Real Rider Motorcycle Training: Reviews
Positive experience: Andy is a good teacher. It's a shame he enjoys belittling people. I learned what I needed to and passed my CBT but overall I did not enjoy the experience because I found Andy to be unpleasant. Learners make mistakes but they don't need to be made to feel stupid for this. I hope he takes on this feedback as constructive criticism and doesn't go straight into defense mode, like in other similar reviews. All the best, Will.
Hi Will - My job is to simply keep you safe and alive. Riding with your head looking down is a recipe for disaster and you didn't look or seem like you were not enjoying the training. If this was an issue then this should of been raised to my attention on the training. You have never ridden a scooter before and haven't been on a push bike for some time, you also kept looking down ALOT which did eventually get better. I made a bad decision (looking down at the floor) into something that could be changed so you didn't crash. The last person that looked at the dash or floor hit a parked car. I had lots of patience with yourself and give you lots of supportive feedback as well as criticism when necessary. John the other pupil did enjoy the training and he couldn't fault the instruction given. Thanks for the 3 star review.
Fantastic experience: If you are looking for somewhere to complete a CBT or any other licence look no further!! I had Andy as my instructor and honestly, I couldn't sing his praises more, every part of the course was broken down into clear segments, the instruction was thorough, firm but fair and if you make a mistake during training not only were examples shown to you to correct, it it was made clear as to why its important in a real word setting which I found increadiby healpful! for example I was riding on the left which i thought was "defensive driving" which when explained that not only is it not the correct road placement, it is also the exact opposite, i.e car doors openeing, childen running out into the road, ect. seems obvious now there we are. It was extreamly comprihesive and down to earth training. I will be back to complete my full licence soon!!
Glad you enjoyed the training James and thanks for a great review. We at RR always do our best to educate new riders and guide them to success! Enjoy your bike. Cheers Andy RR
Fantastic experience: Thoroughly enjoyed doing my CBT, I was lucky enough to have 2 fantastically knowledgeable instructors keeping me on track today and helping to boost my road going confidence and work on correcting my mistakes. Thankyou.
Glad you had fun Kevin. Thanks for the kind review, we always do our best to help! Enjoy your bike. RR
Fantastic experience: Traveled from Kendal to Barrow to get my CBT done with Real Riders. Met Andy who was my instructor for the day. He is a proper biker with his own personality and swag. Got my certificate and it was worth spending hours for the travel. Good wishes to their team
Fantastic experience: I passed my CBT today with Andy and had an amazing experience. Andy was very good at instructing and helping me to ride the bike better. I made some mistakes but Andy helped me to learn from them. We also met a idiotic driver on the road in which Andy handled well.
Thanks for the review, we always do our best to help customers learn. Ride safe! RR
Fantastic experience: After with this being my first CBT I found them to be very patient and helpful. I would highly recommend.
Thanks for the review. We're glad you had a fun day!
Fantastic experience: Andy was great. I did my CBT with him and had never ridden a bike before. I have been driving for 10 years - It’s very different riding a bike though! Andy helped me feel comfortable when I felt nervous about going out on the road. I learnt so much, it’s crazy how much is covered in one day. I think Andy can seem a bit strict but it’s important to keep us safe! I’m glad Andy is training riders well to keep our roads safer. Thank you!!
Thanks for the great review! Enjoy your bike. ️
Fantastic experience: Just did my CBT with Andy, he was very patient with me and helped me feel comfortable. Thank you for everything! I really appreciate it & highly recommend this place! :) Will definitely be back.
