Negative experience: My family kindly bought me vouchers for driving lessons with Britannia. Unfortunately I was injured and cancelled the lessons until I was medically fit to drive. My vouchers expired and have not bee able to get any communication from the owner as to whether they will honour the expired vouchers (which I was told could be renewed by the staff on the phone).

He was also very responsive to questions and he provided clear and comprehensive answers, no matter how many times I asked. Negative experience: Awful! If you operate in good faith AVOID AT ALL COSTS! They will take advantage of you and your pocket. Their customer service will offer you little to no help when you call to make a complaint about your instructor and then gaslight you into thinking you were at fault. But don’t forget to write a complaint LETTER to their bosses which no doubt will go to the same office that they took your call to begin with. £215 for 6hrs out of pocket and supposedly it’s my fault for having an instructor who cut my lessons short by 20mins each time.

Negative experience: Terrible company. Fake reviews. They will not reimburse you for lessons. Avoid at all cost

Negative experience: Really bad service. Before I booked with them, I told them the day that I would have my driving test. After I did my first lesson with my instructor, I reminded her about my driving test, and all she told was that nobody told her about my driving test. I had my driving test the week after giving my driving lesson. I spoke with one of their staff, and all they told was sorry for that, but they couldn’t do anything, because the instructor didn’t update her diary. They are just a scam, be careful.

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend George, my brother and I both had him as our instructor and we both passed. Very nice and welcoming man, helped relieve a lot of the stress by making us laugh and just overall great experience. Always looked forward to our lessons, solid 10/10, would recommend to everyone.

After a disappointing encounter with a previous private instructor, I approached Britannia with some hesitation, and they recommended Johnny to me - a decision I'm incredibly grateful for. I don’t know about the school much Sir Frank is an exceptional ORDiT (Official Register of Driving Instructor Trainers) driving instructor trainer. His expertise in teaching and preparing future driving instructors is truly commendable. He goes above and beyond to ensure that his trainees are not just capable of passing exams but are also equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in teaching others to drive safely.What sets Sir Frank apart is his patient and methodical approach. He understands that becoming a driving instructor is not just about technical know-how but also about effective communication and teaching techniques. Negative experience: Pre-booked driving lesson but instructor failed to show up!!!! No prior phone call, message nor email with notice, just left waiting. No courtesy communication after booked session to explain no show! Office didn’t have a clue what was going on and still no apology. Three weeks and am still trying to get a refund. Lies and excuses not to give a refund! Avoid at all cost. Use Virk Driving School instead. 5* Google rated. Professional and won’t let you down!

Negative experience: Having to deal with Britannia Driving School on behalf of my son with regards to a no-show from the instructor on a pre-booked lesson, the service is shockingly poor!!! The instructor failed to show up at the pre-booked time, no phone call, nor text, nor email to say cancelled etc. When we contacted the office, so called Head Office, they didn’t have a clue! They palmed it off to the instructor. It would appear that the instructor manages their Head Office rather than the so called Director managing the instructor! Still waiting for a refund for the no-show lesson! Apparently, according to the telephonist, the so called Management never attend their Head Office so you can’t get hold of them! Avoid…. go elsewhere where you get good service, instructors whom attend when booked and a office team whom want to help when things go wrong and whom have a degree of customer service skills amongst them!!!!

Fantastic experience: I want to thank Libby at Britannia driving school for helping me pass the test. It was my 3rd attempt but this time I invested time in more lessons with Libby and it paid off. Being a experienced driver of a crazy country (Mexico) really plays with your head but Libby was able to take those bad habits away and thought me the UK way smoothly. I highly recommend her.

Negative experience: AVOID! I’ve paid two hours lesson, nobody showed up and even worse nobody contacted me. I’m requesting a refund and I’m still waiting for answer. Don’t waste your money is scam!

Fantastic experience: I've contacted several driving schools before making a decision and Britannia was the easiest and most efficient one by far. Libby my instructor was absolutely great, super patient, her explanations about the mistakes I made were really helpful. I could see improvements after starting to take classes with her immediately and I went confident to the driving test and passed the first time. I highly recommend her!

