Expert Instructors Dedicated to Rider Safety
3 Counties Motorcycle Training (3CMT) has been a cornerstone of motorbike education in Hampshire, Berkshire, and Surrey since 2001. As a DVSA approved and MCIA Ride Industry Approved provider, the school is renowned for its high standards and commitment to producing safe, competent riders rather than just passing candidates. The team, prominently featuring instructors like Stuart and David, is consistently praised for their deep knowledge, professionalism, and ability to tailor training to individual needs.
Comprehensive Courses and Flexible Training
3CMT offers a full spectrum of motorcycle training options designed to take students from absolute beginners to fully licensed riders. The curriculum covers:
- CBT (Compulsory Basic Training): The essential starting point for all new riders.
- A2 Courses: For those seeking to ride medium-powered motorcycles.
- DAS (Direct Access Scheme): Intensive courses leading to a full unrestricted A-category license.
- Back to Biking: Refresher courses for experienced riders returning to the road.
- Custom Training: Tailored packages to meet specific requirements or skill gaps.
A Teaching Style That Builds Confidence
While some reviews note a firm, no-nonsense approach, the vast majority of students highlight this as a major strength. Instructors are described as direct, honest, and uncompromising on safety, which many beginners find reassuring. This structured, sometimes intense, methodology ensures that students not only pass their Mod 1 and Mod 2 tests but also develop lifelong defensive riding habits. Many students report passing their tests on the first attempt, attributing their success to the clear, detailed feedback and the realistic scenarios covered during lessons.
Quality Equipment and Modern Facilities
Students frequently commend the quality of the training vehicles, noting that the school uses well-maintained, modern bikes such as the Yamaha MT-07 for A2 and DAS courses. The facilities in Sandhurst and Arborfield provide a safe environment for practicing maneuvers, and the instructors’ use of defensive riding techniques during on-road sessions helps protect learners while they build confidence.

Fantastic experience: Very knowledgable and skilled instructors that made my training thoroughly enjoyable no matter the weather. I would recommend 3CMT to anyone looking to lean how to operate a motorcycle proficiently & gain there licence.
A pleasure to assist you in passing your motorcycle test. Looking forward to you joining our social runs. Send pics of your bike.
Fantastic experience: I recently completed a full direct access course with 3CMT and the training was fantastic. They not only teach you how to ride a motorbike, they also explain every scenario you might come across on the road and how to deal with them as safely as possible. I will 100% be recommending all my family and friends to use them if they want to obtain their motorcycle licence. Thank you guys for all your training
A pleasure to work with you and assisting you in obtaining a licence for a dream. Looking forward to having you join our social rides and maybe an EU trip next year
Negative experience: I recently took a motorcycle instruction class with 3CMT and unfortunately, my experience was very negative. The instructor was extremely rude, loud, and aggressive, creating a stressful and intimidating atmosphere for novice riders. Additionally, his use of language was often inappropriate and unprofessional, further contributing to an uncomfortable learning environment. This approach is not only unprofessional but also unsafe, as it led to confusion and distraction during critical learning moments. Instead of improving my riding skills, the constant pressure, poor communication, and lack of constructive feedback made me feel more insecure and less competent on the bike. Effective teaching should be supportive and build confidence, not undermine it. After failing my MOD 2 test, I decided to change instructors and enrolled in a different school. The new instructor was patient, encouraging, and focused on creating a safe and positive learning environment. This change completely reversed the negative effects of my previous experience, and I passed my MOD 2 test with flying colors. A motorcycle training school should prioritize creating a supportive and secure environment, especially for novice riders. Instructors should be patient, clear, and constructive in their feedback, fostering confidence and competence. Safety should always be the primary focus, with a structured approach to gradually build the skills of new riders. Positive reinforcement and tailored instruction can make a significant difference in a rider's learning experience and success. I strongly recommend finding an instructor from a school who embodies these qualities and is dedicated to safety and skill development. Unfortunately, that was not the case with 3CMT.
Fantastic experience: Today I passed my DAS motorcycle test, thank you David and Stuart! As a European car license holder with no prior experience in riding bikes or driving in the UK, the journey was challenging but rewarding. David, my primary instructor, was exceptional with his patience and willingness to explain concepts thoroughly. Stuart also provided valuable lessons that greatly assisted my progress. Their approach goes beyond just passing the test; they focus on making you a safe and confident rider. Their YouTube channel was also a helpful resource in my preparation. I highly recommend them for anyone looking to learn motorcycle riding effectively and safely!
Well done Isi. You were determined to get it right (ending up with a clean sheet on test) and had a goal to go travelling. We are glad to have helped you and it was a pleasure to teach you. Remember to post some travel pictures on our Facebook site.
Fantastic experience: Today i have just passed my full A and cannot thank David and Stuart enough. Two different personalities and teaching skills, both mixed in together make it a perfect match Still have Stuart ringing in my ears probably for the next 20 years about safety and riding ability which is understandable. A good laugh and certainly a character. David is fantastic too, helped me along the road to passing with multiple tips and advisories whenever asked. They simply don’t want us to be injured or killed out on the roads so a semi- military style lesson from time to time is defo needed (a shake up wake up call) Overall Definitely recommend 3CMT and the two instructors, a full 5 stars for the full experience in total. Regards Marcus A