Thanks for the great review. I'm glad you had fun today! See you in the future Megs. Cheers Andy RR
Negative experience: Andy , starts off the day with an introduction and says he likes a laugh during the course… must have missed that part! The way he treated the woman with me on that course was absolutely disgusting, she clearly stated to him that she’s never ridden a bike, yet he was constantly moaning at her an making her feel uncomfortable. He would be slagging her off to me saying she shouldn’t have bothered as he smoked his fag with his grubby hands and black nails. In the end she decided to leave and he showed no empathy at all. So it was all eyes on me now with Andy’s ego running high, did the manoeuvring with him which was easy enough. Then we go and sit down and do some Highway Code which again was straight forward, however with Andy he likes to feel really important all the time. He says “ good job you did good on the Highway Code because if you didn’t we wouldn’t be going out on the ride” as he wasn’t impressed with my riding, now bare in mind I did everything asked of me pretty much 1st time and had to wait on the sides for 20 minutes as the women I was with was struggling. Also he thought this was an appropriate time to go speak to someone from a garage and left the grounds briefly. And when your doing your demonstrations Andy try having a helmet on ! The ride its self was also another way of massaging Andy’s ego, occasionally he would pass me on the bike and say through the microphone “ I’ll show you how to ride a bike” must have been bored again not being in the spotlight. I passed but apparently scraped it.That was a horrific experience. Will not be going there for my big bike test!!!
Omg - this is not what happened. Regards to leaving the training ground your training was stopped while I spoke to someone in regards to an issue. Regards to no helmet, I was riding on PRIVATE GROUNDS so no helmet was needed and this is also so I can talk and explain things to you to try and HELP you learn. I have only just seen this nasty review and quite frankly it disgust's me! If you have scraped through CBT then there would have been a valid reason why this was said. You still passed and still put this crap review wow! Regards to passing you on the road and saying I'll show you how to ride a bike then this is because you can't listen to instruction (look over your shoulder before you turn) etc it's got nothing to do with my ego. If someone shows you how to do something then maybe you would learn and then understand what you needed to do. Regards to the lady who didn't complete CBT obviously she was not safe to be issued with one. My job is complete. Keep you safe and alive.
Fantastic experience: Just undertaken the Back to Bike course with RealRider Motorcycle Training under the guidance of Andy. Recently I felt the urge to get back on two wheels after watching the Dave Myers Day bikes pass through the town. After 40+ years absence from biking I thought it would be beneficial to take this course as a refresher for my return. The tuition from Andy was excellent throughout, with humour as a great tool to calm the nerves. This course is well worth it and a valuable investment in ensuring your return to biking is as safe as can be. If you’re thinking about doing this course, stop thinking and just book it, you won’t be disappointed.
Thanks for the great review Joe. I'm glad you had a great day. Ride safe. ️ Andy RR
Negative experience: I would not recommend this company, to anyone if anything would recommend they avoid. judgemental, unprofessional and degrading. £160 wasted … shocking experience ********Edited as can’t reply********* …. Like I stated unprofessional, as you can see by the reply from a grown man. He had put personal details on someone’s last comment which is a breach of confidentiality too. But as that was pointed out he removed all the post. Air pods the woman stated on the phone “gave a bad impression” judged before even sitting on a ped .. even though he had them in to walk there and took them out. Not left them in for the 3hours he was there!!!! It states on the website it’s “learning” it’s far from it … like I stated previously .. I would avoid and save yourself £160
When said pupil arrives with his earbuds in and can’t listen to any instruction and yet you think that this is acceptable Then when his knowledge of the Highway Code could be written on the back of a stamp and couldn’t answer the most basic of questions it must be realised that we have a duty of care not only to them but other road users In the booking email it quite clearly states a knowledge of the Highway Code is expected which does not mean a word for word understanding but a basic knowledge Strangely enough the other candidate on CBT agreedwith our instructor about duty of care If you had sent an email as requested we could have resolved this
Fantastic experience: I have recently completed my CBT with Andy after years of procrastinating about doing it. Seeing all the bikers on Daves gave me the final push. I found Andy a really honest type of guy……which I appreciated. He laid his ‘stall’ out early and had a no BS style, I would rather know I wasn’t doing something correct and safe on the practice ground than get out on the road and find out the hard way. He was a good mix of complimentary and critical when it was needed. Even though on the day it was raining on a biblical scale on the day I thoroughly enjoyed my day. I’ve got to say though. I felt it a lot more stressful than I thought I would be. But I put this down to the high standard that Andy expected. His patience won the day and I’m now loving being a biker……wish I’d done it sooner!!!!!
Sounds like you had a great day even though the weather was rubbish! Enjoy the bike! Cheers RR
Fantastic experience: Had a cracking time doing my CBT today with Andy. I would definitely recommend Real Riders to anyone wanting to start up riding. Cheers.
