Negative experience: Was thinking about the coarse till I saw the price. £649 for 2 days and they don't even provide accommodation. It may be a good coarse but there taking advantage of people and getting rich in the process

Fantastic experience: I've been riding bikes on and off since I was 17, and I can honestly say that this was the best two days I've spent on two wheels. I was at ORS for a Level One course with my friend, his son and his nephew in law. Our instructors Neil and Roger were absolutely brilliant and made you feel very at ease, both there and with the bike. They help you to trust your own ability with the bikes and we're spot on. Although I have to say, as a 61 year old, they made picking up a GS1250 look far to easy. From being a complete novice to within a day being able to negotiate the sort of tracks with big puddles, mud, roots, stones, gravel, 1:1 slopes, gravel, ooh I loved the gravel, that Neil and Roger took us down was amazing. My confidence grew, despite falling off a few times. It was so much fun with the benefit of learning some new skills. The GS1250, which I've ridden and enjoyed one for a few days on the roads before, was an absolutely awesome machine. The guys skilfully accelerated our understand of the bike that then gave me the knowledge and confidence to tackle the routes we were led down. Honestly they were proper (nicely) scary at some points. Especially the downhill bits but engine braking and those ABS brakes were incredible. Loved the drop off system, quick breather for an old dude. Everyone over the two days we came into contact with at BMW Off Road Skills, both the staff and all the other riders were great. They were all really nice people and lovely to be around. Great lunches as well. We enjoyed it so much that we've already booked for a Brecon tour next year and looking to book for our level 2 Foundation as soon as possible. Thank you BMW Off-Road Skills you were amazing. Happy Birthday to Roger for last Saturday and thanks for picking me up out of the mud Rog!

Negative experience: booked a course but had to cancel for health reasons with plenty of notice, still insisted on taking a 20%cancelation fee, wasnt as if I changed my mind last minute!! wasn't interested when explained so won't be using them again, lads were booking abroad trip next year ,now looking at Portugal with someone else be carefull!!

Fantastic experience: My interest in Off Road Skills began in 2015 when I was invited to to be part of BMW Wollaston GS Trophy team. The weekend was brilliant and started my adventure bike story. Since then I have competed in the GS trophy most years, and as the years went by my performance didn’t really improve. In fact, some years I just had the wrong mindset, favouring an aggressive punchy ride style. So in 2022, I decided to enrol on ORS level one, with a view to moving on to level two and three and there I might learn where I was going wrong. Level One I arrived for the two day course with a “well, if I learn one thing it will be worth it”attitude. Our instructor was Gary Taylor, who soon had the group working through level one exercises all of which I really enjoyed. The two days were fantastic under Gary’s years of experience and I learned so much from Gary’s patient style. Slowly I started to understand that my “bull in china shop” approach to riding these big bikes was maybe not the way. I left the level one course with a refreshed out look, understanding the difference between the BMW GS 1250 and dirt bikes. Level Two Our instructor was Simon Hewitt whose laid back style soon had the group relaxed and enjoying the the training exercises. The group riders had all completed level one and all were ready for level two, some were fitter than others and were allowed to continue practising the new skills while others rested before moving on to the next part of the course. On the second day, I had the luck to follow Simon Pavey and I felt pretty good because I managed to stay with him in a tight rutted section. When we stopped, he told me he could hear me revving the bike behind him and that I would be better in third gear instead of second, so I tried it again only to go faster. Now I was learning to undo my aggressive dirt bike style and employ a calmer smoother style. Level Three Our instructor was Gwyn Barraclough and we had a small group of five riders. Gwyn soon picked up that all the riders were fairly fit and picked some excellent trails to test the group. His instruction was second to none and with years at ORS managed to to get us power sliding and hard braking in a safe and controlled way with no injured riders or damaged bikes. This was truly a amazing two day course and I enjoyed every second. My summary is: A fantastic company, brilliant instructors and bikes. Riders are well looked after and their safety is is the number one priory. Plenty of rest breaks with loads of snacks, fruit and water available, lovely lunch and evening meal. In my opinion, ORS works so well because of the leadership, with ALL instructors taking turns in doing the not so great jobs. Simon and Linley Pavey lead by example, ensuring that all are working towards the same goal - rider safety and satisfaction.

Fantastic experience: Like everyone said, best experience I had and well worth it. My confidence riding on or offroad has grown considerably. I have learned so many useful skills that are still with me 1 year after the course. Certainly I will get back for another level.

Negative experience: I have been a customer of BMW ORS twice before, in fact, it was my Level One course that prompted me to buy my first BMW Adventure bike! I fairly recently managed to get my wife through her direct access and wanted to develop her skills through the ORS School further. Unfortunately, it seemed ORS no longer offered their female rider-only courses as there were none shown as available on their website. I booked and paid for my wife to attend the only Level One course available - mixed gender. Leading up to the event, my wife became apprehensive and I suggested our youngest son participate, so I paid for him also to attend the same Level One course. My son is a serving officer in the Royal Navy and was sent on deployment. I asked BMW ORS to refund me, which was agreed upon, but I've never received payment. Every time I phone I'm given an excuse and an unfulfilled promise to the extent I'm unsure I'll ever get my money back - prompting me to ask myself questions as to the business viability. My emails never get a response, and I'm now about to write to ORS a final demand and instigate legal action.

Fantastic experience: Without doubt the best biking experience I have had. All the staff are extremely passionate, helpful and knowledgeable. The staff feel more like friends than instructors. I cannot recommend enough. Will hopfuly return soon!

Set in an idyllic location, the training is tailored to small groups of a similar experience to ensure each participant get as much as possible out of it. Friendly, experienced trainers who've done this for many years makes this a fantastic learning experience.

Progressed a bit too fast for comfort for me but I was a total novice (couldn't stand on the pegs and had no clue how to change gear while standing on thr pegs). Knackering and at times prettt scary but evwrything we were asked to do was doable even if it took a few attempts Enjoyed it so much i have already booked to go back to repeat the (level 1) course next month to build on what I learned last time. The instructors were great and really wanted you to both learn and have fun at the same time - we had Simon and Carl. Would definitely recommend as I now feel more confident about doing some green lane-ing and the skills you gain also improve your day to day riding.
