, and a pretty funny geezer too. Without Ed as my instructor I would not of passed first time! Thank you

Fantastic experience: Would just like to say thanks to Ed for being a fantastic driving instructor and helping me pass my auto driving test today. He is a fantastic teacher with tonnes of patience. He has a great personality and makes a scary experience fun. Ed was the second instructor I've used as I didn't click with my first one. Ed gave me the confidence to keep going. I lacked confidence but he got be there. Been especially difficult time with all these lockdowns. I'd highly recommend Ed to anyone, he's a 1st class diamond. Thank you Ed we done it, team effort.

Fantastic experience: Al is a very experienced and professional driving instructor. He was very friendly, supportive, patient and motivating. Al listened and understood my concerns and fears about driving and helped me overcome them. He always provided me with feedback and discussed my driving faults. His lessons were straight to the point. Al helped me become confident and efficient in planning ahead. He let me practice in a variety of different areas. Al always asked what I wanted to practice at the beginning of each lesson. His teaching methods helped me become a safe driver. I am very grateful to have had such a good driving instructor and I would strongly recommend him to future learners.

Fantastic experience: I just passed my driving test at first attempt with only 3 minors!! This would have been unbelievable to me a year ago as I had been scared of driving,lacking self confidence. Thanks so much to Ed for teaching me everything, focusing on improving my weaknesses, bearing with me, and having a great chat as well. Fantastic experience: I'm giving 5 stars because of the instructor (Mike) I started have driving lessons with Mike about one month ago. He helped me get ready for my practical test. On the first day of lesson he asked me to drive for a few minutes. And then he gave his feedback about my driving experience and he asked me how lessons I would like to book. We agreed with numbers of lessons that I need for get ready for the test. Mike he is very calm, he helped me a lot with my driving. In every lesson we worked in different points of my driving. Which at the end of the days worked very well. And today I am a qualified driver. Thank you very much instructor Mike.

Fantastic experience: 1stClassDriving were very good and I highly recommend using them. So simple and easy to deal with. Whilst I can't speak for all the instructors, I can with John. He took me from my very first time behind the wheel, to passing with 3 minors. Such a lovely person, a great teacher and a very calming influence in those early and more nervous stages. Never a dull chat as well, which is a nice bonus. Very pleasing to hear that he also does Pass Plus. Cheers John!

Fantastic experience: SteveB is a brilliant instructor who makes you feel relaxed from the very first lesson. He doesn’t berate you for making mistakes and listens to everything you have to say and ask. His teaching method isn’t just catered to passing the practical test it also makes you feel confident and ready to drive on your own. Coupled with the fact that he’s very easy to get along with, I would definitely, wholeheartedly recommend SteveB as a driving instructor. Can’t thank him enough for helping me pass first time.

Fantastic experience: I had only 5 lessons with mary and passed first time. She is absolutely brilliant. Her punctuality is very good. She will teach you how to drive but most importantly she will show you how to be safe on the road and that is the most important aspect. I would recommend Mary to anyone who wants to get driving lessons.

Fantastic experience: Jason is an Exccelent instructor always happy to answer questions no matter how dumb they are and always willing to give quality advice on improving technique. Never once got fed up with my constant stalling and horrible road position but with time and practice nailed it in the end :). 5/5

He also has an incredible memory for details of your previous drives and tests, helping to remind you where you need to improve. Fantastic experience: Great driving school. I had Jason for manual driving lessons and he is brilliant. From the first driving lesson he totally got me and knew what I needed to do in order to get me to the stage to prepare for my practical test. He made me feel at ease behind the wheel and knew the best approaches and ways to teach me how to drive. Very patient and understanding and got me through every time I had a tizzy and made a mistake by being very practical and reassuring. Also by having a laugh to lighten the mood when I was very nervous. Very positive driving instructor and couldn’t recommend him enough!