A good day's training again! Enjoy your bike. Cheers RR
Negative experience: I had a bad experience here on my CBT and wouldn't recommend it. It looks like I was in the minority, but I had a similar experience to the few low reviews posted. Agreed with the instructor on the day that I hadn't demonstrated what I needed to, to get out on the road. But left feeling like he actively wanted us to fail. We stopped around lunch time, including the instructor. We were recommended to take some private lessons and then retake the CBT. I hope that the other person on their CBT wasn't put off riding. I went somewhere else instead and got my certificate on a geared bike. The standard of teaching was much higher and more enjoyable.
Hi thanks for the review. If you agreed with the instructor that the standard on the site was not safe enough to go on the road then the instructor was right not to continue the CBT. Also if the instructor offered lessons to learn a geared bike then he offered a way forward for you to progress with your riding. Obviously having training from 2 companies has benefited yourself as on your second attempt you will have had some idea how to ride that was gained from your first experience this will have made it easier for you to learn more on your second try. No instructor wants you to fail but they do want you to be safe on the bike. If you failed to demonstrate a good level of control over the bike then the instructor did his job with not continuing the CBT.
Fantastic experience: Many Thanks Andy . Brilliant instructor. Comes over very clear . Just a shame I not feel safe enough to go out on road after 40 years of not riding . But I will be back ️️️️
Hi thanks for the great review Drew. I'm sure we will see you again in the future. Cheers Andy RR
Fantastic experience: Recently got my buzz back for biking, bought a bike & couldn't find my bottle, seems bikes have changed a lot since prehistoric days. Spent a couple of hours with Andy doing some Back 2 Biking which was really helpful. We had an initial chat, a bit of back to basics, amazing what you forget, then off we went. I had to lead so my riding could be reviewed & he could advise where was needed. Andy gave clear & helpful instructions & I enjoyed the refresh. Feel much happier now, still need to blow some dust off but the cobwebs have gone. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Andy & RRMT
Hi thanks for another great review. I'm very glad I could help. Ride safe Nicki. Cheers Andy RR
Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant had a amazing day and experience failed it first time round but got it on the second time round on 125 geared bike Andy was amazing help and also very patient would highly recommend
Thanks for the kind review Owen - keep calm and take your time. You did well today. See you for more training if needed. Cheers Andy RR
Fantastic experience: Great guy, teaches well.
Thanks for the review, enjoy the bike. Cheers RR
Fantastic experience: Coming to barrow today to do my cbt was very nerve wrecking for personal reasons, I had no confidence in the car park practising but once on the road my anxiety lifted, I could not of got through today without the guidance, reassurance & positive attitude off Andy white the trainer, I would highly recommend coming to Andy to do your cbt, thanks so much again Andy especially for being a great listener
Hi Liz - thanks for the nice review. You did well! Remember pick yourself up and dust yourself off. Have fun on your bike. Andy RR

Fantastic experience: Had a brilliant day just want to say thank you to Andy for being a brilliant instructor couldn't have asked for anyone better hope to see you in the future for training for my MOD 1
Hi jack - thanks for the review. It was my pleasure. Cheers Andy RR
Fantastic experience: Passed my CBT with Andy on my second attempt after retrying my road ride. Good instructor, knew what he was talking about and was very helpful.
Thanks for the kind review. Glad we could help.
Fantastic experience: Passed my CBT this weekend for the third time, 18 months since I was last on the road on a bike. Andy was fantastic, very knowledgable and patient and took the time to explain the reasoning behind why it was important to always use the techniques taught. I was rather rusty after some time away. Many thanks again Andy top man. Liam Clark.
Hi - thanks for the review, we're always glad to help! Enjoy your ride.
