A-Pass Driving School Northampton

Fantastic experience: Mac was willing to provide 2hour lessons over 4 days prior to a test in Northampton. We don’t live in Northampton and so were unfamiliar with the area. He is teaching driving skills to ensure you are a safe and competent driver. His calm honest direct approach comes from a good place and my daughter took onboard every word to improve her driving skills and techniques. She passed her test first time with one minor. I would highly recommend A-Pass and my thanks to Mac.

The way that he is encouraging students even when things are not going well is making you to work harder and improve the necessary skills.

Fantastic experience: I had Mac as my only driving instructor and passed 2nd time with one minor. Nerves definitely got the better of me first time around. However Mac was a great teacher who helped build confidence and was very honest in his teaching. He also let my dad sit in on lessons so that in my private practice my dad could correct me the same way. I did around 30 hours with Mac and this made me test ready.

Fantastic experience: highly recommend A pass, i passed first time with 1 minor and couldn’t have done it without Mac. An amazing, patient and honest instructor who clearly cares about his pupils and wants them to pass. very flexible with extra lessons leading up to my test and reliable too, overall very positive experience!!

Negative experience: I used to have lessons with Mac and he was very rude and impatient whenever i made mistakes and he would swear under this breath. Please, especially if you’re asian be careful when driving with him because based on the reviews you can tell he treats white people with more respect. It will just take you much longer to learn something than it would with other instructors as it took me more than 7 lessons to drive home when really it should take 2 lessons max. At some point he told me to stop taking lessons instead of taking accountability for his bad teaching. Fortunately with my new instructor I have been making much better progress. Please do not waste your money on them.

Fantastic experience: I came from India an year back and have been driving in UK since then. Had a 6 hour driving lesson from Mac. He told me how far to drive from the parked cars, how to do Mirror signal meneavoure, how to keep up to the speed limit as much as possible (if safe to do so) and most importantly gone through all the test routes in Northampton. I did practice for another 10 hours in my own car and I took the test in my own car and was able to pass it the first time.

Fantastic experience: I started my driving journey with Mac and had a bit of struggle in the beginning with not knowing how to slow down or keep close to the kerb. I found it a bit harder than usual to grasp the concept of driving and there were so many times I just wanted to give up. But Mac did not give up on me he persevered and encouraged me to keep on going, he would insist we do extra hours and kept doing the same things I was struggling again and again until I finally got it. How he managed to put up with me I don’t know haha. Instead of shouting at me Mac would makes some jokes but also be serious at times as well which I think was a massive help. Mac also used different demonstrations of maps and drawings to help me understand the ways of the roads better which did infact help me very much. He also encouraged me to watch YouTube videos and read some signs and would praise the good things I would do in the lessons. Two months down the line I have now passed my drivers license test and I’m so grateful and thankful to of had Mac as a driving instructor!! Thank you Mac

Fantastic experience: I have had a good experience overall with A pass. Today I was introduced to new traffic lights and bus lanes and when I did not understand my instructor offered a demonstration where he showed me how to approach it so that, I was able to try it again and do it successfully. He is very good at making sure I have a clear understanding and he gives honest feedback throughout the lessons so that you can make improvements and eventually book your test feeling prepared and confident.

He has taught me a range of things in the time that i have had with him. in this 3rd lesson i had, i had been driving around Wooton practicing left hand turns and roundabouts. Mac is a down to earth instructor, and will listen to your feedback and help you in anyway he can. I would definitely recommend A-Pass to young people looking for their first driving lessons. I have passed my driving test first time with 2 minors after having around 20 hours of lessons with Mac. Mac helped me with everything he could and even let me take a few lessons in my own car as i took my test in my own car. He let me know when I was ready to take the test and I just needed to put everything I had learnt and take it into the test with me. As i said i passed with 2 minors so he was clearly right about me being ready. I would recommend A-Pass Driving School to any new learners as he helped me start to finish and pushed me in every lesson to make sure that I achieve the next set of goals we had set. After every lesson he would ask how the lesson went and how I felt with the progress I had made and always gave constructive feedback to help. Fantastic experience: My driving instructor is GURSH, I am very fortunate to have him as my driving instructor. I had couple of years driving experience in my home country and I knew the difficulties in passing the driving test in the UK. However, he trained me in ample amount of time and keeping me in the position to pass the driving test with two minors. GURSH lessons are very productive in terms of quickly build the confidence on independent driving.He is very much flexible and provided me an opportunity to take the classes regularly to keep me in the confident zone while driving. He is very patient and never said no on my requests about the flexible timings. If anyone looking for a instructor like a family member GURSH is right option from A Pass driving.

Fantastic experience: I helped my son with making enquiries for driving lessons. We contacted several instructors who either didn’t call back, had full bookings, wanted us to block book for 20 plus hours at a fixed time over 20 weeks which we didn’t want. Mac was one who returned our call and I knew immediately he was the right one for our son. He’s a great guy, very patient and very honest. We agreed a weekly availability plan and that if Mac had any cancelled appointments to contact us immediately, we knew he was busy but he was flexible. My son learned to drive quickly and at all different times, there was no stress. My son sometimes had a couple of hours notice that Mac had a gap and we were happy to take the slot. He really is great and the lessons were fun and challenging. Highly recommended, first time pass which Mac expected and would have been disappointed if this wasn’t achieved as he knows his learner drivers so well.