Fantastic experience: My instructor was Johnnie, and I couldn't have asked for a better, calmer, more proficient teacher. I had a very bad experience with another private instructor, and when I approached Britannia, I mentioned my hesitation — they recommended Johnnie to me. He approached every lesson with a distinct plan that took into account my existing skill as well as my personality. He was very easy to get along with, and as a quite talkative person myself, he kindly and graciously engaged with my chatter - but was never hesitant to tell me when it was time to really focus and stop the gabbing! He was firm but never mean or sharp. Most importantly, if I didn't understand him I never felt uncomfortable saying so — and he never made me feel badly that I didn't get it. He always came up with another and easy-to-understand way of teaching. Every lesson was a joy to attend. I cannot recommend him more highly to anyone, whatever age, gender, and skill level. He assured me I was ready and I indeed passed my test on my very first go! It wouldn't have been possible without him as my teacher.

Fantastic experience: Kiran - thank you for being an amazing instructor! After not driving for 3 years due to covid, his lessons helped me get up to test standard and pass my test today with 3 minors! He is patient, encouraging, practical and teaches you everything you need to know! Not only was he flexible and picked me up/ gave me lessons around his schedule, but the intensive course (20h) with him was so enjoyable throughout. Kiran, thank you for taking the time to teach, understand and encourage me! Instructors who make you feel comfortable are rare to find but crucial to having a great learning experience - thank you!

Fantastic experience: I got lessons from Sam and she was such an amazing, motivating person. I got cleared my test first time, all thanks to my instructor. Her instructions are very clear and the classes were amazing . She is completely dedicated as well.I will definitely recommend her to anyone.

Negative experience: A complete scam. If I could give 0 stars, I would. After a 2 hour lesson with one of the Britannia instructors (Kiran) in Mitcham, he promised to share his schedule with me the following day and instead completely ghosted me only 2 weeks before my test! Despite this, it has been confirmed by the office that he continues to take lessons with other students and no action was taken to reimburse me for the lesson or wasted time spent with him. He also advised at the end of our lesson that I would likely only benefit from 2 more hours of lessons before the test if I wanted them. For this reason, I scheduled in the additional 2 hours with another instructor as a precaution in addition to my own practice over the weekend (due to the already limited availability of lessons). I live an hour and 45 mins away from Mitcham and had almost arrived for a lesson very early in the morning when I found out the lesson had been cancelled and I was left with no one to book my driving test with.

Fantastic experience: After some bad experiences with different instructors, I just pass my exam with Britannia having the pleasure to meet an incredible instructor called Sam, she is very caring and patient with her students. You can feel that she is there for you 100% so don’t hesitate to contact her!

Negative experience: I had negative experience with Kieran, I have done at least 25h and failed 3 times, he was on his phone through the whole time, barely paying attention to how I drove. Sometimes even having video chats with his friends whilst I was driving. I spend loads of money with him, then had to stop due to my surgery, which he knew about, we agreed we will restart afterwords. He completely ignored my messages and hone calls. Now I started with another company and what a huge difference! I'm learning things I had never been told by Kieran. It was waste of my money and time !

After I have paid £449 for an intensive course and arranged for time off work to have the lessons No one showed up on the day,and when I called they told me the lessons were accidentally cancelled and booked for other students They failed to book new lessons for me before my driving test so I had to book with another school They’ve advised me to contact them by post for a refund, it’s been 2years,I have contacted them by phone,email and post but never got a reply Whenever I call they tell me that they can’t discuss the matter as the person who picks up the phone is only a booking receptionist and I need to speak to someone from management,however they refuse to put me through to management

Plus they’re competitively priced compared to the bigger schools. My advice - stick with these guys, and give it longer than you think it will take, if you want to pass 1st time.

Fantastic experience: I have passed my driving test yesterday after having lessons with Jon in Tolworth. He is an amazing driving instructor, patient and very reassuring. His way of teaching the basics and manoeuvres techniques was simple and effective. Booking the lessons was easy and the lady who helped me through the chat was very kind. Would definitely recommend Britannia Driving School and would 100% recommend Jon as a driving instructor.

