Fantastic experience: Just got my license few days ago, and all thanks to NorthStar driving school and the instructor who truly care about your driving experience and safety.

Fantastic experience: Passed first time with only one minor thanks to NorthStar! My instructor was very passionate about helping me stay safe out on the roads- he taught me not only how to pass the test, but how to be a safe driver afterwards too. He was always punctual and never cancelled a lesson- I can’t thank NorthStar enough!

Positive experience: I took 4 lessons with NorthStar driving school before deciding that it wasn’t the right fit for me. I felt like the instructor was very impatient and so worried about his car that I was never able to learn from my mistakes. NorthStar also teaches a very traditional method of driving. Not necessarily a bad thing but it wasn’t until I started lessons with a different instructor that I realized the test is just about proving you are a safe driver, things like crossing your arms when turning the wheel don’t actually affect your test results.

Negative experience: Had lessons with Shazad from August to October. For the first three lessons he was alright. Calm constructive and informative. However, over time his behaviour became very passive aggressive, was very rude to me when making tiny mistakes and grabbing the wheel, making me look at his feet to grasp the pedals WHILE driving and saying unhelpful things that really knocked my confidence. I became terrified over time to have lessons with him, which is a shame because I was confident to start driving and get out there, now I'm terrified and is taking a lot to find another driving school. I get that instructors need to be firm as you are out on the road, however there's no need to act unprofessional. Pushed me to drive busy city centre routes when I wasn't ready and looked pissed if he had to take me to a quieter route. Then he had the audacity to tell me to chill......

Fantastic experience: I came to NorthStar after a failing four tests with two other instructors over a decade ago, and because of that I was a bit nervous driving and was prone to little mistakes that could easily fail me in a test. Two weeks ago, after lessons with NorthStar, I passed my test FIRST TIME in Gateshead, with only one minor! The instructor was great because he has years of experience, so really knows his stuff, and while that means he does expect a high standard of driving once he's taught you, that was what I really needed to pass my test. There are some reviews here saying he can be forthright - all I would say is that he clearly felt invested in me as a student and wanted me to succeed, and that's definitely one of the most important things you need in a teacher. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Shazad was great! Very good instructor with lots of experience. Takes his time and makes you sure you're confident and experienced enough to pass. Good rates as well. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: WARNING! Stay away looking back on experience with massive regret £1300 spent and adviced not even to do the theory at that point money grabber and will hold your progression back. Driving lessons were a nightmare aggressive shouting and grabbing the wheel for a mistake he thought you were going to make but never a danger to yourself and everyone. WHY this WHY that as others have reviewed this man is in the wrong job. One time he went in a huff and refused to guide and teach going along 30mph road very dangerous makes it awkward at times came of most lessons feeling angry and less confident. Utter disgraceful behaviour. If you want your confidence smashed to bits behind the wheel and your money wasted and shouted at this is your man just book with someone else it's not worth it! only booked because of covid times and he was only one available i see why!

Negative experience: My encounter with this driving instructor was deeply disheartening and wholly unprofessional. He was nice the first few lessons, spent good time going over techniques, but quickly started losing patience and became irritable. Regrettably, there was a miscommunication of appointment dates between us which was very minor, in which he resorted to raising his voice and engaging in insulting behaviour towards me. Such conduct is enormously unacceptable in any professional setting. I think he should remember that the instructor business is hugely based on here-say and interpersonal recommendations . He should think long and hard about how he carries himself to his *paying* customers. Thus I strongly advise all prospective clients to steer clear . And for him, I advise to think twice about hanging up in clients face , and using curse words when trying to civilly solve a simple mistake and miscommunication . You’d be better off riding a bike ☺️

Fantastic experience: Great driving instructor, we really clicked well together. At first I struggled as driving is not an easy task but he gave me a confidence boost all the time and with his confidence I felt at ease. He is a firm instructor as he wants you to pass, but pass in a good fashion. I would highly recommend him if you need a service that tells you exactly what you need to know with zero nonsense. He will get you that pass. Always on time and good prices.

Negative experience: Angry and shouty instructor, makes you feel uncomfortable and afraid to drive. Once he slapped my knee because I didn't use clutch as he wanted, situation like this should never happen, it's basically physical abusement. I chose this school because of good rating here but I should have read more reviews - most of these are fake. Don't waste your mental health for this "school".

Negative experience: Very disgusting behaviour. Loud, not patient. He seemed angry and shouting at me and asked me a lot with “why” why you do this, why you turn, why you look and check the mirror like that (I looked longer) and so many questions with “ why”because I am a learner I haven’t know how to drive that why I don’t know hair to drive. He a manual instructor but he told me should get automatically so if I he advise that so who rent him in the future. Stupid man ! All reviews above are fake !

Negative experience: Loud, not patient, not fast teacher. Too worried about his car than teaching how to drive. Went to flying colours driving school and taught me from scratch again. Just a waste of time and money.