Fantastic experience: I done my CBT with Real Rider and I couldn't be happier. Failed first time round so went back 2 days later and passed. Andy and Lee were absolutely amazing with me. Very patient, calming and totally professional. Thank you so much to you both and Lee, good luck with your continued training. I'm sure you will be a great instructor. Andy you are a legend. Once again thank you so much. Vinny
Hi Vinny you did much better the 2nd time around. I'm glad you were put at ease with my instruction. We at RR do our best to keep new riders safe. Enjoy your 125cc. Cheers Andy RR
Fantastic experience: Took the CBT course with real rider today, excellent course made interesting and fun by instructor Andy who was positive and encouraging. Highly recommend
Hi thanks for the review. You did well enjoy the bike. RR
Negative experience: Don’t use this company unless you want to be patronised and talked down to!
Hi thanks for the review, a level of competency needs to be shown when riding a motorcycle and good control on all parts of a CBT must be shown. Stalling, lurching forward, dumping the clutch is not a good idea. You were at high risk of crashing while on the site this is why you were not taken out on the roads. It was dangerous to continue the CBT so a DL196 should NOT be issued.
Positive experience: Had a great day passing my CBT , even though it rained the whole day.. will be booking my DAS very soon
Thanks for the review. We do DAS!
Fantastic experience: What an unbelievable journey! I had zero experience on motorbikes and it certainly showed. I found the geared bike a step too far for my ability. For example I personally needed lots of TIME! With Andy’s encouragement, clear, concise instructions and demonstrations I slowly gained confidence. Andy’s fantastic approach to teaching led him to tailor the training to my specific individual needs. I completed and passed my CBT on a moped. This was an absolutely massive achievement for me. I would like to personally thank Andy for his time and effort and for not giving up on me when others would have done. Nath
Thanks RR
Fantastic experience: I had a brilliant time on the cbt with Andy. A very sound lad and great at helping with tasks to improve my riding. All in all a great experience at real rider.
Hi Ben - thanks, ride safe. RR
Fantastic experience: Brilliant experience highly recommend
Thanks josh. You did very well. Ride safe. Andy RR
Fantastic experience: Passed my CBT with Andy today. Knowledgeable, easy going, friendly and patient. Helped me massively with my confidence and answered any questions I had. Would definitely recommend.
Glad we could help Richard. Ride safe.
Fantastic experience: Just like to say a big thank you to Denis & Andy for getting me through my mod 1 & mod2 really appreciate all the help & advice take care guys thanks again
Ride safe Steve and your welcome. Andy and Denis
Fantastic experience: Just completed my CBT with Andy. Great instructions and training in very cold weather and kept our spirits up. I would highly recommend.
Enjoy the bike, stay safe. Cheers RR
Fantastic experience: This has been my third CBT over the years and each time I have gone to Real Rider! Andy is a natural teacher with vast knowledge and experience. He adjusts his teaching style accordingly to suit the needs of the individual, but you always leave with the best foundation to build your own experience on. It may seem daunting at first but trust and enjoy the process as you are in good hands with Andy as he is very reassuring and supportive in all aspects of training and instruction. After ironing out the wrinkles on the course, we enjoyed an excellent ride out on the roads. Hopefully, this will be the last CBT I do but all my future training and tests will be done with Real Rider! Fantastic service and support for riders both new and old! 11th November 2024 - Today I passed my MOD 2 and I now have my full category A licence! All thanks to my training with Real Rider! Thank you very much for everything!
Hi Nathan - thanks for the great review. I'm glad you enjoyed the training. Cheers Andy RR
Fantastic experience: These are the guys to go to in Cumbria for motorcycle training. From CBT all the way to passing category A license the knowledge and training was spot on. Thank you Denis and Andy.
No worries. Thanks for using us. Cheers RR
Fantastic experience: Denis helped me get my test passed safely with his invaluable instruction, and the ground work for jumping on a big bike was done by Andy during my CBT. Great duo and great riding school! Highly recommend.
Another happy customer, we always do our best. Cheers RR
Fantastic experience: Real riders was a very good course as they teach you everything they are carm and relaxing to help you with the course . i did mind today for my CBT and Andy and Ken showed me alot on a moped I needed to know and helped me learn more on the roads. I would recommend this company and learning school to anyone who wants to learn on motorbike or moped on a CBT or even bigger bikes.very helpful people. Thanks
Fantastic experience: Had a great experience today. Andy was a brilliant teacher and incredibly patient with me being nervous and very new to bikes, he made me feel at ease. I was encouraged and complimented when I did things right and guided on the right way when i made mistakes. Would recommend to anyone wanting to take their CBT, whether you're brand new or taking it again. Thank you Andy!