Negative experience: Jon, the instructor I had for one lesson in 2021 kept touching my hand every time I changed gear. He also said some rude and abusive things when I asked him to stop. Extremely creepy and off putting, and something I still think about often. The driving school didn't acknowledge my complaint even though I emailed in several times. Do not recommend

Fantastic experience: I did 2 lessons with Sameera and passed my test this morning. Would recommend this driving school without a doubt.

Negative experience: This "driving school" provides no customer service. The instructor allocated cannot guarantee availability for an exam booked many months in advance, and often cancelled last minute due to, presumably, being overworked and the school being having no adequate resources to cover the number of pupils they take money from. The school needs to focus on being a professional business rather than the scam it is. I do not recommend.

Negative experience: PLEASE DO NOT PAY YOUR LESSONS IN ADVANCE!! Or have any lesson with Peter (Piotr) I have paid for lessons in advance £150 to your polish driver instructor Peter and he never came back to me. He is not answering His phone or replying to my messages. Thanks for keeping my hard earned money and not got back to me SCAMMER!!!

Negative experience: If you never drive in your life never take the instructor Johnnie who teaches in Rotherhithe area, is extremely rude person make me cry, when he teaches swears a lot, get frustrated easily, he told me I am so frustrated as student because I'm not pick it fast what he tried to teaches, he iis tired to teaches me over and over again even I'm paying for? Fantastic experience: I have passed my driving test in July thanks to the tuition of Sameera A.(automatic car/ SW London) I could not recommend her enough, not only for her exceptional teaching but also, for her patience, joy for driving and kindness.

Fantastic experience: Elliot is the walking definition of a Master at his craft. I've had multiple instructors over the past 10 years of learning to drive, but Elliot made me feel comfortable on all my lessons. I found myself waking up on time excited for my 8am lessons when I don't even wake up on time to go to my day job. He was also very flexible and accommodated me especially in the last 3 days before my test, when I texted him "Are you available today?" he always made time for me. Elliot has transformed my life, and I will be recommending all my friends interested in a driving license to reach out to him. I passed first time, and I was nervous at first (If you're not nervous, you're not human!) but after setting off with the examiner, my nerves went away as I believed in my training and the training that Elliot provided to get me to pass. His voice is now hardwired into my subconscious whenever I drive, and that is a comforting thought. 10/10 couldn't have asked for a better instructor. Kiss the brakes.

Negative experience: Scam. Took my money for six prepaid lessons. Could not provide an instructor for months. Finally provided one. Instructor cancelled at 9pm the night before the first lesson, has not been in contact since, and appears to have blocked me. Britannia Driving School refused to refund by email, claiming that refund requests had to be in writing on paper in a letter through Royal Mail. Well I did that five weeks ago. They have not replied. They are apparently famous for doing this. Don't give them any money, they will take it and run. Edit: two months later, they hold my paper request and the actual vouchers. They no longer respond to emails. They clearly never had any intention of refunding and have stolen my money.

Negative experience: Booked in lessons even though more expensive than other companies in the area because they had sooner availability. Driving instructor asked for cash on second lesson, we had paid for 10 lessons and had vouchers. After saying we are not able to pay in cash as this was through a business for a member of our staff the instructor informed us he no longer has availability at the time we were promised. The next available instructor is not for over a month. We would have booked with less expensive schools, only went with them as they told us they had availability. To get a refund you need to post a letter. It is 2022 and they do not accept refund requests by email. I will send the letter now and update here if any problems. Receptionists are quite rude as well.

Fantastic experience: James was a brilliant driving instructor- he instilled so much confidence in my driving and I passed first time! I would recommend him to anyone who is learning to drive :)

Negative experience: If I could score this driving school 0 I would. I called this driving school 2 weeks in advance to book a few refresher lessons because my test was in 2 and a half weeks. The rude and incompetent receptionist stated that they have a few driving instructors who cover my area and she booked the car for my test. On the day of my first lesson the driving instructor told me that he only covers Wimbledon and Tolworth, he has never covered mitcham test route and he doesn’t know this area (my test is in 5days). I called the receptionist and she told me that they don’t cover the area, they don’t have any driving instructors and they can’t book someone for a driving test coming up in 2 weeks. I’m very disappointed in their service, I most certainly will not recommend this driving school to anyone. Very unprofessional and rude internal employees who clearly don’t know how to do their job.

