Fantastic experience: Darren is a fantastic driving instructor. In only a few lessons he managed to take me from being an anxious, tense driver who couldn't manage high pressure situations on the road to someone very relaxed and prepared. His lessons are well structured, with a plan for every lesson to get you where you need to pass. I think everyone should learn with Darren, but especially if you have had issues driving from anxiety he can help you through that too. It was a pleasure be learn with him and can't recommend GDI enough. Thank you Darren!

Fantastic experience: I couldn’t recommend Darren more! He’s not only a very talented and experienced driving instructor, he’s also an extremely caring, compassionate and kind person. He tailors his approach to the individual and their needs, and always made me feel safe. He goes above and beyond for his pupils - even completing a counselling course in his own time to improve his communication skills. He is highly trustworthy, and will always do the best that he can to ensure you progress to test standard. My learning had many interruptions, including Covid and my busy education schedule, but Darren never gave up on me! He made learning to drive a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I can’t thank him enough for that.

Fantastic experience: GDI aka Darren is one of the most professional driving instructors I have learned with, A wealth of patience and knowledge. He explains the theory and driving only someone of his caliber is able to! He helped me so much and I passed my test with flying colours first time. Darren is much friendlier, exactly what you need when you’re driving. Someone that gives you confidence and explains everything calmly. I would give GDI 5 stars ⭐️ I have ADHD so things can trigger me, Darren specialises in teaching those with learning difficulties so it was a perfect fit. A comprehensive course at a reasonable price as well. Do yourself a favour and take a look for yourself he will not disappoint you.

Fantastic experience: Darren is a great driving instructor, he is very informative and his refresher lessons really helped me build my confidence in driving after passing my test several years ago. He has a very calm, reassuring way of teaching and i never felt under pressure at all when i made mistakes etc. Darren has also provided loads of advice regarding driving in different situations, what kind of car to buy, and even places to visit once i get a car. I would definitely recommend Darren and will be contacting him again if there is anything else i want to work on in the future.

Most of all Darren has ensured that not only was my son ready to pass he was a safe and capable driver. Darren continues to be an amazing and thoughtful instructor who is an absolute one off. Fantastic experience: Darren is an excellent instructor who I would recommend to anyone. He is patient and explains everything very clearly which helps to boost your confidence. You can tell that Darren has put a lot of time and effort into his teaching as he has looked for the best ways for his pupils to learn by starting with taking you through every part step by step, repeating this often and then gradually making you more independent so when you go into that test you feel confident in your driving ability. He also uses exact reference points on the car so that you carry out every single manoeuvre perfectly. At the start of my driving experience I was very nervous when doing manoeuvres but learning these reference points, and all the practice we did in our lessons, made them feel easy. He was always very encouraging about my driving, making sure to give positive comments whenever I did things well, which made me have a positive view of driving as I felt relaxed and confident in myself. He was also very patient when you made mistakes and talked you through how to correct them in a way that did not make you feel stressed or embarrassed. He also teaches you to the standard of the test conditions so your driving is up to a standard that will impress the driving examiners. With all of Darrens help going into the test I felt ready as I knew he believed in me and he helped me believe in myself. I can’t thank Darren enough for all his help with this long process due to cancellations and delays of my test and I genuinely cannot recommend him enough.

Fantastic experience: Darren has been absolutely superb through some Complex times with Covid. My daughter's exam was cancelled at least twice due to lockdown and Darren was supportive and offered practical advice as restrictions lifted. My daughter enjoyed lessons with Darren and learnt quickly and with confidence. I would have no hesitation highly recommending Darren if your son and daughter is learning to drive.