Glad you had fun Rianne - you did have some challenges! Never give up and practice makes perfect. Thanks for the kind review. If you need/want more training get In touch. Cheers Andy RR
Fantastic experience: Andy is a naturally gifted teacher! As a total beginner I was timid and a little overwhelmed having had no previous experience with motorbikes. However, with Andy’s confident instruction and relaxed teaching style I felt safe and was able to ride for the first time. I’m thrilled with the progress I made. Looking forward to future lessons!
Glad you had fun Carmen, see you for your next session! Andy RR
Fantastic experience: I did my CBT today with Andy, an incredible trainer who tailored his teaching styles differently to both members of the course. I had a fantastic day and learnt a lot from Andy. Very professional company I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks you again Andy
Hi Ben - thanks for the good review, you did really well today! It was a pleasure to teach you. See you in the future for DAS. Cheers Andy RR
Fantastic experience: Attended for CBT with Andy who really puts you at your ease and makes you feel comfortable. Couple of hours in and for me (never touched a bike ever) I decided not to continue. Frame of mind , lack of confidence, age lol, mix of all three maybe. This was absolutely nothing to do with the methods etc. Andy was amazing, such a patient guy and really does try to spur you on (thanks) but for me, I think I might be better getting the feel for it in my own time then throwing myself back at Andy's mercy. Thanks Andy and I'm sure I'll see you again, you've been warned lol. I wouldn't think twice about going back to this place or Andy.
Hi Lee thanks for the great review, it's been a pleasure to meet you today. See you in the future. Cheers Andy RR
Fantastic experience: I have just completed my CBT, MOD1 and MOD2 with Real Rider. I genuinely believe I managed to pass all of these first time due to the in-depth training from Denis and Andy. They are very conscientious and take time to ensure you fully understand all aspects of the training. I found the training days fun and came away really looking forward to my next time on a motorbike! I was very nervous on both test days but Denis's words of encouragement and calm nature put me at ease, which as stated saw me pass both parts of the test first time. I would highly recommend Real Rider to anyone looking to complete their motorbike training, or for some refresher lessons. Thank you Denis and Andy, I really appreciate all of your help!
Hi Emma - thanks for the great review. We always do our best to ensure everyone knows what needs to be done to pass! You enjoy your bike and ride safe. If passing RR feel free to call in for a chat anytime. Cheers Andy and Denis.
Fantastic experience: Completed my CBT today and the standard of training was excellent. Arriving in the morning I had never touched a motorbike before and was about to attempt the CBT on a 125cc geared motorbike. The instructor Andy took myself and another learner through the various steps including introduction to the gear, familiarisation with the bike, Highway Code, basic manoeuvres, and practical on-site riding. It’s safe to say I was no wizz at riding the bike but Andy was patient with me (incredibly patient) and got me to the level where I was able to go onto the road in the afternoon. I was nervous, but I’m glad I went through with it as I really enjoyed the ride. Andy didn’t sugar coat anything, he was straight talking, but in a good way that put into perspective the risks associated with any poor practices you displayed. As long as you treat the instructor with the respect they deserve, and make a real effort to listen and apply what’s being taught, I think my experience shows that they’ll go out their way to help you and give you the best chance to achieve a safe, competent standard in riding a bike. Despite being glad I did the CBT on a 125cc geared bike and gaining my DL196, I would encourage you to speak with the instructor and perhaps start on an automatic bike if you, like me, have no experience at all. It’s doable, but Im conscious that I would have made it a lot easier on myself, and it would have been an easier entry into the world of motorbiking. I travelled over an hour to the centre, initially because of availability reasoning, but having been through the course, I know where I will be going later in my riding career either to top up my CBT or to progress further. The training is well worth the drive. Thanks Again Andy. Can’t have been the easiest day of training you’ve had but I’ve learned a massive amount and really appreciate the effort you put in to helping me reach a comfortable, safe standard of driving.