Fantastic experience: I had never driven a car before my first lesson with Elliot and after around 30 hours of lessons, I passed my test first time with only 3 minors so I highly reccomend.

Fantastic experience: Passed my test first time on 25 March 22. Really recommend James as a driving instructor. He is friendly, knowledgeable and professional.

Negative experience: DO NOT USE THIS DRIVING SCHOOL. This company have taken the birthday money of a teenage girl who booked an intensive driving course at cost of over £800 and not provided the course or the driving test which is GAURENTEED with in 2 weeks of the course! The person who answers the phone is unhelp, rude and poorly equipped to give reasonable responses to simple questions such as "why take the money for the course if you don't have any test dates?". If you are looking to learn to drive and especially if you want an intensive course:- DO NOT USE BRITANNIA DRIVING SCHOOL !

Fantastic experience: I passed my test today and Kiridharan was my instructor. He was very knowledgeable and patience with all my faults and explained every step of driving clearly. Before test , he made me practice my weak points again and again which encouraged me to take the test confidently. Thankyou Kiridharan & Britannia.

Negative experience: I purchased a bundle of 12 hours but with 6 hours left my instructor had some complications which ended in him cancelling the rest of the lessons. I was then told i will receive a full refund for missed lessons. After waiting 14 days for my refund i was sent the wrong amount!! After following it up and proving the hours owed i am now getting refused to be fully refunded! This is very unprofessional and i will not be recommending this company!

John O was my instructor and he was truly brilliant; I passed my test first time and with only one minor! I was very anxious about learning to drive, but John’s calm demeanour and positive attitude definitely helped me to relax and actually enjoy the process! John was always very flexible, meaning I could fit lessons in around my university timetable - something I couldn’t have done otherwise - and never charged more for evening or weekend lessons. Overall, Britannia is a great driving school, and I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone looking for high quality, thorough and professional driving lessons

Fantastic experience: My driving instructor was John O, and he was absolutely amazing. I passed my test first time with only 4 minors, and I felt very confident and relaxed beforehand. I found the lessons with him invaluable, and he always made me feel very relaxed and ensured I was enjoying the lessons. He was always very thorough and everything he taught me was extremely clear but detailed at the same time, and I had no doubts whilst I was learning to drive. His lessons were so invaluable that I decided to return to him in order to complete the Pass Plus course (which I'm currently doing), and I am thoroughly enjoying it and already feeling even more confident as a new driver. I'd highly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn how to drive, he is an outstanding driving instructor.

Fantastic experience: Being an older lady I was really nervous about taking driving lessons. The staff at Britannia were efficient and helpful and fitted the lessons around my schedule I was extremely nervous learning how to drive at the age of 60!! My very first time behind the wheel I don’t mind telling you I was petrified, I really cannot recommend my driving instructor enough Jon F who totally totally put me at ease talking me through every single step in a way I understood. I don't mind admitting I am a slow learner and can be hard work when trying to learn something new but Jon F showed the patience of a saint!!- Thank you so much Jon when above and beyond his call of duty to help out with my theory test giving me tips on how to remember certain parts as my memory is not so good at my age . Fantastic experience: My daughter’s first instructor with another driving school in Luton, was an unmitigated disaster. We stuck with them for ages before changing, but it was money down the drain. Then we tried Britannia Driving School and were allocated Anthony as my daughters driving instructor. I Sat in on the first few lessons and discovered that Anthony had a way of making my daughter feel that her mistakes were minor glitches and overall, she was making progress. This made all the difference to her confidence. She passed her test with flying colours thanks to Anthony.

