Our comment from DrivingSchoolsTOP.co.uk about Harley's Rider Training:
Harley's Rider Training is a renowned motorcycle training school in the UK, well-regarded for its passionate instructors and high-quality training courses. Customers consistently highlight the professionalism and supportive nature of the staff, making the learning experience enjoyable and confidence-building.
Many learners, including those new to motorcycling, have shared positive experiences, often referring to the patience and expertise of instructors like Stuart, Kenny, and Cath. The course delivery is structured yet friendly, allowing students to grasp the necessary skills effectively. The complimentary introductory lessons are also noted as a great way to ease into motorcycling.
However, there have been some reports of inconsistency in instructor demeanor. While many instructors are recognized for their humor and encouragement, a few reviews mention experiences with less patient or abrasive teaching styles, which have left some students feeling uncomfortable. Despite a handful of negative critiques, the overwhelming majority recommend Harley's for its commitment to rider safety and customer satisfaction.
In summary, Harley's Rider Training is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to learn how to ride, with a strong focus on safety, encouragement, and a positive learning environment.
Harley's Rider Training: Reviews
Positive experience: I would have rated this place much higher if it wasn't for my experience today, which has left me really unsure if I want to continue learning. Up until now, everyone I have dealt with has been truly wonderful from my intro lesson with Fraser to communication with the lovely lady on reception and the other polite gentleman that dealt with my telephone bookings. There were also 2 men that may have been training instructors today (?) that were so supportive. I was truly excited for my CBT today but those feelings changed within an hour to the feeling of dread all day. I couldn't wait for it to be over and I came so close to walking out at lunchtime, which i wish I had. I usually don't write negative reviews without trying to solve them in person but after talking to the instructor 1-1 about my disappointment with their training methods as feedback, I received little compassion or remorse back. He was rude, swore a lot, aggressive, condescending and decided it appropriate to vape inside around us and all day. Initially I thought he was taking a "cruel to be kind " approach for safety but he spoke to the other people on my course in such a degrading manner. This upset me but it wasn't my business so I carried on. The tables turned onto me in the afternoon and I can only ask..how is a learner expected to stay calm on the road when they have an instructor determined to just shout at them and insult them for 2 hours? It seemed I did something wrong every minute and I explained so many times I could not hear him in the earpiece but was met with aggression every time for any decisions I made (without a working earpiece). I even said I could eventually hear but it really wasn't clear but when we carried on and was confused with directions I was shouted at. I accept instructors have to keep us safe but riding in fear of being shouted at for every single thing you do wrong is not a good teaching method. I've now read back the reviews and it seems I'm not the only person who may be concerned about this person so I only ask Harley's.." how can you allow an employee to continue with their inappropriate teaching style when nobody is happy and you know it is of a detriment to your future clients?"
Hi Preena, Thanks for your review. I'm sorry you didn't have a great time today. We will look into your concerns and Gordon the manager will come back to you. Jim Harley
Fantastic experience: The staff are great the lesson i done was great passed my cbt and so did my husband I would recommend them to everyone
Thanks Angela. Glad you had a great day
Fantastic experience: I went in for a CBT, didn’t know a lot, not extremely familiar to UK road rules, but Stuart was amazing, he helped me though everything, my face was hurting at the end of the day tho, cause Stuart was making us laugh so much throughout, I think he should start doing standup…i’m sure he’ll kill it there as well, but honestly, such a lovely experience, if you need to sort out your licences….this is the place for you…no cap.
Thanks Gaurav We won't tell Stuart he's funny tho...its bad enough work with him now:-) Ride safe mate and thanks for the great review
Fantastic experience: Great instructor Plenty of patience My confidence grew all day and that is because of the instructor big thank you
Fantastic experience: Did the free lesson, which gave an a great intro into the world of motorbikes and a first taste of riding. Had my CBT booked for a couple weeks after, mid-October and thankfully got a nice day. Spent the day learning from instructor Stuart, who was very patient, friendly and gave excellent instruction both in theory and the practical. Excellent experience with Harley’s, had fun on the Sinnis Terrain and Stuart gave us the knowledge, skills and confidence to continue to the next step! Eye opening for driving in general, I would recommend it!
Fantastic experience: Completed my CBT today with the guys, great instruction, course was taught at a good pace and all manoeuvres explained in easy to understand manner, the free lesson the guys offer is invaluable and really helped build confidence for today. I will be back in a few months to progress my training
Negative experience: CBT, compulsory basic training. Which is a day course for new riders with 0 experience. I joined the CBT with 3 other riders who apparently had a Pre-CBT course from them which is (£80 1.5 hour) and I’m brand new to motorcycles. At the beginning the instructor asked if I want to go for automatic but I decided why not give it a try and where else should I learn it. Sat on the bike around 9am started working on basic controls while the 3 others were already doing more complex exercises, I was left behind and after an hour the instructor told me I won’t be getting my CBT (remember it’s a whole day course for £180) they gave me a feeling of literally gave up teaching me, around 10am I started working on doing circles in an 8. Took more time and practice (obviously since I’m a new rider) and the instructor just stopped me and asked me to go home. I only had 2 hours on the bike that’s it, they tried to ask me to book their pre CBT courses which I think is pointless. If a £180 CBT courses ends up like this how will a £80 course go, can’t imagine. Technically I’ll call it a scam. Go learn somewhere else
Hi Kai. Sorry you didn't have a great day today. I've had a report from your Instructor. Maybe the reason that ypu stared at 9 was that ypu turned up over 1/2 an hr late for the start of the course at 8 am but we tried to keep ypu on the course even thought it disrupted everyone else. We do offer a free introductory lesson similar to the pre cbt but ypu never booked that to see how you would get on. You also didn't book directly with us so we didn't charge you anything. My information from the instructor is that even though we recommend a scooter you dropped the bike over about 5 times before he called a halt. Even afterthought cbt was stopped we gave you time with another instructor ( affectively a pre CBT !) Free you still couldn't keep the bike upright. We therefore stopped your training today for your and our safety.. you should take so.e basic training to gain basic bike control before attempting cbt again maybe get some time on a bicycle. There is no reason for us to prove our training methods are right and fair as you did thst by stating that those on the corse with pre training or assessment were all onto advanced manoeuvres whilst ypu were still trying to move of and stop safely. Fell free to call us back if you'd like to discuss further. Jim Harley
Fantastic experience: Done my CBT with Fraser on Sun 3rd. Really nice guy, very good instructor. Made everything very easy to understand, was very patient with everyone and was very clear in his instructions. Would highly recommend him and Harleys for anyone who's getting into bikes.