Fantastic experience: To be honest I just looked for driving instructors in Bexleyheath and these guys came up. Very thankful they did and they have very good prices. I think first 4 lessons were £60. I had a great instructor Henry and would happily recommend both Henry and 1st Class Driving school.

Fantastic experience: After wanting to starting my driving lessons for ages I finally found 1st class driving. I went through each video and found Mark I'm so glad I did he boosted my confidence and taught me everything I needed to know to pass my test 1st time I would highly recommend Mark to anyone looking to take lessons. Fantastic experience: Jerry is the best! As an experienced driver from the states - I needed to understand the UK way of driving to pass my test. Jerry was patient, understanding, and kind. He put all my worries to rest and understood my needs - and raised my standard of driving. I successfully passed on my first try with only one fault thanks to Jerry’s high class teaching. I highly recommend Jerry and 1st Class Driving School.

Positive experience: George is so professional. I have been driving abroad for a while and George made me realize the mistakes i have been doing. Hill start was scary for me all the times, Thanks to George now hill start is my favorite. George is very skilled trainer and thanks to him i passed my test last week.

Negative experience: HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICES EVER!!!They steal your money !!! My advice is go to looking for another driving school.

Fantastic experience: My driving instructur Kiran (West London): Kiran is a wonderful instructor.Always calm and smiley, never once I felt alone in my journey to get the licence - She is right beside you, emotionally too! She explains everything clearly, gives you great tips and never fails to make you aware if you are doing something wrong or picking up a bad driving habit. She is a very positive and supportive person and I feel so lucky to have had her as my instructor. I couldn't recommend her more!!

Fantastic experience: It has been a great experience to learn to drive with George. After few months of unprogressive lessons with an independent driving instructor, who only brought me down and made me so scared of driving, finding George was the best I could wish for! George is lovely, calm, very well spoken and an excellent instructor. He is very punctual and serious. He helped me all the way to become a confident driver and fight my fears. I have learned very well and quick with George. It was overall an amazing experience and I am very glad to have pass after a few attempts (only due to anxiety) with George’s help. I could not thank him enough and highly recommend him to anyone!

Fantastic experience: Contacted the school and they contacted me back within a day and I was connected with my preferred instructor. The instructor contacted me on that same day and I had a lesson within a week which was great! I had been through two instructors before I met Lisa, and she was the best instructor. I am so glad I met her as I was almost giving up on driving. Her determination to teach and help you pass is definitely motivating and she really does care about her pupils. She’s very easygoing and nice to talk to which makes you feel comfortable. Her patience and perserverance with me was amazing, she never rushed me and never got frustrated with me with the multiple mistakes I used to make. I now have a full licence thanks to Lisa, and I passed first time with only 4 minors. Safety is everything and Lisa definitely taught me how to be safe but also be confident, she helped me find the right balance between the two. I would highly recommend Lisa to anyone and everyone! If you’ve been through a few instructors like me, chose Lisa as she is very adaptable and can correct those bad habits you obtained with previous instructors.

Fantastic experience: It’s been great learning to drive with John. I’m in my late 30s and never believed I would be able to get my licence. John helped me make that happen. I was extremely nervous doing anything in a car, even going slowly around a deserted car park in first gear would freak me out! John’s extremely calm and positive nature was exactly what I needed to build my confidence. Now I’ve passed my test I’m slightly saddened as I will miss our Saturday morning chats. John's a great instructor and a great guy. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Lisa Smith was my instructor at 1st Class Driving School. I have nothing but positive things to say about her and my experience. She is reliable and always on time, extremely patient and gives constructive feedback, friendly and warm - a combination which makes her an amazing instructor, and made my driving lessons an enjoyable learning experience. Couldn't have passed my test without her!

Negative experience: Bad experience involves one driving instructor who proved to be v bad with his time keeping ,disappeared for a month holiday without notifying and leaves you if you are few minutes late! but deduct one hour money from you (v low peeson). Finally had to leave him before my test and my advise is not to use this company because they employ unreliable and unprofessional instructors. You want someone to teach you how to drive safely and pass a test and certinally you will not get that from Michael Bhoyroo.