Hi Joe - that's a long one! You did well with listening and learning. Pushing yourself at each stage and eventually we gained enough control over the bike to practice safely. You should be proud as riding a 125cc geared bike is hard expecially when you knew nothing when arriving for CBT. It was a hard day, but we're there to help and guide new riders and Denis and I will always go the extra mile when needed. We enjoy training new riders. Stay safe, enjoy your bike and I'm sure we will see you in the future! Cheers Andy RR
Fantastic experience: Had a awesome day doing my CBT with Andy, great instructor and a great guy you can have a crack with! Definitely recommend!
Hi Scott - excellent ride out! Glad you had fun. Good luck on your theory too. Andy RR
Fantastic experience: Completed my CBT 04/04/23. Andy(instructor) was friendly, approachable, very knowledgeable and straight talking with a good sense of humour. I Had a fantastic day. I was quite nervous when I arrived in the morning and extremely rusty having not not rode a bike for over 10 years. I had a great day and would highly recommend this Real Riders for anyone wanting to obtain their CBT or returning to riding. Just like to thank Andy for his excellent training and instruction helping me through my CBT.
Hi Andrew - glad you had fun! We always do our best. Have fun riding, cheers Andy RR
Fantastic experience: Just completed my CBT with them today. I really liked the no nonsense straight talking of the instructor. Had a great day. Having not rode a bike for over 13years I was really rusty. Andy was patient and very knowledgeable. Thanks see you in May for my MOD1 training.
Glad you had fun, we will see you again soon.
Fantastic experience: Great service! Training delivery is excellent! Instructors have a great deal of bike knowledge and expertise. If you’re thinking of learning to ride, Real Rider is the training school to go with.
Hi - glad you had fun with us Matthew. Cheers RR
Negative experience: Absolutely shocking instructor, very angry small man, put me on a bike too large , shouted for not experiencing a larger bike ( I went to him for that very experience) failed my mod 1 on speed slalom then he asked me not to return……. Whilst I was doing my test he was busy “ bitching” about my daughters car -she’s a learner, this man does nothing to ease your nerves and talks very negatively about previous students if they don’t pass first time, please please go elsewhere and avoid this man at all costs!
The truth is one thing blatant lies are another. You fail to mention you continually dropped the bike but didn’t want to change when offered and because of the damage I had to rearrange other tests. You also fall to mention the free transport from Whitehaven to Walney twice and your sulky attitude on the way home both to me and someone else Another instructor once told you that you’d never ride a big bike I have to agree with him. Both other trainees passed on the same day!
Fantastic experience: Had an enjoyable experience today doing our CBT with Andy as the instructor
Thanks for the review Ben, I'm glad both of you enjoyed the day. Cheers Andy
Fantastic experience: Absolutely excellent and very informative but most all very professionally structured
Hi thanks for the nice review Danny. I'm glad we could get you going on two wheels. Ride safe! Cheers.
Fantastic experience: Did my CBT here today with Andy. Very friendly, knowledgeable and experienced instructor. The whole thing was informative, relaxed and fun. Look forward to much more training and testing here.
Hi - thanks Gareth, Denis and I will always do our best! Cheers
Fantastic experience: Fantastic CBT training completed with Andy from Real Riders. It was my first ever time on a geared motorcycle and the level, pace and content of the training was perfect. Andy's training style was friendly and informative and has given me the confidence as a novice to embark on my motorcycling journey. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Hi Gareth - glad you enjoyed the day. Have fun with your bike! If extra training is needed get intouch. Cheers
Negative experience: I wouldn't go here again. Soon I walk in andy was nothing but rude to me. Talking down to me like I'm child. It clear he didn't like me from start even him not knowing me. Then asking if I be drinking. When I haven't but during my cbt it ok for him be smoking and blowing smoke around non smoker. Which I really didn't like. Andy hygiene wasn't best.
Hi - I gave you plenty of time on our bikes and I was kind and had lots of patients with yourself, I offered 3 different bikes for you to use. You could not ride either of the 125cc bikes safely and I stopped you from crashing. I could smell alcohol on you so as a instructor it's my job to keep you safe, at least I had the courage to ask if you had been drinking as your eyes had massive bags under. You walked away and you chose to leave our site, you give up even on the moped when I was happy to continue with yourself. You were vaping on our site with clouds of the stuff which I didn't mind as I'm a chilled out dude. I could of cancelled your CBT straight away after smelling alcohol. I hope you find someone who can help you learn to ride. The other lad did very well and had a great day because he listened and learned, you could not.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant instructor. Thanks Andy it's been brilliant. Really recemend Real Riders.
