Fantastic experience: TOP CLASS FIRM . I rang a few different driving schools last year when I wanted to get my HGV license and basically got no help I then got referred to this place and first off Josphine talked me through every step off the way and was extremely helpful and as for Gary you will not get a better driving instructor than this bloke he actually sees things happen on the road about 2-3 seconds before they occur . Very professional set up would Recommend to anyone

Fantastic experience: If you want to pass your HGV this is the man to go to. Couldn’t recommend Gary enough very good instructor from start to finish everything was clear and understanding and got the timing perfect wasn’t constant driving all day to be worn out the following day, I now feel a better driver in general not just driving a lorry. Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience with Gary. From the very beginning, he was incredibly impatient and unprofessional. It quickly became clear that he doesn’t understand the significant differences between driving a lorry and driving a car. He even told me, “If you can drive a car perfectly, you should be able to drive a lorry perfectly,” which is simply not true. Instead of guiding me through the learning process, he seemed to expect perfection right from the start. Every day, I was told that I shouldn’t be a lorry driver, which was both demoralizing and unhelpful. It felt like he was more interested in breaking my confidence to get more money from me rather than genuinely helping me improve. He also charges extra for retests, something he did not disclose upfront. I only found out about this fee after failing my first test. Gary would constantly talk about other students who supposedly drove perfectly, which only added to the pressure and anxiety. Although he claimed he wasn’t comparing me to others, his repeated references to them made it clear that he was implicitly comparing my performance to theirs. He also bombarded me with too many instructions at once, making it even harder to concentrate and learn. Gary didn’t seem to understand that making mistakes is a natural part of the learning process. Instead, he would say that my mistakes meant I hadn’t learned anything, which was both discouraging and untrue. Rather than offering constructive feedback, he criticized and belittled me, making the experience even more stressful. On top of that, his behavior could be physically intimidating. He sometimes aggressively grabbed the wheel, even when I was trying to follow his instructions. His actions were not only unsettling but also made it harder for me to build the confidence needed to drive a lorry safely. His behavior escalated to verbal abuse, yelling that it was like “knocking on wood” or “talking to a wall” with me, and he even aggressively hit his window in frustration. If I took a wrong turn, he would immediately become enraged. Adding to all this, Gary isn’t even on the lorry instructor register, which is concerning given the importance of proper certification in this field. Despite this, he seems to think he’s the best instructor around. He often told me stories of other students not passing with other driving schools, which was especially frustrating considering I later passed with another driving school after failing with him. Overall, I would not recommend this instructor to anyone serious about learning how to drive a lorry. His approach is not conducive to learning, and I left each lesson feeling frustrated and discouraged. It seems he prefers perfect students so that he doesn’t have to put in the effort to teach.

Fantastic experience: I recently just passed the Class 2 driving test with GB training school. Originally, i wanted to take the Class 1 course, but after realising myself, i wasn't ready, and advice from Gary, i continued with the class 2. Sometimes it is better to walk before you can run. I had driven class 3 lorries some time ago for a number of years, but had never been taught properly how to drive them. Gary changed all this, with his years of professional experience and know how. He will teach you to drive to a high standard, which is safe for yourself and other road users. Would highly recommend GB Driver Training School to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Just passed my class 1 and only because of the way Gary teaches his students. He is like no other instructor out there, teaches you not to pass a test but become a good driver and someone who takes pride in thier driving. I passed my class 2 couple years ago with Gary and come back.for my class 1 because I know how much of an excellent instructor he is with so much care and passion for driving. Fantastic experience: Being in my late 50s and deciding on a career change, I passed my Class 1 CE Test this morning so I’m living proof that Gary Benson can teach an old dog new tricks. I chose him as my trainer based on the positive reviews he receives and the fact he uses what I would call proper-sized-goods-vehicles. I can confirm to anyone who is interested that Gary is a firm but fair trainer. Perhaps a more important trait in today’s world I would say is that he is a person with morals and integrity (as evidenced by his pricing when compared with others); he really does want his students to pass and to be competent as opposed to just taking your hard earned money.

Fantastic experience: I passed my C+E driving test yesterday with this driving school. The service and teaching was first class, Gary the instructor is firm but fair and very friendly. He will always go the extra mile to explain what he is showing or teaching you. He does not aim to just get you through your test, he teaches you to be a mores confident and better driver. I wish I had gone to him directly not through a referral company as the training and skills you need come from him. I could not recommend him more brilliant experience from start to Finnish.

Fantastic experience: I wouldn't recommend anyone else for LGV Driver Training. Gary's has 30 years of experience as an LGV driver and the information, training Gary provides is brilliant. Gary doesn't just train you to pass your test, he trains you so you are prepared for when you have past your test. I am a confident driver but after a few hours of driving with Gary, you come to realise you maybe not as confident as you think you are with his very firm approach. You will go away after every lesson thinking that didn't go well, but it is the way Gary likes to prepare you for real life and after the weeks lessons you realise the information Gary has given has made you a better driver and more than over prepared you for your driving test. Gary provides one to one training, not shared driving, which ensures you get a good three hours of driving each lesson, believe me any more than this your head will explode with the information Gary provides. Great value for money, best price I found around this area.

After each session he provides honest feedback on what you need to improve and work on. His vehicles are clean and maintained to a very high standard. He is very flexible and very easy to talk to. Fantastic experience: From the first Day I contacted GB LGV driver training school, the standard of professionalism had been high to the end of my course. I was made aware of the price and what I would be getting etc. I had 1:1 sessions which beats every driving school I communicated with beforehand. No time wasting, always punctual, honest and full of wisdom in trucking industry. I certainly don’t regret any lesson at all, Gary is a great teacher and he wants his learners to pass. He was honest with me and gave me option of doing my test on rigid as I struggled on my first day… but after listening to his guidance and trusting his instructions I passed my C+E y today with no minors. He teaches you how you need to drive on the road rather than just to get you through your test like many driver training centres do. You learn with a full size rig too, so when you do pass and gain employment you’re not put off by big curtain siders. I can’t recommend Gary enough, he gives you the stern word when you need it so listen and do as he guides you. I wish you well Gary and I hope you grow from strength to strength.

Fantastic experience: Gary is excellent when it comes to detail and helps you massively whilst learning, I had many hiccups at the start and got massively wound up because I couldn't do it the right way once I slept on it, it all started to sink in, done my driving test today and passed the minors I picked up are exactly what Gary picked up on during the lessons, this man knows his stuff and is fairly priced and massively cheaper to the bigger corperstions which are about. Best thing too is it isn't a shared wagon it's all 1 to 1

After struggling with a agency company who robbed me blind then passed me on to a horrendous driving school, GB LGV driver training sorted me out with a few extra hours of driving and my test. Honestly learnt more in the 2 hours drive with Gary than I did with the other company, in what was apparently 16 hours. could not recommend Gary enough.

Fantastic experience: No time wasted at GB LGV Driver Training. Gary will have you straight in the drivers seat with 1:1 tuition. Having never driven a lorry before, Gary quickly arranged lessons for direct access to Class 1 and booked both driving tests for me. After approx two and a half days tuition, both Class 1 tests passed first time! Highly recommended, you will be worked hard, learn a great deal and be ready for your test quicker than you could imagine. Good style and technique, I found Gary very easy to get on with, even when I shunted the trailer and scuffed the tyres! Top bloke, many thanks Gary.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic 1 to 1 tuition at GB LGV driver training, Gary trains you to a high standard in driving an HGV therefore giving you the knowledge and confidence to pass your test, he got me through my class 2 test first time, if your thinking of learning to drive an HGV I’d highly recommend contacting GB Lgv driver training first