Fantastic experience: Kiran Kalal is one of the best instructors you could hope for. I am extremely happy she was my instructor who helped me pass first time. She is really friendly and helpful, not to mention funny who made me feel comfortable and at ease from the very first lesson. She was very flexible with her times and would adjust to suit your needs and for that I am very grateful because without her understanding and encouragement I would not have passed. She focuses not just on your driving and helping you pass but also helps you with understanding road signs and helps you become a better and safer driver. I used to take 1 hour lessons and Kiran would make sure I understood everything from the lesson and progressed even if that meant her spending an extra 5 or 10 mins she would do without any hesitation. She never charged anything extra and her kindness would not be forgotten anytime soon. She gave me confidence and helped me relax on my test day. I can't speak of Kiran highly enough. My only regret is that I didn't come to 1st class driving sooner, I would of saved a lot of money being wasted on other school. Thank you so much Kiran for your passion, enthusiasm and encouragent on all our lessons together. You are a true professional. I have recommended Kiran to quite a few people and would continue to do so in the near future. Once again thanks for helping me pass. Much appreciated.

Negative experience: Appalling driving school, rude people. Was let down a week before the test by Jason (that apprently quit and came back) then have no other instructors available. If you are looking for a reliable school that is not going to let you down at the last minute, better pass your way

Fantastic experience: Awan was a brilliant instructor. Very patient and knowledgeable during lessons. He carefully takes you through the process of becoming a competent and confident driver. Fantastic experience: After having two previous Instructors and not passing my test I was ready to give up on driving for good. Jay took me on just six weeks before my test date and I hadn't had any driving lessons for over a year. For the first time I gained a clear understanding of where I was going wrong and what I needed to do to fix it. My fear was big roundabouts and parallel parking but Jay taught me in such a way that completing these manoeuvres became simple and no longer scary. On route to the test centre my nerves were getting the better of me but Jay firmly and quickly put me in check and it paid off.. I passed my test with 5 minors. Thanks so much!

Fantastic experience: cannot thank deborah enough with my driving. After changing my driving instructor so many times, deborah made the transition so easy and i didnt feel like i was back tracking, despite having to get used to a new car. She had more confidence in me than i had in myself and I think this is what pushed me to stop being a baby and get on with it! I would highly recommend deborah to anyone, she is a lovely, caring lady and i am so glad i picked her to pass my test! THANK YOUUUU SO MUCH XX

Fantastic experience: I did lessons with Alan at the end of the year in 2016. Thanks to him, I was able to confidently pass my test first time in January. He was an endlessly patient teacher, he never got upset at any mistakes, instead he helped me fix them. Always a joy to be around, Alan was chatty and friendly, putting you at ease throughout the driving experience. No question is ever a stupid question to him, and he spent a lot of time helping me practice things I was weak at, as he was able to recognise them easily. He's someone who puts his driving expertise to good use, and I'd say that anyone who does lessons with him won't be disappointed with the quality of teaching, patience and dedication.

Fantastic experience: Barbara is AMAZING! I started with 1st class a year ago and have been happy ever since! I passed yesterday first time and it has been such a delightful experience. Barbara made me feel comfortable, relaxed and she is very informative. From the word go she had her 100% faith in me which made me feel so happy. Fantastic experience: Hi My name is Said and i am From Uzbekistan. I booked my practical driving test with 1st class school in very closer to my exam time. I only had 7 hours driving with a professional, calm and with a clear explanation, friendly instructor. His name is Ofre. And the funniest thing is i booked my exam on my birthday and i Passed with a good result and this is the best birthday present i had for today. I would like to thank you my driving instructor Ofre for the best experience he delivered and thanks for 1st class school.

Negative experience: Worst and very rude instructor. I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Especially the instructor name called cristy is very rude. Don't waste your money on 1st driving School.

