Fantastic experience: I find it hard to imagine you'll find a better training centre with better tutors, vehicles and facilities anywhere else. Myself and a colleague have recently completed two days of driver training with Steve and founder Colin. Not only are both gentlemen knowledgeable, charismatic and humorous, they have the know how to get the most out of you and to transfer their expertise to you in a palatable manner. Facility wise, you just can't fault it, it doesn't get any better than using Millbrook Proving Ground. The scope of what can be taught in different areas is, in my eyes, incomparable. A Google review simply doesn't do CAT Driver Training justice, but believe me when I say that it's time and money well spent. Repeat custom is always a good sign of a good business. I sincerely hope to have the chance to return year on year, partly because of the courses available, but also because of the friendly, warm atmosphere the team there provides. Feel free to dispute what I have said, but I guarantee you can't. I wish the team all the best going into the new year and big thank you for our time with you.

Fantastic experience: A fantastic day of expert driving tuition provided by Steve. It was great to have the physics of driving explained as well as the learning the specific driving characteristics of my vehicle.

Fantastic experience: After a busy season it was great to get back to Colin and his team for my race level 4 course. Within an hour we were back where I left off from my level 3 which I did several months before. Its testament to the high level of instruction that got me back on pace so quickly. The whole day opened up my skill level to take back on track and has given me the confidence to apply it straight away. I wouldn't hesitate going back mid season for a re-fresh.

Fantastic experience: I spent a day at Milbrook being trained by Colin in my GT4. It was by far the best training I've ever received and even though I've been driving performance cars for many years I learned a lot. There was lots of driving time and the theory was well presented and easy to understand. Colin has a natural teaching ability and really put me at ease. It really was a lot of fun, the day flew by, very relaxed atmosphere. Hospitality was excellent too. I'll definitely be going back for more training. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I first met Colin as part if a Porsche group day and found the experience really good. After purchasing a 992 GT3 and taking it to Spa i thought i needed some more training with this particular car. I spike with Colin and booked a complete day one to one with him. Personally i thought the training and advice was great. I learnt more about me as a driver and a lot about the car. Realised what a fantastic car it is, how much more it can do and how to drive it safely within my abilities. Thanks again Colin.

Fantastic experience: An excellent day. I had a great deal of trepidation about the day on route to the site, but the instructors were excellent and everything was explained in such a reassuring way. They really know how to get the best out of you and the car that you are driving on the day.

Fantastic experience: I had two days of training as part of their track academy. I was super impressed by my instructor/coach Colin Hoad. He was able to use his engineering knowledge and experience to accurately explain difficult concepts in driving dynamics to a novice so I could start layering these in to my driving techniques. Milbrook is a great venue for this type of training it has everything. I’ve taken away so much information and techniques to practice and improve my road and track driving

I took loads from the day, learnt about my car in terms of balance and handling and have developed new skills that will enable me to get more out of my car in a safe and controlled manner. Fantastic experience: I had a great day at the Safety Driving course, I learnt lots and felt much more confident after. Absolutely loved the skid car part, never knew I could have so much fun with donuts and not be eating them! Our instructor Paul was brilliant, he made the day fun and interesting. Facilities are great, hospitality is warm and welcoming, instructors have vast experience, and the group is friendly. We all finished the day understanding our cars and the theories behind its behaviours better through our knowledgeable instructors and several exercises on various tracks at Millbrook. Fantastic experience: When I booked the Performance Driver Group Day through the Porsche Club of Great Britain I hoped I'd learn a few techniques and have a bit of fun in my new to me twenty year old 911. My hopes were more than met, the training was excellent and the different tracks and facilities were superb. We were very well looked after from start to finish by the team from CAT. More than everything though, I came away feeling a lot more confident in driving the car and a lot more confident in the car's ability to handle whatever I could throw at it. I still have a lot more to learn and practice and hope to be back later in the year on another course, hopefully under Steve's great tuition again.

Fantastic experience: Attended my second driving day with Colin, working on track skills that can be applied to both road driving and track days. The day was superbly planned, with plenty of different activities to practice the new skills, and Colin is an excellent coach. The facilities at Milbrook are second to none. Fantastic experience: Had a super day and I wold thoroughly recommend a day with CAT! I got to know the car much better, enjoyed pushing the car (and myself) out of my comfort zone. Fantastic experience: Just completed an excellently run Performance Driver training day. We covered far more ground and in much greater depth than I was expecting, and the instruction was superb. Being asked to take your hands off the wheel at 120 mph or practice emergency braking at 70 mph are not things you are likely to do anywhere else... Brilliant.