Fantastic experience: I started thinking about going for a CBT, and maybe ride a 125 CC bike, in June 2024. I had some experience with motorcycles, but not in the UK. I tried contacting some schools that were closer to my place, however, was unable to get a response. When I contacted Harley's, they not only responded right away, but were very helpful in explaining the entire process, and in getting the CBT booked. The day of CBT was super fun with Stuart. His passion for riding bikes was contagious. At the end of the session, he encouraged me to go for DAS instead of buying a 125 CC as I had some previous experience of riding. So, I signed up for DAS sessions. The next session (and a later one) was with Fraser. I found Fraser’s approach very positive, where he would make riding seem easy and enjoyable. Majority of the sessions for Mod1 and Mod2 were with Kenny. It was an absolutely amazing experience. With Kenny’s instructions, I could see a considerable improvement in my riding with each and every session. I was able to get a full license in less than four months of ‘thinking about going for CBT’. A big thanks to Kenny, Stuart, Fraser, and the team at Harley’s. Would recommend you 100% to anyone in and around Glasgow who is looking for a motorcycle training school.
Cheers pal ..ride safe !
Fantastic experience: Passed my CBT thanks to Stuart being very "geeky" with his explanations and making things easy to understand as well as interesting. It'll definitely be doing my mod1/2 at Harley's.
Fantastic experience: It was an absolute joyful ride since the start of cbt in Aug and to Mod 2 pass in October. Big shout to Kenny, a knowledgeable instructor! And great experience getting all his valuable feedback. Would recommend this place100%.
Fantastic experience: Just sat my CBT with Stuart and having never been on a bike before Stuart was excellent, very patient and helpful. His explanation on things on when you were doing something wrong was easy to understand which made it easier to rectify your mistakes. Will definitely be back for some lessons to boost my confidence and to make me a better safer rider. Would recommend Harleys to anyone thinking of starting their bike journey, thanks again guys and big up to Stuart 5-Star Instructor.
Fantastic experience: So lots to cover, but I will start with how helpful everyone has been through my learning experience. Even more so I have had an unfortunate time of having my MOD 1 cancelled on the day due to examiner not able to arrive in my timeslot to do the test. Needless to say this wasn't any of Harley's fault but one of DVLA and yet they managed to get me a slot in for the week after which was very helpful. Going forward I had to fill out a claims form to get some money back but the amount of stress and back and forth I had to go through with DVLA was enough to make a grown man cry (and I have 3 young children, so the extra stress is uncalled for in my life). I called in to Harley's very own Gordon, who was more than happy to help and get in touch with DVLA to stop me from losing my head. Honestly should have asked him earlier because it would have saved so much stress. I got a lovely email back from DVLA after Gordon spoke to them on the Monday with a written apology and refund for my out of pocket claim. Thanks so much Gordon and everyone else in Harley's who walked me through this mess.
Fantastic experience: Great training school... Great bikes... Great people.... Add your passion for motorcycle and you have all you need..
Fantastic experience: I’m really happy to have passed my CBT test! Huge thanks to Mr. Stuart for being an excellent and polite instructor. He trained us really well, along with the other instructors, who were also fantastic. This was my first time taking the CBT, and it was a great experience.
Fantastic experience: My husband passed his cbt with Harleys, absolutely fantastic place to come learn how to ride. Unfortunately due to a medical condition I can no longer sit my cbt test , however i would like to say a special thanks to Gordon the manager for dealing with my enquiry professionally and effectively getting my refund. Hope to book in the near future. Mrs Wylie
Fantastic experience: I recently completed my CBT with Harley's Rider Training, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From start to finish, the team was incredibly professional, friendly, and made the entire process enjoyable. The instructors were clear and concise in their guidance, ensuring I fully understood each step without feeling rushed. Their customer service was excellent, and they made booking and attending the course straightforward and hassle-free. I highly recommend Harley's Rider Training to anyone looking to get their CBT or improve their riding skills. Thanks again to the whole team for a fantastic experience!
Thank you Johnny. Ride safe mate
Fantastic experience: I initially had a couple of not-so-great experiences with Harley's Rider Training in East Kilbride, but I’m happy to say things have drastically improved since the new management took over. It’s clear they’ve made major changes for the better! For me, it’s not about the mistakes made but how they’re handled, and the team now seems to be on top of everything. Stuart took me for my CBT, and he was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. For my DAS training, Frazer was excellent—I requested him for all my lessons, and I would highly recommend him to anyone. The whole experience has really turned around, and I can confidently recommend them for rider training. Keep up the great work!
Fantastic experience: I went for my free trial/training today and I have no bad points. Absolutely loved the hour and a half spent with Stevie. Great instructor that made me feel comfortable and also made me feel that it was ok to make mistakes. Very friendly and approachable. Was able to have all my questions answered with regards to motorcycle safety, manoeuvrability etc... I look forward to my next sessions. Also would like to say that it is a huge help that all motorcycle gear are provided should we need them. I highly recommend Harley's Rider Trainning.