Positive experience: Good experience overall. I have 11 years of driving experience in another country so my time with A-Pass was spent largely learning how to pass the UK driving test. I was fortunate and passed on the first attempt (6 minors). My only feedback on the day of the exam was that I was hesitating too much - which may be worthwhile feedback for the instructors of A-pass.

Negative experience: Totally unhappy , I have contacted them 5 months before my driving exam. When I did first lesson Mr Makhan said that what I did in first lessons others doesn't do in 15. With all that skills which I had he still insist to do 40 hours. At lessons I felt every time he's trying to find mistakes just to do more hours. I have paid 22 hours asking about receipt I received a paper writed and signed by him, after 22 hours he said he can not carry on with me. I have paid 770£ and he didn't teach me nothing ..

Fantastic experience: I have had 4 driving lessons with Mr.Mac now and have already tackled all of the basics of driving, large roundabouts and all the maneuvers. I cannot recommend Apass enough as they have been very accommodating of when I can do my lessons and have pushed me to do more complex driving each week.

Fantastic experience: Very good had 3 lessons so far and have learnt a lot I have done 4 different things in one lesson this includes right turns left turns pulling up to junctions and approaching roundabouts. This instructor is very good would definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: I started lessons with A-pass after having about 20 Hours with a different instructor. We started on test routes and manoeuvres. In no time my test was a month away and I felt I needed the hours, however, Mac told me that I didn’t need the lessons as I had covered everything I had to and would just cost me for a lesson I didn’t need. So we reduced my usual 2 lessons a week down to 1. My test came so fast yet Mac helped me to become a comfortable and safe driver. Thanks to A-Pass I passed 1st time! Would recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I really struggled with left turns a lot, however Mac helped me a lot by showing me and telling me what I should do and he has diagrams which he used to show me what I should be doing and very quickly I got the hang of it, I can make left turns very easily now. Negative experience: Absolutely terrible experience with my instructor! When Mac became my instructor, I already had over 10 hours of experience and yet I was forced to drive along the same circuit not going past third gear for the entire 2 hour lesson. Was treated like an infant! He was so stingy with me using his car that he'd cancel indicators himself early to save fuel! Was a complete waste of money and wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.

He was very flexible and was able to work around my shifts (which were different every week). Fantastic experience: By God's grace, I just passed my driving test first time with 4 minor faults. Making the decision to take lessons with A Pass is by far the best decision I made on my journey towards passing my test and obtaining my license. I had Mac as my driving instructor through out my entire experience, and I can - hand on heart - say that I couldn't have hoped or wished for a better instructor. At the start of my lessons, Mac gave me a lot of confidence by being very encouraging and helping me overcome my anxieties/worries over the entire driving test process. Mac was also very helpful and gracious in crafting a lesson plan which fitted round my work schedule and guaranteed that I was able to do at least one lesson every week. In the course of my lessons with Mac, I found him to be extremely detailed in his explanations. Mac cares very deeply about the success of his students and he is always willing to give his students the necessary feedback they need to succeed. As an example; in the initial stages of my lessons I struggled quite significantly with my positioning - especially within roundabouts. Mac took the time to painstakingly show me how I should be positioning at roundabouts, and how to stay within to my side whiles making my way through the roundabout. He would take the time to point out every single mistake I would make so that I would be aware of where I was going wrong and do better. Given that I was making a whole lot of mistakes at the time, Mac - no doubt - felt some frustration at having to point out the same things a number of times. Nevertheless, each time, he would gently provide me with the feedback I needed to be better. His consistent feedback spurred me on to do a bit of my own theoretical work on roundabouts before each lesson, which I then put into practice when I got behind the wheel. I cannot say enough how Mac's commitment to my success and his detailed teaching style have helped me pass my driving test first time. Thank you Mac - Thank you A-Pass

Mak was very patient with me, I took a long time to get hang of things, but he was very supportive and encouraging, this allowed me to learn from my mistakes and be a better and safer driver. Fantastic experience: A pass have been fantastic in helping me to pass my driving test. At first I took quite a bit time to learn the basics , however after I had the pace picked up and I started progressing really quickly. Throughout all of my driving lessons Mac was very patient and pushed me to keep progressing. Mac was also very genuine and wasn’t out to take extra money from me as he told me to book my driving test and that I didn’t need as many lessons anymore. He has a good understanding of what we need to work on and calmly helps me understand how to drive. Compared to previous teachers whom create a tense environment. Fantastic experience: A driving school that doesn't blindly chase money and concentrates on their learners and their progress. Mr Mak focuses on finding the thin line between pushing you to improve as much as you can and don't feel drained afterwards. Highly recommend this driving school for their honesty, good work ethics, ability to keep a good and engaging relationship between the instructor and the learner. I heard that the other instructor in the school is really good, as well.

Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience with Mac as my instructor. I passed first time with a total of 0 faults throughout the test. I previously had experience with a different instructor from another company and I can say Mac was a far better instructor. He was great at giving instructions, clearly cared and wanted me to pass. I have no complaints at all. When I was ready to book a test I did so and he was very honest with me, he told me that there was no need for me to be doing weekly lessons as I was already prepared and it would be a waste of my money. I took his advice and it worked out perfectly.

Fantastic experience: At 33 and never driven before I rang A Pass to look for an automatic lesson. After speaking to Mak he reassured me and told me it would be best to do it in a manual. I reluctantly agreed but it was the best thing I ever done. I had first lesson in July and yesterday I passed my 1st test with only 3 minors, this was all down to the teaching and confidence Mak gave me. Very professional and wants the best for all the students. I couldn't recomend A Pass enough and will be sending my son here in 4 years when he is old enough to drive. Massive thanks Mak and A Pass.

Fantastic experience: Mak is a brilliant driving instructor. He is very supportive and patient, especially when it comes to explaining the basics of driving and building confidence. Mak went out of his way to accomodate my erratic schedule as a doctor- always arriving on time!. His constant support and guidance helped me prepare for the test in time. The witty humor never failed to amuse! I was very fortunate to have Mak as my driving instructor and I couldn't recommend him enough- worth every penny!

Negative experience: Arranged a driving lesson with an instructor at a specific date and time, but he just didn't show! Sent my instructor a text asking where he was, he replied he's still in Spain?! No communication, poor organizational skills, avoid at all costs!

Fantastic experience: I had learned with Mak who was a calm and patient instructor with the ability to explain clearly or adapt the way he taught to suit my learning style. He had always been honest with my progress, explaining where I should be according to the number of hours I have done and explaining what I am doing right/wrong throughout the lesson. This was perfect for me as it allowed me to know precisely what I was doing incorrectly. Mak was also understanding of my priorities regarding to my university studies and with the fact that at times I could not afford lessons. He always stuck with the lesson plan agreed at the start of the lesson or the end of the previous lesson. Unfortunately, I failed my first test as I hesitated at a roundabout. 6 weeks later, I went took another test and passed second time, with one lesson one week before the test, with no driving faults.

Fantastic experience: I've had a great experience while learning to drive with A-Pass. Considering I had never had any driving lessons before, I started off by being worried and nervous. However, Mac, my instructor, was incredibly patient and calm, explaining everything step by step and always trying to find the easiest/best way for me to learn. He thought in a practical manner, tailoring his approach according to me. Nonetheless, he's always promoted progress and he's helped improve my confidence, by proving to me that I was ready to practice on roads and routes I had initially thought were too difficult. In addition, having to divide my time between a full-time job and a highly demanding psychology course, it made it difficult to find extra time to study for my driving lessons. Mac was very understanding in regards to this aspect as well, taking time at the beginning of each lesson to explain to me the theoretical part behind whatever we were doing that day. I highly recommend Mac and A-Pass Driving for a guaranteed first pass.

Fantastic experience: As a 17 year old, growing up, all I've ever wanted to do was drive, and I was fortunate enough to be able to get lessons with Mak at A-pass. He taught me all the basic training of driving and I was extremely confident in my ability with him. Mak was always professional, punctual, and calm with me as an instructor. He kept good documentation of every lesson I had had and made sure I felt like I knew what to do. He even prompted me to start bringing a notepad and pen just to right down everything I was learning! I passed first time after the 30 hour mark, and I can't say I wasted a penny. Fantastic experience: Been taking regular driving lessons with Mak for 3/4 weeks now; And making lots of progress. Great driving instructor! Having lived in London since 16; working as a Singer, I never needed to drive. But now having relocated back to Northampton, driving is essential. And necessary to get back and forth from gigs. Now 25; learning to drive isn’t easy but you can guarantee with Mak that it’s being done properly, preparing you not only to pass your test but how to drive safely and properly for the future!

Fantastic experience: My driving instructor Mac was brilliant at explaining and teaching me to drive. I passed on my first attempt thanks to him getting me ready for the test and being able to view my progress over the lessons I had. A-Pass was excellent at demonstrating the various test routes and pointing out common mistakes from other pupils and ensuring I was well prepared for when I took the test, this was extremely beinifcal for me because it meant I was comfortable with the routes I wolud likely take on the test which overall allowed me to pass. Overall I cannot say a bad word about A-pass, their instructors are very patient and go above and beyond to ensure you have every opportunity to pass your driving test.

Fantastic experience: I'm currently working as a junior doctor at NGH and needed to learn the life skill that is driving as I had put it off for too long. I took my lessons with Mak who was able to accommodate my odd working hours. I'm quite a nervous person and he really took his time to get me comfortable with the car and explaining things to me. He knew when to push me out of my comfort zone as well and into the busy streets of Northampton. I was really happy with my experience with A pass driving school and would definitely recommend it to others.
