Jodie is a very patient and friendly instructor who helped me to gain the confidence i needed whilst learning to drive . Jodie explained everything well and tailored the build up of learning to pass my test in a way that suited me and my learning . She was always super patient with me, very flexible with the lessons as well despite her busy schedule. She always made sure to make me feel comfortable during the drives and always pointed out areas for improvement!

Fantastic experience: Passed today with Sherwood Driving School and had a great experience - Rachel was brilliant and supported me the entire way! The lessons were super structured with a training tracker approach and helpful visual examples. She also went the extra mile to work around my new schedule so we could get to test. Whenever I felt unconfident or nervous she always knew the right thing to say. Thank you again, I'm definitely going to miss the Saturday mornings and all our chats!

Fantastic experience: I honestly cannot speak highly of my instructor, Matt! I was very nervous about learning to drive, after a shaky experience some years previous, but he put me at ease as soon as i got in the driving seat! He was very patient, explained everything thoroughly and genuinely made each lesson an amazing one to look forward to! Matt is a super funny, chilled guy and this helped me though anything i was struggling with and he never made me feel rushed. I genuinely don’t think i’d have passed first time without him having so much faith in me, and him encouraging me to have faith in myself. I cannot speak highly enough of Matt and would 100% recommend him to anyone and everyone!

At the end of each lesson he would go through everything with me and make a forward plan for next lesson. I couldn't recommend this driving school enough. Fantastic experience: I went with sherwood after my friend had Rachel as her instructor and was telling me about her, she sounded like exactly the type of instructor that I needed! And she was I passed first time which I’m delighted with because I was so nervous. Rachel was amazing & always encouraging me. She’s calm and gives you the confidence you need. I always said I couldn’t have an instructor who puts you down because it would make me ten times worse! But Rachel was the complete opposite which is what I needed! She believed in me and it paid off ! Thanks Rachel !

Fantastic experience: Just passed my driving test on first attempt today, thanks to my instructor Sheila. Really impressed with her way of doing driving lessons. I felt really relaxed during my driving lessons and never feel nervous due to my instructors support. Honestly, My Instructor, Sheila is fabulous and she supported me through out. She always follow a check list and marked my level of learning at the end of each lesson and also asked me which area I struggle, so I got the opportunity to practice more on weaker areas, which definitely helped me to pass my driving test on the first attempt. I already recommended my instructor Sheila to couple of my friends and colleagues, who are awaiting to start driving lessons. I Would definitely recommend learning with Sherwood driving school & specifically driving instructor Sheila.

Negative experience: Just sat behind one of the instructors and they don't tell the students to pull over when they are causing a tail back.