Fantastic experience: Probably the most enjoyable and instructive time I have had behind the wheel since I passed my test nearly 40 years ago! Paul is a first class instructor and fellow petrol head, and his approach to learning was conducted at a pace that I was happy with, as a result, the skills I learnt were easy to remember. CAT is an incredibly professional and well run operation, by people who clearly adore what they do. I cannot recommend them highly enough, if you are thinking of doing something like this, call them and find out what suits you best and book it, you will not be disappointed! Fantastic experience: What a great learning day had! Colin, Paul, Jo and Hannah made our group feel very welcome and at home. Whether an experienced, keen driver seeking improvements, or just wanting to grasp some performance basics, Colin and Paul made our personal objectives their own. Increasing from car handling fundamentals and dynamics to high performance driving and track use, the building blocks were all brought together later in the day and practiced 1-2-1. Came away at the end of a brilliant day with a much better understanding of my own performance car dynamics and limits coupled with enhanced driving skills and practices. Will be back for more!

All the team are very knowledgeable in their area and this was enhanced by Chris & Pete from Center Gravity who arranged the day. Fantastic experience: I did a club day with CAT and I had the best time. Colin, Jo and Paul were excellent hosts, very friendly and welcoming. Everything was explained very clearly before we set out to do each exercise. When a day is this much fun you almost don't realise how much you are learning. Colin's skill at getting across his knowledge is outstanding. He quickly assessed my ability and got to work. The results were immediate and with practice will last a lifetime. I cannot recommend the training I received at CAT highly enough. I had been considering training with them for a while so when the opportunity to go on a club day (instructor/pupil ratio 1:3) I grabbed it. I now plan to go back for some 1:1 tuition. Book, you will not regret it.

Fantastic experience: Thanks Colin and Paul and Jo and Lynne (CAT) and Chris and Pete and Holly (Center Gravity) for combining the software (advanced driving skills) with the hardware (advanced suspension set-up) to optimise my 993 for fast road driving and to optimise me as a driver. I learned so much in just one day, from knowing how to stop fast to knowing how to trail brake. With new found confidence in the car and myself I can't wait to take those lessons with me on the open roads. A great experience all round. I can't wait for the next one.

Fantastic experience: Technical driver training explained well. I am very pleased that I signed up for this driver training day as I wish to enter a season of racing. Paul and his colleagues helped us through a day of driver techniques to enable us to drive both on the road and on track with confidence. The technical information explained why we should use these techniques and how our vehicles will react in such a way. I have been to many track days and test drives with car manufacturers over the years and no one has ever explained the technical side of why we should drive in such a way. I have gained more experience in one day than in the last thirty years. Big thanks to Paul for helping me move on to a lifelong dream in racing.

To have 40 years of driving unpicked & rebuilt into a logical process that you can rewind & repeat at any track is fantastic. Fantastic experience: This was an absolutely outstanding experience, and I feel very fortunate to get the day as a gift for my birthday. The day got off to a great start - Steve (my instructor) was approachable and friendly, but most importantly was really knowledgeable about my specific car. We had a great chat about its strengths and what it could do. Once we got out and about - well, what a place, with a real variety of different areas to try and test new skills on. Everything was really well explained and demonstrated by Steve, and he was constantly reassuring about what he felt I could do. He really encouraged me to push myself further, but always with the caveat to stop if I started to feel uncomfortable. With this approach, I was able to experience driving in a way I never had before and understand both what the car could do, and what I could do. The skills I learnt I now use every day, and has most definitely made me a much better driver. I can't recommend CAT Training enough - great location, real enthusiasts and huge knowledge makes it far and away the best training I've had in a car. Looking forward to when I can book on for my next day!

Fantastic experience: I wasn't sure if the course would be of much value as I've done a few track days and some racing but having just taken delivery of a new Porsche GT car I was interested in exploring the limits before going on track. What a superb day. I was partnered with Colin who owns the business and learnt so much about the car and my driving style. I was able to explore the limits in perfect safety and at no time felt our of control even though we were on the limit. Can't recommend this highly enough. A fantastic day.