Fantastic experience: Wow! I got my driving licence in only seven days with Britannia Driving School. The idea of taking a six-day intensive course on an automatic with Britannia, was an appealing shortcut for me, which avoided fitting in lessons round work for several months in all sorts of inclement weather. Thanks to my instructor Kevin (God Bless Him) I can now get into my car on impulse and go anywhere I like – to the countryside, to visit friends, shopping. Kevin has got the patience of a saint and I’m not sure I could have done it without him. FB

Negative experience: I received 6 lessons as a present. I had 6 lessons booked but the driver only turned up for 3 of them. When I called Britannia to try and change instructor I was told he was the only instructor in the whole of the South East London area. If I needed to use my vouchers I would need to travel to the Wimbledon area (9 miles away) for each lesson and work with an alternative instructor. When I asked them for a refund they said I needed to send my vouchers via post (they would not take scan’s or photos of torn up vouchers) which was further expense. I’m still not sure whether they credited the person who provided me with the present – they never responded to any of my emails. Disappointing.

Fantastic experience: Passed yesterday first time with only 2 minors, very happy and impressed with my instructor (Graham) Brilliant guy, very easy to get on with, made manoeuvres much easier to my previous instructors and all round in general a lot smoother in driving methods. Negative experience: I had 11 lessons with Britannia. Although my driving instructor was very friendly and nice I wouldn’t recommend. Each lesson I would be picked up with the previous student in the car, to drop them to a location, which put me extremely on edge as who wants to be driving people around whilst you are learning to drive, anxious they are judging you? Instructor so busy that every lesson forgotten what we had done previously needed me to remind him. Baring in mind my instructor was rated one of the top, senior instructors. Also inconsistent as so many bookings and not enough available or flexible slots. 11th lesson I was still doing the very same thing I did on my 1st, £270 down the drain. A honest review which I hope will help those learning to drive determine if Britannia is for them, it wasn’t for me. I believe they are a pure profit company and wish I had been told before I wasted months of lessons and got no where.

Negative experience: Don't know much about the other instructors. But Elliot needs to drop out. Rude, impatient and made me feel agitated while trying to learn how to drive. He was being rude for majority of my first 2 hr lesson, but let it slide but then on my 2nd lesson he started being rude again, I'm not a mug so I mentioned it to him. He then ended the lesson. Fantastic experience: Jane was truly a brilliant instructor - unsurprising since she has a wealth of experience as an instructor on both manual and auto. She built up my skill set gradually and identified my weaknesses in due time before my test. She made verbal instructions concise, making them easy to remember and I spent more time actually driving (not so common amongst instructors!). Her targeted approach meant I was prepared for all aspects of my test and passed first time! Would highly recommend booking double slots with her to make the most out of a session, especially if you're learning part-time.

Fantastic experience: I passed on my 2nd time with Jane as my Driving Instructor. She is friendly, calm and encouraging and that built my confidence when driving. I was able to improve on manoeuvres and navigating through roundabouts. Britannia is a great driving school with reasonable prices. I learnt with them for a year and a half. I can say that it has been a good and rewarding experience.

Fantastic experience: I passed this afternoon with Britannia and I would recommend this driving school to anyone who wants to pass safely and quickly. My instructor Jane was really friendly and encouraging, but also honest which I feel made a major difference in my driving. She was honest about how I was getting on and was patient with my driving abilities (or lack of!) and helped me to become a confident driver in no time. The customer service by telephone and email was excellent and I was always able to get in touch with a REAL PERSON over the phone which is near impossible in this day in age. Great service and great staff all round!

Fantastic experience: My experience with Britannia was OUTSTANDING!! Under the expert guidance of my instructor Jane, I not only learnt the general driving skills but most importantly to be a SAFE DRIVER. She taught me the right techniques for performing maneuvers and built my general road confidence. Her constant encouragement and patience helped me pass my test with only 4 minors. Britannia let me go at my own pace and weren't pushy so to ensure that after passing I was still conscious of the road hazards and safety. My instructor Jane took personal responsibility to plan each of my lesson by working on my weak areas and polishing the stronger ones. I certainly got my money's worth. Today I drive my 2 yr old toddler to school with full road confidence. I would like to use this forum as an opportunity to thank Britannia and my instructor Jane for believing in me. Mrs A

Fantastic experience: My son is a lazy toad so I thought I'd write his review. (Well I did pay for the lessons, so I am entitled). My son actually managed to listen to someone and pass his test. He is not the easiest lad to get on with being a typical 19 year old. Anyway he said he loved his lessons which he thinks made him feel more confident when it came to his test. He's had another instructor in the past but he didn't get on with him. This time he had a lady called Jane. (thank you) He said she was soooo funny and made him laugh when he did things wrong. He says this is why he didn't make the same mistake twice as it made him remember his mistakes. Jokes aside he said he couldn't have done it without her. I'd also like to thank the ladies in the office for helping with his booking and re-bookings when he couldn't get his backside out of bed in the mornings.