Fantastic experience: I just would like to thank Gordon, very much appreciated and helped me out so much
Thanks Alan glad he could help..we'll pass on your regards. Ride safe
Fantastic experience: Honestly, my first visit was a little rocky. I did make it clear to the instructor I'd never been on a bike before and didn't drive, but it felt like he was expecting everyone to be at the same level despite 2 of the other attendees having a lot of experience with dirt-biking. I then booked the pre-CBT, and had Stuart for that lesson. He was fantastic, patient, and encouraging. When I made mistakes, he'd let me know why they were made, rather than just telling me to try again. This helped no end, and when he was teaching low-speed clutch control, his explanations also sorted out the issues I'd been having with setting off and stopping. On his advice, I booked my CBT and got a different Stuart. There were 4 attendees - 2 used to riding scooters and doing CBT on them, and myself and one other person doing CBT on manuals with no real experience. Stuart took his time, was patient with us all, and also explained why I was stalling, or wobbling, rather than just telling me do something again. The explanations are far more helpful for a learning experience. We then ended up on the roads in the afternoon, just myself and the other manual learner, and although there were a couple of blips (not Stuart's fault in the slightest), I felt safe and looked after the entire time. Can't recommend Harley's enough, though the first lesson did have me doubting if I should bother learning, but that was more to do with that particular instructor as both I had after made the experience an absolute pleasure. Just getting myself used to my 125 now, and will absolutely be booking the Mod1 and Mod2 through Harley's when the time comes.
Negative experience: Very disappointed had to cancel my cbt last minute due to my mum passing away refused to refund. You would think under the circumstances they would have shown some compassion
Hi Stacey we are very sorry for your loss and we are very compassionate but we really try to fill every last minute slot that arrises to save the customers payment and fill the only 4 slots per day we have. We're booked out to October. So every space counts for us. Again we're sorry for your loss. We're happy to offer another date at a reduced rate. Jim Harley
Fantastic experience: Started from nothing and just completed my full unrestricted license in less than 6 weeks. Can’t thank the guys enough, Kenny, Fraser and Stuart were absolutely brilliant. 100% recommend for anyone wanting to do their license.
Fantastic experience: Had a great time throughout the training. went from very little bike experience to having full licence in i think 4 months or maybe just over.Top quality guys and always safety comes first. Thanks to Ben, tommy,Jim and the rest of the team awesome job. Many thanks BD
Fantastic experience: Excellent training school. Very patient instructors. Would highly recommend
Fantastic experience: I can recommend with a clear conscience. CBT training conducted professionally and with attention. The knowledge I received during the training is really helpful and reflects the realities that prevail on the road. Full professionalism. I intend to do a driving license category A right here. Best regards and thank you Jim
Fantastic experience: Great bunch of instructors from cbt to full das great people very friendly and very helpful thro all coarses easy to talk to and ask questions about the rides very patient people. Would highly recommend if you are looking for good friendly instructors. I have done my cbt thro to mod 2 that I passed today... a big thank you to all the team at harleys I will be looking forward to popping by for a chat and a coffee .
Fantastic experience: Did my CBT at Harley’s with Stuart and Gregor. Throughly enjoyed the course from 2 excellent instructors. Would highly recommend Harley’s for anyone looking to do a CBT course or progress to a full DAS. Big thanks for the training.
Fantastic experience: Passed my Mod 2 today thanks to the folks at Harley's. Fantastic learning experience from start to finish having never sat on a bike before in my puff. Everything was organised around my schedule for work no bother at all. Massive thanks to Dez, Fraser and Kenny for all the training and advice over the whole process credit to the team, top quality instructors and a class bike school.
Fantastic experience: Done my CBT with my brother on Sunday. Stuart is an unbelievable trainer and used different techniques to get us through. So relaxed yet so professional. Brilliant course
Fantastic experience: Brilliant company. Patient and really drill in all the safety and what idiots to watch out for. Also the training has made me a better driver so all good all round.
Fantastic experience: Had issues with my bike and turned up at Harleys, Gordon sorted it in 10 minutes. Completed my CBT here 6 months ago and Harleys have always been happy to help when i've needed assistance - top tier place, if you're Lanarkshire based this is the one
Positive experience: On arrival at my CBT, another pupil told me I should have been on a free lesson prior. The office had not told me about it. It would've made a difference as it was 20 years since I'd been on a bike and I was asked to leave half way through the CBT as I was not up to standard. Gordon, the mechanic, helped me enormously. He took me back up to the pad that day and taught me a relaxed riding position, went through each step of doing a figure of eight, and countersteering. We had a laugh about him doing his bike tests and I still use all his tips now that I've passed my full motorbike licence. I ended up paying for a second CBT and a lesson in between times, I was grateful the office fitted me in for these quite quickly. I did a few lessons towards the full test with Harleys but I was always confused about where I stood and the office didn't make it clear about what was required or how many lessons I would need, so I went elsewhere to do it. Gordon saved the day for me at Harley's.
Hi Helen thanks for your review and I am glad you passed your test. Your Cbt with us was 2 years ago tho and maybe the review is a bit out of date. We do and have always offered a FREE introductory lesson.More than any other school locally. It's advertised on our website @Harleys.training and all over our social media. I'm glad Gordon and you got along andwith his help and the rest if the teams support you got through the cbt and took the training onwards. Well done Ride safe and vest wishes from all @Harleys rider training
Negative experience: Think twice about booking via Harley’s. On the day of my CBT on route to their place I got a call saying my course has been cancelled. After an already long wait for this date. I asked would it be the next day or what? The reply was the low blow. Another 3 month wait!! This is totally out of order all the preparations leading up to this day & the anticipation of the day being dumped on you the morning as you are on the way to do your CBT is down right unprofessional & I’d suggest booking elsewhere. Taking time from work then the expense of getting there to have the rug pulled with a blatant last minute excuse & to have no backup plan in place is really a spotlight on the care they input to clients & their preparation for accommodating them. Which is quite clearly not in their radar. I’m extremely put out by all the wasted time I’ve incurred via Harley’s. Think twice about using this poorly ran organisation!! 23/4/2024.