Fantastic experience: A very well run and organised day of tuition with a perfect mix of technical explanation and practical exercises. The instructors were friendly, patient and very knowledgeable. I came away with a much better understanding of how my car handles at the limit and how to safely extract more performance from it. I could not recommend CAT Driver Training highly enough.

Positive experience: I took part in a 'Performance - Track day' course at UTAC Millbrook. I'll put the summary up top and then some of my thoughts of the day. Summary: The course costs £535, you use your own car, and perform different driving exercises over a full day (0830-1630) which results in about 90 minutes of actual driving activity. You will experience the 'mile straight' performing high speed braking activities, the 'high speed banked track' travelling up to 120 MPH, the 'dynamic pad' exploring the limits of grip on the car and finally the 'handling circuit' which for me was the highlight of the day. The organisation on the day was exceptional and there was truly nothing more the team could do for you, both Paul & Steve (instructors) were really friendly and knowledgeable not only about driving techniques but car set up too which was really refreshing. Behind the scenes Jo makes the day run smoothly and ensures you have all the refreshments you need to keep your energy throughout the day. 6 people were on the course with 2 instructors, you only drive with an instructor on site which results in quite a bit of standing around and chatting with the other participants, I feel the day would have run better with a ratio of 2-1 rather than 3-1 personally. The actual content of the course is great and this would have been a 5 star review if; - The ratio of instructors was 2-1 not 3-1. - The entrance of the UTAC building was more suitable for low vehicles (you may scrape the underneath of your car). - Enhanced lunch / pastries breakfast included. Overall a good day, valuable leaning points, great team, great facility, but sadly compared to other similar activities I've done felt poor value for money in comparison.

Fantastic experience: All aspects of this experience day were impeccably organised. The CAT team were very welcoming and professional. The instuction was excellent and the series of driving scenarios were challenging, rewarding and enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: A tremendous experience with the CAT Driver Training team. During the session I learnt so much about my car, the instruction was first class and supported with great detail as to how and why the car responds to driver input, this was then all put in to practice behind the wheel. Fantastic experience: Another great day with Colin, Paul & Jo of CAT DT for my follow up "Cornering Masterclass" session. Expectations exceeded once more and it proved to be a great way to not only revisit some core skills, but also have some expert guidance from Colin to fine tune some of my technique for an upcoming Alps Tour and possible race series next year. Colin helped with my objectives that we discussed at the start of the day, which by the end, had all been addressed. This is still the best driving tuition service I have experienced and has helped me accelerate my driving capabilities far beyond the usual track day instruction. The mix of theory with practical exercises, excellent facilities at Millbrook and the keen eye of Colin all combine to provide a peerless driving course. I look forward to coming back again soon :)

Fantastic experience: Excellent training by highly experienced trainers with amazing knowledge of Porsches. Training moves through a logical process, mastering each element before moving on to the next. Even though the experience involves high speed driving, it is incredibly safe. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to improve their road driving or track day experiences

Fantastic experience: If you are interested in becoming a better driver and want the best experience you could possibly have, I have to tell you - this is where it is. CAT are second to none. Paul my instructor for the day was amazing. Huge knowledge. Patient, Kind, Humble, Insightful and a Great Instructor. It’s a full on day, you’ll be really tired! The learning starts the second you get into the car and builds throughout the day. This isn’t just driving fast; this is a new level of understanding that cements new levels of understanding that you will apply for the rest of your life. On road, or track you’ll be faster, safer, and more in control than ever before. If you do one thing with your life to be a better driver – it should be this course. I genuinely feel indebted to the CAT team for an amazing day. Yes, it isn’t cheap, but it is great value for money and worth every penny. I smiled for most of the day and all the way home. Fantastic experience: The training I received at CAT was truly exceptional. I did the Track Performance Level 1 course, using my own Caterham 360 for part of the course and CAT’s Clio Cup car for the remainder. If your objective is to go much, much faster safely, then I cannot recommend this course highly enough. The key skills – which included braking techniques (trail and cadence, for example), power delivery, pedal techniques, steering inputs, and stringing together compound corners – were all seamlessly woven together as the day went along, and the practical employment of the skills was brilliantly reinforced with very helpful technical explanations of the dynamics that underpin the relevant parts of the car’s structure – tyres, brakes, suspension, power delivery, etc. CAT’s access to the extraordinary facility at UTAC is also unique. I used the mile straight (for straight-line braking exercises) and the five-lane oval circuit for fast changes of position and high-speed driving skills. The dynamics pad – a huge area of open tarmac – was used to practise things like trail braking into a bend marked by cones, and learning how to save the car when the rear steps out as the limit of adhesion is breached when driving one of the painted circles on the tarmac. The isolated skills practised in these parts of the facility then got joined together on the race track in the most exhilarating way imaginable. It's not cheap, but it’s worth every penny. I’ve been on the receiving end of lots of driver training over the years, and this is better – by miles – than anything I’ve received before. I’ve also spent 25 years as a teacher, so I know a good teacher when I see one. Do this course.