Hi Zack, I am glad you enjoyed the day. You did well. Stay safe and enjoy your ride! Cheers Andy
Fantastic experience: Cannot thank these guys enough. Made me feel comfortable with them from the beginning. Denis and Andy are a great laugh, put you at ease and are very informative. I passed all my tests first time, and now have my unrestricted A licence. I have dealt with quite a few places over the years that teach you how to drive a motorcycle ( doing cbt when I was younger a few times etc ) and these guys are by far the best. Being a women I always find these men driven environments to be scary sometimes, but not once did I feel this way with them. Thank you so much!!!
Thanks for your great review Danielle, I am glad Denis and I could help. You are a good rider. Enjoy your big bike! Cheers Andy and Denis.
Fantastic experience: Awesome day! Cbt with Andy
Hi Reece - glad you had fun and a nice day. Enjoy your ride!
Fantastic experience: Would highly recommend. Andy was a great instructor, informative but kept it fun, thoroughly enjoyed the day even tough it didn't stop raining! Can take a lot of what I learnt and use it not just on the bike but also my push bike
Thanks for the nice review Helen, enjoy your ride!
Fantastic experience: Done my cbt today and all I can say is the instructors are very good at what they do and made it an enjoyable learning experience whilst at the same time making sure you are aware of any mistakes and help you resolve them all round giving you more confidence on the road.
Hi Josh, You did very well today. Glad we could help. Thanks for the nice review. Hope you have fun on your bike. Cheers Andy RR
Fantastic experience: Got to say great CBT with Real Riders with our instructor Andy. Said it how it was constructively certainly will make my riding safer and fun. Great day, Great Instructor. Thanks Andy
Glad you had a fun great day. Andy & Denis & I all do our best to provide great training. Riding is fun and nice to stay safe! Have fun on your bike now, enjoy your ride! Take care but have fun.
Negative experience: I've done CBT at Real Rider twice. Both times Andy was my instructor. The first experience was quite good, Andy was helpful and informative, maybe a little bit of a showoff but I guess that's his style, no issues at all, we got along just fine. I've come back to Real Rider after two years as my CBT had expired and I didn't manage to get my DAS training in time, once again met Andy but this time it was a bit... weird. Andy clearly lost some of his spark, maybe he just had a bad day. After I had told him we've done CBT together in the past he misremembered me as someone else that he had an argument with, I found that a bit strange but I can forgive that. The main problem came from his style of teaching, he was no longer very helpful and informative but his showmanship was turned up to 11. He got annoyed very quickly with mistakes and didn't really try to address the root causes, instead he was simply saying "if you do it wrong one more time I will fail you". I guess he forgot the T part of the CBT. Perhpas this style of teaching works for 16 year olds but I got tired of it very quickly. It seems to me that Andy is simply bored and lost his enthusiasm I have no doubt he has a wealth of knowledge and experience but I think he needs take a break or revaluate his methods. Since then I have passed my DAS (first time) somwhere else, stress free, with an instructor that treated me like an adult. Maybe he simply had a bad day, maybe not, either way I wish him all the best and hope that he gets his "spark" back.
Sorry Michal - what you're saying about Andy is entirely wrong. He is helpful and a very good instructor. Flexible and he listens. We are still struggling with getting DAS dates off the DVSA. Would have been nice to get you done and all sorted. You should be lots fairer and rate us much more than 2* we do much better than most other training folk.
Fantastic experience: I completed a CBT with Andy at Real Riders. Afterwards, because I wanted to improve my skill and safety on the road I did a couple of lessons and now feel much more confident as I swing through the roundabouts. It really helped me to improve my competence and confidence on the A roads and also to improve my understanding of highway code. These guys really have a wealth of experience to share with prospective riders.