Hi Eddie, we are sorry you were cancelled...this was due to an instructor being sick. This was a wholly unexpected incident. You do have to realise it takes about 6 months to become a CBT instructor alone after tye instructor course. We can't just get anyone to do it. The reason for the initial 3month wait and subsequent delay is we are jammed full with all instructors busy and no one to spare. So when we have an instructor go sick it has consequences. We're happy to refund your money for you to try elsewhere but I'm sure you and any others on ypur course are at the top of our friends and family list for any cancelled spots. It is very unfortunate but I think your review is honest but unfair. Trains, planes and courses get Cancelled or changed but we do our absolute utmost to fix it when we can. Best wishes on your training journey whatever you chose to do. Jim Harley
Fantastic experience: Harley's were honestly fantastic start to finish. I did the free lesson with them just to get a feel for the bike and decide if this was something I actually wanted to do, and they go through a lot with you! Stuart is very relatable and personable and I always felt comfortable and supported. They provide you with full gear so that's a massive plus. So I book my CBT for a few weeks later (just did it yesterday there) and again it was a grand experience, everything was explained well in detail and we were always asked if there were any questions etc. I felt very supported through this experience too and thankfully passed first time, being a nervous person I don't think I would have done it had I not got aquainted and done the free introductory lesson first. I can't thank you guys enough. If you're on the fence, just do it! You have nothing to lose with the free lesson and Harley's are a brilliant provider with instructors who have been in the industry for 20+ years ☺
Fantastic..thank you for your review and Ride Safe..you know the kettle is always on so pop by if you're in the area.
Fantastic experience: 10/10. couldn’t have asked for a better learning experience or a better instructor, so informative and patient which made it so easy to pass, high quality full set of gear for anyone who doesn’t already have their own and amazingly well kept motorbikes and scooters to learn on. easily best CBT training centre in scotland would 100% recommend to anyone new to riding or anyone updating their licence.
Thanks Callum. We're glad you had a great experience
Fantastic experience: Did my CBT on 2/4/24. Had my free lesson and a further two lessons which I knew I needed (lack of confidence). I found the two instructors I had very knowledgeable and patient. On the day of my CBT all went great apart from the torrential rain. I would highly recommend Harleys to anyone. Open roads here I come.
Thanks Jake..Ride safe till we see you again
Fantastic experience: Friendly customer service
Cheers mate
Negative experience: I’ve had mixed experiences with this provider. For context I passed my CBT in about 2018 with another training provider that have since closed. I then had a single lesson with Harley’s post CBT. My CBT then lapsed due to Covid. At the beginning of this year (2024) I decided to do my CBT again. So I’d be ready to take the CBT I did a pre CBT with Harley’s to make sure I was ready. The instructor on the day of the pre CBT was actually very good and after the pre CBT lesson I was told I was ready for the CBT. The day of the CBT and the CBT itself was very poor. The attitude of the instructor on the day was pretty appalling (abrasive bordering on aggressive at times). Instructor wasted a lot of time either vaping or filling up their vape. To top it off during the road part of the CBT the instructor thought it would funny to intentionally drive through a large puddle which resulted in me being drenched with water. They then sped away laughing thinking this was a great laugh. I spent the rest of the road part of the CBT drenched and freezing (it was a cold day and being wet just added to this). I was then told I not be passing the course due to some issue which wasn’t really explained clearly and that I’d have to do the road part of the CBT again. A truly miserable experience.
Hi James. That doesn't sound great to me either ( Jim Harley ) I will contact you directly to fins out more. I'm sorry you didn't have a great experience and I'll do all I can to rectifi that. I'll call you today! Jim
Fantastic experience: I booked my cbt training and on the day I was told that I wasn't ready for on road training by instructor Stuart and honestly i couldn't disagree i was taken aside and was given some constructive advice i had an exxtra half days training and the following week i past my cbt ..thanks guys was a pleasure
Well done anyone can teach the easy ones ... glad ypu took the advice and were able to complete your CBT. Ride safe ..see upu for mod 1 and 2
Fantastic experience: Just passed my cbt here and there really amazing very helpful id definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of going
Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed my training at Harleys. Did CBT/mod 1/mod 2. Had great fun out with Kenny on the lessons. Straight talking and no messing around. Prepared me well for my mod 2 at Hamilton detailing nuances of the route which helped a lot on the actual test. Also took me to my mod 1 test and helped calm the nerves prior to the test. Fraser had prepared me for the mod 1 with a great practice on the actual pad a couple of weeks before, a very good teacher too with a manner that helps relax. The tests themselves were cancelled a couple of times due to weather but good comms from the Harley’s team (Davie and the others in the office). Recommended.
Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Harley’s enough. I did my CBT with them in East Kilbride at the end of Oct 2023 and booked/completed my DAS, passing my mods in Feb 2024. From CBT, big bike step up, through to the DAS training, all the instructors were excellent.
Thanks mate. Ride safe and pop by with your big bike
Fantastic experience: I’d like to say a HUGE THANKYOU to my instructor Kenny and all the team at Harleys rider training for making my experience amazing! that much so..I’m going to miss going out on lessons I passed my Mod1 & Mod2 first time and it’s all thanks to the great team of instructors Kenny, Cath, Eoin & Des that all put their input into making me the happiest rider on the planet you are all amazing and made me feel at ease and we had a good laugh along the way! Each of you have given me lots of knowledge and experience which I will carry with me for life THANKYOU ❤️
Thanks Michelle. Hope you're enjoying a run or 2 on your big bike
Fantastic experience: While I have been working towards my licence with the Edinburgh branch of Harley's, I had the pleasure of taking a couple of lessons with Jim. I asked for advice on fixing my bike which I couldn't get to start and was having trouble getting hold of a mechanic willing to help. Jim kindly arranged for one of the Glasgow Harley's guys to come and have a look and I was back on the road that day. A testament to how well this business looks after their customers, thanks to Jim and Gordon and everyone else I've met from both branches you are a fabulous lot
Fantastic experience: Done my mod1 & mod2 with Harley’s Glasgow. I had Kenny for both of my tests he’s thorough, informative and straight to the point. And helped with my nerves. Had Fraser for my lessons he’s really good too and again helped with my nerves Highly recommend them ️
Fantastic experience: Done CBT and full access with Harley’s. Great experience, really liked everything - instructors different approach and learnings, bikes and most importantly passed all mods first time. My only advice get your own 125cc and spend some time on it before you go for full access - it makes massive difference.