This allowed me to feel comfortable about asking questions, even ones I felt where silly. He patiently explained everything and in a way that made me understand what he meant. When I first started with Darren I wasn't very confident with my driving but Darren was very good at putting me at ease. He never got frustrated about the mistakes I made but instead he would make sure I understood what to do next time I came to the same situation. He helped me build my confidence in myself, by allowing me to try and work things out but still helping before I started to worry or stress. He was good at reassuring me on what I did correctly and explain what I needed to improve and how I could go about doing it. He made me more confident in my ability, so at the point when I took my test I felt ready and confident that I could pass.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant instructor and a really nice guy. Really enjoyed my time learning with Darren, was always friendly never anything but pleasant. Every time we set off he explained what the goal was for the day and was always clear with his instructions. Whenever i made a mistake or did anything wrong he was always understanding and never raised his voice or got mad which really helped with stressful situations. I was a bit unsure about driving at the beginning but by the end i was super confident and just desperate to pass. During our time we had to deal with the covid situation and lesson timing was made and issue by my working however Darren always found a way to fit me in. Even the times when i forgot to wake up and missed a lesson Darren never gave me any grief. Darren is just one of the nicest people i have ever met and we always had conversations during the lessons which took any of the stress away Would highly recommend Darren to any first time drivers you will really enjoy your time learning.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic instructor - first time pass - would highly recommend! Darren was fantastic with me and made me feel extremely comfortable every time we got into the car together. He’s incredibly professional, charismatic and understanding, I couldn’t ask for a better instructor and truly feel the need to sing his praises. We would often begin each lesson with a conversation on how I was doing and what I needed to do in order to pass my test, from here Darren always made sure that I understood his teachings and never got upset me with when made mistakes, instead we would had a good laugh and he would always reassure me that I was doing really well and how I could improve. Due to Darren’s understanding and expertise I was able to pass my test first time and felt confident I could pass before even setting foot in my car on my test date. The reason you should choose Darren is because he will never lose his temper or get angry with you due to your driving mistakes. Instead he brings up your ability and turns you into a confident driver, making you better and better every lesson.

Fantastic experience: Having had a bad experience with a previous instructor, I came to Darren, through recommendation of my brother, with a bit of a negative view towards driving. After my very first lesson with Darren, my view had completely changed and I found myself actually enjoying driving. He is very encouraging and has a way of explaining things to you that just makes them click. Not once did Darren show frustration or change his tone of voice in a negative manor, which is what I’d experienced previously, and through that he built my confidence up massively. Darren always remains calm and never makes you feel fearful of any unknown situations, which he projects onto you and encourages you to be more relaxed. He helps you just enough while still allowing you to work things out for yourself. Along with this professionalism, as a person Darren is one of the nicest people I’ve met and is someone who genuinely wants you to do well. His friendly mannerisms encourage you and make you look forward to your lessons. He’s very easy to speak to in and out of the car, and is always happy to help you whenever you may need it. I started with Darren in mid May, and passed first time at the start of August. Thank you Darren for teaching me how to drive, particularly in a relatively small amount of time. Although I am so happy to have passed, I will genuinely really miss our lessons. You always made them so enjoyable and your kind words of wisdom will stay with me for a very long time. It has been a pleasure. Couldn’t recommend you enough.

Fantastic experience: The refresher lessons were a great way to rebuild my confidence after 7 years without driving. I would strongly recommend Darren to anyone who is feeling nervous about getting back behind the wheel (and also to new drivers - his teaching style is far better than my previous instructor!). Fantastic experience: Darren started teaching my son just before the COVID pandemic. Unfortunately lessons had to be suspended during the various lockdowns which caused a lack of continuity and disruption to test dates. However, throughout the period Darren communicated with us and kept us updated to the ever changing situation. In addition, his scheduling post-lockdown was amazing; giving priority to those with test dates and ensuring that the disruption did not cause undue stress for the pupil. I found Darren very accommodating, flexible, knowledgeable about his craft and a great communicator. This all lead to my son enjoying the experience and passing first time. Thanks Darren - we will be back when our youngest son turns 17!

Fantastic experience: Cannot rate Darren highly enough. He has brought my driving on massively and in my opinion is leagues better than anybody else I have had lessons with in the past. I am a very nervous person and he has always been incredibly understanding and calm which has resulted in me being the most confident I have ever been in my driving. Fantastic experience: I thoroughly recommend Darren, always very flexible and his instructions are clear and he is very patient with new learners. Although I unfortunately wasn't able to complete test with Darren due to covid situation and moving back home from uni, the lessons I did have with him were very enjoyable and is a shame I won't be able to continue with him!

Negative experience: Very slow and rude response, tried to book few lessons and didn’t receive answer for weeks, when he replied accused me for not booking in advance and told me that he is fully booked for the next half year..... I’m disappointed

Fantastic experience: I had learned previously with a different driving instructor and got into some bad habits. As soon as Darren started teaching me, those habits went away and i became a way better driver. He teaches in a calm and supportive manner which made my overall experience smooth and worry free. Fantastic experience: I failed my test quite a few times before having lessons with Darren. I honestly lost count but it was more than 5 and less than 10. I was starting to give up hope that I would ever pass. Darren helped me to identify the things that I was doing wrong and we gradually worked on them. He had a clear plan the whole way through and somehow always kept his cool during lessons, unlike some other instructors I've had. That was very helpful for me as his confidence just rubs off on you. Fantastic experience: Darren worked very hard to build up my confidence, which started very low due to a few accidents in the past and how late I learnt to drive. He took his time and was patient when I backslid in my confidence. I also felt in control of the car far quicker than I imagined I would, which was due to his instruction. Naturally have an even more positive view of GDI because I passed first time. I would recommend, especially if you're a bit more worried about learning to drive than others or think you'll need a lot of confidence building. As an added bonus he's also quite fun to talk to in the car, which helps you stay relaxed and also makes the whole experience more pleasant. If you're like me you needed quite a few lessons, so having someone you get on with definitely helps.