Fantastic experience: Another very enjoyable, insightful and educational day spent with Colin Hoad at CAT Driver Training. The day was spent looking at various techniques to enhance my existing capabilities and to fine tune my circuit driving technique. Some of these were either entirely new to me or I'd not previously considered them in the context in which they were employed, so I came away from the day with a very worthwhile uplift in my skillset and the array of driving techniques I can apply to the track. Very highly recommended. I will be back to CAT for further coaching very soon.

After spending the full day with Colin at the incomparable UTAC proving ground I am now able to corner more quickly, with less risk and exploiting the handling characteristics of the car in a way that I did not understand before. The course method of building up skills individually (braking, steering, throttle use etc.) and then putting these together really works. This is delivered in way that combines demonstration, explanation of the theory and loads of practical time at the wheel means that you cover ground quickly and it goes in. Of course this only works if you have an instructor who can a) drive a race car b)knows how to teach c)is an expert and can relate to your car and knows why cars work the way they do. Colin is undoubtedly an expert driver, car development engineer and teacher

Fantastic experience: Cat Driver Training's Road Driving Academy is an exceptional performance driving school that delivers top-quality instruction and training for both beginner and experienced drivers. The school's commitment to safety, skill-building, and hands-on learning make it an excellent choice for anyone looking to improve their driving skills, boost their confidence on the road or track. I had a great day with Paul which was full of learning as well as hands on driving experience, allowing to implement what we discussed. I highly recommend the school to everyone irrespective of the driving ability and experience, but would suggest to really think through the objectives, as this will really help to optimise your learning and get the most of your time with CAT. Fantastic experience: The CAT Race 1 training day was most enjoyable and I learnt a lot of new techniques. Also, Colin's knowledge and experience enabled him to devise a race cornering strategy based on the characteristics of my pre-war sports racing car. A few days after the course I won my first race, a VSCC allcomers handicap at Silverstone, which is testimony to the quality of the instruction that I received.

Totally focussed on your own objectives and encouraging you to push as hard (or as little) as you are comfortable doing. I learned so much about my car in the sessions that I had, will be returning for a whole day one-to-one in the very near future.

Fantastic experience: Had an absolutely first-rate day of track training with Colin at CAT. I'm an experienced driver and biker who's done quite a lot of advanced training over the years, and it's fair to say this day transformed my understanding of how my car works and how to get the best out of it, as well as being massively fun from start to finish. I ended the day faster, smoother and safer all at the same time. It is not a cheap day out, but definitely much, much cheaper than either buying a faster car or crashing the one you have trying to go faster without knowing how!

Fantastic experience: Great service and experience throughout - from booking, communication to the actual day. I took the track level 1 performance and learnt so much about myself and my car. Paul was fantastic, encouraging, challenging and did everything to ensure that I got the most out of the day. He took into account my learning style and gave me insight and the "why" in conjunction with lots of practice, which is how I learn best. I came away feeling that I had learnt new skills, be a better driver and more confident. I will definitely be looking into level 2. Thoroughly recommend CAT, the course, the team, set up and Paul.

Fantastic experience: Road Advanced Performance - L3. A great opportunity to understand and experience my car's sporty characteristics under the guidance of CAT trainer Paul. Paul is very confidence inspiring, encouraging you to experience the limits of your car's grip under braking and cornering. Throughout the day Paul's explanations of the technical aspects of brakes and suspension dynamics, under/oversteer were expertly communicated. Sometimes, at first, I felt a little out of my comfort zone but this is why I chose this course and with a little encouragement from Paul, I found myself controlling the car like never before. This feeling of a new found confidence is difficult to beat and will stay with me whenever I drive the car. Thanks to all at CAT, especially Paul.