Hey, Well done and thanks for a fantastic review ...ride safe pal ️❤️️
Fantastic experience: Thank You to all staff at Harley's Rider Training Centre! I got my CBT certificate and I'm buzzin. Now, the experience is not easy and a wee bit stressful if you haven't been out on a bike before BUT my instructor Kenny was thorough, informative and straight to the point. The other instructors were also very helpfull and encouraging during the whole process even the mechanic Gordon who gave me a cup of tea and a biscuit. Legend Mate. Thanks again and see you soon for my Mod 1. ps. Hope the boss is keeping the workshop warm for his staff during the cold months.
Well done sir. Gordy is a good man indeed. Glad you had a great day . Ride safe and enjoy the freedom
Fantastic experience: Absolute top tier bike school. Done my CBT here in October '21 and had such a positive experience I returned to do my DAS training. My CBT was due to run out and I had roughly 6 weeks to get through my DAS. Thought I was pushing it but these guys done everything they could to fit it all in around my unpredictable and hectic life. One of the most positive aspects of this school is that at every stage of the game, with the exception of CBT, your experience is taken into consideration. I've rode on the road daily on a CBT for 2 years, have lots of riding confidence and the school tailored everything around this from only booking me in for the lessons they think are absolutely required to the instructors encouraging you to actually ride the bike and delivering training in such a way where it just feels like 3 guys out on a jaunt on the bikes. Which is very different to other motor training I've experienced. A very relaxed, mature approach to training and I would recommend this school to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Great experience, starting with CBT through to Mod1 and Mod2 first time passes No complaints. All staff extremely helpful from office to the instructors. Had a few different instructors so dont wanna single any one of them out, they were all great. Even if not taking me on the lesson that day, any instructor that was there is happy to give you advice or answer any questions Would recommend to anyone wanting any MC training at all. Call Katie or one of the guys in the office they will sort you out. Thx guys will bring up a bunch of biscuits as a thank you soon as I get the bike on the road
Fantastic experience: Wow! What a fantastic experience I had using Harley's Rider training. From CBT to full A licence in 5 weeks. Started from the beginning with the free lesson which was taken by Cath. Very helpful and knowledegable and I was amazed by how well she coped with the various levels of ability of the students. This was followed a week later by the CBT course, taken by Cath and Kenny M. Again this was brilliant. The instruction was fantastic and everyone was fully included and engagaed in the training. Next was a lesson on 125cc bikes, taken by Kenny M. Again this was brilliant and a great learning experience. This was followed by step up lessons and test practices with Des, Kenny and Fraser with Eoin meeting me for my MOD 1 test. These guys are all great. The priority is always safety and the lessons were always fun and informative. Tbh I'll miss my weekly visit to Harley's as it was such a great experience! The office staff are great too! Davy and Katie are so helpful and were able to answer all my questions about the training etc. and importantly they back everything up with an email straight after each phone call, which helped as I can be forgetful! I think I had the pleasure of meeting most of (if not all) the team from Harley's and they are a really great bunch of characters. I can highly recommend Harley's for motorcycle lessons. With their help I gained my CBT along with first time passes for Mod 1 and Mod 2, all within 5 weeks. Great place, fantastic folk! Thanks again, Rob.
Fantastic experience: Great experience great people good laugh èxept the rain ha
Fantastic experience: The staff are very friendly and fun, they are proffesional. I had 5 pre cbt lessons and they were worth it and I felt confidence on the bike so I booked my cbt. I passed my cbt with no problems today and I just wanna say thank you to the instructor who taught me how to ride the bike from the beginning and they had the patience for it. Thank you all very much
Fantastic experience: Passed my cbt here today, Kenny couldn’t have been any more helpful, thanks a lot guys, will definitely be returning for my A licenses
Negative experience: Didn't have a great experience with my CBT at Harley's. Was really disappointing.
Fantastic experience: Recently completed my CBT with Harley's Rider Training, great experience, the instructor Kenny was very informative and made the experience very easy going and was patient with me getting to grips with riding a motorbike. I would highly recommend for anyone wanting to do their CBT. Get it Booked!
Fantastic experience: Just sat my CBT this morning. Instructors were very patient, friendly and professional. Will definitely be going back for my direct access. Thanks guys
Fantastic experience: I booked my cbt here as it was recommended by a friend and it was the best decision to choose Harley's. Mr Callagher was super passionate about motorcycles and patient with the learners. He never made us feel nervous nor pressured in any situation, making the course alot more enjoyable than others. All the staff are friendly and fun to be around.
Thanks Nathan, ride safe mate
Fantastic experience: I have had a few lessons now and have my cbt booked and feel totally ready for it. Thank you so much to the best instructor ever, trigger he was so helpful and he congratulated me wen I did something perfectly. 100% recommend
Fantastic experience: Thanks to all the instructors who has taught me how to ride in Harleys. today I have passed my full bike license .
Fantastic result mate ...it was our pleasure
Fantastic experience: This will be a long review ALERT! So i passed my cat A with Harleys last year! They took me through my CBT then MOD1 & MOD2 all within 2 months start to finish ! Had Des as my instructor very knowledgeable and laid back, always keen to answer any questions we had during our training and great approach to us students throught the course of the training ! I wasnt too confident before my MOD 1 and thought would be good to get extra training but instead of taking my money Des reassured me that as far as he is concerned and seeing me do my practice MOD1 test he is confident in me passing without any doubts which was very reassuring ! And yes you guessed it i passed 1st time ! Kenny on the other hand is a guy you dont want teaching You if You a snowlake ! This guy a straight up Gangsta rider he wont be F-ing about with you he will tell you how it is ! A year on and everytime i perform a manoeuvre i can hear him screaming in my ear “ thats you DEAD you haven’t looked over your shoulder ! You f-ing dead now You just been run over by reckless car driver “ which is a positive thing because i kept forgetting to do it till my training session with Kenny its stuck with me till now ! Some people will find him rude but in my opinion thats him looking out for your safety and being straight to the point ! Great chats with him after training done and just like Des not hesitant to answer any questions we had and share his knowledge and experience!! Had to reschedule my training once girl in the office said if she can find someone to fill the spot she will rebook my training and she did no hassle overall a great experience Des and Kenny really reassuring and boosting my confidence throughout the course of the training great team at Harleys throughout genuine bikers people who love what they do cant recommend them enough !!