Negative experience: Really rude receptionists, 1st time i booked i was living in wembley for uni and came down to lewisham for my lesson, 10 miles apart. just for them to email me and tell me that my instructor has a lesson so i can't come. How, rude! this was my first lesson! I made came 10 miles and they didn't think to tell me 24hr before, but 1 hour before my lesson! even if i was waiting at my own home its not ok! Since then she has ALWAYS been late! From 45 minutes late to 1hr late. my mum told me when my sisters did their lessons, the instructor was always on time! I was mad at the receptionist, trying to find out, why and how did they not know my instructor was booked in??? someone must of broke the rules of not being professional, either the instructor or the receptionist. So i ended up wasting time, money, effort. Don't wanna continue this place anymore, even though its cheap. cheap for a reason eh I wanted to change my instructor and based on looking at their instructor availability timetable its useless! they emailed me and told me the one i wanted has quit, and 4 weeks since then, they still haven't taken off the "instructor that quit" so are you lying? or are you just untrusted. you can't trust anything from the receptionists or their website, not because they are scams, but they just are really unprofessional and unorganised. Why does my instructor only put on the Driving banner on the root top when she comes here btw? and then only a letter L when she changed her car. Just now I called, they hung up on me, 3rd time I called. Now I'm just emailing to book or ask.

Negative experience: STAY AWAY! PLEASE do Not Train with First Class Driving. I had 1 lesson and booked 3 more. First they changed the time of lesson 2 from the morning to the evening. Then on the day of the lesson they cancelled the lesson and the rest I've booked because the driving instructor went on holiday. I asked for a refund and it took 3 WEEKS and numerous phone calls to be Refunded. Appalling Service. PLEASE Take YOUR money elsewhere because they will gladly take it. I'm still waiting for a refund for the first lesson. So They're not sticking to their 'first lesson money back guarantee'

Negative experience: worse school ever instructor called christy did not show up to third lesson without any notice even though he booked me in for a third lesson and wrote it himself on my card he just decided to stop teaching me without letting me know also no communication from the school whatsoever ughhhh

Negative experience: Could not believe what I saw this morning. A blonde woman (on her own, not a student) driving her "1st Class" car (reg beginning with LX14 if I can remember properly) near Redhill train station on THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD, driving past a queue of traffic, then cutting in back through the traffic to turn left. I am suprised that she didn't hurt someone, and I would am very suprised she is allowed to teach people to drive. I would avoid this company as the instructors clearly cannot drive properly themself.

Fantastic experience: Steve B was awesome . The office itself are average . But your paying for the quality of instructor and Steve B was great. I have just passed first time. He was patient and calm. He used a range of teaching styles. I couldn't recommend him more.

Negative experience: First lesson booked. Driving instructor never turned up. When I called to ask why, there was no apology or any reason. Very unprofessional.

Negative experience: Very very unprofessional. My Instructer flopped a 2hour lesson and failed to turn up to my test the next day. I had to fight the school for my refund and it took over a month! Don't ever ever use this school! Worst experience ever.

Negative experience: Worst customer service ever! Waited outside for half an hour in the cold for the instructor to turn up but no one came. When I finally got through to their call center at 9 am I was told that they had my telephone number wrong on the system. They admitted they did have my address but the instructor was not prepared to knock on my door!! The rude 'woman' on the phone then proceeded to hang up on me with NO apology when I told her that I did not wish to proceed my driving lessons with them. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND #NOclassdriving!

Negative experience: Terrible Driving school, unprofessional, disorganised, poor instructors. Instructor always late or cancelling. was told to book my test, only for her to tell me she cannot take me and that the office would phone me. Two weeks later I received a call telling me another instructor wouldn't be available for another week!!!, though frustrating I decided to stick with 1st class driving school. One week later i recieved a phone call telling me that my lesson would have to cancelled. This is when I cut of all contact with 1st Class Driving School. Take my advice, find yourself another local or national driving school, these guys will waste both your time and money.