Well done Alan for improving your road ride - best to be safe as more vulnerable on a bike. Enjoy your ride! Been nice to get you going safely.
Fantastic experience: Did my CBT on a wet Sunday and absolutely loved it! Great training from Andy despite the bad conditions. A well structured course and a great road ride section. The Bike hire was also well worth it. The equipment is all kept to a high standard! Well done to the team at Real Riders and thanks for helping me get out on the bike again!
Jolly good - glad you enjoyed it despite the horrid weather. Enjoy your rides!
Fantastic experience: Andy was a fantastic CBT instructor today, very patient and gave us both some areas we should get some extra practice in for. We had a great day and would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to get started riding motorbikes!
Glad to get you both going, enjoy your bikes! Let's ride. Cheers Andy
Fantastic experience: I recently had to re-do my CBT to keep me on the road as my mod 1 & theory had run out due to covid restrictions. Andy completed my CBT and though he knew I could ride he was really good at pointing out what I need to focus on to nail my mod 2. Great day out on the bikes and Andy was really informative and helpful. Cheers guys, painless experience all round.
Hi Chris - thanks for the review and glad you found it fun and useful. Great to keep safe! Hopefully we might be able to do full tests next year if evil virus stuff gets better. Enjoy your ride!
Fantastic experience: The instructor was really friendly and patient while I was first starting and trying getting the hang of it. Talked you through things clearly and ensured you understood what was happening the whole time and I felt safe whilst riding. Really good day and experience.
Glad you had fun Stephanie - you did well. Ride safe and thanks for the nice review. Let's ride!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic service. I hadn't been on a bike for a long time but became confident very quickly. Andy was my instructor and a brilliant one at that, extremely informative, patient and competent. Once I had completed all the mandatory tasks and it was onto the road test I got an excellent amount of experience through the amount of time given and the distance covered / different situations encountered. I would happily recommend the service for anyone looking to complete their CBT.
It's been a pleasure teaching you Aaron, thanks for the nice review. We all do our best. Stay safe and have fun on the bike! Cheers Andy RR
Negative experience: I booked with Real Rider following good reports, but sadly did not receive the same experience as others previously. I booked a geared CBT having not ridden for over 15 years with Martin whom was lovely on email and phone. On the day I was in a group with one other rider renewing her licence for the second time having ridden for 4 years. Andy, the instructor appeared very pre occupied with his phone and suggesting he wanted to be wrapped up by 2:30pm, this announced at was 8:45am. Having crammed in the talk on PPE, the bikes basic operations, clutch control, gear changes, emergency stops and basic handling of the bike, by 11am he suggested I wasn’t getting to grips with figures of 8 and I was holding the day up. In order to prove how easy the manoeuvre was he insisted I sat on the back of the bike as he spun me around while not wearing a helmet or jacket, showboating…. I was less than impressed. In order to be done by 2:30pm we had to be on the road at 12:00, Andy insinuated I would not be ready for this task and therefore should book private lesions through him and not the office. At this point I took the decision to leave the day and re book with another company. For all those looking to book with Real Rider I would suggest you firstly ask what group you have been put in too and confirm the course timings.
Hi - sorry you didn't manage to get your hands and head around safely controlling the machine. Would have been a tad dangerous to take you out on the road. We can give you some extra practice at some point, and hopefully get you through the whole thing and ride safely on the road. It was your decision to give up and leave. Andy offered and tried to keep you going but you decided to give up and go.
Fantastic experience: Did my cbt on Saturday the 28th with Andy who made it really interesting and fun we had a laugh along the way, I would definitely recommend to anyone who is wanting to get into riding or returning to riding looking forward to get out on 2 wheels then getting my mod 1 and mod 2 done .

Fantastic experience: I did my CBT here a few weeks ago and I have to say, I was very impressed. Andy's training style is friendly but directive. He gives targeted, actionable feedback that encourages progressive improvement. I enjoyed myself so much I signed up for a follow-up lesson immediately. That was also great! Definitely recommend this outfit.
Thanks Conleth, it was great getting you going. Enjoy the ride! Stay safe. Maybe in the spring you could get your full licence if keen. Hopefully DVSA will have spare dates by then. Cheers!