Cheers were all a bit marmite TBH. Glad you enjoyed the training and you recognise its firstly based around safety. Glad you passed and the lessons will stick with you . Ride safe and enjoy mate . Pop by anytime. Thanks for the review we publish them all good and bad Jim Harley
Fantastic experience: Just back from a free lesson for myself and my son. Kenny was our instructor and he was absolutely brilliant. Made us feel welcome and at ease. Explained everything in an easy to understand manner.we just thought that he was great and gave us confidence throughout the lesson. I can’t thank him and Harleys enough. Got my CBT next week and I’m gutted it’s not with Kenny, but if he’s anything to go by, I’m sure the rest of the instructors will be just as good. Thanks Kenny Edit- now done my CBT today with Cath as my instructor. Absolutely first class tuition. Lovely lady with a great way of communicating. Had a great and safe day all down to Cath. There are a couple of less favourable reviews on here for Harleys, but that has not been my experience at all. Lovely friendly people that want you to do well. I can’t recommend more highly. Looking forward to continuing my two wheel journey with Harleys.
Fantastic experience: Went from CBT to Mod 2 with Harley's. Instructors for CBT were great explained things really well picked up my flaws very quickly and helped correct them with patience. When I went to do Mod 1&2 I had Fraser and Kenny both great I would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: I completed CBT last month and I must say she was very guiding and patient throughout the day, she explained everything in a nice and easy way. The rest of the staff were very friendly and happy. I can't thank them all enough for answering any questions, giving me the confidence to get out on the bike trail, I will definitely be back in the future to upgrade to a full license.
Fantastic experience: Very flexible, helped me out a lot with an ever changing work schedule and always offered alternative times and dates when I contacted them with plenty time to change plans.
Fantastic experience: Did my CBT at Harley's a while ago and the whole experience was 10/10. The staff were all friendly and encouraging, took their time to explain things and talked things through with me when I was feeling nervous. I'll definitely be back to renew my CBT in future and for my big bike tests when I'm ready! Thanks very much
Fantastic experience: Done my CBT with these guys. It was a fantastic day and they taught everything you need to pass. They take their time and show everyone all the basics needed for CBT. Staff are great and price is competitive. They're also great for more advanced lessons and helped me to get my first ever shot on a larger bike which I loved, even though I decided myself it wasn't for me. All the staff are great and will help you in any way they can, they worked around my schedule to fit in multiple lessons at once and are calm and patient with people not sure of the roads. Highly recommended
Fantastic experience: I would recommend these guys to anyone without hesitation. Great Comms, great friendly staff and great advice/instructions. I done my CBT in October, brilliant instructions and made sure we understand what's asked. Started lessons for DAS end of January, I was nervous about stepping up to a 700cc bike but the guys were really good and make sure you are comfortable with controls. Having different instructors helped as you pick up different things from each one. Done my Mod 1 in Ayr and Mod 2 in Hamilton. Passed in March and now have myself a Honda VFR800. Thanks to all at Harley for the brilliant instructions and help. I hope you enjoyed the biscuits and chocolates I dropped off.
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusted, 24 hours before my CBT Fell really I’ll overnight and couldn’t get in contact till that morning. Didn’t want to attempt to sit my CBT as I felt it would be unsafe. Phoned up to ask for reschedule but was told didn’t give enough notice 10 days but my heath turn upside down overnight. They told me I have lost my 170 and would have to book and pay it again. Would not recommend this testing centre!
HI Stewart, that's a very unfair slant on what happened here. You booked in January and your course was waiting for you. How many times over could we have sold your space from January till mow ! You said called the night before. Our phone system regards all calls answered or not ( and we have an ansa service too) no incoming calls were recorded after we left the office. Our instructor called you when you failed to arrive for the training ( twice ) . No ansa ! Then you call us after the training has finished at 5 pm and say you were unwell. Sorry but that way too late ! We do like to help when we can but we have The wages of instructor who was waiting for you to pay. So for the avoidance of doubt for everyone who reads this. You book training you are entering into a contract. We will provide that training as much as we can and as long as its safe to do so ! You don't turn up or cancel your training ....you loose your Fees ! We will be there to provide the training you booked ...it is not our job to resell your training space ...we are far to busy with the customers who do turn up ! @Google this is an unfair review and we have proof of everything stated ...it should be removed in terms of stars but left in reviews for others information !! Jim Harley
Fantastic experience: Was a nervous wreck prior to doing my cbt as a newbie , had eoin as my instructor , great lad from start to finish , presented the course very well , very instructive/informative and had me riding with confidence and ease , also to the two other lads who came in to chat to me whilst others in the group were out on thier test , can't mind thier names but think one was the owners son and the other lived in dunblane , recommend harleys to anyone going for thier cbt or beyond , see yous again in 2 years .
Thanks Derek, glad you had a great day. Ride safe zbx hopefully we can chat again when ypu come back for the full licence
Fantastic experience: Great bunch of guys and girls, did my cbt Here and will be back soon to do my full license,
Thanks Chris we're glad you had a great day. Hopefully we'll see you back for your full.licence.ride safe pal
Fantastic experience: I cannot thank Ben for Edinburgh for helping me pass my mod 1 and mod 2. I said to Ben before I started my journey that I'll never be good enough to do my mod 1 and mod 2 he believed in me. One of the nicest guy I've ever met. I can't recommend Harleys in Edinburgh enough. 10/10
Thanks Mate. You ride safe
Fantastic experience: Harleys top class great Staff
Cheers Gordy Hope that GS arrives soon !
Fantastic experience: Had Eoin as my instructor for a pre CBT and road ride. He was extremely helpful and a great teacher, and also seemed very passionate about what he does. All round a great experience and would definitely recommend for someone with no experience to learn to ride!
Negative experience: Very unprofessional, told 4 out of 7 people they weren't safe on road ( weirdly enough i drove there and back fine), stacked far too many people on at once and showed no interest in training. Keep your money and go somewhere else, very unimpressed.