Fantastic experience: I have been learning with Sheila for quite a while as we endured a few pauses over covid, my pregnancy and other bumps in the road. :) Sheila always encouraged me to keep going. Every time I got back into the car I instantly felt at ease. Sheila is patient, kind and friendly. I’ll really miss my lessons each week. Negative experience: I was anxious with driving due to past traumas and really wanted to learn at my own pace. But Jonathan, my previous instructor in Mansfield continually put down any confidence I tried building which made me even more anxious in every lesson. He was impatient, seemed to enjoy talking down on me, called me "silly" on several occasions, felt the constant self-absorbed need to state that his advice was "brilliant" and was too egotistical to believe he did anything wrong when I tried talking calmly about these to him and about my anxiety. He simply shrugged and said he didn't think he did anything wrong, that he wasn't the right instructor for me and that he didn't care if I wanted to continue with him or not. Also I knew I wasn't ready for my test and kept telling him that I would push the test forwards if any cancellations came up. But if I made any mistake while driving, instead of giving me feedback straight away that I could learn from, he would rather first talk down on me, state I keep making silly mistakes, make insinuations about not having common sense, and then mention repeatedly that I'm not ready for the test! Before even explaining what I did wrong! This demotivated me and honestly did not help with improving my confidence in driving. Also his teaching methods were questionable. Like one instance of asking me to park in a tight left sided parking space, which is something that isn't reasonable to ask a learner driver. No one would expect that or ask that even during a practical test. Most experienced drivers even avoid parking in tight spaces. But when I tried avoiding it, he abruptly took the wheel and used that as another opportunity to call me silly and make derogatory remarks. I'm sure this company has good instructors but avoid Jonathan in Mansfield unless you enjoy being put down by a self-absorbed bully. Learning to drive is already a highly tense situation. You don't need someone that has a 'one size fits all' teaching approach especially if you struggle with anxiety around driving. Waste of money in my opinion. I hate giving bad reviews but I honestly have to write this because that was an awful experience. Out of every week, despite my mentally draining and busy job, I never looked forward to the one day a week I had my lessons with him. I honestly hope he would do better. Try to learn to teach anxious drivers, instead of shrugging it off and saying you're not the right instructor for them. Have a better attitude. Not everyone learns a skill at the same pace or with the same methods! Also it is VERY unprofessional to call someone "silly" in any type of work environment, and this needs to be highlighted and reported. 0 stars for him. UPDATE to response: I still believe in my 0 star rating. I passed my practical with 1 minor a while ago, which I won't have achieved if I stayed with Jonathan. I still believe our lessons were a waste of money and a continuous drain on my self-confidence in driving. All I needed was a teacher who could build confidence and not constantly call someone "silly" or "lacking in common sense" at every opportunity. Of course, he would never admit to that, but I just want him to learn to be patient with everyone he teaches. I was never rude to him during our lessons, but he constantly felt the need to talk down on me.

Fantastic experience: I would recommend this Driving School to anyone. Being a older learner I needed extra encouragement to get me through. Matt guided me into being a confident driver and that I can do it. Matt supported me in every way, I couldn't have wished for a better instructor.

Fantastic experience: I had Rachel as my instructor and couldn’t recommend her enough!! My Saturday mornings won’t be the same anymore knowing we won’t have our chats during our lessons! She helped fit me in and worked around my schedule so I could complete my lessons. Rachel sent me helpful videos which supported the lessons. The feedback given after each lesson was even more useful and the overall experience with Sherwood driving made my learning experience easier and convenient. 100/10!!

Fantastic experience: Yesterday, I passed the practical test for the first go and I am really happy. My instructor, Sheila, was great and I really enjoyed all lessons with her. As a foreigner, I had a bit of language problem, but she taught me nicely and I am very happy now.

I felt really involved in the structure of the lessons, especially towards the end when it was all about fine tuning - Sheila actively encouraged me to feed back what I felt I needed to practice. My instructor, Steve, was firm but fair, if I messed up, he would tell me - no sugar coating. If you’re looking for a cheap, profession and fair driving school, this is the place!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been taking lessons on and off over a period of 25 years, and for various reasons I’ve never got anywhere near test level. I developed a fear of driving and was ready to throw in the towel until my partner suggested trying an automatic as in the past I’ve struggled with gear changes and clutch control. Sherwood was recommended to me, and I started having lessons with Matt who straightaway I could tell was miles ahead of any of my other instructors. I can’t recommend him highly enough! We had many ups and downs due mainly to my confidence issues, but Matt was always patient and understanding, whilst still being firm and critical when needed. And I knew that if he had enough faith in me to put me in for my test that I was ready. As a result I sailed through first time !!! I will recommend Sherwood to anyone wanting to drive as my experience has been first class. Thanks for sticking with me Matt and getting me through my test!

Lessons are always in that sweet spot of being challenging enough to keep them interesting, whilst not so difficult that I feel like I can't cope with what's going on. Would highly recommend!

Couldn’t have asked for a better driving instructor she made my experience very pleasurable. She kept me calm and relaxed throughout all of my lessons. I couldn’t have done it without her.