Negative experience: Shouty and aggressive instructor. Even tries to scare you how expensive will be to fix rims if you will scratch them, instead of teach you how to drive. Very unpleasant experience, not recommended!

Positive experience: I had over 40 hours with Shazad and thought he generally gave an average / good service. However, there are some important issues which need addressing. Shazad’s aggression, impatience and impertinence. At times Shazad could get very angry unduly I thought. It created quite a tense atmosphere in the car which contributed to both of our stress levels. At times I felt I was learning through the fear of making a mistake. I think this made me a worse driver and at times I didn’t feel encouraged. I also thought at times Shazad could have been more chatty and personable as it sometimes didn’t make for a happy driving experience. At the competitive rate North Star offers, Shazad can be good value for money and I had some very good lessons with him. However, it is worth bearing in mind that the quality of instruction is sporadic and with so many driving instructors out there, I can’t help but suggest you assess your options. Also, I think Newcastle is a hard city to learn to drive! I’m going to do my test in the countryside!

Fantastic experience: I am very glad I took lessons with North Star having just passed my driving test. He was always firm but fair with me and challenged me. He cares a lot and not only wants to make you pass, but makes sure you are an excellent competent driver. He really cares and wants you to do the best you can. Fantastic experience: I am so glad I've taken lessons with NorthStar! I passed my driving test with two minors only thanks to the good piece of advice that my instructor provided me with during all the lessons. I am now so confident behind the wheel. And I know that, not only did I pass the test, but also I am a safe driver because of the time spent, the hard work and the teaching from NorthStar School of Driving. Negative experience: Did my first ten lessons with him. He’s very irritable and taught me nothing but bad habits. Go to Alice’s school of driving she’s brilliant. She had to re-teach me everything and stamp out my bad habits (like keeping the clutch down for turning all the time!)

Negative experience: Disgusting service from the instructor there, I wouldn't block book with this guy as he prioritises other drivers who haven't block booked. Glad to have exercised my refund rights and will be looking elsewhere for other lessons. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Fantastic experience: Holding a license from another country, attempting a practical test in a foreign place can be a daunting task especially with habits picked up from home. I am sure that the training I received enabled me to understand the style of driving here better - well enough to pass on my first attempt!

Fantastic experience: Before I started driving lessons I was slightly nervous because I had never been behind the wheel of a car before and my knowledge of driving was very limited. However I need not have worried. NorthStar Instructor was very calm throughout every lesson and made learning to drive both interesting and enjoyable. Even when mistakes were made, he added reassurance and told me to focus on the positives and how much progress I had made, rather than dwell on the bad, while at the same time talking through the errors and making sure they didn't happen next time. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to learn to drive. Thanks for everything Northstar!

He is a very caring instructor, who only wants the best for his students, which means that sometimes he had to be strict in order to deliver great results, but don't worry it's definitely worth it!!! I came across North Star School of Driving via a relative who recommend it to me. I have had no prior experience/knowledge of driving other than passing my theory test, so I had to learn everything from scratch. Positive experience: My driving instructor was great and I don't think I would've passed without his help. He explained all points clearly that I needed to work on and told me how to do all my manoeuvres so that I picked them up with ease. I was taken round the area I would be taking my test at and that really helped get me used to road layouts, routes that could be taken on my test which really helped. I was talked through what to expect for my test which helped to put me at ease and nerve free. Fantastic experience: After over a year since last attempting to learn to drive, I was very nervous about learning again as I was just hopeless. But taking my lessons with NorthStar was the best choice I could have made. After just over a couple of months I felt ready to book my test and passed, all thanks to the great teaching and guidance by NorthStar! Fantastic experience: I am highly satisfied with the learning expereince at NortStar Driving School. The school is not only assess the individual learners on thier competencies but also the way they could improve themselves in order to make them ready for the test without spending unnecessary costs for driving lessons. The instructors are very friendly and focused on the development of the pupil. The aim of the instructors is not only just to prepare thier pupils for driving test but also teach you defensive and safe driving techniques. I am acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the instructors and would recommend anyone to contact them and at least try one lesson to see how it goes. The expeirence of the instructors are very rich and constructive to teach you the practical way of driving which is enrmously different from theoretical knowledge. I wish all the best to this school and especially to Mr Qureshi who helped me not only to pass my test but to leading me the way towards becoming a defensive and safe driver.

Fantastic experience: My wife has passed the driving test today with the help of North Star. I had passed my test 10 years before with them then my little brother in last July and now my wife. Fantastic experience: Very good teaching, the car was also very good. Booked a 20 hour intensive course, cheapest rates i could find. Did a few more lessons to help improve my driving. My instructor was always on time and very patient with me. His knowledge of the test routes was also very useful. Its not just about passing the test, i am now very confident behind the wheel.