Negative experience: Staff are good people. However the lesson doesn't pass that day through their teaching skills. Paid 150 then got told to come back for more training which will cost 100 when I paid 150 to be taught. The fact that someone came off their bike during the road run; was awarded their CBT while I was told too come back is infuriating.
Sometimes you can't get everything on CBT in a day . We can teach you it but if its not put into practice and you're not riding safely then you won't finish in a day. If you're not safe by the end of the day you will have to come back for more tuition and that costs. As ypu say staff are good but no matter how good they are only looking after your safety. There was people thst day who were safe with the same tuition as you and were therefore awarded their certificate.
Fantastic experience: Just passed my A license. I would like to thank all involved with my training especially Kenny he has a great sence of humor and all the trainers, very professional. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Thanks Dave well done I'm sure all the team had a ball training you too. Jim
Fantastic experience: Fantastic training centre from start too finish. Completed my full licence with them. All very friendly staff and very helpful. 100% recommend them. Kenny and Des are both great instructors.
Thanks Saffi It was our pleasure and safe biking
Negative experience: Summary: Do not recommend, you can pay less elsewhere, had one issue of Health & Safety reported to office staff. Nearly complained straight to DVSA about how they conduct themselves. Very poor cancellation / returns policy. 2 stars for nice office staff for booking (would give one star if zero stars was possible to give). - 3 stars for issue outlined. I gained my motorcycle unrestricted A licence with Harleys Rider Training a couple of weeks ago. Overall, my experience with this riding school has left me with the opinion of never using them again. I had Dez as my instructor most of the time and I cannot recommend this place at all (bear in mind the other instructor is not better). A saying the instructors loved to tell you is "I do not care if you like me" and they really don't and will treat you like dirt on their shoe. Constantly rude, have zero patience, argumentative if the comms system fails. Example: was riding in a heavy downpour on a dual carriageway, only 3rd time on a motorbike before so was probably going around 55-60mph in the left-hand lane and the instructor was getting repeatedly annoyed that a student wasn't going faster and eventually rode ahead. NEVER once did anyone get asked how they felt confidence wise, anything they was didn't like etc. The instructors are extremely arrogant. There was an instance where the training pad was out of use and we were instructed to use an area just before the training pad that had parked lorries, containers, pedestrians and other hazards and the instructor was annoyed to find me and the other student not riding around when we seen how unsafe it was. This is blatant disregard for Health & Safety and I have notified the office staff so I urge other students if this happens again to notify Health & Safety executive right away as they have already been notified and should not repeat the issue. The instructors do not make it an enjoyable experience, I did not learn quickly but still passed first time but the whole time I hated it and when paying more than competitors I expect better. The returns policy is also a complete joke. 10 working days and that's only if they find a replacement to take your spot. Completely unreasonable
Hi Zac, I'll discuss this with the instructors involved. I'm Glad with our tuition you passed first time . The area you speak of is used for the students to ride in to test and check they are happy with the chosen bike before a road lesson . Its post CBT and expected students can ride around without bumping into containers. Anyway we welcome honest reviews to help us improve . Again congratulations on the 2x first time passes. Ride safe and best wishes with you motorcycling journey. Jim Harley
Fantastic experience: Very helpful and full of knowledge. Good experience.
Cheers mate :-) Ride safe mate
Fantastic experience: Was very nervous in the beginning of my CBT but the instructor was exceptionally helpful with building my confidence and ability to properly control and ride the bike, I look forward to getting more advanced training here.
Thanks for the review mate we look forward to seeing you back for your your full licence. Remember we can book your theory for you just call the office on 0843 931 1997. For choice of dates and times. Jim Harley
Fantastic experience: I did horribly at my CBT but the guys at Harleys helped me build up my confidence and make improvements even in a short period of time. Can't fault these guys, everyone in Harleys have been super kind and you can tell that biking is their life and that they care about making sure riders are safe and confident in getting out there. Scott was also an absolute hero on the day and got me further than I thought I would have got at the start of the day even if I do need a lot more lessons. Looking forward to getting more lessons with these guys before trying my CBT again. Not just good for practical learning but the whole school is like a beacon of positivity for new riders and they took me from a shaking mess to someone who can at least get the bike going.
Well done mate and thanks for tye review. We look forward to seeing you back for that full licence
Fantastic experience: I had several lessons before completing the CBT - I was a slow learner! However, all the instructors, Stuart, Cath and Eoin were all fabulous; patient, encouraging and able to explain things clearly to someone who had never been on a bike before. I would like to thank Abby in the office who gave me the final, gentle push to go for my CBT. I'm so glad I did. The road ride was fantastic and I felt safe with Eoin who gave crystal clear instrictions and immediate feedback. Thank you for that. Thank you to Stuart who gave me a few lessons and built my confidence that I could do it, and to Cath who was as cool as a cucumber when I dropped the bike on my first lesson (fell off); checked I was okay and got me on another bike! I didn't have time to think about leaving it there and then. Cath also gave me a couple of lessons and thought I was more able than I thought I was! However, I've got my CBT and a bike ordered for delivery soon. Next step is getting the L plates off. I recommend Harleys - everyone was fantastic and I had a great learning experience.
Well done stick at it and keep the skills climbing.
Fantastic experience: Just home from completing a cbt with Harley’s and i have to say its was brilliant great instructors make you feel at home and very quickly made me feel comfortable on the bikesi will definitely be back for das and cant thank them enough Stuart went above and beyond and you get a free lesson too which was great too thanks a million ill see yas for next phase lads
Thanks Philip. we look forward to seeing you back ...till then ride safe mate ! Jim Harley
Fantastic experience: I passed my MOD 2 test and owe a big thanks to the fab team of instructors. Des and Kenny were great instructors and taught me the correct techniques to ride safely. Kenny has an amazing sense of humour and I appreciate his advice on how to become a better rider. I'd highly recommend Harleys to anyone who wants training on motorcycles. Cheers!
Cheers mate and well done ...ride safe ️
Fantastic experience: Completed my CBT here with Cath on 7th August and the standard of training was excellent. I've completed a few CBTs in the past with other companies but Harley's was by far the best. Very professional but also a nice relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere to learn in with the added bonus of using nice modern bikes! Would thoroughly recommend.