Fantastic experience: Had a fabulous time on the Advanced Performance Course with CAT Driver Training! The instructors were extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about what they do. Everyone took the time to answer all our questions and make sure we felt safe and secure in every task. As well learning all of the important safety info, we all had a blast driving some cool cars and learning new skills. Would highly recommmend.

Fantastic experience: Overall a great experience during my Performance Driver “Track” Day! The grounds we've completed this track day at have a very unique and extensive range of environments, which is unlike anything I've seen. The instructors have also been amazing, explaining the theory before each activity we've had to undertake which really added to the experience. I've particulary enjoyed the skidding exercises which made me appreciate how safe my car really is and that I shouldn't be afraid to turn while aggresively braking. Really recommend this to anyone who manages to find a free slot! :)

Fantastic experience: This was a great day of driving. I had already done this course before but wanted to try it again in a new car. We started on the mile straight mainly focusing on braking at different speeds and seeing the difference between ABS and threshold braking and that highlighted just how good a modern car's ABS is at getting you to a stop quickly. That was followed by some manoeuvres on the banked circuit although the outside lane was unfortunately closed, then we spent time on the handling circuit and the Alpine loops, both of which were great fun and really put the new car through its paces. All-in-all, a great day out with an attentive and very knowledgeable instructor. I'll be back again to move to the next level of training.

Fantastic experience: Great day - some comments for other disabled drivers to be aware of Really good day with CAT driver training. The days driving was well organise, instructive and great fun. Special thanks to Paul my instructor who was very knowledgeable on both porsche cars and engineering in detail plus a encouraging instructor and to Lynne for the organisation before and on the day. A word of caution for disabled attendees (I'm in a wheelchair). The central base for CAT is not wheelchair friendly either for the classrooms or toilets. This wasn't a problem on the day as it was boiling hot so theory sessions where held outside and there was an accessible toilet at the other main location for the day. This could be an issue in less good weather, so please let Lynne know if you think you may have an issue Overall, great day, great fun, great people

Fantastic experience: An unparalleled training delight. The team at CAT were a joy to train with. One of our drivers had a health issue, (nothing related to the training!), and the CAT team helped to sort onward travel and were so helpful throughout the experience. From a training point of view, Paul really knew his stuff and the upskill factor from understanding why a performance car behaves in the way that it does, really started to make sense. I feel like I have learnt real world skills for both fast/safe road and track driving.

Fantastic experience: Superb driver training. As an experienced high performance driver, I booked training to improve my skills on track with a new and very expensive car. Colin is brilliant at not only identifying areas in which improvements can be made, but with Millbrook Proving Ground at this disposal enabled me to experience working on these aspects in many different scenarios. Equally as important is Colin's care to understand my mental limits, then help me overcome them by explaining and demonstrating the engineering involved, so I could trust my car's behaviour even more and build confidence. I have walked away with the ability to drive tracks more confidently, safer and faster, as well as an understanding in 12 key areas for me to develop in the coming months.

Fantastic experience: 100% fantastic day. I've never had the chance to drive my car at the limit in such a consistent and controlled manner. Spending the day separating and practicing individual skills was massively helpful (and extremely fun!). I will definitely attend another CAT day. Recommended!

Fantastic experience: I did a CAT Driver Training level 3. Had a great day. My instructor Steve was brilliant. I have been driving for 42 years and was amazed how much I learned I only wish I had done this many years ago. I would recommend everyone to do this course and would recommend this company. The staff are very friendly they make you feel very comfortable. As I said I wish I I done this many years ago so I would recommend you to go on this course and you will be thankful you are never to old.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic day with CAT Driver Training. I spent the day with Paul doing the ‘Track Performance L1’ course. Paul was a superb instructor, and made a real effort to structure the things he was teaching me in way that suited my learning style. I have much more of an understanding about what both myself and my vehicle are capable of, but also, crucially, an understanding of why the car can behave the way it does in different situations. This is important not only because it means I have an understanding of how I can influence the car to behave how I want it to, but also because it also adds predictability and control to a very dynamic situation. I feel like I’ve learnt a huge amount, but also had a huge amount of fun in the process. One of the best experiences I’ve had. Thank you CAT, and Paul.