Fantastic experience: I would definitely recommend Darren to anyone looking for a driving instructor. I found his teaching style really suited the way I learn. Before I started lessons with Darren I used to feel really nervous about driving and not very confident in my ability. Darren’s style of teaching made me feel relaxed from my first lesson and that increased my confidence and definitely made me enjoy lessons more. Fantastic experience: Darren is extremely patient and an all-round excellent instructor. I'd had a bad experience in the past with my previous teacher, but Darren put my mind at rest and really helped my turn my driving around. I passed my test on Monday, and I couldn't have done it without Darren.

Fantastic experience: I passed first time with no minors and I owe that to Darren. He created a fun, relaxed atmosphere in the car which made learning to drive seemed easy. I had things going on at home when I was learning and Darren would often alter the lesson plan based on how I was doing that day. He always pointed out when I did something well and helped me learn from mistakes and quickly move on from them. He is a very fair guy, a very very good driving instructor and a genuinely nice person!.

Fantastic experience: Darren is a great driving instructor, who I would definitely recommend! Before driving lessons I'd had a lot experience with racing my own go-kart and had good knowledge about driving in general. However, it was Darren who taught me that driving on the road is very different to driving a kart, and the huge responsibility it involves. He was very relaxed, friendly and gave clear instructions. He taught me how to be a safe, controlled and more confident driver. His experience and knowledge of what the test involves really helped, pointing out key "hotspot" areas that you may have in your test, and the possible test routes. Thanks to him I passed first time, with no minor faults at all! I would highly recommend Darren to anyone wanting to learn to drive.

Fantastic experience: I'd put off driving for years, but after reading Darren's reviews online I decided to book a lesson. It was the best thing I could have done. After a number of bad experiences with previous instructors, I was a very nervous driver. From day one he made it his mission to build my confidence, not letting me give up when my nerves took over or doubt set in. After a number of lessons I not only felt I could one day pass, but actually started to enjoy driving. He went out of his way to send me videos & links that could help with me understanding the why behind what he was teaching me. Nearer the test we worked on building up my confidence, so I could not only drive, but believed I was a good driver. It absolutely worked- I had my test this morning and passed! Not only that but I have spent the past week being excited to show off my skills to the instructor, but I didn't feel nervous at all. I would say to anyone who is thinking about lessons with Darren - go for it! I couldn't have picked a better, more patient and fun instructor. Fantastic experience: Darren is a fantastic driving instructor. He is very supportive and he made sure I understood everything at all times. I thought learning to drive would be hard for me as I am a very nervous person but from the first lesson Darren made me feel at ease. He explain everything to me so well I could understand what I had to do and then we practiced it until I could do it by myself. I could always ask Darren if I had a question and sometimes the same question over and over about the theory and driving but he never minded explaining it to me again. Darren helped my pass my theory test first time and my driving test first time. Darren has giving me so much confidence I don't feel nervous at all when driving on my own. Fantastic experience: Darren is a brilliant driving instructor – very knowledgeable and makes the effort to get to know you and how you learn best. I’d taken lessons with another instructor about 5 years ago, but never felt confident enough to take a test. Darren has made me enjoy driving. He has a very calm, relaxed teaching style, and explains everything clearly (especially manoeuvres, which I’d always struggled with). I came to feel confident that I can drive safely & independently. Darren is flexible with lessons, and very fair and honest about how many you actually need. In the lead-up to my test Darren was incredibly helpful, with longer lessons and lots of support. I was nervous, but felt very well prepared, and I passed first time. I’m really grateful to Darren and couldn’t recommend him more!

Fantastic experience: Passed my driving test first time with Guildford Driving Instructor I was really nervous about learning to drive but Darren was a really great instructor with a calm way of teaching, preparing you for driving after the test, not just teaching you to pass. I really enjoyed learning to drive after dreading the idea for years. Through the whole process nothing felt rushed, but equally it wasn't dragged out unnecessarily. Fantastic experience: Darren is a great instructor. He is incredibly helpful, kind and understanding as well as being flexible with lessons. He knows exactly what you need to do to pass and made me feel confident in every area of driving so that I was fully prepared for my test. He also knew what I could improve on and tailored the lessons accordingly and gave me good advice for practising outside of lessons.