Cheers KC I'm sure Cath will be as chuffed with you're as we are. Ride safe
Fantastic experience: Completed my CBT with Harleys yesterday and would 100% recommend to anyone, I went in with virtually no experience on any kind of bike/scooter but with the free lesson you get a perfect chance just to get the feel of riding and hopefully calm the nerves a bit before the CBT. Won't go through the CBT step by step as if you're on here you've likely read up on that, instructors at Harleys were great throughout the day plenty of instruction given and don't panic about making mistakes as you'll be given advice and time to get it right.
Fantastic experience: Did my CBT with Harleys back in Dec 2020 then passed mod1 and mod2 in May and June this year. The guys are all brilliant at what they do, experienced and very knowledgeable with a hint of lightheartedness and fun thrown in. Thanks to Des, Jim and Kenny for sharing your wisdom and support throughout. Really great experience.!
Fantastic experience: Passed my CBT today and nothing but positive things to say for any of the staff. Had a really fun day and felt like I got to grips with a lot of the basics and feel confident now to get out on the road myself. Special shout-out to Owen was a great instructor.
Thanks Alex. Glad you had a great day ...you know where we are if need us or just want a cuppa
Fantastic experience: Excellent! Professional instructors who genuinely supported and encouraged my journey from CBT to full bike license
Hey Mrs, How's you? Hope you are well ... we had a great time helping you get on the road. Keep safe ️ Still biking ?
Fantastic experience: Had a great day with the team, really down to earth and more than patient with the learners, they’re happy to go over anything that you’re not sure of, also assist and show you techniques on how to handle bikes/mopeds correctly, I’ll definitely be back for further training as I’m still new to riding and would recommend Harleys Training to anyone starting out, going over for a couple of lessons before booking the cbt would definitely help, thanks again everyone Matt :)
Thanks Fiona. We look forward to seeing you back. Glad you enjoyed the CBT.
Fantastic experience: I was in last Thursday for a free lesson and again yesterday for my CBT which I passed! Both the free lesson and the road ride part of the CBT were done with Stuart who was just amazing from start to finish, he made everything so clear and easy to understand which is exactly what I needed as I had never been on a motorcycle prior to my free lesson! I couldn’t recommend Harley’s or all of the staff more, everyone was so friendly and welcoming which made it a fantastic experience all round. I’ll definitely be back for my full license!
Negative experience: Absolutely rubbish.
Hi thanks for the review ...what was the issue ?
Negative experience: Just Avoid. The called me 2 times to come for training some other day , just giving 2 days notice. I was nice to them and accommodated their request but I had a court hearing in the morning, so I called again to change my booking to which I was told that I need to give 10 days notice by a rude lady, Abigael. My concern is 10 day notice applies to only customers why not you? You could have given me some other date but you were more keen on stating that I will loose £100 pounds deposit. Just keep stealing and be happy. See email below where they did not answer my question. Have to go somewhere else now. Please don't accommodate their request because you won't get a chance and your money will be gone. Hi there, I have not been able to fill your space for the lesson tomorrow so if you are not able to attend you will unfortunately lose the payment. Regards, Abigael On Wed 15 Jun 2022 at 15:05 Mr wrote: Hi All You called me on 13 June to request me to come in the morning at 9am. You mentioned about 10 day notice. It's fine if this is how you want to deal with people. I have 2 times already accommodated your request on short notice to change date and time in the past . Will wait for your email for your update Thanks
Hi Shalabh. Thanks for your review. I'll look into this and see what happend. Jim Harley
Fantastic experience: Passed my cbt yesterday and for a person that gets in her head too much and overthinks every mistake, I couldn't ask for a better instructor. I don't have a car license and never drove on the road before with anything. Ben is extremely patient and his sense of humor and realistic comparisons is definitely what made me pass. He even stayed 2 extra hours to make sure we all were where we meant to be safety wise and general driving.. They really good with responding to emails and general communication.. 5 stars because honestly you guys deserve more than that. I'm not one to write reviews but this needs recognition and credit.
Thank you Bianca I'm sure you worked hard for it. A lot of people think it's just a turn up course...it's not! We offer the free introductory lesson to give customers the chance to see what it's all about. Well done gaining your CBT take extra training to build on what you've done. Ben will be pleased with your review and hopefully we will see you back soon. Ride safe
Fantastic experience: Mega thank you to the team at Harleys, specifically Kenny. Consistently voicing everything he was doing over the radio when he was leading and when we led, he was very clear with his instructions. When you mess up, he gives a very thorough breakdown of what you did wrong. Clearly knows his stuff and grateful for all the instruction in helping me get the mod 1 and 2 done. No more L plates!
Congratulations Jamie . It was our pleasure Ride safe mate
Fantastic experience: big thanks to "TRIGGER" and "OWEN", great instructors, would recommend to anyone!
Fantastic experience: What an amazing place to go for motorbike training. Passed my CBT after attending the free pre assessment lesson which really helped me get the feel for the bike. Instructor Hollie was excellent and explained everything in a clear and concise manner but same time plenty of banter kept you laughing thorughout, great place and they genuinely want to give you the skills to ride safely on the road, the bikes they used are great too all new ones by looks of it... defo going to be booking up for my big bike licence here too!
Cheers H ...we'll be happy to see you back mate ...Ride safe !
Fantastic experience: Passed my cbt today but if it wasn’t for my instructor Hollie I wouldn’t have been able to do it made things so easy and simple explained everything perfect and a really good laugh. I can’t thank use enough for today it was amazing
Thanks Colin...It was our pleasure . Glad you enjoyed the CBT. Hopefully we will see back for that full ticket to freedom. We have a good laugh conducting the training too ! Best wishes and thanks again for choosing us ❤
Fantastic experience: Was very good enjoyed the day was my 3rd cbt but defiantly learned some new stuff.
Thanks Daryl a lot of folk think you cant learn any more by repeating CBT but with the right instructor you can ! Every day is a school day !