Fantastic experience: It was great experience, however Andrew my instructor was very patient, calm flexible and outstanding, I enjoyed my lessons moreover, I passed my test from the first time. I would highly recommend Andrew and the company Britannia for the lovely customer service they provide.

Fantastic experience: I have given 5 stars but if I could I would of given many more for Neil and the office staff. I can't thank my instructor Neil enough for the help he gave me learning to drive, I was very nervous and he made me feel confident about the whole course, I chose Britannia after reading a huge number of good reviews on the net obviously there are very few bad reviews but they didn't effect me because I understand you can't please everybody. I will be recommending Britannia to everybody!!!

Negative experience: I chose to go with Britannia based on reviews I found online. Big mistake! A couple of days before my test date my driving instructor informed me he won't be able to come along to it as he's away on holiday when he knew the test was on that day. His argument was that i hadn't confirmed one of my lessons with him. I had to consequently cancel my test, loosing out on money and not feeling very confident about general driving. Plus I still have some outstanding lessons I had already paid for with this instructor. When I informed the office they were unable to apologise or offer any explanations but said they weren't really 'affiliated' with the driving instructor in question (even though they clearly were as he was working for them). They did say they would find me a new instructor and a new slot for my test. Didn't contact me for months and absolutely no communication unless it came from me. Customer service was a joke, rude and unhelpful and made my whole experience really awful. I ended up going with another driving school and passed. Would give 0 stars if I could.

Fantastic experience: Had the enormous pleasure to pass my practical driving exam today. Jon was my instructor and coach, I could never have done it without him. He is so so dedicated, so tactful, such hard working person. Always went above and beyond to support me, to restore my courage and make me believe. I now drive with confidence and I enjoy it so much. I cannot thank Jon and Britannia enough.

Fantastic experience: I was taught by a lady called Jane and she was fantastic! Came and picked me up from my desired location and offered me a few destinations to teach me so I was completely comftable! Will definitely be recomending to my family and friends!

Negative experience: Poor teaching in the sw area , had 3 instructors from this school 1st instructor (ROB) wasted £700 just getting me to do the same thing over and over around Barnes, i had to re book my test 2 times with him. 2nd instructor i had to wait 3 weeks to get so i had to re book my test again he cancelled my lesson because he wasn't feeling well , 2 weeks later i called him to find out if it was ok for another lesson, to find out he had left the company, was nice of britannia to let me know? 3RD instructor (John) only had 3 lessons with him and he was a moody and rude person , had attitude because he had to drive to me for the lesson and constantly had attitude , throwing dirty looks and tutting all the time didn't make learning enjoyable at all. top it off he wanted me to travel to Richmond station to start my lesson with him when i don't even live there? so that's ££46 for a 2 hr lesson and on top £8 pound for travel to Richmond and back. called the office but as usual they didn't want to know they distance them self from instructors and students who have a problem, and also refuse to pay back vouchers you haven't used even when its there instructors that have caused the problem. WARNING!! DO NOT GO WITH THIS SCHOOL IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!!

Fantastic experience: I booked the 7 day intensive course and passed my driving test first time. From booking the driving lessons to booking the driving test, Britannia took care of everything and were very professional and friendly. All driving instructors are fully qualified, unlike some other companies that use trainees. I had John as an instructor and must say that he was brilliant. He was very patient and approachable, making me feel relaxed and calm - a must when trying to learn how to drive. I thoroughly recommend Britannia Driving School.

Fantastic experience: If you are looking for a driving instructor no one will be better than Mary!!! She is the nicest, sweetest, most amazing driving instructor ever! I had bad experiences with previous instructors and she was the only one that taught me calmly. I have now passed my test and everything that she said helped me through it!! Look no further!
